tsc how's frankles? any job news? what's the plan re madame gossip?

viksam you can't really screw up weaning, especially blw - they'll eat when they're good and ready. stop beating yourself up about it, decide on a method (a combo of puree and blw is fine) and then just offer food and don't worry what 'sticks'. See it as time for a bit of a break, put food in front of them and then have a cup of tea/your lunch/some cake and let them get on with it.

my best tip for getting stuff down them blw-wise is a ton of humous dipped onto a breadstick (and then keep redipping) - they seem to love it, it's v nutritious and is easy for you to make and for them to manage.

def sounds like its worth a trip to your GPs.

any good classes/groups near you? just one new friend to have a cup of tea and chat with might feel like a good start.

ps ladies - my friend's dd (same age as A) won't eat AT ALL yet.

CakeandRoses · 22/02/2011 11:44

when i say 'make' - i don;t mean you have to make the humous btw, opening a pot and dipping a breadstick in it is fine Grin

cakes L loves humous, he shudders at 1st taste of everything but not that his eyebrows went off the top of his head in delight!!
L is finally asleep, should do cleaning but im so sleepy, i bet my eyes shut and he wakes up

viksam · 22/02/2011 11:53

tsc im not saying im glad Frankie isnt eating but its good to hear that its the same story with u. He will eat yogurt and that particular pouch and has no fear with finger food, even when he choaked badly on a cherry tomatoe he put it back in! so thats good but i just dont think much is going down and im not buying those pouches at 98p a time!
I have a child minder for the three days im going back, i might give her a ring and see if she will have him once a week starting soon! Im also going to make a list of stresses and see what i can do about them.........feeling more positive already thanks to u guys! I never did rehome my cats, or at least one of them, i know it sounds mean but i might look into that, the dog is quite enough.
Is anyne else BLW? if so what have u had success with so far?

HotGiggity · 22/02/2011 11:55

Vik J is always up and down with his food, and we do BLW. Someday he'll eat loads and then other he wont. He wont even contemplate puree now, in fact even putting it on a spoon and trying to give him the spoon seems to offend him. The only runny things he will eat is fruit pots and baby rice/ porridge.

I'm begining to worry about the amount of protein he's getting as he cant chew meat up, wont eat eggs, wont eat stuff thats got other stuff on it and wont eat mashed up stuff. Yesterday I got so stressed out I was nearly in tears at the dinner table. DH is saying, just leave him, you can't make him eat, if he was hungry he'd eat it. And I'm thinking, thats all well and good but it's me who has to get up in the night a feed him.

Consequently, he was only up at 11, 4, 6.30 (due to DH stupid alarm going off).

CakeandRoses · 22/02/2011 12:02

viksam we're hardcore blw, man Grin

hotg Chill! if you look at best and worst sleepers, there's rarely a correlation to how much protein or anything else their parents are managing to get down them. There are a few naturally great eaters and sleepers such as spirael's dd Envy but most just aren't like that. My friend's blw dd ate like a machine but still woke up tons.

hotg i only gave L his 1st bit of protein 2 days ago, dont worry about food groups at the mo, they only start weaning at 6 months and when you read the weaning guides at 7 months they are only getting one food eg sweet potato 6 spoons, L was on that at 4 months, they still get what they need from the milk, if my dh had his way L will be on slop with no lumps in until he is 15!!

CakeandRoses · 22/02/2011 12:04

also hotg will he eat humous? plenty of fat, protein and carbs in it! it's the solution to world peace too probably Wink

right, need to get some chores done - catch you guys later

I know, I know. I just get carried away with things in my head. Like a couple of weeks ago when the HV said to keep an eye of J hearing, I spoke to him constantly for a week, calling his name, ringing bells at him etc, and then got even more stressed at the fact that he still wasn't responding. I've since decided that he doesn't care if you talk to him all the time or not, as long as you talk to him when doing stuff together.

I like to call them 'stress-fads'

CakeandRoses · 22/02/2011 12:07

yy, with you on those hotg

tis called 'being a mother' i think Grin

OP posts:
HotGiggity · 22/02/2011 12:07

cakes he wont eat mash, on its own or spread on things... I think he doesn't trust it, like all flavours and textures seperate.

Dylthan · 22/02/2011 12:38

Just had bethan weighed and she is 14lb 15 or 6.80kg Grin

viksam · 22/02/2011 12:45

Can I join in flag waving in support of hummus? :) M adores it, we went to Nandos at lunchtime and she loved sucking the hummus off the pitta breads. I might have to start getting in some for home!

She also likes Philly cheese. Particularly on toast or bagels. So that might help for protein? For a more solid version, she loves sucking on sticks of harder cheese too. Crumbly cheese also works quite well too, it disintegrates in her mouth and she has to swallow it.

In fact, all cheese is good really. Grin

memphis83 · 22/02/2011 16:39

spirael i cant believe how much you love cheese, M's 1st word will be cheese!! Grin
L has napped on and off most of the day, i have done nothing but a bit of laundry and a bit of cleaning, oh and i have a stew in the slow cooker for tomorrow so i dont have to cook!! so lazy i usually do nothing while dh is away as there is nothing much to clean as i clean after myself unlike dh!!
its his birthday in a couple of weeks im thinking of taking him camping as he loves it then going to go ape, i dont know what to actually buy him though, he doesnt need clothes or anything for his bikes any ideas of something nice to get him from L?
