Is that all to do with their ability to swallow JJKM? I guess I didn't appreciate how long some of these things take to develop. Sounds like their piling on the weight though which must be a good sign.

I think you might be right about the ability to sleep for a long time jjkm, Evan can do 5 or 6 hours and will sometime do it twice a day but just not 2 in a row so we either get a long stint from the evening to the early hours or from the early hours until breakfast. Both would be lovely Smile. Its just taking me a while to get used to it as DD was in her own room from 8 weeks and would go from about 7 until we half woke her for a dream type feed about 10.30 and would then go until about 5 or 6am. Looks like she spoilt us.

Just back from picking DD up from nursery, poor little lamb had a tough day, she got bitten by one of the other children and has a rather large mark on her arm to prove it, then she managed to rub sun cream in her eye. Its tough being a 2 year old!

I still haven't managed to get to the sleeping through the night bit in the Baby Whisperer, will report back with any useful info when I finally do Smile

Pootle78 · 07/04/2011 19:24

I took a photo of my first washing line full of baby clothes [oh dear how sad?]

In relation to bedtime routine we don't put Jacob down til after his last feed, normally about 10pm ish. If I tried to put him down at 7 my dh would never see him as he leaves for work at 6am and is home about 7.30pm. Not quite sure how we are going to sort out a proper routine when Jacob is older.

Jjkm that's good news about the twins, 6 weeks will fly by!

Dh is away with work tonight so am home alone! Does ritz crackers and mushroom pate count as one of my 5 a day?!

gallicgirl · 07/04/2011 21:48

Nope, sorry Grin

Had afternoon out today. Forced myself to go visit a friend who lives about 20 miles away and then went shopping in the local town. Went fine for the most part.

Oh little hint.....if you drop your sunglasses and break them and have to buy new ones to wear straight away, make sure you remove the price label from the lens before swanning around town like a film star. Blush

gallicgirl · 08/04/2011 16:41

Gosh, it's quiet here today. Are you all out enjoying the fabulous weather?

I went to get DD weighed as an excuse for a walk in the sunshine and now I'm waiting in for a grocery delivery.

How's your daughter fuzzy? I hope she wasn't too upset about the bite.

Pootle I hope you haven't spent all day washing? You know it will only result in needing to use the flattening device.

You sound like you're coping really well JJKM makes worrying about some sleepless nights seem insignificant. I saw the little boy I know who was born at 25 weeks a few days ago, he's 5 now and apart from him being a little on the small side you'd never know he was that premature. It's amazing how they seem to catch up.

DD is fine thanks Gallic, biting seems to be a phase loads of themgo through, all down to frustration I think so it's just one of those things at nursery. I felt worse the couple of times I picked her up to be told she'd bitten someone!

RunningKatie · 08/04/2011 19:22

Evening all,

Just a quick post to say thanks for being lovely when i posted my me me me post, DP went up to the office today to be told they'd know within a month whether they were going or not. We'll have to wait and see what happens but he's trying to stop me panicking.

DD was not thrilled about her jabs, she screamed her little head off. The Dr looked at her weight chart and wants us back next week. He asked me if I was producing enough milk - how on the earth am I supposed to know? :( My postnatal check was classic:
Dr - "and are you alright?"
Me - "I think so"
the end!

LOving the idea of photographing the washing line Pootle

Crystyclear · 08/04/2011 19:57

the pre-made mince meal in the freezer was for shepherd's pie NOT spaghetti bolognase...

tastes mighty weird with pasta and garlic bread.

the above illustrates my day!

gallicgirl · 08/04/2011 22:12

Oh freezer bingo!

I thought I got two portions of bolognese out of the freezer last week and made pasta. Nope. One was bolognese, the other was super hot chilli!

DD really out of sorts tonight. The reflux seems worse than usual and it seems to bother her when she does throw up. It doesn't usually affect her. HV is next to useless of course and DP is annoyed that I don't have all the answers. Told him to make appointment with the doc if he had so many questions.

Fuzzywood · 09/04/2011 02:04

Gallic that sounds rubbish, reflux can be just awful. Has the GP been any help in the past? Can't believe how many rubbish HVs there are out there, you'd think someone would have done something about it by now, they just have to read a few threads on here to see what most people think.

We play freezer roulette quite often here too. DH refuses to label things so we get some decidedly weird combinations Hmm.

Running my HV asked me the same question about milk supply, without the ability of x-ray vision and a measuring device attached to our boobs how the hell are we supposed to know Smile. fingers crossed your DP gets good news soon.

The HV should know better running. As long as you always offer the breast and baby suckles, you will have sufficient supply. The question might be is the baby feeding efficiently enough. You could do top-up feeds with expressed milk. We did this for over a week syringe feeding which was really hard work but I'd had crap advice about BF though. Keep at it and you'll get there.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 09/04/2011 11:39

Just popping in to bookmark.

Hello all, hope babies are behaving themselves. Just bought L some sunglasses - more for my amusement than anything else (but in my defence, they were only 99p and 100%UV protective) :o

gallicgirl · 09/04/2011 12:22

hahha Grin I thought about buying Alys some yesterday. I do need to get a sunshade for the pram though which means a trip in the car and a visit to the petrol station. Not much fun for my purse!

Pootle78 · 09/04/2011 13:09

STupid question, where do you buy glasses from?

IS anyone putting a flutter on the national? THere's a jockey called d Jacob, that's where our pennies are going!

HOpe you all have a good day in the sun!

HubbaHubbaBubba · 09/04/2011 19:08

Loads of places sell kiddies' sunglasses - mothercare, boots, H&M etc etc, but I got mine from Wilkinson, which is a really cheap place akin to poundland Blush... (same place as his disposables -

travispickles · 09/04/2011 20:13

Hubba - don't be ashamed, ime Wilkos rocks! Where else can you get an inflatable bath pillow (that I found myself hypnotised by in Wilkos)? I have a weird thing going on with Wilkos that involves me suddenly coming over all kim n aggie and buying loads of cleaning products as if just by the mere act of purchasing them I will become domesticated. Will look out for baby sunnies there!

LadyBuzz · 09/04/2011 22:17

oooh I love wilkos too - great bargains!

had a lovely day today the weather has been gorgeous and we have been sorting the garden out to make it more child friendly for the summer.
both boys love pottering about outside Grin

I had my tarots done too but it was all a bit vague, she did tell me that I need to be on standby for by BF who is 34 wk pg as she is going to have the baby within 2 weeks and her hubby won't make the birth - exciting stuff we shall see!

jjkm sounds like you are doing a grand job, its lovely to hear the girls are doing so well!

gallic hope you get some answers re the reflux it must be most frustrating for you.

Pootle78 · 10/04/2011 08:29

THanks bubba, Another thumbs up for wilko's here!

Travis, glad it's not just me with the cleaning products!

We're off to introduce Jacob to his great grandad today so just packing everything bar the kitchen sink for the trip to Sussex! FIngers crossed the roads will be ok!

RockLover · 10/04/2011 11:36

Hi all, long timne no update due to busy week and feeling shit. Poor old George has a cold and can't breathe through nose, hence he is not sleeping well, I feel so bad for him :(.

I am also struggling alot, which is why I haven't posted much recently. My IBS is horrendous since having George, every day I wake up with awful stomach pains, sometimes in the middle of the night too and I am still feeling sick all the time. My anxiety has made a come back because of it, so I have made myself a Dr's appt for the week after next.

I am supposed to be going up to my parents with DD and George, but the thought of driving nearly 200 miles feeling so ill is really not something I relish. But I feel I have to do it as poor old DD misses her grandparents, so I just need to push myself. Although I'm worried about driving on the motorway whilst feeling poorly, I don't want to have my concentration compromised.

I hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying their little bundles of joy, hopefully I'll be able to join in with that soon. Sorry for the moany post, but just didn't want anyone to think I had vanished lol. Hope you all enjoy the sun today with your families. :)

travispickles · 10/04/2011 18:52

rock what about train?

RockLover · 10/04/2011 21:49

I can't do the train as too expensive and I would never be able to carry all the stuff I need, I have thought about it though.

DP and I have also just come down with this damn cold, grrr!

We thought that Evan's first teeth were coming through last week but they seem to have gone away again. Just as wells it looked like the incisors at the top were coming through, he would have looked like he had fangs Grin.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Rock hope the doctor can help.

Well I still haven't got to the sleeping bit in the Baby Whisperer yet but good news for those breast feeding, she reckons you need to be carrying an extra 5 to 10lbs of weight to feed successfully. That might explain some of my extra weight Smile.

Right better get out of bed, looks like a lovely day here again.
