Thought we should have a post-natal thread so we can stay together from our ante-natal one. Technically, DD was a December baby after coming early on new years eve; hope you don't mind if I stay with the January group after all this time. How is everyone doing?

Not walking here yet but can stand alone and will not sit down if she can stand (bloody annoying)

REALLY looking forward to christams this year. DS is 4 and really believes in Father Christmas. Bless him, he is deparately tyring to be good so Santa comes - he's just swept the floor and wiped the table after lunch (it will have to be done a gain of course but you can't fault him for trying )

It will also be our last cold one - next year it will be Oz

blanchedevereaux · 15/12/2011 12:16

Hi guys,

Well little DD2 is still not really crawling at nearly 11 months let alone walking! DD1 was cruising everywhere by this age but DD2 is pretty happy to watch the world go by. The past week she has just begun to flop on her tummy and reach out for things so maybe she will be crawling by 2012!

Tbh, I'm pretty relaxed about it. At least she is where I put her still. DD1 has shared a few of her bugs with her so we seem to have a house of constant runny noses. 2 teeth here as well though we seems to have a lot of dribbling this week.

DD2 is still breastfeeding through the night. It's a pain but if we leave her she wakes DD1 and then we end up with both up. Going to send DH in to her between Xmas and New Year and not give in. Will take DD1 with me to the spare room. However, she is spectacularly unimpressed with food so sometimes I feel she does need a feed.

She starts nursery first week of Jan so that will be a big change for her as she is a real Mummy's girl.

Wishing you all a very Merry Xmas!

x

Hello Everyone,

Great to hear all your news and 'firsts' after the thread went quiet for a while.

We have 5 teeth and some cruising but no standing unaided or definite words. Finally got a rid of the night feeds, (sort of) routine now is bed at 6.30, bottle (stopped bf at 10 months when the top teeth arrived) between 5am & 6am and then back to bed till 7.30/8 which she usually does with no fuss. Which is amazing as she really seemed to regress sleeping wise when we started weaning. I must admit sheepishly that we did controlled crying which i know is a big nono on MN but it worked a treat for us, 3 nights of misery and then heavenly sleep and a much more content baby.

Almost jealous of those with a mummy's baby, ours a total social animal. Will actually push my head to one side so she can flirt with strangers behind me in a que. Have been back to work part time since beginning of Dec and DH's work is quiet over winter so he's stayed at home with her, didn't bother her a bit :( Although I was very happy when DH posted on fb that staying at home with DD is at least twice as tiring as going to work, sweet vindication!!!

DD also got her first sight of snow, (nonplussed) as we managed a weeks skiing. took my Mum along and she did a great job of entertaining DD while DH & I hit the slopes. Apartment was uber cheap but about the size of a shoe box so very pleased with DH managing to be so patient with his MiL in such close quarters all week, I couldn't do it with his Mother Hmm.

Wow an essay, have a wonderful Christmas everyone, especially those having their first as parents like us, so excited!

CadleCap · 24/12/2011 12:07

Merry Christmas everyone.

DD is getting a sock stuffed with newspaper as she has learnt to play the game - take things out and put them back Grin. Long may her tidying continue

WalkTheDog · 24/12/2011 22:14

aaaahhhhhh I had written quite bit and the thing went wonky!

Merry Christmas to everyone and to all the first christmas LOs (pretty sure our first baby was 31st). DD crashed at 9pm, which is rare for her, must be all the excitment - we saw Father Christmas today at our village party. Mince pie, whisky and carrot all set out above our stockings. DH and dog on watch on the sofa!

Will rewrite what I had written another night.

CadleCap · 01/01/2012 10:43

Can't believe DD is 1 today.

Happy New year to you all

pinkbuttons · 01/01/2012 18:38

Happy New Year everyone!! and Happy Birthday to your DD Cadlecap.

We have 2 more weeks till DS's birthday, and hes mostly getting left over christmas presents after I massively overbought for christmas. What are everyones plans for DC's first birthdays? Im happy to have family over but at the same time want it to be about DS and not sure a house full of ppl is what he would like.

Currently getting tooth number 7 and sleep is suffering badly, its his 5th tooth on top and still only has 2 on the bottom. Still not quite walking although venturing to take the odd step between furniture to walk along so dont think it will be long. Cant believe the first yr is nearly over!!

Got a little bit emotional on Christmas eve reminiscing about my pregnant Christmas last yr. Hope youve all had a lovely christmas and New YR and all the LO's are doing well.

x

sarrita · 01/01/2012 22:44

Happy New Year!!!

Oh it has been the longest time. Not been on here for ever, but thrilled to see that you are still active.

DD has no teeth, did her first free stand today, is not sleeping through, but is otherwise adorable.

I am planning her birthday tea for Tuesday and have been on the hunt for a low sugar chocolate cake. So I thought of you all as you will be planning too I imagine.

So here it is a low sugar chocolate cake . Best recipe I have found so far.

Will also have to ask you to forgive my rudeness, I will have a look back and see how you are all doing.

:)

WalkTheDog · 02/01/2012 16:29

Happy New Year!

Hope your DD had a good birthday cadlecap. sarrita Will have a look at the chocolate cake recipe (for me!).

We are planning on going to DH folks for a short while on DD birthday, if any of his family want to see us they can come there. Then home for a only DH, me, DD and dog.

Oh DD has woken will be back!

CadleCap · 02/01/2012 20:30

Sarrita How are things with D?H?

Blush I didn't bother with a low sugar cake - DD had an orinary cake - mind you she didn't really eat it, more crumbled it, smeared it then dropped it over the edge of the high chair

beatofthedrum · 03/01/2012 20:16

Hello everyone, so nice to all be reconnecting one year on :). Babies all sound funny and fantastic. Ds is too. He is wonderfully good-natured, a real smiler and chuckler. Standing alone, hoping first independent step might come on his birthday...! He's a very loving little thing, his big sis adores him and they play really happily together.

Hope all the birthdays go well. We're having a little family do with chocolate cake. Then is dd's birthday 2 weeks later, eek. Been thinking back a lot this week to this time last year and appreciating how great it feels to have no labour looming!

Enjoy all the celebrations :)

beatofthedrum · 07/01/2012 15:00

Ds's birthday. Feeling quite emotional my baby is growing up!

WalkTheDog · 08/01/2012 23:59

never did make it back on the other day!

Happy brithday LOs

hope your DS had a nice birthday beat and yep, DH and I have been remembering what it was like this time last year too.

cadlecap we are just having a supermarket cake. I had an idea of making one but in reality it ain't going to happen.

pink wow 7 teeth! DD has stuck at four. DId think next lot were coming in as she gave me two nips (did that when 4th teeth was coming in), but nope, she was just having 3 days of being very fussy, being even more clingy, even more frequent night wakenings.

We were at a family do today. What a hoot. DD was charging about, diving under tables, crawling under chairs, with her two 4 year old cousins in hot pursuit. She was laughing so much. She even sat on one of my BILS knees for a hug, which is a miracle.

She seems to have taken a huge leap over the past 2 weeks with her signing, mimicing sounds and talking. It is so much fun. Think the local sheep are getting used to her baaing very loudly at them Grin

Here's to another year with our boys and girls Grin

sarrita · 11/01/2012 16:52

DD sleeps and DS is watching CBebbies. Time to drop a line or too.

WalkTheDog Sounds like your DD is a little firecracker! Did you try the chocolate cake? Too dry for me, ended up with cream and butter icing which defeated the dairy free aspect of it! But I did make an excellent low sugar carrot and pineapple cake - very easy to make, and sweetened by the fruit. If anyone wants the recipe let me know.

cadle Still have ups and downs with H. We have been in an are-we-aren't-we limbo about emigrating to Canada which is driving me mad (he wants to go). And D doesn't look after the kids so is always critical. But occasionally seems appreciative. Hopefully things will be a bit easier now that DD is a bit older. Would love to find some work this year, but tricky if we are going to move (grrrrr)!

DD had two parties as I had to cancel the first due to high winds and agonising back pain. So she had the chocolate cake on her real birthday and the carrot one at her rescheduled party. She loves cake - who'd a thought it? Shock

beat feel the same about emotions. But also ridiculously glad not to be heavily pregnant over Christmas! Plus it was horrible with the snow and ice - not even a flurry this year, typical.

CadleCap · 13/01/2012 20:09

OMG! House contracts exchanged today - due to complete next Friday!

We will then be officially homeless and sofa surfing for 7 weeks until we emigrate to Oz!!

beatofthedrum · 13/01/2012 22:14

Omg cadle, you're really doing it!! Will it possibly be permanent?

CadleCap · 13/01/2012 22:25

Hopefully it will be a permanent move, but can't even think about that yet, head is too full of how I can gently persuade DH that he does not REALLLY need to ship 13 boxes (yes 13 big boxes) of f*cking football programmes half way around the world!!

pinkbuttons · 14/01/2012 23:50

Congrats Cadle!! Very exciting news!

Weekend of birthday celebrations are done after DS' birthday yesterday. V V emotional and he also decided to take his first steps last night on his birthday! Only 4 but think hes been saving them up to make a bit of a show. DS very unsure of presents and attention to start with but by tonight he was doing all his tricks to get some attention so think hes had a gd weekend as well even though hes had no idea what was going on.

Had quite a few no shows with pretty genuine excuses so thinking next time his birthdays on Friday the 13th we'll save his p;arty for the weekend after. Apart from that a great weekend and completely knackered!

Happy Birthday to all the babies!

WalkTheDog · 16/01/2012 00:13

that seems to have come around fast cadle, not long! When my friend emigrated to OZ I laughed so much at what she "had" to take. I arrived for a visit when her half cargo shipment had arrived and couldn't believe it, but it did make her feel very much at home. I have no idea what she has done with it all, as they had to clear the living room completely once their DS started walking.

sarrita haven't tried the chocolate cake yet. We had two supermarket cakes for all DH family. DD tried a bit of both, loved them. My brother was horrified when I told him that my DD had cake for her lunch (she did get offered a lunch but was climbing out of the chair), guess she was hungry by the time the cakes were cut. And yep, DD is quite a character. I think all our very difficult times are now being paid back many times over. She still doens't sleep well, is awake from 730am-10pm (at the earliest), with one nap, but is so much more happy and content. Hope you get things sorted re emigrating or not.

way to go your DS pink walking on his birthday.

beat DH and I got quie emotional over the weekend.

CadleCap · 20/01/2012 21:27

Am now homeless!

Living with FIL at weekends and SIL during the week. Kids (bless 'em) have been brilliant and have gone to bed like little lambs)

WalkTheDog · 26/01/2012 22:34

Your emigration must feel very real now cadlecap It will be nice for your inlaws to get some time with you and the kids before you leave.

DD had her jabs today, she seems not too bad, but has a red warm arm (like sunburn), odd, as her injections were all in her thighs.

I am so loving the stage DD is at, she is so affectionate. Kissing us, kissing her soft toys, getting us to kiss her toys. Grabbing as any as I can while they are freely on offer Grin

PelvicFloorOfSteel · 28/01/2012 22:18

Hello everyone, apologies for the long absence, the thread fell off my 'threads I'm on' as I hadn't posted for so long and I totally lost track of it.

cadle that's very exciting news!

Happy birthday babies. Grin

Poor DS2 had chickenpox over Christmas, we decided to let him have a few weeks to recover before his MMR and he has caught suspected Rubella (he's been swabbed so we will find out for certain eventually). The poor little chap has spots on the marks where his previous spots were. Sad

Fortunately his birthday fell in the between illness weeks so he did get to enjoy it, he has also developed a taste for cake! Grin

CadleCap · 28/01/2012 23:01

Our emigration hasn't actually hit me yet - it's very strange, might help when we actually book flights!(we didn't want to do that until we had the money from the house). DS (4.3) is being BRILLIANT - he is giving most of his toys away to his friends as we a "going to our new house in Libya" Confused

DD is being pretty good too, even although she has been preocupied growing all of her top teeth.

CadleCap · 05/02/2012 21:26

DD doing well
6 teeth now - 4 top, 2 bottom

She can stand really well and take a few steps but she just doesn't seem to want to walk, so crawling it is for now.

I have 4 more weeks of work left!

PelvicFloorOfSteel · 05/02/2012 22:30

DS2 isn't quite taking independent steps yet, he can walk if he's got something to hold onto and he can stand alone for a few seconds before falling on his (fortunately) well-padded bottom, but can't quite put it all together.

4 weeks will fly by! Do you know what you're going to be doing when you get to Australia yet?
