Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
comixminx · 19/01/2011 15:02

Ha ha cinnamon, yes it was me who had a boob out to feed her to sleep in bed! It was while we were away for Christmas and she was a bit unsettled - back home, she's fine to sleep at night in her cot, including during the day, thankfully. But she needs a good nap today because we also had a disturbed night - she woke quite a few more times than normal, or so it seemed...

watersprite · 19/01/2011 15:20

saoirse86 it was me that mentioned the woombie, i haven't found any in shops just on line. I'm hopeing to get Maria-Ann one as her sleep pattern is all over the place. She woke every other hour last night :( I do like the one you seen on ebay. Thinking of getting mine from Amazon it's a bit more expensive though but it's shipped closer to home.

Dredding tomorrow my O/H go's in hospital to have his tonsils out and laser in the back of his throat to stop him snoring. A bit extream i know but at the moment he is sleeping on the couch because he is so loud and wakes me and Maria-Ann.

Maria-Ann 17 wks +1

saoirse86 · 19/01/2011 15:38

Ahhhhhhhhh! I just wrote a long boring interesting post and the internet connection went so lost it.

Here's the short(er) version:

Orlaith has an inner ear infection which is stopping her feeding properly.

She woke every 2 hours last night Sad but my sister said her DD woke 7 times in 10 hours last night and 6 times in 11 hours the previous night so not as bad as that!
4 month sleep regression maybe?

newmum and chelle get yoursleves to some groups! I got to 3 so far, maybe starting new ones soon and I love meeting lots of mums and the girls seem to enjoy it too. I hope it'll help make them more sociable too.

beadit what do the mums say/do that makes you bite your tongue? Let us pass comment (in private) about them! Grin

cinnamon I thought the same about the birthing pool mum on one born every minute. That's exactly how I wanted mine too be and it will be like that next time! Hmm

saoirse86 · 19/01/2011 15:49

Well it turns out Orlaith was teething because her tooth has just broken through her gum. Poor thing, mummy didn't even notice! Hmm

Dixiebell · 19/01/2011 16:22

My little soldier was so brave for his vaccinations today. Sucked his thumb and didn't cry at all for the first jab, only a little bit for the second. And has been delightful all afternoon, including some proper laughing. So sweet, really high pitched. He does it when I whisper in his ear and kiss his cheek which makes my heart melt :) Soppy mummy!

beaditAli · 19/01/2011 17:13

saoirse comments like "well that's why you have to start routines from minute go" and "why do mums not give dummies? I can't understand them people" Shock am I allowed to call them chavs on here?? Blush
Some very lovely babies go there tho! Grin

Yeay for Orlaith!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/01/2011 17:34

I was thinking earlier that I NEED chocolate beatitAli, am trying to be good as despite bfing I have put on 4Kg since I had Luke but on the plus side I have lost 1.5Kg from a week of not bing(e)ing! I am never actually sure what the word chav means but I'm sure you can use it here! I am a dummy hater I have to admit but each to their own. I think it's so cute to see a baby sucking its thumb :)

Luke started laughing a couple of weeks ago when I tickle him it's wonderful!

Well saoirse86 I was a bit more realistic second time around but I still wanted a water birth. It was much quicker and only used g&a but was still induced so had the bloody monitors on the whole time!

comixminx · 19/01/2011 18:15

Yay for Orlaith! Am jealous now... Come on Aphra!! Yes, I know it's not a race. Grin

bananastew · 19/01/2011 19:33

Is that the 1st mn sept thread tooth??? yay Orlaith!

Toby fell down the stairs last night Shock I completely paniked! It was such a good job my mum was here. I know i'm a nurse but I'm a mummy 1st. I crumpled on the floor in tears cos he had blood all over his face. Mum picked him up & checked him over. He was fine. Much worse than it looked but it was horrible. Sad

Can't remember who asked about settling at night but we have a glow seahorse that plays music. I put Olly down & that on. It geas for 5 mins & by the time its finished, if he is going to settle he will. He's going through a stage of waking up at 4 to feed then 5-5.30 to get up! I hope he gets out of it soon! I'm starting to struggle & Tobys really hit the terrible twos so not much sleep & a tantruming 2 year old = very tired, very stressed mummy! chocolate & wine tonight I think!

Oh & whoever asked about the ear, cinnamon was right, my friends dd used to suffer with her ear when she was teathing its all linked!

mapletrees · 19/01/2011 20:03

Aw, it's so great when they giggle isn't it? Louis only did it for his dad at first Sad but now he does for me too Grin. I found another way to make him yesterday - I had just rinsed my hands and he was sitting watching me, and as I reached for a towel I suddenly got the urge to flick water in his face (evil mummy). At first he just stopped and looked confused, so I did it again, and the second time he started to chuckle, so of course I did it again, and again, and again...

chelle you and Olly sound like us when I posted at the beginning of last week.. cinnamon told me about a book called the Wonder Weeks. I bought it, and it's the first book I've read that actually sounds like Louis. Their theory is that in the days/weeks leading up to a developmental leap forward, babies are more fussy, clingy etc. Some are effected more than others, and you can predict the times to within a week or so. When I thought back, all the times they say in the book correspond to times when we had a tough period. They have a big fussy phase from about weeks 15 to 19 (sometimes shorter), which for us was the middle of Dec until last week, and guess what, last Thursday he just snapped out of it, woke up in the morning smiley and has been (mostly) like that since Grin. I found it helped to think that even if there wasn't much I could do differently (he still needed all the extra cuddles etc) it was a part of his development rather than a permanent change in his character.

Orlaith congratulations on your 1st tooth!!!

Louis 20 weeks today Grin

newmum001 · 19/01/2011 20:17

Bloodyhell what is going on with our LO's? Do you think theres is a babiesnet and they're all on it coming up with ways to make us all suffer at the same time! I did wonder if it could be a growth spurt, Grace has been very off over the last 3 weeks ish and that would tie in about right. Her sleep is absolutely all over the place last night was by far the worst night we've ever had with her! It kind of makes sense that growth spurts would make them very fussy though so i'll cling to the hope that thats what this is and that it won't last forever.

I'm also a bit jealous that Orlaith has got a tooth Grin which tooth is it by the way? Babies look so cute with only one or two teeth. Has anyone seen that advert for follow on milk, that litte boy that laughs at the end has two teeth on the bottom and he looks adorable!

MammyG · 19/01/2011 20:36

Went to baby talk this morning. Its a group for mums of babies under 5 months and deals with different topics -weaning/ mums health/ homeopathy/ yoga and even a life coach! There were 6 of us there but so nice to see other babies and what they are up to. Couldnt get over the differences. The boys were huge! and one of the girls was so active! Screwed up our nap routine a bit but sorted it out later. I would love to get to P&T group but dont think I could put that much push on myself two mornings a week at the moment. Juggling the boys and baby is hectic enough.

What exactly is 4 month sleep regression?

newmum001 · 19/01/2011 21:56

Mammy - google it, it sounds horrific and if thats whats going on with Grace at the minute then it's every bit as bad as it sounds. I think it's some massive growth spurt that really messes them up sleep/behaviour wise.

I'd love to go to something like that!! Don't know if theres anything like it round here though. How did you find out about it.

MammyG · 19/01/2011 22:51

Got a letter from the local playschool etc. They just contacted all the women who had babies in the past while and asked if we would be interesed. While we were there we all chose the topics we would like to explore and the speakers that would come in. Its just nice to meet other mums whose LOs are at the same stage. We will all be weaning roughly around the same time etc so will be good to compare.

clumsymumluckybaby · 19/01/2011 23:18

helooo everyone.
sorry if ive missed any thing, but theres too much to catch up on for right now!
i did see chelle was looking for a sling witch is really great but can i say the baba slings are not great imo,a ring sling would be much better!like this

we have had a rough few days too,Arlo is teething, poor love it seems like the top teeth are just about too break through, but havent budged for ages 'go orlaith! btw!!

Skye has also been a bit of a pain, she woke up at 2am tuesday morning and didnt go back to sleep untill 8pm that evening!! and teh next day woke at 5am! Shock (she always goes a bit loopy around the full moon though!)
we all ahve a really nasty cold...and my sister is staying here for a few weeks! shes over here with her DD from taiwan, its so lovely to see them, and she's an amazing house guest, but i just wish we were more 'with it' so we could enjoy seeing her properly.

uurrggghh.sorry,

rant over...

JessemyParkson · 20/01/2011 00:23

ditto sleeping problems...

Ever since her 2nd set of jabs, Mary has been waking up at least once a night.

Before hand, she'd go down between 6.30 and 7, then sleep pretty solid to 7ish the next morning.

Now, although she's still going down, if anything, earlier, she's waking up soooooooo much! On average she'll wake up at midnight, then 5am, then 7am. I'm really feeling it atm.

And she's not sleeping well during the day - she used to go down for at least 3 hours in the morning, and at least an hour in the afternoon. Now I'm lucky if she'll kip for an hour in the morning, and 20 mins in the afternoon.

Add DH off with a double ear infection plus tonsillitis, and DS giving me jip left right and centre everything's absolutely peachy!

oh wait, that's this one... Confused

But she's absolutely woofing her solids! I've upped her to a heaped tablespoon 3 times a day. She prefers the oaty cereals to the veg & rice thing I use for lunch, but even so, she usually eats it all :)

debs is that a ring sling? If chelle doesn't want it, I'll take it! Blush

JessemyParkson · 20/01/2011 00:30

PS Mary's attempting to roll, (admittedly DH keeps trying to help her!)

And she's cutting at least one of her pre-molars - not an incisor in sight! Hmm

Mary 16+1

newmum001 · 20/01/2011 08:02

Good Morning all, Grace slept from 10 and she's still asleep. She originally fell asleep at 8 but woke up screaming for some reason and it took until 10 to calm her down and get her to sleep again!

Has anyone been watching Daybreak? Theres a post on here about a lady who has a seriously disabled daughter and has asked for her to be put into care as she can't cope and can't get respite for her. It really is so sad, the news are calling for David Cameron to get involved.

JessemyParkson · 20/01/2011 08:15

Morning newman I heard it on the news today too, David Cameron is getting involved I believe.

The mother is a very regular poster on mumsnet, and there's a thread in chat about it, which she started. Poor lady, I take my hat off to her.

comixminx · 20/01/2011 08:43

I heard it on the news this morning too: in the middle of the night I saw one of the threads about it and so wasn't too surprised when I heard Riven's name mentioned on the Today program. Blimey, it blew up very quickly by the sound of it.

clumsymumluckybaby · 20/01/2011 09:47

yeah i was on the thread...lurking Blush
and by midnight it was all over the news...blimey,the power of mumsnet,eh....i vote we're in charge from now on...Grin

saoirse86 · 20/01/2011 09:50

Morning ladies!

Well we're in a better mood this morning generally. Orlaith was much better sleeping last night. She went to bed at 9.45, woke at 10.45 for a super-quick 2oz, then nothing till 3.45, 10 mins and she was back to sleep till 8. Not amazing compared to some of your babies but a miracle compareed to the waking every 2 hours!

Thanks for all the congratulations. She must be the first unless sassys twins have started.

She's kind of amusing me this morning because she just keeps shouting loudly , presumably because of the tooth. It's her top right tooth and it looks like the top left is about to follow. She's still giggling though so it can't be upsetting her too much.
How long does it take for them all to come through? And does it get more painful for them, or is the first one the worst?

My mum does house adaptations for disabled people and she hears a lot of stories similar to that woman's. Apparently most parents she deals with who have a child born with a severe disability end up splitting up, usually leaving the mum alone with often another child/children and no respite. It must be so awful and we don't know how lucky we are.
I hope that woman gets some serious help and the government start taking it more seriously.

saoirse86 · 20/01/2011 09:51

clumsy what a good idea! What will your first ruling be? Grin

bananastew · 20/01/2011 09:52

Those of you with other los, How much tele do you allow?? Tobys getting a bit obsessed & we're starting to have tantrums when its not on. I'm trying to limit it to 1hr am & pm. Is that mean??

clumsymumluckybaby · 20/01/2011 09:58
