okay i've given up trying to catch up!

well the trip went okay except we got back yesterday on the back of a lorry! the electrics in the car went so we had to be brought home, we got back in at 2.30am ahhh so tired. took it to the garage today to get fixed and £750 later its in full working order!

SIL behaved really badly whilst we were there and i think step-fil was none to impressed with her so maybe he will give her a serf, she was due to comme around one day at 3pm but turned up just before dinner at 6.40pm (both our dd's go to bed at 7!). and then the next day she didn't ahve to be in work until 2pm so we were invited round to her house but we were not to turn up before 10am and she was meeting her idiot boyfriend for lunch at 12!! and we were quite definealty not invited! i have now just had enough of her and have enough on my plate without having her to think about.

seeing my mum and having a few days of rest has lifted my mood so i'm hoping the last few weeks were just normal baby blues and not full blown PND. i'm feeling okay today and i will see how i go over the next fews weeks, but thanks for all your support.

love to all

Hi ladies

Just catching up with a large glass of wine in hand - dh has been in London and is late coming home because he fancied a pint, so think I shall join in with the impromptu boozing. Not much to report here, having a lazy half term, dh has been off all week apart from today. We're doing Legoland tomorrow (have been promising ds all summer) so think of me queueing for rides in the drizzle.

Am trying to gear myself up to book a babysitter for next week. I signed up with Sitters again (we used them when ds was a baby before I joined a babysitting circle) and the registration has just come through - too late for our wedding anniversary, but an M&S ready meal did us nicely, how sad are we after 8 years. Am desperate for a night out with dh, but feeling very wobbly about leaving dd (ds I'm used to leaving behind for the evening, usually at an indecent speed as I leg it towards the booze...)

RHM, poor you - what a fright, are you OK this evening? Was she gone for long or don't you remember? It is the worst feeling in the world. I lost ds once in a leisure centre and they locked the centre down until he was found, I just ran around shouting Lost Child! which I remembered reading was the thing to do. He'd locked himself in the gents loo.

Katz, glad you had a good time, and that you're feeling 'up' for seeing your mum. Sorry to hear about your car though, not least the £750 part.

Charley, hope you're doing OK, are you going to see the HV tomorrow? They aren't always the most helpful I know, but sounds like you have an all right one.

Coop, good to see you back, hope you're doing OK at home alone. When is your dh likely to have to do another long stint away? Here's hoping it's penguin spotting in the Falklands or somewhere equally boring.

EYM, hope you get a new hospital appointment soon. THat's appalling, really. My mum works in a paediatric department and she is so frustrated by the way they are driven by waiting lists and targets etc, they are constantly under pressure to bring them down and frankly find ways to fiddle them. I gather that the current target is on referrals from outside the hospital, ie from GPs, so if you feel you're waiting too long again then get your GP back on the case. And complain officially, if they think you're likely to make a big stink they'll find a way to accommodate you.

Trib, your ds is clearly a genius. DD has not yet progressed beyond dribbling on the keyboard (and may or may not be responsible for the yellow stripe that now runs down one side of the screen...)

Right, well I have tried to scan the rest of the posts but I keep getting distracted by the words 'penis hoopla'. So I hope the rest of you are doing OK too. Off to sort out some supper before this wine goes to my head too much.

foundintranslation · 27/10/2005 20:50

evening all.
rhm - poor you, that must have been a real shock.
katz - sorry to hear about the car.
lynny - thinking of you. x
trib - I can speak Babyese and can confirm that his message reads 'hello junies! trib is the best mummy ever'
Back felt temporarily better today, so after teaching decided to enjoy the weather (it was 23 degrees over here today!) and go for a walk with dh and ds. by the end of it was hobbling and having to stop and rest all the time though. Think it is marginally better overall than yesterday though. Have orthopaedist's appt tomorrow am.

bubbaloo · 27/10/2005 21:35

redheadmum · 28/10/2005 13:17

she was gone for quite a w hile 20 mins before she was found- and quite unconcerned too! I was OK once I found her but burst in to tears when I told dH about it last night. It was really upsetting....I was verging on hysteria at the time, but tried not to let it take over as I had to be sensible to sort it out iyswim

btw forget to mention that my ds can roll from front to back!

going to cinema in a minute - wallace and gromit - first trip with Dd am soooo excited! (not sure she is tho!)

welshmum · 28/10/2005 16:18

RHM - do let me know what dd thought of the film - I think ours are roughly the same age (3 and a half??) I'd like to take her to see it but only if it's not too scary.
Hope you're over her going missing -you poor thing it must have been awful.
EYM - glad the solids are going well - it feels like such a step forward. Ds is also big into his rolling - can't be left anywhere now.
Mrs FP - we use sitters too and are off on Saturday night - I've got 'Broken Flowers' and a glass of wine pencilled in. The Odeon is about 5 mins walk so I never feel too bad about going out
I'm just back from 'big town' and a wool buying expedition to John Lewis as I've really got into the knitting. All the nieces and nephews are having home knitted hats for Christmas - we will be an extended family of oversize tea-cosy wearers - but cute too I hope

welshmum · 28/10/2005 16:20

P.S. My energy levels are extraordinarily high (considering) - the mercury I suppose - feels a bit wierd having so much oomph.

Cooperoo · 28/10/2005 18:16

Hello all
Red - How scary for you. So glad everything turned out OK and hope you enjoy the cinema.
I took dd1 to the park today (just a small playpark on camp) and lost sight of her a scary amount of times whilst attending to dd1. I wouldn't have worried so much but one of the gates was broken and so she could have slipped off. It is ridiculously easy to 'lose' them. DD1 has reins on when I am pushing the pram and I wouldn't be without them because although she is generally very good at walking with me she still has a tendancy to lose concentration or try to run off .
Well I have got through another day! It feels very satisfying when the day is over. I got a lot of the paperwork done for our move too which involved visiting three offices on camp so that was good although I didn't manage to get to the garage on time. They were shut at 1pm and I have no idea what theri opening times are. This whole place stops at 1300 and I am still not used to it.
I am in the middle of a mammoth Amazon shop to finish off the Christmas shopping. I am looking forward to not having to consider the postage of items when trying to choose Christmas presents next year, and more importantly the chance to go shopping. I have no inspiration out here as we don't even have adverts on the TV. This is not something I would normally complain about.
I am hoping just to put Christmas back for the dd's. We are due to fly on the 14th Jan and all our stuff will go at the end of November so we will not have many Xmas presents for the girls. I am buying books and a DVD each. Then dd2 will get a Leapstart activity table thing (dd1 loved it at toddlers but we didn't get her one) and so we will have to get dd1 something good too, probably something for the garden. It is hard not to spend too much money. Anyway I am rambling and no doubt very boring. Can you tell I am missing some adult conversation ? I haven't been able to speak to dh since Tues so I am talking everything through with you instead lol. Sorry .

Cooperoo · 28/10/2005 18:22

I forgot to tell you about my fab night out go-carting last night. It was such fun, if a little scary. We had some really good races. DD2 came with me and so we put her in the clubhouse asleep. She woke up once and so I gave her a feed and then she went back to sleep again. Fab! We had pizza and half a glass of bubbly to as it was my friends 40th and I really really enjoyed myself. It was such a lovely bunch of people too....and we were all obviously sober .

foundintranslation · 28/10/2005 19:20

Ooh, Xmas shopping! Did a bit today - bought some really nice mini-albums into which I'll put photos of ds. Also bought a lovely pull-along thing for ds for Xmas - can be a boat, plane or 'car' and has really nice figures in it.
The orthopaedist thinks I have a trapped nerve and has prescribed heat treatment and massage - sounds like bliss but I actually don't like being massaged . Otherwise, warm baths and draught avoidance (Germans are, in general, obsessed with draughts).

Cooperoo · 28/10/2005 20:04

Fit - Glad you have some constructive treatment for your bac, even if you won't enjoy it. Hope it works quickly!!!

Cooperoo · 28/10/2005 20:05

back

Skyler · 28/10/2005 20:10

It is me Coops. What do you think of my new name. I wanted something very anonymous. What does it make you think of?

redheadmum · 28/10/2005 21:30

just a quickie

Welsh - Dd did n't really enjoy the movie, she did more or less sit through it....but the story line mostly went over her head ...though my mates kid exactly same age absolutely loved it. I think though Dd would enjoy something more disney/princessy will try again at Christmas!

got to go kids call

eastyorksmum · 28/10/2005 22:53

Coops lol sklyer reminds me of flying

Anyway you chat way, hugsss its great that you had a good nite with your friends, and your doing really well with two little ones bless.

wow christmas i havnt even thought of that, ive got my siteres wedding in two weeks in Wales, my friend came down the other day and asked what i wanted her to buy will for christmas i havnt even thought myself, although i do like the peek a boo blocks.

Im just getting ready for my big ann summers party in Bevererly lol 20 girls ive just been making up names for each one of them, and deciding which games were playing. Were going to try pin the willy on the man lmaooooooo blindfolded i wont say ahem whos blindfold.

so wish me luck lol nite xxxxxxx

foundintranslation · 29/10/2005 09:56

Skyler/coop - it makes me think of kites flying in a blue sky

Skyler · 29/10/2005 13:22

Ok, me again. Bored. Missing adult company. Only two weeks to go .
Actually I have a friend coming round tonight so that will be good. I am looking forward to it. I have nearly finished my Christmas shopping now with a big Amazon order and a small ELC one. Actually the ELC order is for dd's birthday (not until March ) because they do a keyboard that we were going to get her and it is in the sale at the moment so I had to grab it to be sent to my Mums.
The more I think about it the more I feel the dd's will have a boring Christmas here. All dd1's presents are books or small games as we need to be able to get them back to the UK and dd2 only has a couple of cloth books so far . Not sure she will really mind though until she looks back at the video footage of dd1's first Christmas with LOADS of presents and compares it with her first Christmas. Oh dear . Do you other second timers feel the same way?
Right off for more 'quality time' with the dd's.
Byeeeee

Skyler makes me think of the girl that Will Hunting fell in love with in Good Will Hunting, Minnie Driver's character. Lovely name

Skyler · 30/10/2005 05:51

Morning,
I think I will keep the name.
Lippy - I first heard the name on Good Will Hunting and really liked it but DH wasn't as keen (too unconventional for him!) so didn't get to use it for the babies, so I thought it could be me instead!
Where is Teabelly by the way?
Red- How are you getting on with your man away in Japan?
Mrs F - I don't expect DH to go away for a while really, but you never know. I hope he will only go one more time in the next 9 years so it is really not that bad for his trade. 1000 x better than the Army bless them and their families.
Right am aiming to stop the me me me posts for this week and have a new resolution to make notes. I woke in the night thinking I had forgotten to type something important to one of you, but have since forgotten again. Sigh.
Lynny - So glad your appt went so well. I presume this means no surgery then. That is great. What a relief for you. I have just noticed that I am halfway to touch typing through being on here so much. That is a positive side effect of Mumsnet if nothing else is.

Skyler · 30/10/2005 06:33

I remembered.
Kat - Wowee on your dd sitting up. How exciting. Hope you are doing OK at the moment.
Charley - Did you see your HV. Thinking of you too.
Right off to attend to my girls. We are all still in our dressing gowns and I am seriously comtemplating not bothering to dress the girls today....although I will make an effort as I have washing to hang out and don't want everyone to realise how slovenly I am being .
