Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

newmum totally agree. Being a mom is hard enough without being judged about personal decisions. Unfortunately, we live in quite a judgmental world. Every mother & baby are different to the next and what works for one doesn't for the other. Thats what I have to try and think. Especially when people keep telling me that Harlyn should be doing this or you shouldn't be doing that, I just switch off now and make my own choices.

so, teething remedies! Any tried and tested advice?

newmum001 · 03/02/2011 20:26

Cinnamon i understand what your saying but comments like "why would you not even try to breastfeed, this woman sounds crazy" really get my back up. I just think that theres so much judgement on here (not our thread but MN in general) when in actual fact it is a choice that every woman is free to make for herself and her child and people judging one way or another is just really unnessacery!

I thought long and hard about breastfeeding and have very personal reasons why i chose not to. And comments like the above really piss me off cause it's like if you don't even give it a try you are in some way not human and you don't care!

I understand the original point was about the article and not about if it's right or wrong to FF but theres just sooooo many posts against formula feeding on here and most of those people are so judgemental i can't help but get upset by it!

SeaChelles · 03/02/2011 20:28

jodey - the doctor gave us a spray for teething - can't remember what its called now...but is in green bottle. we also use nelsons teething powders and anbesol (but dont rate this one). Olly also likes the water filled toys you put in fridge to cool. and mummy's finger to chew on.... Grin

newmum001 · 03/02/2011 20:30

Jodey - Dentinox and herbal powders (jordans i think) they sell them in tesco! Grace loves the powders she gets really giddy when she has one and they really seem to help!

newmum001 · 03/02/2011 20:30

Ahh yes, Nelsons not jordans!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2011 20:41

I used nelsons granules with ds1 too, no probs here so far apart from the constant dribbling and chomping on EVERYTHING. Not sure if it's just here but there is a trend now for these bins that look like a bandana. Ds1 was constantly soaked with dribble from 5-18months but I didn't want him to be in a bib all the time so just left him. These things look nicer than bibs with same function so might consider them.

SeaChelles · 03/02/2011 20:52

You mean bibs right cinammon?! Please don't put Luke in a bin! Hehehe Grin

beaditAli · 03/02/2011 20:53

Oh! newmum since it was me who made the comment that you repeated on here I spose I should say something but won't add fuel to the fire too much!!!
Just thought that a single lil go in hospital might have been a given. Jack is formula fed by the way and has been for ages so am totally not against woman who don't bf!!!!!!
I'm totally sure that you do care, as I do and in no way think you're not human!

Peace Out!

beaditAli · 03/02/2011 20:55

newmum001 · 03/02/2011 21:01

Beadit i didn't mean to just pick out what you said, maybe i shouldn't have done that but certain things really get to me and the whole BF/FF debate is one of them. I honestly didn't mean you when i said about people thinking it's not human to FF. I know you FF Jack and that you tried BF first. I think recently there has just been so many fueds on MN about it since the article etc and all i seem to have read are negative comments!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2011 21:10

This lady makes them, found her through a friend on facebook she makes lots of lovely bits.

I have almost eaten a whole bag of chocolate raisins SeaChelles, at the stage where I'm wondering if it's worth saving the rest!

SeaChelles · 03/02/2011 21:12

cinammon - i am nearly all out of jelly beans and plan to start on the super sour snakes in the next half hour. my new exercise dvds are on the way and as soon as they come thats it for the sweeties - am making the most of it!!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2011 21:16

DS1 had some haribos today and shared them out, he said everyone's had one now mummy. So I said no they haven't, he then said baby Luke can't have one, I said who else is here? His reply but you like chocolate and not sweeties Mummy! Obviously can't eat both!

FriggFRIGG · 03/02/2011 21:18

newmum this mum said to me she had wanted to BF but wouldnt simply because of the study...its the study that people are mad at,not ff mothers

feed your baby however you like, but i believe you should be able to make an informed choice, and the 'study' was giving false impressions of BFing.

beaditAli · 03/02/2011 21:18

ok.......... well I really don't get too fussed about what people say or do as I know I do what is right for me and for Jack and any comments either way are just comments to me so I let them do their thing and I do mine.
Unless someone is harming their baby then they're not doing much wrong are they? Even if it's different to the next person.
My comment was mostly in response to what frigg had witnessed.... which was someone who just seemed totally misinformed re: recent press.... therefore different to someone who might have very personal reasons not to bf.

Hope you feel a bit better about it all anyway... and hope I didn't offend too much.

FriggFRIGG · 03/02/2011 21:21

oh,and you know what alot of people are jugemental about BFing, someone even said it was 'creepy'...you cannot win in the world of motherhoodGrin

FriggFRIGG · 03/02/2011 21:24

on a different note...Arlo went in his new baby 'door' bouncer today, you should have seen his little faceGrin he thought he could walk! he was so chuffed with himselfGrin

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2011 21:25

I worked with a lady who had bf her 3 daughters until they were 2 but said she couldn't understand how I could bf a boy at all Shock

On a lighter note, I am shopping with my Christmas next vouchers Grin

SeaChelles · 03/02/2011 21:26

i really want to get a door bouncer frigg - was just worried would be a waste if he's not in it very long.

think he would love it though

beaditAli · 03/02/2011 21:28

I might put ours up this weekend....... will post back re: results! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 03/02/2011 21:30

Get one from eBay SeaChelles, ds1 loved his and Luke thought it was great the one time I have been bothered to get it out he went in it. They can go in it until they can walk.
