You'd be worse if you didn't! Are your other dds around to help entertain her?

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 23/04/2011 14:42

Happy St Georges day everyone!!

We've been having fun in the garden today with ds and the out laws. Ds is going to be having his first ever attempt at a roast dinner tonight. I'm still trying to figure out this BLW stuff. DS has had a few purees when we've been out and about just for convinience but I'm never too sure of how much to give him. It's hard as well as everybody around me does purées and goes on about how many meals their child eats and how the milk feeds are becoming less and less. Oh I don't know.

TribbleWithoutAnEasterEgg · 23/04/2011 14:55

spring In the short term it's not great but in the long term it's much better for you as a mum. Plus she won't remember this time will she, she won't be bringing it up in future arguments when she's trying to convince you that a random boy called Spike is suitable boyfriend material. I do hope things get bette for you though, but rest assured you have made the right choice.

Do you have people around to help you out at all?

SpringFlowers · 23/04/2011 15:52

At the moment the older dd's are staying with friends. I'm glad, in the nicest way, that they're not here as I don't have the energy or patience to contend with three children. DH has been brilliant and is doing all the lifting and carrying but is tired too. He had all the broken nights while I was in hospital. Tomorrow my dad is bringing the older dd's home and then staying 'til Thursday as DH really needs to get back to work. My dad is a mixed blessing to be honest. He'll do some things brilliantly and in other ways make more work. Belly button bleeding has settled down now (how gross does that sound?!) but still having some abdominal pain. Really trying to take it easy today and get lots of rest while I can. Still no poo for R but she did sleep for nearly three hours so is much better tempered. Glad everyone's enjoying the fantastic weather!

floozietoozie · 24/04/2011 07:44

Happy Easter! [bsmile] Hope you have a lovely day with lots of chocolate fun.

Spring dd is getting constipated/having hard poos and I don't know how to avoid them. It's making weaning difficult.

Belated happy birthday NoHen. I remember now from last year you're the same day as my mum.

Silver and moonstorm - good to see you.

SpringFlowers · 24/04/2011 07:55

Floozie - I think there are probably foods that would encourage poos but haven't got the wherewithal to buy them. Prunes or prune juice would help I'm sure. We have had a little poo now - it was all grown up like people poo. It makes me feel strangely sad.

Right lovely day here and we're going to the park early so I can get a little exercise and R some time on the swings. I'm on a mission today to recover...

floozietoozie · 24/04/2011 08:34

Spring TAKE IT EASY! it took me weeks and weeks to recover from my cysts surgery and I didn't have kids to look after at the time. I was off work or six weeks after and really should have been for about three months.

Dds poos are proper poos - little nuggets. Going to try giving her water.

My bunny didn't work before so here goes again [busmile]

tiredfeet · 24/04/2011 09:40

Happy easter everyone [busmile]

Our garden is covered in pink blossom as the wind blew a bit in the night, it looks amazing. Makes up for the fact ds was teething last night so sleep wasn't great. He pulled himself up from sitting using his cot rails yesterday, he was very pleased with himself bless him, he did a little woop of delight!

Dh working today, it feels a bit lonely this morning as I have always thought of easter sunday as a big family day, but my sister is hopefully popping in later and then we are heading out for a big pub meal with friends in the evening (hoping ds sleeps or behaves!!)

Spring I hope you are able to rest and relax still, sounds like you've had a real time of it this week. I hope things start getting easier soon and your dad proves to be a help and not too much hard work!

NoHotCrossBunIntended · 24/04/2011 11:17

SF, hope you are feeling better, as is littlest DD.

Thanks for the belated birthday wishes, and ft, same back at your mum! [busmile]

ft, oooh, love pink cherry blossom. We have a carpet of purple wisteria covering our small patio - so pretty!

Happy Easter to you all. [busmile]

sam12 · 24/04/2011 13:02

Happy Easter. Hope you are all enjoying the day. The sun seems to have disappeared here now.
We went for a picnic yesterday and got caught in a thunderstorm so ended up eating in the car which was a very messy affair thanks to dd.
Just found out that my best friend is pregnant Smile

TyNobdie · 24/04/2011 13:47

Happy Easter
[busmile]
I can smell BBQ's. We are not doing anything special today, have done the egg hunt with ds.
We 'did' Easter yesterday with the family.
Hope everyone is enjoying the day [busmile]

HarrietJones · 24/04/2011 15:50

Hearing of loads of pg atm. This time last year we were the ones announcing!

TyNobdie · 24/04/2011 22:46

HJ Its so weird thinking of what we were up to last year, and now we are all used to our babies [bushock] Its lovely, i much prefer this side of it Grin

NoHotCrossBunIntended · 24/04/2011 23:04

I love this side of it too! Though I truly did adore being pregnant.

sam12 · 25/04/2011 00:02

It's my nephews first birthday tomorrow and it seems like 5 minutes ago I posted on here to announce his birth. When visiting them in hospital my sil was unhappy that she had to stay in hospital because they wanted to monitor him so I asked why couldn't she go home and leave him there I now totally understand the look of horror she gave me Blush this side has totally changed my life and it's great Smile now I've got to leave dd for the first time overnight in two weeks and I am already feeling Sad

floozietoozie · 25/04/2011 10:19

Sam Grin - at least you were childless at the time. When ds was in special care for five weeks and I had to leave him there, some people made very thoughtless comments about it, including some people with children, usually along the lines of 'ooh you can getsome sleep' Angry - because that's what you really want when you've had your longed for first child, to be separated from them and unable to hold them, while you sleep. I managed to restrain myself to "actually I'm up every three hours expressing milk inbetween running back and forth to hospital twice a day". That usually shut them up. That was a bit of a rant, sorry. Re the going away, Sam, is it somewhere nice or duty related?

Having a lovely time at my mum's with all the family. Six kids from 10 to dd. However dd has been teething in earnest and not her usual happy self some of the time.

HarrietJones · 25/04/2011 14:42

Having another afternoon in the tent. Big girls back soon & in the mean time dh & I are taking it in turns to tidy the garden/house as we are getting house guests next weekend & it's a bit upside down since I started spring cleaning. He is also doing practice walks for K2B which are up to 5 hours at the moment, so that takes out a lot of time/energy!

HarrietJones · 25/04/2011 17:08

Been on the beach today. V impressed at pram on shingle, stone, mud & sand!

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 25/04/2011 17:54

Hope you are all enjoying a lovely bank holiday! Dd is becoming a bbqing pro now-weaning sat on the grass is soooo much easier! Ds is potty training as well and doing well :)

HarrietJones · 26/04/2011 11:18

Croissants a big hit here! Just had v late breakfast as we all had to be out by 9 for big girls haircuts. Just done a raid on the greengrocers too -4 bags of fruit & veg- will last a couple of days...

SpringFlowers · 26/04/2011 18:15

Quiet here today. Feeling really tired today, DH back at work - and now in Copenhagen and I'm finding it all a bit tough. I've had to pick up and carry R quite a bit and two of my little scars have shed a small amount of blood. It's hard to know how to be any different.

In better news we have resolution of the poo situation. Lots of breastmilk and some prune juice have done the trick. The smelly people poos have all come out and we are back to more usual poo. It took four separate poos today to get there but I am delighted and R is much happier!

Going to try to get a nice early night and more rest tomorrow. Hope all well!

NoHunIntended · 26/04/2011 18:57

SF, poor you! Hope you are feeling well soon. Glad DD is well though.

HarrietJones · 26/04/2011 19:57

Poor dd Spring, bet she feels better now!

I've been invited on a meal in 2 weeks. Really want to go but it's at 6:30 and dd3 feeds at 7:30ish for bed. It's only 5 mins walking so if I feed before I go & when I get back 8:30-9? It might work? Dh can give her a little milk but she's not going to have to comfort of sucking. She will cuddle up to him to settle though. V nervous about committing to it

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 26/04/2011 22:23

Spring I'm pleased your DD's poo is sorted! I hope you manage to get some rest.

HJ- go for it. If your DD feeds at 1930, get her up an hour earlier in the morning and fool her into thinking that 1830 is 1930 iyswim. That way she'll get her comfort suck and feed. This is what I've done before and it works, though I would have to really knacker DD out in the day!

Tribble- re the BLW, although we've ended up doing purees with DD being able to help herself to normal food as she wants, we still have milk as the priority and she has all the same amount of milk she had a month ago. We feed her as much as she wants and if she doesn't want it then thats ok. So in a way its still BLW as she's letting us know when she wants food and how much. She positively bounces up and down with excitement for the food. The only annoying bit is the wind that she never suffered from before. What I'm trying to say is do what works for you and your DS and don't listen to anyone else when they talk about how it works for them. You're doing great.

DuchessTyOfNorthampton · 27/04/2011 10:43

HJ you should go, you deserve a break :)
SF hope your dd feels better now and im not going to say take it easy, its much easier to say than do isnt it :(
Dd is fine, she is a little chubby monkey, she has such strength in her legs, i think she will be an earlish walker, ds was 16 months old, so anything before that is early to me [cgrin]
Its Tyson BTW
