Noooo... Don't do the North and South at the same time. I'd be torn as I could get to either, being half-way up the country!! Manchester is easy for me to get to and my inlaws are up in Northumberland so I can get up that way as well.

Oh, and you're not the only one, Chulita, I've never been drunk either. I've never been a particularly big drinker, most I manage is a glass of wine with dinner! Though I do like a small glass of port during the evening on occasion, preferably with some cheese and biscuits... (I really am only 28!)

From your comment in the old thread, I'm also a bit worried about standing in the corner eyeing the doorway during a meetup... Though partially because I fear the evil glares I'll be getting for M's sleeping habits!

I love my Xbox360, Stac. Grin I normally play jRPGs on there, an hour or two a night after M settles. I have a DS, but I haven't used it much recently. Once I start getting the bus back to work I suspect it'll get used more. Just managed to persuade DH that we really need a PS3 too... [geek]

So, what's everyone up to this weekend? No major plans here, just about to go brave a supermarket for some essentials. (Though trialling Ocado next Wednesday! [irrationally excited]) Then I guess it's back to reorganising/childproofing my house...

memphis83 · 22/01/2011 09:09

i think to meet we would need to have a date set at least 12 weeks before as tsc earlier booking of trains makes it cheaper
tsc not bringing babies? maybe the ones with babies left at home would end up getting pissed and crawling the bars til the early hours!!
spirael i dont think i will be childproofing the house the way our stairs are set we cant have stair gates and we have a brick fireplace, and while pg i stupidly bought a chrome and glass tv cabinet!!!

ah but you haven't met me in RL, my dear.

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 10:04

just had two thoughts:

  1. threads like this and the subsequent meetup/s would make a great book or film
  1. only just realised that our personalities might not be how they come across on here, altho i think mine is pretty much how I come across on here - or is it?

which famous person/character would you compare yourself to personality-wise?

I've been told (lots) that i have a healthy dose of Friends-Monica altho deffo have some woo aspects from Phoebe too.

(you don't have to stick to Friends characters btw before someone gets left with Marcel Grin)

im a bit like fearne cotton apparently hopefully without the annoying voice! can be known to dress a bit strange, likes the tattoos and she is slightly obsessed with baking but when i get angry im like the incredible hulk!! i dont let things drop...ever, but hoping that might be a bit of PND? cant think of a person like this but im always right....ALWAYS Grin

memphis83 · 22/01/2011 10:20

oh and cakes on the kitchen i have neutral tiles on the floor, white units and all my jars etc are white, i have grotty office type blinds on sash effect windows which i want to change and have got a huge frame i want to fill with pics, i do have a chicken egg crock like from the program Bread which i love!! its very plain so i could do anything really, could pain one wall at a push and i want new table as i hate the cheap ass one we have, dont like flower patterns but like polka dots was thinking mint and lemon jars etc but then couldnt get any!!! im rubbish at this

I cant think of anyone I'm like. Friends say i am honest and loyal but i do have a temper. On here i think more about what i am writing than if it was coming out my mouth lol. Defo have a serious dose of puting my foot in it but can keep secrets. To be honest think i am very mixed bag Smile

Spirael · 22/01/2011 11:06

I use Sock-On's with M, Cake. They work pretty well, though if determined enough she can remove them. Somehow she managed to remove the Sock-On but not the sock yesterday (no idea how). I only put her socks back on two or three times during the day though now, rather than two or three times an hour.

For similarities, my 'friends' have compared me to Moaning Myrtle from the Harry Potter films... Though just for appearance, they assure me. Hmm Wink

Personality-wise I have no idea... I am a force unto myself. Grin A tabletop roleplaying, cos-playing, jeans wearing, console gaming, PC building, comic reading, curry eating, picture drawing, home baking, car repairing, fem-geek!

... So a bit of a freak of nature, really. Blush

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 12:02

you do sound a bit of a mix-up there spirael Grin

i guess i'm a bit the same (but different) in that I initially seem all feminine (rarely go out without makeup, love dresses and pretty prints) and into domestic goddessy stuff but am a total feminist and I'm also v geeky with my IT job and I'm as happy with a screwdriver as i am with a wooden spoon Smile.

I was even more of a mix-up before I stopped martial arts as then i was a kick-boxing vegan pacifist Grin

watch it memphis i have a slight girl-crush on Fearne Shock

will have a ponder about your kitchen

i'm the opposite to you mlic as i'm argumentative (called healthy debate in this house) but not stubborn. and i'm not at all shy so make new friends all the time but am then v disloyal Wink

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 12:07

oh and what are you all most intrigued to find out about the others?

I'm desperate to see if tsc is as bawdily witty in RL as she is on here Grin

do you have a dunhelm mill shop near you then memphis? what's it like?

if you're going to move house soonish then it's deffo worth just getting accessories you love that you can take with you without spending much/anything on the kitchen/decor itself

f you like lots of colour then you could afford to go mad with all that white/cream.

you then just need to decide what 'look' you fancy eg : chintzy, contemporary or kitsch for instance - you can make any of these work with lots of bright, clashing accessories against the white.

have you got/got room for shelves to display crockery etc?

e.g. if you went down the chintzy route then:

get a pretty colourful oilskin table cloth from somewhere like cath kidston

collect some vintage teacups and/or buy some mismatched new ones such as the totally lovely stuff from pipdesigns. saw some mismatched ones in next recently too (i don't normally like next interior stuff but they've got some nice stuff at the mo)

my fave thing in my kitchen (and this would suit lots of styles) is a massive, proper old enamel breadbin from a junk/antiques shop.

Lots of photos are always nice - we have tons everywhere except the bathroom! when they're going on a wall it works well if you group them in a style in some way - e.g. mismatched white frames; all black and white pics; or some kind of homage to a fave album or film or something (e.g. we have a large roughed-up frame in which we did our family (pre-aurelia) version of the Beatles Help album - will post a pic on fb if you like

if you have wall-space after all that then I'd buy or make something which represents you both - e.g. if you went down the chintzy route, I'd make up a vintage-looking picture of a teacup or pot with stylised image of a tattoo or a motorbike.

hope this helps Smile

Chulita · 22/01/2011 13:27

Aw spirael, I won't hold it against you that your little one sleeps :) I'm very envious of course but I'd never ignore someone on the basis of their children's sleeping habits! Grin What games do you play? I'm on the look-out for a good RPG at the mo

cake you did kick-boxing then? I used to be all martial artsy, did tae-kwon-do in Mexico and then kick-boxing, really want to get back into but not til I've had all four children the babies we want.

memphis I'm the same, I loathe the phone but will strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere about anything (and regularly do)

I can't think of anyone famous I'm like. But I do like to talk and love a good natter over a brew. I usually make friends easily and am very loyal. I tend to look people straight in the eye when I talk (my dad has told me to break eye contact but it just feels rude to me) so I think that's why some people think I'm intimidating and my 'normal' face looks either terrified or grumpy which is very funny cos I'm never terrified and very rarely grumpy. I just got unlucky I suppose!

Actually, I'm most like this famous person at the moment

CakeandRoses · 22/01/2011 13:58

yeah chulita i did mainly kick-boxing but also boxing, aikido (and a tiny bit of karate and taekwando), for about 15 years. i think i'll go back to it one day if i can find a good club nearby. I find most of them not hard-core enough after sweatbox i used to train in (which was run by an ex-bare fist fighting traveller!) Grin

I'm playing Magna Carta 2 currently, Chulita. It's ok... But the best RPGs I've discovered on the Xbox360 are Lost Odyssey and Resonance of Fate. Other ones I've played are FFXIII (linear, player optional), Eternal Sonata (on crack), Star Ocean - Last Hope (bus sized plot holes), Last Remnant (gay fest), Tales of Vesperia (what the hell hero) and Infinite Undiscovery (makes as much sense as the title).
