we explored the government paternity leave (around Meg's birth) and cannot remember what exactly was the deal, but it didn't work properly. Might be different now granted.

BabyBolat · 28/03/2011 14:37

He will get something, it is unlikely to be his full weekly wage but it is better than nothing.

bebemooneedsabreak · 28/03/2011 16:29

that might be it...it might have been such a small amount...for some reason I'm thinking £30 a day? a week? I don't remember that it wouldn't really have made much difference. It might have been something to do with the fact that he contracts and so technically if he ended a contract he wasn't working any more i'm not sure.

bebe am getting boys ready for bed so in haste, but have you tried contacting expat associations? Meeting some local expats might help with the loneliness and also be able to show you things you can do with Meg.

I did a really quick search and found this:

not sure if I'm in the right mind set to deal with people who have chosen to live here

it must be hormones. I have never been this quick and annoyed with people. It could be because I don't feel others are giving me a chance either and no one seems to try to help, or even offer a kindly smile when I'm out.

I'm not lonely. Life here is for by all accounts pretty much like what I get back in the UK...me and Meg going out to play, coming back, eating, sleeping, playing creating some more. I don't know why I'm complaining, life just is what it is what's another 4m

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 28/03/2011 19:37

the thing is, some of them might be in a very similar position to you, in terms of coming out there with their partners, and not really enjoying it? And if nothing else, someone who speaks English and can tell you where to find a good play park or how to buy stamps or whatever could be very useful.

There's some American associations on there, you might find some people you could talk about home with?

anyway, just a thought.

is there a munich thread on mumsnet?

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 28/03/2011 22:49

So I haven't been on for a while.......how is everyone? BB, sorry work is hellish. My experience is that people will just keep giving you more work, especially if you're the sort of person that generally is very good at getting things done, so you absolutely have to say NO!

Boff - am following you on Twitter and reading the blog - much sense there lovely lady! Hope the picketing is going well? And how is the iron?

Puzzle am Envy of your plans for DH's 40th - sounds like brilliant fun. I dream of a night away from the boys, not I don't love them a billion, but it seems like a long time since DP and I had not a care in the world.

Mind you, this is more to do with him working FAR TOO HARD than anything else. He is on his way home right now, shattered after getting up at 5am to go to London, work like a slave all day, then come home specially as it's Orbit's birthday tomorrow. I think he could cope with the work if he didn't put 110% into being a brilliant dad as well, and vice versa. But we don't want an absent dad who works all the time, so not sure how to solve this one.

Have just finished baking Orbit's birthday cake for him to take to nursery tomorrow. I never learn, I always bake two cakes, one for home and one for nursery/school, and the second is ALWAYS better. So why does that always end up being the school/nursery one? (I suspect it's to do with being more worried about what other people think of my baking skills than my own family. Something amiss with my priorities there Hmm)

oh, he's home - got to go! Smile

BoffinMum · 29/03/2011 09:45

I'll say it. They're probably being stand offish because you're not doing much to integrate. Germans hate that. They like everyone to fit in.

BabyBolat · 29/03/2011 14:10

BUGGER ME I'M HAVING TWINS

BabyBolat · 29/03/2011 14:14

Hello WFH - how are you! We have K's party this weekend - dreading getting ready for it.

PuzzleRocks · 29/03/2011 14:22

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?????????????????? BB are you joking?????

Oh my god. How bloody fantastic.

BabyBolat · 29/03/2011 14:23

No I am not joking, two babies, two heartbeats, one was playing with it's ears the other fast asleep!

Honestly, thought I was so prepared for baby number, when I saw more than one I burst into tears!!

bebemooneedsabreak · 29/03/2011 14:25

LOL! That's lovely news! :) :)
(and scary) but so fun!

PuzzleRocks · 29/03/2011 14:27

Oh darling girl, I want to cuddle you. You must have a million emotions right now.
But goodness me, if anyone can do this it is you. How did DH react?

BoffinMum · 29/03/2011 14:27

Are you sure it's only twins and not triplets, one could have been hiding behind the other two!! Wink

Congratulations. I think! No wonder you felt so sick!

PuzzleRocks · 29/03/2011 14:30

BB - you might want to take a peek in here.

PuzzleRocks · 29/03/2011 14:31

And Kaz, I bet she will have plenty of advice.

ZuluWarrior · 29/03/2011 14:34

Oh fuck BB! Congratulations!

BabyBolat · 29/03/2011 14:35

Well I made them have a good ferry around down there once they told me two as I can't cope with any other surprises! Grin He was overjoyed and his family are flying, as our mine. I can't look puzz, it's too scary!

Boff, they joked when I went in that because I have been so sick there might be more than one to which we all laughed and then she said there was!!!

Thanks ladies, gosh it still hasn't sunk in...

PuzzleRocks · 29/03/2011 14:38

It's just so damn typical of you to be super efficient. Two babies in one pregnancy. Grin

BabyBolat · 29/03/2011 14:41

haha - yes and maybe I can persuade DH to let this be our last!! Grin

ZuluWarrior · 29/03/2011 14:44

What an exciting year it's going to be! What's your due date? I'll update our little antenatal list.

BabyBolat · 29/03/2011 14:46

Well my official due date is 8 October (the same day as my nan's birthday who was alway's a twin) but the hospital said it would be more likely mid-late september as I am unlikely to go full term.

BabyBolat · 29/03/2011 14:47

also not always!

ZuluWarrior · 29/03/2011 14:47

I'll put it in anyway. Then it must be real!

Vezzie - April 6th
Bicnod - July 14th
ZuluWarrior - July 26th
BebeMoo - late August
BabyBolat - October 8th
