Just at doctors now. Keep feeling really light headed and woozy so have come to get it checked out. Really tired too. I expect it's the broken nights, moving house and general stress but thought I should check. I'm fairly worried about the surgery too. R still won't drink out of any cups or bottles. Monday night's going to be a long one!

HarrietJones · 14/04/2011 14:18

Hope it's ok Spring. Have you got a bf person to go through a plan for dd re feeding ? They may have some experienc of it? Or does the hospital have anyone ?

Been to a farm place this am. Dd3 stared at everything eventually taking a shine to a lamb after one of the staff picked it up. Everytime we went past after that she coughed at it Hmm

TribbleWithoutACause · 14/04/2011 15:32

Oh Mock I tried doing that once as well, I ended up with pink hair which faded to orange. I was a skint teenager at the time as well. The worse thing was I tried to dye my eyebrows at the same time, pink eyebrows aren't a good look. You poor thing though!!

Spring Hope you're ok.

Does anyone want a load of OPK tests, I've still got some cheapy ones that I got when DS was still a glint in DH's eye.

DS is getting well into the whole weaning malarky, he cried at me something rotten when I got the pear out at lunchtime. Banged the highchair until I popped one in his hand. He then sat there chomping on it with gusto. Bless!

We've also been to the market and have bought all manner of veg, seriously there is broccoli in my fridge. I never buy broccoli.

HarrietJones · 14/04/2011 17:43

I only bought broccoli for dd3 but she didn't like it. Also cucumber that's only for dd3 but she likes that! It's fun how keen they get isn't it.

Dd3 has just had a stroke of the GPs & she seemed a bit jealous of me holding them.

Oh & I fell down stairs before. Had to get dh home to help me the rest of the way. Hip gave out & was carrying dd3. Back feels battered but she was ok

SpringFlowers · 14/04/2011 17:56

Doctors was fine. I already knew I wasn't anemic as I had bloods done at the hospital on Monday. I am having further tests and my blood pressure was a little low. I've got to keep my fluid in take up and rest a lot to see if that makes a difference. I think it's stress related but need to make sure.

Re feeding during surgery, I've talked it over with health visitor and nurse at hospital. There is some, but not enough, expressed milk in the freezer and we have follow on formula on standby. The hospital have fridge space and a microwave for heating and will help if they can. R likes petit filous which is equivalent to a 3oz feed and discovered pureed melon today - it is almost liquid enough to put in a cup. Our main aim is to prevent dehydration. We expect it to be really tricky especially overnight. She usually sleeps with me but won't be able to the first night as I will be woozy from the anaesthetic. DH is prepared to take her out in the pram or car and will sit it out. I'm probably going to just have to sleep. As long as I keep expressing I can start feeding at about 3pm on day two. I'm then expecting R to be quite demanding and to feed constantly. This will be tough with a sore tummy and the tiredness but will keep my milk supply going. I'll be very glad when it is this time next week.

Someone asked about holidays - we are driving to France (mad I know!), quite a way down nearish La Rochelle in May. Our new car was supposed to be here in time but has been delayed so we have to hire one. What a faff!

Weaning is going ok, R doesn't like breakfast foods particularly but is enjoying lunch more. I'm really weaning so that she can gave some food over the surgery period. I think she would have been happy to wait a bit longer. How are your babies managing swallowing with blw? R hates any lumps going down and gets panicky.

I'm stopping now, this has been a mammoth post!

SpringFlowers · 14/04/2011 18:01

X posted HJ - glad your ok. One of my biggest fears is falling down stairs with the baby. Take care of yourself to let your back recover.

HarrietJones · 14/04/2011 18:37

She seems to be 'getting it' now. She doesn't swallow much but can control stuff from back of her mouth to spit so I'm more confident now. She's very much watching the bug girls to see what is good & how to eat it.

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 14/04/2011 19:23

Hello :)

Having a hellish trip abroad to the inlaws-they sure know how to upset dh :( oh well only 3G left!!

Dd is doing really well with weaning-finger foods and mashed stuffall going down well phew, though she did reject a Hipp jar last night (easy when visiting but they really are bland,)

Sam 12 let me know if you need any recommendations for things to do etc on your hol as I'm local.

Re holidays wr are camping in 6 weeks and after this week's disaster
I think we may need to find the money for just the 4 o us to regroup somewhere!!

Noun-v cute nappies :)

Spring flowers-take it easy, sounds yuck, hope you feelbettersoon.

Hj-my dd shouts away too, banging te table and gets very cross if she doesn't get a bit. She liked cinnamon bun today Blush slack parenting of second child!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 14/04/2011 21:01

Will name check tomorrow! Hair looking tonnes better. V expensive but reminded me why I doit. Its loads lighter than normal but I quite like it- a summer look.

DD definitely had an earache worth treating with abs despite the doc being not keen and seeing 'nothing' when he looked in her ears. Today when feeding her a dark brown lump of wax 1cmx0.5cm came out of her sore ear. For such a tiny baby it was huge. I can no imagine whythe whole area was so sore to the touch. She's tugging her other ear now so I am going to get her olive oil drops.

EggTYmer · 14/04/2011 21:39

Sophie is a greedy guts, gave her a whole oatibix, half a large banana mushed up with 3oz milk and a petis filous for afters for brekkie Grin

TribbleWithoutACause · 14/04/2011 22:03

Weaning seems to be going ok, DS adores finger food, loves apples and green peppers. I've done a bit of baby rice for him, but this was promptly dismissed. I tried a bit of mashed carrot and pear today mixed with milk and baby rice, he looked at me like I was a fool.

Mock Oh ear ache is no fun at all.

HJ Gosh I hope you're ok.

HarrietJones · 15/04/2011 09:30

Grin at ds tribble. We get that look too!

V achy this am, still in bed, dh just filled me full of pain killers again. Do you think I need to go back to GP re my legs? Second fall in10 days? Though i don't know what they can do? Scared me yesterday though

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 15/04/2011 10:40

Yes HJ I would go back to the docs. Its not safe. Do you wear glasses by any chance? They can contribute to falls too. Ask the doc to refer you for help. If your hip keeps giving out, you may need some kind of strap support.

Tribble DD is the other way round. She likes to mess with food but its with my help. I pick up finger food, she dives towards it with her mouth then takes it off me. She's quite capable of finding her own mouth and has done well with banana, cheese and potato wedges but needs starter help with other foods iyswim. I think she gets easily frustrated and wants the food and doesn't want to faff around with finding herself Grin. Also she does like to be spoonfed and helps guide the spoon unless she's tired and just wants to feed like this morning with her porridge. She sat, gripping the edge of the highchair opening her mouth for food like a little bird. Yesterday at my mums she had sweet potato mixed with pepper, onion, carrot, tomato herbs and ginger and loved it. I think it doesn't help that she's still not well so wants to eat but not to mess around having fun with it. Hopefully in a few days she'll be much brighter.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 15/04/2011 10:47

Thinking about it HJ and not wanting to scare you, if your hip is giving out that easily, it would be worth them ruling out a stress fracture. I had one a few years ago, you can still walk but the pain can bring tears to your eyes. Top tip, strip off and stand straight in front of a full length mirror. Carefully look at your legs and see if you have any muscle wastage on the leg where the hip is worse. You may be compensating and have as a result reduced muscle tone. I had't noticed but when I had my stress fracture, my calf muscle shrank horribly. Its a good indicator that you need to get it sorted.

HarrietJones · 15/04/2011 11:17

No shrinking , the osteo said im uneven but I think it's me compensating for so long.

TribbleWithoutACause · 15/04/2011 16:14

HJ I would go back to the Docs, it might not even be your legs. It could be an inner ear thing. I've had labyrinthitis before now and with that I was walking into everything. It was rather like being drunk for two weeks, but without the drinking. I'm still prone to ear infections now (thanks DS). At the end of the day, if you go and they say you're fine at least you'll know.

DS and me went to see our childminder, she was just so so lovely! As soon as we got in there, she was down on the floor with DS and played with him for a good solid hour. Her whole family got in on the action as well, her son and daughter were all over him telling me that they needed more boys and that he was cute. I've read her ofstead report as well, really I don't think I could ask for better. I was a bit nervous before hand, but coming away my gut instint tells me that DS will thrive there.

DS seems to have developed a bit of nappy rash so we're in disposables for a bit whilst we treat it. I don't have enough liners to last me through a treatment in our cloth nappies.

How is everyone else today?

HarrietJones · 15/04/2011 17:47

That sounds good tribble , think that's the key to CC, feeling comfy.

It's def my legs, I feel it give out on normal walking around & did feel it go yesterday. I still have glue ear symptoms at times so will mention that too

SeaShellsHasSandInHerShoes · 15/04/2011 21:28

Hj sorry I missed your post-:( how scary for you! I hope you feel better today x

HarrietJones · 15/04/2011 21:36

Am v achy. V hard to get comfy & using lot of cushions

Dd3 a bit rough, grumpy & bit hot. Had calpol this pm & perked up a bit but had been up & down this evening. Wondered about teeth but no bumps. No cold symptoms or anything

tiredfeet · 15/04/2011 22:09

Hello all, at a wedding but escaped to our room as v tired and ds getting grumpy! Has been a great day though, although I embarrassed myself by crying the second I saw my friend looking so beautiful in her dress Blush was holding ds at the time too so dh had to come to my aid and wipe the tears away!

Glad I'm not the only one with a child who bangs their fists when they are waiting for food!

hj sorry you are suffering!

spring really feeling for you re the feeding worries, hopefully weaning plus what you've expressed and formula will be fine though.

Tribble that's great about the childminder, she sounds lovely. I think babies get a lot out of being around older children too Smile

Sorry about difficulties with the inlaws seashells

HarrietJones · 16/04/2011 17:57

Hope you had a good night Tired!

Dd3 is getting obsessed with the GPs, keeps wanting to stroke them & shouts for her turn. She also met a lamb today & wanted to pull it's ears Hmm

TysonSnowflower · 16/04/2011 18:30

Sounds like a nice wedding tired,
Harriet dd3 sounds very adorable :)
Sophie is poorly atm, she has a temp and runny nose and wont stop crying, she doesnt want food, milk or anything but cuddles, which with the packing i cant do all day and with Archie needing attention too :(

HarrietJones · 16/04/2011 20:40

Do you have a sling Tyson? That's alli can suggest.

Dd3 a bit rough still, bit hot & been sick (although that could be the over eating!)

floozietoozie · 16/04/2011 21:57

Ds has got his first ever stomach bug. Not bad going for 4 and a quarter. There's been lots of washing done today. Bless him, he's dead sweet when he's ill enough to be in bed. Keeps saying 'I'm better now' after each sick up even though he won't be. Am hoping it might be passing. Typical on the first day of the holidays.

TribbleWithoutACause · 16/04/2011 22:09

Oh bless tired sounds like you had a good day.

Ty Either a sling or get someone to come around to hold her for a while, or wait until she's asleep to get the packing done. Have you given her anything?

Floozie The poor thing.

Ok, I'm going to admit that I feel a bit thick. But in the BLW book, it talks about nut butter, this is peanut butter isn't it?
