right, I am hungry

StoneBaby · 04/03/2011 18:46

I'm a 10 for bottom but a 14 top with love handles so bethy come back!!!

CS have you try using a thermometre to help the blockage?

BG welcome back

IC great news on the buggy-nap roller (I don't know how to call it Hmm )

fc I'm going to read your thread. Hopefully you'll have more luck tonight.

StoneBaby · 04/03/2011 19:32

Happy birthday PA's DD (is it tomorrow yet in California?) for tomorrow Smile

bethylou · 04/03/2011 21:21

CS hope DD is better soon. I'm amused at the prospect of you poking the blockage with a thermometer but serously hope she is better at both ends soon.

I'm 5'6" and really I need a size 13 in trousers which is really annoying, especially as I've just gone through the knee of my size 14-and-shrunk-in-the-tumble-dryer-specially-only pair of jeans!! I'm kind of hour glass in shape so usually I'm quite happy with it but I definitely look better dressed than undressed!! DH seems to think I look great, so I guess that's what matters (except when he starts cuddling me in his sleep at 12:30a.m when both boys are actually asleep for once!!) SB will be standing next to you in Bristol, or heading to see you at home otherwise!!

CS sympathy on the back and pelvis too. Think I'm going to have to go back to occupational health about my chair at work as I am very sore after a day in the office. Addmittedly, I'm not there that often (as usually out in schools), but often enough to be a real problem.

Anyway, came on briefly to wish PA's DD a very happy birthday. Think they are probably behind us in time, but don't really know!!

bethylou · 04/03/2011 21:23

BG glad you are home safely.

IC have a great image of DD in the running machine adapted for buggies thing-look forward to the buggy with you with feet up in the background!!

Hello everyone, thanks for reading my thread and posting.

Everything about dd is weird at the moment. She sleeps lightly, she won't eat (for me, but happily for anyone else), everything I give her to eat she throws on the floor while looking at me defiantly. She cries a lot.

Anyway dh and I had a rare night out last night (rock and roll dancing lessons)! So I was worried about leaving her with a bb sitter. But she was pretty good, grumbled for a while, but not too long.

What's a buggy trundler .

Happy birthday baby Penguin!

Right as we're all being so honest I am 5'10 and having been a 10/12 pre pregnancy, am now, still, a 14/16 one year on. It's vv depressing but my own fault.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2011 07:31

It's properly called a Baby Dream Machine fc and was a Dragons Den success (not surprised, great idea!)
There is at least one other version of the idea on the market which is much cheaper, but doesn't appear to be as good, if the reviews are anything to go by.

I got mine for £35 from an Ebay seller, so pretty good value...

The only annoying thing about it is that it times out after 15 mins, so for those of us whose babies need constant motion to take their naps, it means keeping an eye on the time and being poised to turn it back on again every 15 mins. Still easier than walking for miles, though. Although it precludes having a nap or shower at the same time....

Happy birthday PA's DD.

Size wise it's been a strange few years. I'm 5'1" and spent most of my adult life a 10 but with big boobs. Since around 37 I put on weight steadily and was absolutely enormous when pregnant with DD -seriously, I think I put on 4 stone. Just before I got pregnant again I was half a stone lighter than before I was pregnant and was back into 10-12 clothes. I'm aiming this time to be lighter again afterwards and be back into size 10 and weight about eight and a half stone. I've very non-athletic and have an hourglass shape.

Today I'm attending a work's lunch thing for my DP and meeting all his colleagues for the first time. I shall be breaking out the very best of my Kat Slater inspired pregnancy wardrobe. DP is glad I can't get drunk as he does worry about me "being myself" at such occasions having once instructed me to be so and on seeing the devastation of the results asked that I never do so again. Hope everyone is having lovely weekends.

Bearcrumble · 05/03/2011 09:17

Happy birthday Esme!

FC So sorry about your sleep issues.

BG Welcome home!

IC That's brilliant that the trundler does the trick.

DH went out and got a bit pissed last night then crashed around making food. Not terribly late (about 11) but I wanted to sleep and couldn't. And he cut stuff straight onto the wooden counter and didn't use a chopping board which makes me see red. He made up for it by giving me a lie-in until 8.45.

Well I have been busy with the baby gym thing, contacted local website and NCT groups (am going to speak at one's committee meeting next week) - I started a facebook page last night. Would really appreciate you lot 'liking' it as hate looking like Billy no mates - it's called "Save Sydenham Baby Gym". Thank you.

Are any of you medically qualified? A friend's wife is seriously ill with pneumonia. She has been in hospital for 3 days and is comatose. The infection is on her lungs, in her brain and heart. Her doctor says that they will know if she will live in the next 2-3 days. She is on a ventilator. She is only36 and has 2 small children. It is awful and I really want to help. I've already offered to take care of their kids when I can. My friend, her husband, has asked if I know of anything hr should be asking of the doctors. Any ideas?

StoneBaby · 05/03/2011 09:57

bc done

stan Sad

IC is there some option in order to increase the time of the dream machine? Or you need to learn to do thing in 15mn steps Grin

InmaculadaConcepcion · 05/03/2011 10:27

Aw Stan, that's really tough.

I'm not a medic, but this happened to my BIL's brother a couple of years ago and my BIL is a doctor, so he explained it thus:

The pneumonia infection gets into the blood stream causing septicaemia (usually). The infection is then carried around the body, infecting the other organs etc.

What doctors do to treat it is pump the body full of powerful antibiotics to kill off the infection.

TBH at this stage, it's a straight race between the infection and the antibiotics. She will survive if the antibis kill off the infection before too much of her body becomes infected and simply shuts down.

The best thing everyone can do at this stage for your friend's wife is pray for her. And I really don't believe you have to be religious to do this. You don't have to pray to a god as such. But people's faith can work wonders sometimes.
I hope that doesn't sound trite.

Good luck to them all.

Oh Stan Sad

Wise words from IC, thinking of your friend's wife.

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2011 12:26

Oh Stan Sad agree with IC. Hoping hoping hoping she pulls through.

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2011 13:13

Stan just read your friend's update. No organ failure is very good news! Also that they know which bug to treat. (not medically trained here but worked in medical research for many years...)

ChestnutSoup · 05/03/2011 14:36

stan she's in right place and hands. Presumably she's on high dose IV antibiotics and they should start working very quickly, fingers crossed.

PA happy birthday to Esme, hope you are having a lovely day.

DD2 is doing a bit better. Still very clingy, but eating a bit better, no vomiting since last night, and smiling a bit. So hopefully on the mend.

DD1 has a nasty cold and her asthma is playing up, so last night DH was up twice with DD2 (she gets anxious if she wakes when poorly and wants company), and I was up once with DD2 and once with DD1. Still, at least it's Saturday today!

IC glad the rocker is working (and I feel very guilty at being so discouraging about buying it).

beth I'm thinking of asking to go back to physio too (but have been at the GP twice in two days with DD2 so feel a bit embarrassed about going again).

Stan you make me laugh so much...

StoneBaby · 05/03/2011 15:14

Clingy DS here too! And grumpy! But he's reacting to his 13 months jabs by having some fever (38.6C was his highest). But he's a bit better this afternoon and my mum took him for a walk to town to give me a break. He was so proud walking holding only one of my hand at the airport Smile

SconesForTea · 05/03/2011 19:43

Stan thinking of your friend's wife Sad

Happy birthday Esme! Are you having a fun day in sunny CA?

bc I've liked your page. Best of luck with the campaign. Brilliant of you to take it on. I love the picture on the page Smile

FC how is DD's sleep going?

IC great news that the trundler works Smile

Get well soon to CS's DDs.

I drove by myself for the first time in over six months, last night, to babysit for a mum friend who has no family in the area and hadn't had a night out with her DH in a year. It went ok . I promised DH I'd take on driving duties when pg (before becoming quickly pg Confused) and I suppose I have to keep my word . I much prefer to be chauffeured.

First trimester tiredness has kicked in with a vengeance. I keep falling asleep after putting DD to bed at 6pm. Have told DH he's on dinner duty from now on.

I'm having a quiet night in in front of the telly while DH is out with his mates. He will feel my wrath if he is noisy when he gets in.

bethylou · 05/03/2011 21:03

Stan thinking of your friend's wife. A good friend of ours had exactly the same thing last year (and she's a GP so can happen to anyone). To give you some hope, she is now fine after a 5 week stay in hospital and some months of speech therapy. In fact, she's overdue with LO number 2 which is really exciting - a natural conception after having DS1 through IVF!

Well done Scones on the driving.

Flying I think weight tends to fluctuate more after a LO because you tend to comfort eat more (and I have time at home where the food is!) I think your body tends to be a different shape too. I never thought anyone without much in the boob department could sag, but I have proved myself wrong. Am trying to accept that they have done their work and I should be proud of that, not worrying about their post-feeding two babies sag!!

CS I know exactly what you meaqn about not wanting to go to the GP when you seem to be there a lot with the DCs. My boss keeps nagging me to go back again about my chest, but I have prioritised DS2's eczema as it has flared up really badly so he needs to go first (and I like to try and limit us to one visit a weekHmm!!) We can self-refer to physio here so I managed that without taking up any more of the GP's time!

Hello to SB, IC, BC, PA, Schro and BG (and any lurkers!) Hope the weekend is treating you all well. We've been to visit friends in Cheltenham and finally introduced DS2 to my 91 year old grandmother -she only lives an hour away but we have always been ill on the occasions when we were due to go in the last year!

And now I've burnt the cookies cos I've been on here-bollocks and good night Smile!

BabyGiraffes · 05/03/2011 21:04

dd2 did four steps on her own today before sitting down very heavily on her bum Grin. Bless her for trying though Smile. I still don't count it as walking as such, but she does like to stand for ages, holding things in her hands to play with.
