Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi everyone. Just checking how you're all doing.
flip hope all's not too much hard work for you at this stage.
We've just come back from a lovely few days away in Suffolk. Dd1 was truly in her element caravaning on a campsite with chickens walking around freely. She was forever knocking the owner's door to go and collect eggs/feed the chickens. I haven't seen her so happy in ages tbh. So we've now realised that from now on, to please all dcs we need to find a campsite in France with a farm and a fancy swimming pool. Not sure if that exists Confused Grin

My hcg levels are going down slowly again: 216 on fri and 208 on sum Confused. I should have had another test on tues, but was away, so now I need to POAS on Sun and hopefully get a BFN. My body really isn't great at giving up those pg hormones. The same happened last time

Hope you're all well Smile

flippineck · 30/08/2011 21:59

Just a quickie, sorry - just in case you haven't seen on FB, baby boy arrived yesterday evening! All well.

Blottedcopybook · 30/08/2011 22:35

Congrats again!

belgina · 01/09/2011 19:50

I've sent my congrats in various other places already, but here's another one! And also a bit thumbsup to your DH. I bet he needed at least one of Wine these, but preferably something even stronger!

yankeedoodledo · 07/09/2011 21:10

Just coming on to say a long-delayed hello! I do miss this thread. Our 'little' MN group was so personal and felt so much more conversational than on FB and twitter. But the latter two are so instant and that is all I've had time for lately, so just want to say sorry for losing touch a bit lately. x

Otherwise, congratulations to flip. I saw your happy news on FB and am so pleased for you. Your pics are beautiful and you look fabulous! (don't know how she does it!)

Ses, hope your appt went ok.
Belg, hope you're feeling better.

I haven't gone back a page to catch up yet on anything else so everyone else, hope you're well.

How are your 2yo? H is well, going through much tantrumming I'm afraid to say. I think a lot of it is because she's very constipated much of the time. I've taken her to the gp but nothing seems serious so we've got her on the occasional lactulose, watching her veg/fruit intake and water consumption. this week was the worst as her tummy cramps have made her nearly unbearable. You know, that low-grade constant whine but I know it's because she has the cramps so I've got to be sympathetic.

Someone said try prunes - any other remedies/advice/similar experience I'd love to hear about it!

I'll try to come back more often. Meanwhile, take care everyone. x

yankeedoodledo · 07/09/2011 21:13

pika, an extra note to say I hope your dad is feeling better.

belgina · 08/09/2011 08:34

Yankee. Just to quickly reply. With my dd1 I had a constipation problem at the time of potty training. I had this fig syrup for her from the supermarket. The name escapes me, but it had fig in the name and was in the pharmacy section. She quite liked it. She also drank prune juice, which looks brown and yukky, but which she also liked.
My ds's constipation at a slightly younger age was linked yo dehydration as he barely drank. I had to actively encourage him to drink. So keeping an eye on her fluid intake might be worth it Smile
Gotta go now. School run time!

yankeedoodledo · 08/09/2011 14:17

Belgina, thanks so much! I will look for the fig syrup/prune juice see how that goes. I'll get a drink over to her right now. Hope all doing ok in school.
x

belgina · 08/09/2011 15:40

Califig! That's what it wascalled!

yankeedoodledo · 08/09/2011 20:05

Great! I can remember that. thanks. x

stamped · 09/09/2011 19:43

Hello all!

Long time, eh? I have caught up with most of you through other means but hope everyone is well overall

This is the name I'm going to use on here from now on - if you don't remember who I used to be or don't get it from what I write, PM me and I'll tell you!

I didn't have a fun summer overall, tbh. Had a knee operation, will need another in the new year. Trying to look after a 2 yo while not able to walk properly or bend at all - fun fun fun Grin

The 2 year old himself has come on leaps in bounds. Is not talking ALL THE TIME and very well. It's amazing how there talking often takes off just after they turn 2 - same happened with DD. His comprehension has been great for a while, but it was only saying a few words here and there, and then he went from single words to full, (almost) properly constructed sentences.

In fact his first sentence ever was a good 'un. The HV came round to do his 2 year check and asked about his talking. I had to inform her that he'd said his first sentence just a few days ago. As we walked past his room, DH and I had seen DS throw something from his cot across the room towards his sister. "DS," we said, "did you throw that?"
Quick as a flash, DS shook his head and said "no, sister did it" Grin

Today when I came downstairs in a nice top, he said "you look pretty, mummy". And when I thanked him, he said "you're welcome, mummy."

stamped · 09/09/2011 19:46

TheMitfordsMaid · 09/09/2011 22:11

Hello Mayers. Long time no see!

Like stamped DS has suddenly starting churning out words and sentences. I think he has been quietly taking it all in, and shocked me the other day by naming shapes, letters and counting. Just a few months ago I had an appointment with the HV because I was so concerned by his lack of speech, so I am chuffed with his decision to speak. Unfortunately he has also started having tantrums to rival his brother and he has a real naughty streak which has taken me by surprise.

DS1 starts reception on Monday and DS2 started ore-school last week so I shall probably spend next week sobbing with my feet up. If only! We are very busy business wise and I'm enjoying it, but feeling like I need a few more hours in the day.

So happy to see flippineck's news, it is so lovely to hear how our little families are growing. I hope you are all well.

pikachu999 · 12/09/2011 20:06

Hello ladies,

stamped - I think i know who you are, but might need to PM you to make sure (have we met in RL?)

No proper sentences from DS2 here but he can copy words and has clearer diction than DS1 who is having a visit at school from speech and language in a couple of months to see if he's improving (he seems to be getting worse Hmm).

yankee- my dad is doing well thanks Smile. I saw him yesterday. He has no hair at all, and has lost a lot of weight and is tired most of the time, but his skin looks clear so hopefully the radiotherapy has killed off his lymphoma - he has a review on Friday to see if it has worked.

My DD used to get terrible constipation - the GP advised us to give her lactulose and we also gave her prunes. She still gets very moody before a bowel movement and her behaviour also is terrible when she needs to go...

I am feeling like a very bad mum tonight Sad. We took DD and DS1 for their dental check up today (they usually get very good comments on their teeth) but DD needs a filling, and is booked to have her fissures sealed to prevent further decay and DS1 also has some decalcification and will have his fissures sealed. The dentist isn't sure yet if he will need to give DD a local, and I am dreading it and feel terrible that i haven't looked after her better and that this might be very traumatic for her. As a child I hated visiting the dentist (after dental trauma aged 9) and feel bad that she has to experience treatment at such a young age. Their diet is reasonable but we have not been so thorough with teeth cleaning lately. I am very Blush about tooth decay at ages 6 and 4, and DS2 is booked in for his first proper appointment soon and I am dreading that too as he has a lot of fruit juice...

ReeBee · 14/09/2011 23:24

ahem
Blush

Hi ladies, guess who's only just discovered the MN app?

Hope you're all well, have read a couple of pages and nice to see some familiar names at least.

Didn't feel like I could trawl the site without saying hello, and am planning to be back regularly for actual conversation.

PS I mean regularly and with a frequency of more than once a year...

runningmonkey · 16/09/2011 19:03

Hello! just about getting some evening back so bookmarking for a proper catch up soon. Hope all well x

smokeybacon · 16/09/2011 20:57

missed you all but have prob with bottom of phone that makes posting here quite hard but for some reason fb is ok. apart from uploading pics. I have said it before but I will try harder to get here more often.in the meantime mwah mwah. it's wine time here now Grinall four fast asleep GrinGrinGrin

smokeybacon · 16/09/2011 20:59

Oops that should have read running and flipBlusham getting the new mummies confused < permanent baby brain here>

stamped · 16/09/2011 21:04

smokey - I was hoping to see you on here, I have a tale to tell you!

There was a Chat thread I was reading a few weeks ago about whether posters were happy with their lot in life. There was a post by streakybacon.
As, like you, her name was all in lowercase and the first word started with 's' and ended in 'y', I just assumed it was you.

But as I read the post, I was Hmm

Because she was saying that they could only afford a holiday once a year and never went aboard

And right at that very time, your FB status was saying you were abroad Grin

And she was talking about her 'little' family, which made me go Hmm as well Grin

I wondered why you were downplaying your size of family and lifestyle, and considered jokingly calling you on it. But something felt odd, it didn't seem like your style, and it was only after a while that I twigged!

yankeedoodledo · 17/09/2011 16:04

hi all!

SESthebrave · 17/09/2011 17:33

Hi! Great to see some recent chat on here. I manage to keep up with most of you via FB or Twitter but sometimes it's not quite the same!

Yankee - I think I'd keep the appointment if I were you. Sod's law would be that you cancel and then the problem returns.
Hope you manage to achieve a bit more of what you need to today.

Pika - I agree with Yankee. Please don't be too hard on yourself.
O isn't speaking in loads of sentences yet - his main ones seem to include bthe word "too"! "Mummy in the car too", "I love Mummy / Daddy too". I expect next week it will be something else!

Hello running, Stamped, Smokey, ReeBee, Flip, Belgina, Mitford and anyone else lurking!

My news - and I guess the reason for posting here rather than FB or twitter - is that I got a BFP yesterday morning. I feel rather "eek" about it. Obviously please and excited but this is now my 5th pregnancy and my odds aren't good Hmm I also have my follow up appointment from the karyotype testing done after the last mc. The good news is that it all came back normal. The letter said "normal female karyotype" so I was :) at normal and :( at female. (Not because it said female rather than male you realise but because it made me imagine my baby girl).
Anyway, I can only see what they say on Monday and take a day at a time I guess! The frantic knicker checking has started and I bought another 4 HPTs today. Somehow though I need to try not to obsess and just continue on with life as "normal"!

ReeBee · 17/09/2011 20:00

ses - exciting news, and everything crossed that this time things stay okay. Lots of positive thoughts being sent your way.

Yankee is H v constipated? I would keep the appt too if I were you, F can go for days with nothing and also gets very cross (not to mention red-faced) when he's trying. Lots of "go AWAY, Mummy"...

pikachu don't feel bad, we had F's 1st appt this week and he too has the beginnings of a tiny hole. At 2.3. Not good. The dentist advised us to use adult toothpaste if he'll tolerate it to help. Mind you, I've looked for this hole and can't see a thing. She said I'd be able to see it - we did take him straight from nursery where he'd just been eating sticky raisins and was very wiggly for the dentist, plus we're scrupulous about tooth cleaning so I guess I'm hoping that the dentist's tiny beginning of hole is actually F's tiny piece of raisin???!

PS pikachu, do we know each other or have you joined since I went AWOL (a loong time ago)?

And, typing updates on my phone is tedious in the extreme!

News from the Bee household- F is fab, cheeky and naughty and utterly delightful. Still the only one and no plans for more. Am still working away every other mon-thurs, very tricky (but I do love my job...) and definitely a factor in what seems to be the breakdown of my marriage. Am fine without sympathy, all the emotional stuff happened over the course of the last 9 months, just need to start the practical now ie get off my bum and move out and on.

Anyone potty training their DS of F's age? Don't think he's quite ready yet although will wee on toilet - and even ask to go - sometimes.

That's quite enough from me, bedtime run now and wine plus x factor as a reward. Happy Saturday!

TheMitfordsMaid · 17/09/2011 21:05

ReeBee, G runs around naked a lot of the time and will use the loo. His older brother taught him how to aim down the loo and they spend quite a lot of time giggling in there comparing aims. I've tried him with pants but he just uses them like nappies and given that he has just started nursery, I've decided to let him off for a bit. I think we'll go for it at half term.

Fingers crossed for you Ses, I'll be thinking of you.

belgina · 18/09/2011 10:36

ses. I'm keeping my fingers doubly crossed for you. I bought some Ebay cheapies to use as HPT as it was costing me a fortune. I paid about £3 for 20 of them or something. They're just a paper strip, like we use in hospital. It's saved me quite a lot of money.

reebee welcome back. Glad you're all well Smile. Sorry to hear about your marriage.

mitford. My ds was the same in potty training. I tell everyone I know not to bother with pants during that time. Saves loads of washing!

yankee glad the constipation is better. As You've got an app't, you might just as well keep it

pickachu. Don't worry too much about the cavities. My eldest 2 have some too. It's not easy brushing toddler teeth.

All OK here. Finally had a neg pg test, so we can start TTC again.

Work is quite stressfull at the mo. We're moving to another new hospital building and joining our sister hospital. The move is the most badly organised thing ever and I still don't know where I'll be, when I'm working the week after next and they've decided that there's no car parking for staff moving next week, so they want us to park at the old hospital and then take a shuttle bus from there to the new place, which in my case would mean a 3-4h round trip, which I am NOT doing. I'd rather quit! In fact I'm seriously feeling like either drastically reducing my hours or stopping all together as I want to stop having aps and I find it hard to fit in the dcs after school clubs etc also big sigh

TheMitfordsMaid · 18/09/2011 11:54

Flipping heck, reeves, I missed that bit last night. So sorry to hear your news about your marriage. I know you said no sympathy, so I shall respect that. We can be amazingly strong, I think, as women, and I know that you are too.
