HELP PLEASE LADIES

WHEN DO YOU bUY YOUR CHILDREN NEW SHOES?
do you buy them shoes if they have gone up half a size?
thats what i have been doinh [hmmm]

120 · 02/03/2011 18:29

when they moan Wink

120 · 02/03/2011 18:30

actually, I get them measured every three months (seasonally) if the current shoes aren't fitting, then yes, I buy new ones.

GotArt · 02/03/2011 19:15

When they don't fit any longer... we go through them like mad with DD as her feet seem to sprout every three months significantly. All of a sudden, one day, they just don't fit. I buy them a size bigger and use the inserts for them for the first bit. These last two pairs, she actually took out the inserts one day in the car and put them back on... guess they were getting tight. Grin

Dance class was fun this morning for the girls... not so sure how I felt about having to run around chasing butterflies and blowing into the wind. Grin

tinksbabyis2 · 02/03/2011 20:27

Cheers ladies

treedelivery · 02/03/2011 20:54

I used to get dd measured fairly often Tink, since the arrival of the H-bomb we barely go to town. DD1 is probably squished into her shoes Blush

I forgot to say Hmm we are off on a jaunt this weekend!! Yaaa hoooooo! Much needed break out of this town and this house and this rigmarole [sp?] really. I've really not been feeling great [have thread in general health if anyone didn't know] so I am crossing everything I am able to perform this weekend. In the fun mum sense of the word. DH is used to me never performing Grin

PatTheHammer · 02/03/2011 21:05

Right, what are you lot doing to your kids feet?Shock

Got mine measured on sunday as happened to be next to a clarks.
Z has been a 5.5f and DD has been a 9.5f since AUGUST! They are just not growing, although DD is in an upward direction, lanky so-and-soGrin

GA- dance class sound fun, DD loves her ballet. just cost me a jaw-dropping £60 to kit her out with the full stuff after she has had 4 trial sessions. There is no dissuading her. Telling you now that there is NO WAY she is getting into horse-ridingGrin!

Tree- what is your class about? Sounds good. Weekend sounds good. I am soooooooooooooo excited about taking DD to London, two more sleeps!

Well, survived Boot Camp tonight. Not sure my arse and hamstrings will like me very much in the morningWink

Teaandcakeplease · 02/03/2011 21:11

Pat I should post you J's old shoes he's now on a 7.5G Grin He seems to be going up a pair every 6-8 weeks at the moment Sad DD is an 8.5G so DS is catching up with her at high speed. I tend to forget for a while and then think I ought to get their feet measured and then discover their shoes are too tight Blush

ExH has had to pull out of coming to Scotland, as he's been offered some extra hours of door work and he needs the money. Feeling very emotional tonight about it all, as I find his mum so difficult and going up there on my own and not having any back up when MIL tries to undermine me etc is making my blood pressure rise Sad

PatTheHammer · 02/03/2011 21:17

Oh teaSad for you, I am sure it will be fine, you may have to grit your teeth but you will get there!

Shoes very welcome, I could send you some clothes for DD in return? What age does she wear, My DD in 4-5 or 5-6 so have a fair amount of 3-4 stuff, mainly dresses.

Teaandcakeplease · 02/03/2011 22:11

Oooo that sounds good.

Well after a cup of tea and toast and peanut butter really healthy dinner for me Hmm Grin I feel a little better. I think flying up maybe the best course of action and FIL can pick me up at the other end. Can't face trains on my own with 2 DCs Sad PIL will have to pick up bits I can't lug on plane at their end. I can't back out. Tempting though it is. Not really Sad

treedelivery · 02/03/2011 22:13

I'm teaching anatomy and physiology on access course, so level 3. Well, actually I am facilitating. As I have no actual teaching qualifications and the pay 'aint great Grin
So I'm now doing to PETALS course, which is like the entry level teaching life long learning course, but I have a sneaky suspicion most will have been covered on the mentorship in practice I did at M level. Hopefully not though, am hoping for more classroom and technology type skills. I can't use a smartboard to save my bacon Blush

DD1 is a 9/10, and she is 6yo. DD2 is a 6, and she is 2yo!!! I reckon they'll be able to swap shoes very soon Grin
DD2's old shoes are nearly all in great condition as she was very light on shoes, so I saved them all as I knew we'd have another girl. Needless to say dd1 was a d fitting and dd2 is an f Hmm Kids eh! Pisses me off as I have some nearly perfect old shoes, but I can't cram dd2's feet in them Hmm

Teaandcakeplease · 02/03/2011 22:14

Ebay them?

treedelivery · 02/03/2011 22:20

I was just about to post Tea, can't you just not go?

I'm guessing they can't come to you and stay in travel lodge?

Fly. Just fly, you won't need much. You can wash their clothes there if needs be, and a cheap car seat costs £30 to buy. That said, I'm sure you can take them on the plane you know.

Poor you, I really don't envy you. Not what you need really is it.

Maybe the journey will be grand? Things like this often go fairly well, and make you feel like adventure mummy Smile
If it's any consolation I took an 18m toddler, a 3m old baby and 2 huge golden retrievers on a flight in australia [when I was a nanny]. My approach was to wear sunglasses, perch the kids on the luggage trolly, trail the dogs on a lead...and make like Victoria Beckham Grin

treedelivery · 02/03/2011 22:21

Yes must ebay them or something - I never get around to it.

Teaandcakeplease · 02/03/2011 22:26

Oh yes thought that too Tree about backing out and making them stay in travel lodge down here, but the truth is they want to spoil the grandkids at their house and take them to local tourist bits and bobs and the chilly beach. It's been what they've wanted nagged for for such a long time now. It was always MIL dream to retire in Scotland have the GCs come and stay etc. If I ask them to come down here I'm delaying the inevitable now I've offered once to go up there and she'll keep pushing and pushing again just like they used to. So I might as well give in go.

PIL will pay for flights and they said they'd pay for car seats as well. I'm just stressing as MIL is a battle axe and I hate confrontation Sad Which will happen between me and her. Just bought this book which anniegetyourgun recommended to me ages ago. Need to learn don't I?

Right to bed for me, as DS thinks 5am is time to get up right now Hmm

GotArt · 03/03/2011 05:01

VictoriaTree lol.

DD is in size 6 as well. Its funny to see her little frame running around with these long feet. My nan had a size 10 (40) on a 5'4" frame; family joke being you could see her feet coming around the corner before her. Grin I'm a size 9-10 as well but am 5'8" so it looks OK.

Tea Too bad about ExH not being able to make but still better to go.. at least the grandparents can take the LO's out and about and you can truly relax... cause you know, if you were at home, you would just do house stuff. Grin Just avoid the topics that she gets you going at, smile and be pleasant. Ignore, ignore, ignore and take a book to write in at the end of the day to get it all out so you sleep well at night... better to get it out then laying there being angry about it... I should've heeded my own advice when dealing with UG. Grin Enjoy the trip. Just keep saying 'this is going to be a lovely little trip for us all... just absolutely lovely'.

Eee gad... have my balcony door open cause even with the coldness here and not having the heat on since we moved in, the place does get warm, which is nice to know that we will spend nothing on our hydro bill, but the neighbour uses some horridly perfumey dryer sheets and now my place smells of it... its awful. I am a bit scent sensitive and these products give me a headache fast, but for the most part, I suck it up but this is exceptionally strong.

hackneyzoo · 03/03/2011 08:49

Morning have read all but forgotten almost everything!
Dog big hugs too you. I feel overwhelmed with three so can't imagine what four is like. You come across ad a great mum though. Hope you manage to get a bit of space for thinking and resting.

Tea could you take a friend with you for moral support?

Tree enjoy weekend away! Hope you het a chance to relax and REST

Pat Dh is working this weekend so am not going to be able to get to mat history m as can't face the tube with three of the little buggers! Whole weekend is a nit hectic to be honest. Hope you guys have a lovely time

Tink Jude's feet grow super fast too. I buy new shoes whenever he goes up even half a size, he is 6.5g at the mo.

Ga. I have giant man feet too, size 9 and I am only 5'6 so tend to look like a clown Grin

Hi all.

pat hope you have a fab trip to London - sounds like DD has got it all under control! Lovely to see you last week and enjoyed my waddle around Slimbridge. Nye is still going on about the 'bingos' (flamingos) Grin

tea the trip all sounds like a bit of a nightmare, but just remember you are doing them a massive favour, think about how far and what efforts you are prepared to make, and then let them do the rest... they will probably be bending over backwards to make you feel comfortable I imagine. Can you see it as a bit of a break for you? Let them bath and put the kids to bed while you have a glass of wine on the sofa for example? I hope it turns out well for you - not sure exactly when you are going.

tree teaching sounds good - always good to do something different even just for a few hours. I did some e-marketing day course recently, and it was just 6 hours of being with grown ups talking about facebook, but it felt like a lifetime away!

Well, 39 weeks today and feeling like I'm splitting in two. Am trying not to get into that waiting thing, and telling myself it will be another 3 weeks, but surely I can't go for that long without popping? Hard to see how... I can barely walk.

Sorry I'm not posting much, brain is jelly, but am reading and will keep you updated!

tinksbabyis2 · 04/03/2011 09:20

hi miss j wow one week to go Grin

GotArt · 04/03/2011 16:08

missjackson · 04/03/2011 17:59

Thanks - am actually just cracking open the Wine.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
