think if we met up i'd be the one in the corner, i struggle to start up conversation but fine when i get started and much better on a phone. Think thats due to my job. I previously worked with people with mental health problems. I love learning new things and helping people.

Chulita · 22/01/2011 15:51

cake I did taekwondo for a bit at the Lions club in St albans. The main bloke, Mr Snow, felled my DH with an axe kick to the head during a sparring session. That was a very good club. The kickboxing club we went to was run by a pair of jokers but the phys was good, I don't reckon there's any fitness quite like martial arts fitness!

memphis forgot to say that I have a whole cupboard full of Lock&lock plastic boxes. I love 'em. When we meet up we can share favourites Grin

stac I could hold what feels like a two-way conversation with an inanimate object so you'd be alright :)

tsc that kitchen sounds massive! We've got a kitchen/utility room that a good size but nowhere near that big. I love have more space to play in the kitchen though.

Woodlands · 22/01/2011 16:04

I'm a bit scared of meeting tsc. I reckon she'd give me a withering look and talk to someone more interesting.

I've given up trying to make James keep socks on - I only put them on just before we go out and take them off him when we get to places, kind of like I do with mittens. He doesn't seem bothered by cold feet, and bare feet will be better anyway once he's learning to crawl and to walk.

DesperateHousewife20 · 22/01/2011 16:24

Ive got a Dunelm Mill near me, I got Dylan a storage box there.
They also do really cheap curtains.

Im talkative in RL if Im around the right people and I def dont act/sound/behave like a 20 year old.
Im v mature Grin

memphis83 · 22/01/2011 17:04

cakes i have a hige frame with about 30 different shaped mounts in it i plan to fill and get a radiator cover to make that side of the kitchen look like a dining area, i bought some fabric called afternoon tea, its got teapots and plates and with stripes and flowers, polka dots and stuff on it in mint, mainly with lots of other colours in it inc deep puple, it looks lovely i will make blinds that dont function just for show and on the side window i will get that frosting for the glass so its still covered up then i will have that windowsil to fill with bits and the shelf on the radiator cover once i buy one, got a chopping board in same colours i want some unusual little frames and need a rectangular table it will ake time but im actually excited about it we will stay here at least a year, i will also do bunting the length of the room!!our dunelm mill is 20 mins away is huuuuuge got a lovely coffee shop in it with leather sofas in it!

mlic what crafty hobby do you have that you can't start? We had a small kitchen in our first house and I'm glad we moved, we had to go down the hall, through the living room into the dining room and it made feeding L a right mission cos there was no room in the kitchen for her. Both the last houses have had kitchen-diner type which is brilliant.
I don't have a hobby really, I only Xbox once in a blue moon, I'm currently halfway through knitting the back of a jumper for S but it's taken me 4 months to get to this stage, I don't have time for exercise classes with S's feeding patterns, no point in decorating someone else's house and I have no eye for it anyway.

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 22:26

i just tried a delia recipe for pizza dough instead of the nigel slater one i usually use and it was seriously good - like almost the best pizza ever. Girl power, go Delia!

did also use my new pizza stone which may have played a part too tho.

hobby/interest-wise: my main one is photography but i would like to do something else more arty too when i have more time as i feel like i've got lots of creative kind of thoughts churning around all the time.

kitchen-wise: ours is in the basement so is a longish kitchen/utility which is also big enough for a table. it's my little empire - the children and i spend most of the time we're indoors there actually as it's easy access to tea and food and felix has a big toy-box and all his craft stuff down there! we only really use the sitting room in the evenings and weekends when dh is here. we had it all redone whilst i was pg with aurelia and it's now pretty much my dream kitchen. Smile

oh and i just bought a waffle maker and plan to make a new tradition of haaving waffles plus various sauces for sundays breakfasts.

mlic you sooo need to out that shit of dh's!

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 22/01/2011 22:36

mlic we have a galley kitchen too, it's not too bad if we keep the surfaces clear but it can get cluttered v quickly when cooking. It always feels a bit crowded if dh and I are in there are the same time though.

We do have a playroom though to store all the crap stuff that the kids have.

cake I got dh a pizza stone for Christmas as he is really into cooking and he got me a football book as I am into football...role reversal Grin

WhatSheSaid · 22/01/2011 22:38

Oh and appearance wise (as you were all giving details earlier in thread) I'm about 5 foot and about 2 stone heavier than I was before I had kids (Sad)

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 22:52

wss ooh (and woo) i don't know anyone else with a pizza stone! Grin has he used it yet? if so did he think it improved his pizzas?

it's bugging me now that i don't know if it was the recipe or the stone that made the difference, oh and i also think i've got a better stretching technique down too.

great controlled experiment, cake Hmm

any ideas for waffles sauces for tomo anyone? am thinking maple syrup (yum), sweet freedom (which sounds like a panty liner but is actually fruit syrup), i would have done berries but i can't eat them whilst bf and no-one else much likes them. hmm, chocolate maybe?

darn it, wish i hadn't used up all the bananas on the children now as they'd have been nice.

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 22/01/2011 22:59

He hasn't used it yet but last time he did make pizzas (just before xmas) he was muttering that they would taste much better made on a proper pizza stone, hence me getting it for him. I think the ones he makes taste great already - he's a better cook than me. I like baking but cooking meals bores me a bit.

WhatSheSaid · 22/01/2011 23:01

Oh and I've just realised that my in laws arrive in LESS THAN 2 WEEKS! For a 6 week visit! Tho not with us for whole 6 wks

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 23:06

6 weeks - gosh! do you get on with them?

well tell your dh to test his please and then i won't need to recreate the exact conditions of my previous pizzas but with the stone so i know the cause!

i like cooking and baking which is just as well as otherwise we'd starve as dh cooks for us about twice a year! he's a brill tea-maker tho even tho he doesn't drink it himself, even makes it in the pot just for me. Smile

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 22/01/2011 23:09

Oh they're OK, they love the kids and all that (only grandchildren). They're just a bit snobby and hard work sometimes.

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 23:16

tis amazing what you can put up with from anyone if they love your children, isn't it? Smile

i actually feel a warm glow towards (my previously diskliked) mil when i see her making my two giggle.

Grin at "6 weeks I'd kill myself"

They're usually only with us 4 or 5 days at a time e.g. Fri - tues, then they go off somewhere else in the country for a few days then back to us for the next w/end etc.

They are also buggering off to Fiji for a week in the middle of the 6 weeks (lucky sods).

I do get on with them better since we had the dcs and mil does adore the kids but we are completely opposite in opinions etc. Last time she was here she was asking about "how many Muslims we had living near here, not too many I hope" Hmm Hmm Hmm

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 23:38

me eating berries gives A horrific trapped wind. funnily enough F won't touch strawberries so maybe he knows something.

glad you had a good day - you deserved one
