A few first birthdays left, then we're full tilt into walking/talking and a mountain of mischief Smile

Well, I used to work in local media Bc so I can probably advise on publicising your campaign. I can also help you write a press release on it, if you like.

Good for you.

I'm from broadcasting and would say you'll almost definitely get interest from local radio, esp. BBC. Assuming two or three articulate mums (like yourself) are willing to say your piece on the wireless - and don't mind getting up at some silly hour to do so (breakfast shows always have the biggest audiences).

You also might get local telly interested if they would be allowed to film the LOs being cute and doing their thing at the gym session.

Etc. Let me know if there's more I can do, I'm willing to help if poss.

That's brilliant, thank you very much. Will email you when I've spoken to some of the others and formulated our thoughts a bit.

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 03/03/2011 10:18

BC They are great those gyms. We used to go to ours with DD1 before it burn down Sad.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/03/2011 13:07

Cool, I'll look out for it Bc

I'm a journo too if you need any help with a press release (though I think IC is far more qualified, with her Beeb background).

Another week, another trip to the doc with DD2's constipation. More medicine (the third) - let's hope this one helps as the others haven't. Poor thing, she's not right today. She has been sick a few times, is a bit clingy and is desperately trying to poo but it won't come out. My heart breaks for her.

Oh, and I'm not saying what dress size I am to all you skinnies...

PenguinArmy · 03/03/2011 15:39

morning all. Bar any machines going down I have a couple of 12 hour days, but at least it's light at 6:30am. So we'll be buying DD's present on her actual b'day. The doctor thinks that DH has a stomach ulcer so he's being sent for loads of tests.

Chestnut :( for your DD

I have no idea about media things, but looks like there are plenty of people here who do.

We managed to get DD to 2x3 hrs without feeding and hope to carry on (6pm-12pm). Previously when we've done this, she's stopped waking in between feeds after a few days which tends to positively impact the rest of the night, so fingers crossed that 2 hour wakings between 12-5 slow down a bit.

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 03/03/2011 16:09

Your poor DD. Have you try glycerine suppositories?
Grin at DH overreaction!
Without joking, sometimes it more lubrication below the blockage which is needed (sorry TMI)

PenguinArmy · 03/03/2011 16:20

Chesnut have you figured out what's causing the constipation issues?

You're right Schro, we don't like the S word

flyingcloud · 03/03/2011 16:23

Yes, I used glycerine suppositories and they work a treat, just er, smooth, the passage, as it were. You can buy them over the counter here, but think you have to have a prescription for them in the UK?

You probably can't get it in the UK either, but here they also recommend a certain type of mineral water, Eau Hépar, which is high in magnesium. I was a bit Hmm but it works. DD stops eating when she's constipated (obviously) so it's quite good to help things along!

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 03/03/2011 17:33

Sorry pA Crossed post with you. I hope your DH is fine.

StoneBaby · 03/03/2011 18:00

fc I agree with Hepar, we can't get it in Guernsey so my mum brings me a couple of pack when she comes over! I use paracetamol suppositories on DS when he's unwell (ie throwing up).

bc what a shame on the baby gym. I can't advise on how to react but IC seems to be of good advice Smile

Stangirl · 03/03/2011 18:47

BC best of luck with the campaign.

Ooh - I couldn't do suppositories. When people told me I would be "fine" if I had to suck the snot out of my baby when she had a cold I didn't believe them and I was right to - I can't do anything involving icky stuff. Motherhood has not overcome my natural aversion. I couldn't do labour so there's no way I'm doing poo or snot. DP does all nappies when he's around too.

I am now positively enormous at just over 20 weeks. People are asking me when I'm due and look really surprised when I say July.

Anyone know somewhere alright to go in Yorkshire in April? I'm thinking the dales but don't know the area. Am planning a really boring holiday there.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 03/03/2011 20:05

Stangirl, you make me LOL!
(Can't help with Yorkshire, sorry - although York itself is supposed to be rather lovely. But if you want greenness....)

CS, your poor DD2, how miserable for her. I hope it gets sorted out soon.

Likewise your DH, PA. Totally rubbish for him.
Better news on the sleep, though! Here's hoping...

Two of my threads were in this week's hot threads in the MN Parenting News roundup!!!

Fame at last!

I have a thread in Sleep if anyone wants to come and read/throw stones/offer advice (this thread gets a namecheck!)

flyingcloud · 03/03/2011 21:18

I should point out that it's a long OP and unsurprisingly I haven't had any responses!

bethylou · 03/03/2011 22:01

I'm not coming back until at least one of you reassures me that you are a size 12-14 like me (and I thought I was doing pretty well, having started as a 12 before DS1) In fairness, I always hated people who moaned that I was skinny Hmm so I don't really mean it, but I might stand sideways alot if we meet up in Bristol during the summer.

Sorry not to give replies tonight - had a terrible night last night (all 3 woke me up i.e. DS1, 2and DH!) so I'm straight off to bed following my Vicar of Dibley-esque village show meeting!! Night.

rainbowweaver · 04/03/2011 01:04

Work rearing its head again hence not been able to post the last few days and also the silence on fb. Thanks for all the lovely comments :) will upload more pics when things slow down a bit. Also complicated by the fact that often I fall asleep putting DD to bed at 8pm and only wake up about 2am for a delayed dinner!

On the nights when DD doesn't settle and it seems she wants to be up, we go downstairs and hang out for usually 1.5 hours (with more snacks for me and her) then she'll be ready for the rest of her sleep. DH is usually up as he's a night owl so it's quite fun.

BabyGiraffes · 04/03/2011 08:38

Finally home and was a bit Envy last night that I had to wait my turn to have dh's attention. Only joking of course... dd1 wouldn't let go of him and talked solidly for three hours! Smile dd2 gave him a tight-lipped smile ('I know I know you, but remind me again, who are you??) Grin but soon remembered her daddy. dh looked a bit shell shocked after a while. He missed us dreadfully but I think he got used to the quiet house in the two weeks we were away.

Can't believe how cold our house is compared to my parents'. In fairness (to the house?), theirs is 20 years old and ours 120.

[waves at everyone... ]

ChestnutSoup · 04/03/2011 10:48

Beth I'm with you. I was a 10 before DD1, and am now 10-12 (size 14 now falls off). My shape is just different post-kids. I used to be straight up and down, now I have hips and a mummy tummy! Still having problems with my hips and back too.

DD2 still not well. Yes I have tried glycerin supp. DD2 hated them, and they kept popping out. Lactulose has made no difference. Can't get that water in the UK but magnesium is a well known laxative (to pharmacists, at any rate!). This bug is unrelated but the sickness isn't helped by the frequent straining.

fc I'll look at your thread.

Hah, I'm sitting here drinking a cuppa mooching around on MN while DD has her nap...!

Yep, the buggy trundler has arrived and this afternoon is the first time we've tried it out. It's worked first go, she dropped off within ten mins, saving me or DH a walk in the cold crappy weather we're having here at the moment.

Phew. It would have been a bit of a bummer if it hadn't worked. Smile

PenguinArmy · 04/03/2011 16:39

That's good IC

I'm also short and feel that if I was taller my proportions would be a 12.

Work yesterday was 14 hours in the end, here's hoping today is actually 12.

I need to try and not sleep through half of DD's b'day and I need to think what to bake.

ChestnutSoup · 04/03/2011 17:36

I'm short too (5ft 4in) so no excuse.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 04/03/2011 17:40

You've got 3.5 inches on me, CS!
