So went to the german dr abt the pregnancy; basically they didn't want to deal with me because I did not have insurance per se. They didn't want to deal with the EHIC card/NHS junk and just waved me off, and said we only take German insurance here.
So I need a proper 20 week ultra sound... but for some reason I cannot get in contact with my UK GP and I cannot remember if I need to make the appt thru them, or by calling another number. Can anyone remember how it went with you? I cannot keep racking up my phone bill only to be put on infinite hold with the receptionist... My stress levels have jumped sky high again. grrr

BoffinMum · 08/04/2011 13:49

Suggestion: just pay for one at the Fetal Medicine Centre in Marylebone and pop back on a cheap flight for the day to have it, Bebe.

bebemooneedsabreak · 08/04/2011 16:27

wish I were made out of money

bebemooneedsabreak · 08/04/2011 17:10

Thinking I must have done something particularly horrible to a German witch or god in a past life...

vezzie · 08/04/2011 18:47

Bebe, are you 20 weeks now, or coming up to it?
I don't understand why the German doc can just refuse your EU cover, but I also don't really understand what your UK GP has to do with it if you are trying to organise it in Germany... (sorry if being stupid)

Can you call the UK hospital where you are booked to have the baby - surely they would organise the ultrasound if you were here?
Then come to UK, have the scan, have full check up with GP in English and make sure you go into the detail of how you are feeling mentally as well as physically, and the hips, and everything, and leave Moo with someone while you do this. Is any of this even remotely possible?

Auld, I totally feel for you about the distance learning thing. There is nothing worse than realising at work that you have been banana-skinned and it is too late to do anything about it. I am sure you are more bothered than anyone else tho.

Birthday presents: I think V will be getting some sort of keyboard / piano thingy but I don't know what exactly. I also think she would love a blackboard / easel thing but haven't researched that yet either.

No baby yet.

WFH - I wait to hear news with bated breath!

AuldAlliance · 08/04/2011 19:15

Vezzie, hope you are hanging in there OK....
IKEA's easel thingy is pretty good, IMO, but you may not feel quite up to the joys of an IKEA trip right now.
The cock-up at work is being dealt with (ha!), and to my relief the colleagues involved have mostly said that none of it is my fault and that if we weren't all so overworked such things would happen less often. Glad I am not the only one feeling overworked.

Bebe, I don't see either how a doctor can refuse your health cover. I know how anti-social you are feeling, but is there no way you can find a Brit, MNer or other, in Munich who speaks German and could help you fight a few battles? And there must be a consulate in Munich, too...
You need someone to support you and help you out, it's a minefield negotiating such things even when you speak the language.

Only one line on the test, but still no idea of dates! Feeling quite pmt ish now though.

Now the puzzle is why do I feel sick all the time?

PuzzleRocks · 09/04/2011 08:47

Good morning

WFH - Did you test last night? Isn't it supposed to be the first wee in the morning?

BabiesBolat · 09/04/2011 09:46

WFH - there are a lot of sickness bugs going around - although I still get PMTish months in to this pregnancy and period pain around the time I would normally be on. And think Puzz is right about timings.

If you are not pg, has it made you decision about DC3 any easier?

I got a lie in for 2 hours today as DH got up with K at 6.10 and I stayed in bed until 8 - feel slightly more human Smile. AND nanny and grandad are taking K out for the morning so I can get some work done I know it's the weekend but I figure if I do three or four hours today Monday and Tuesday will be less stressful!).

And I can do it out in the sunshine! x

What is everyone doing today?

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 09/04/2011 12:30

No apparently the first response ones it doesn't matter what time you do it. I've always used those ones and even really early with orbit I got a faint line, but nothing at all on this one.

Not sure about decision. I was quite relieved but mostly in a not yet and not just before my birthday kind of way! Dp was a bit sad.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 09/04/2011 12:36

Bb hooray for lie ins, but boo to work. I did some last night mind you because now I'm on holiday for a week, yay!

bebemooneedsabreak · 10/04/2011 09:42

Looking into getting private scan in UK while there (cannot get one on NHS as they're all booked) have to call BUPA on Monday otherwise I'll be going with babybond group assuming they still have appts too.

Weekend has been lovely here, but my lowers are suffering with the uneven walking about. Today we're going to go a little easier.

AuldAlliance · 10/04/2011 10:11

Morning!

It is lovely here, very hot in the sun (33° on my terrace yesterday), but breezy and thus cool in the shade.
Cleaned, laundered (5 loads of my and kids' clothes, towels, sheets etc., ironed, listened to BBC, watched Lark Rise to Candleford DVD with G&T in hand.

Slept in till 9:30 this morning...!!
Off for a bike ride. Cake baking this afternoon.
Sounds sad to spend weekend of freedom doing domestic stuff, but once it's done the coming weeks will be so much easier for me. And I am so enjoying just being able to get on and do things w/o constant interruption.

Constant pondering in back of my mind as to where to go from here, though. Distance is doing me good.

OP posts:
PuzzleRocks · 10/04/2011 11:02

Long may it continue. It's 11am here. Too early for a G&T? You have made me thirsty.

ZuluWarrior · 10/04/2011 13:11

AA Smile Smile. Sounds very therapeutic. Hope it helps you sort things out in your mind. I too am jealous of your G+T. I'm at the stage of pregnancy where I like alcohol again and just want to get drunk! The chilled bottle of Sauv blanc in the fridge is not helping (although I have had a snifter or 2 this week) Blush.

AuldAlliance · 10/04/2011 14:05

Never too early for a G&T.

Well, unless you're PG, obv.

OP posts:
vezzie · 10/04/2011 19:22

Glad you have enjoyed the weekend, Auld. Any results from the pondering?

I am going crazy with waiting for baby. Constantly agonising about the best way to sort out dd if my mum doesn't get here in time - friends and brother have offered to help, even the old childminder who is physically closest, but feel up in the air about who I could impose on and who I would feel least guilty about calling (maybe at 2 in the morning). For a while I thought it was obviously my brother (young, local-ish, childless and fancy-free - better than dragging a pregnant friend out of bed) but he is agonising about it so much I am feeling guilty about it - my mum has mentioned he is worried about it.... dammit I am having a baby, why do I have to feel guilty about precious little bro? (grrrrrrrrrr)

I am just completely on the edge now, everything is an affront in some way

Maybe I just need to get my mum here now although her constant talking will drive me completely nuts - maybe I can't have a baby until someone is here to look after dd (like in novels when people can't die till someone has arrived, or something). but then it could be another 10 days!

vezzie · 10/04/2011 21:18

Bebe - good luck with arranging the scan, seems like you are very much falling between two stools if you have to pay for it in the UK as well. I confess I cannot begin to understand your insurance situation.
How are you feeling?

Zulu - I am so ready for a drink I can't tell you. Not a drink - I have had one of those this week - half a glass of sauvignon blanc - I mean about 4 drinks.

Yup, I could drink a whole bottle. Good luck! I'm sure most of the people on your standby list would feel hugely privelidged and not a bit inconvenienced if you called on them.

PuzzleRocks · 10/04/2011 23:45

Vezzie: fingers crosses things kick off soon. Don't feel guilty about waking sleeping friend; tis the kind of story they will feel privileged to regale your children with in years to come.

bebemooneedsabreak · 11/04/2011 08:15

Morning all.

Vezzie- I hope you are relaxing too and find some way to happily sort out childcare for the arrival. (I think the stress might well hold off the baby coming- I think it did with Moo) I was stressing about this myself about a month ago, but my older sister has decided that she's going to come 16th thru 27th of August to visit in the UK!! and so I suddenly have someone available for my due date! (now if the baby just complies) But for back up I guess we'll sort the PIL and or the neighbors...tho I have to say I'm really not sure how much I trust the neighbors/and Meg is not overly familiar with them so I'm still stressy abt her freaking out if we're not around...

Spent most of yesterday reading in bed after just walking around doing random morning things set my lowers into flames. :( (but I do enjoy reading :) ) Dh has been a star and took care of Moo and made supper etc, which I had in bed. However, I got up this morning and found the flat looking like a cyclone came through and opened all the cabinets and tossed everything around the place... and there's food everywhere. Leave him on his own for a day and it's like he's a student again Wink My left hip is still out of whack but I should be able to get things done today if I'm careful and hopefully the crawling around (picking up toys) will set it right again.

So today I've got to call BUPA and see if they can/do/will scan me there's a clinic of theirs around the corner from our development so it would be lovely if they did, otherwise I'll be going up to Bridgenorth which is not as easy, but it's only abt half hour from my PIL who we of course will be seeing anyhow when we're there so hopefully can tie everything all in... it's not going to be the relaxing weekend we planned originally, just hanging out with family and doing some shopping and gathering summery things to bring back...but what can you do???

Auld- hope you have managed to do some things which will make easier this week and yet still feel refreshed and in a good mindset to come to some problem-solving solutions. It's terrible when you feel out of control and yet have some much pressure on you to DO. Lots of hugs.

Happy birthday to all the little ones this week! Happy belated to those this past weekend.

PuzzleRocks · 11/04/2011 08:35

Good luck with BUPA today Bebe xx

PuzzleRocks · 11/04/2011 08:36

Many happy returns to GEORGE, CLEMENT, ISLA, ISABELLA, & ALEXANDRE

bebemooneedsabreak · 11/04/2011 08:37

No luck with BUPA :P ah well.
