Hey dylthan you got paint in your hair Smile

just been reading the mumsnet household goods awards

these highchair thingies look great - anyone have one? am actually thinking of getting one for home to use instead of the bloody highchair.

they also recommended these potty training pants that i might get.

cake I don't have one but my sister had one of those high chair thingies that clip to a table. They are fab - easy to take with you if going away somewhere - and take up much less space in kitchen.

WhatSheSaid · 16/02/2011 23:28

Never used potty training pants though, we just went straight from nappies to running-round-naked-for-a-few-days to knickers.

CakeandRoses · 16/02/2011 23:49

ah cool thanks wss - think i'll get one as the highchair has a weird effect on me

yeah but re the pants - you're in country more suited to that running around naked stuff

I hadnt even thought about a highchair for the honeymoon, Im guessing at nearly 1 he'll still be in one.

Ill ask DPs dad if they have one at the villa, if not Ill be getting something like that cakes

mlic is it the one currently on 9.50? Dont worry I dont want it! I go on ebay every day now, so addictive.

Im going to see a friend later on, shes got a tenny weeny baby, hes so cute.

Stac2011 · 17/02/2011 09:21

morning folks,

We have a high chair but barely use it, will have to start as we dont have a dining table.

chulita that sounds like S may need a supper before bed. I give R porridge so she has something heavier in her stomach. Health visitor advised it. Now she doesnt wake till 5am for a feed.

mlic has the tooth cutting settled W any better?

cakes those potty training pants look good. Think i'll have to invest

dh its amazing how huge our lo's look next to tiny babies isnt it? When we saw my great niece R looked huge but it was lovely cuddling a newborn.

tsc well done on the interview sounds like you did great. Did they say they would wait till september for you? Fwiw i would go nursery over childminder as mlic said nursery is designed to look after kids. J loved his.

kk hows E? Are you looking for a 2nd hand car? You could try gumtree, ad trader and auto trader these are all private sales.

dythlan is that all your decorating done?

wss whens the inlaws back?

Chulita · 17/02/2011 09:23

mlic that's the one I've been looking at for L for a long time but they always go for loads on ebay!

Stac2011 · 17/02/2011 09:33

meant to say for the handysitt have you tried baby swap and shop? It has its own website or you can get it through fb

Woodlands · 17/02/2011 09:33

we bought the phil and ted's metoo as our friends have it and love it, plus our flat is small so not much space for a high chair. however j wasn't very happy sitting in it as it has not much support, and always ended up slumping to one side. we have ended up feeding him in his bumbo on the dining room table (handy as food chucked off can easily be given back) and then the other week i also picked up the cheapy ikea highchair. that lives in the kitchen so he has his breakfast in there (no room for a table in the kitchen) and also once he is out of the bouncy chair it will be somewhere to put him in the kitchen so he can see what's going on.

i think the phil and ted's will come in to his own soon though, plus it's great for travelling. at the moment it lives in the car.

chulita are you still just giveing s mushed up veg? might be worth adding nore protein in, that's what fills them up. make a cheese sauce/add grated cheese/do scrambled egg etc. oh crap, s is dairy intolerant isn't he? if so how about lentils, beans etc?

j is now on 3 meals a day and am almost having to start snacks as well. his routine looks like this:

7am breastfeed
8am half a weetabix, corner of toast, bit of fruit
9.30am bf before nap
12pm lunch - either leftovers from our dinner the previous night or half a stage 2 jar/pouch (maybe twice a week) plus ricecake and/or finger food veg, followed by fruit
1pm bf before nap
4pm bf
6pm tea - something like cheese on toast, scrambled egg, beans on toast, eggy bread, followed by yoghurt and fruit
7pm bf before bed
11pm bf
3am bf

so still at least seven breastfeeds over 24 hours, plus three good meals! bottomless pit! the ravenous hunger i have had which got worse the bigger he got and the more milk he took seems to have eased off, so that tells me he must have cut back on milk a bit.

Chulita · 17/02/2011 09:39

I'd forgotten about baked beans, I can't stand the things so I forget that babies love 'em. I also used to make huge batches of lentil soup for L so thanks for reminding me!

You know wonderful mn is for telling you about things you never knew you needed? Well, my contribution is this handheld vacuum cleaner for those times you really can't be arsed to get Felix or Henry out. Mine gets used pretty much everyday and it sucks up water which is quite good after L helps wash up and my floor towel isn't dry from the last time :)

Spirael · 17/02/2011 09:47

Morning all! :) Hope the weather is better for some of you than it is here... It's dark and grey with the threat of downpours, loooovely. It's meant to continue like that all over the weekend, which is a bit depressing... Sunday is my birthday, I'd have liked to go out somewhere! But I think I'll just stay in.

Glad to hear the job interview went...ok, TheSecondComing. Wink Your description did make me laugh a bit, though!

I was in work yesterday and have impulsively applied for a position that's come up in a different team that I've been eyeing up for a while. Apparently there haven't been any other internal applications, so keeping my fingers crossed I'm in with a chance!

I looked at both childminding and nursery for M and went with nursery in the end, mostly because the reliability seems a bit better. With childminding, if the minder is sick or on holiday or something, I'd be kinda stuck with no family nearby! Though the facilities and experiences available at the nursery swung me that way too. :)

We have a high chair for M, this one in fact, with an insert. She seems to get on with it fine, it's easy enough to clean and looks nice in the kitchen, as well as folding away when not in use. Completely irrational, but I'd be worried about the table overturning/bending/breaking with one of those attachable seats. Confused

Very Envy of all the teeth appearing... M still has none at all, nor any indication of imminent arrivals! At least she's finally mastered sitting in the last week or so, though tends to nosedive whenever I turn my back for a moment. Hmm

Nothing like a crawl yet, she just rolls around. She has been getting more giggly of late though! Grin

Has anyone else been contacted about the 8-10 month review? M has an appointment on the 4th March (when she's not quite 8 months old!) at the local clinic with the HV. Any idea what it will entail?

just wanted to show off that i've been doing actual housework this morning, hence why i haven't been on.

I have cleaned mirrors, dusted fireplaces (we have 6!) and behind the bath (it's a rolltop which effectively is just a dust trap)

Need to jump in the bath before A wakes up so catch you a bit later (haven't had a mo to read your posts yet)
