It's humbling to look back at the last year and see how our LO's have gone from helpless newborns to action-packed pre-toddlers.

BRING IT ON!!!

Yep, it's a sign that the coil does not suit me Grin.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 14/01/2011 08:06

Happy Birthday ChestnutSoup and stoofadoof!

...or that the coil wasn't put in correctly BG Hmm
Yes, I wondered if it was as magical second time round, thanks for confirming!

I'm glad your DS' eye has cleared up, SB! Fingers crossed on the sleep...

Hah, yes I do that as well PA. I think "She's getting so big!" when of course she's still tiny....

Happy Birthday birthday ladies!

Am very jealous about NY trip - it's my favourite place in the world (apart from London). I'm a real city girl and hate the countryside. Having said that I'm about to head off to North Norfolk for the weekend for a friend's 40th.

mamaloco · 14/01/2011 16:01

I agree with IC Hmm coils just don't fall off.

stoof missed your post with BD, happy Birthday too (wasn't trying to ignore you Blush.

I am a muppet [muppet emoticon], I gave the spoon to DD2 with my right hand then she takes it with her left. Never mattered with DD1 as she was ambidextrous till 3 yo. DD2 is clearly already right handed. The eating is a bit better that way. Still hugely messy which I struggle with.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 14/01/2011 18:01

Bear muppet emoticon for mamaloco Grin

DD managed to unbutton my pyjama top today. Her reaction to what was revealed was to say "Hah!" in a pleased sort of way and latch straight on. While kneeling up.
Sort of roving snack-bar, I guess....

{grin] at IC DD's drive in!

bethy that's a sign! Grin

Happy birthday to our birthday ladies. CS have a fab time in NY.

I'm soo glad it's the weekend. I love my job but hate the winter months as they are my quietest.

I've already booked DS's 1 year old IMMS as I want them to be done on a Friday I'm day off (also by having them on Friday if he has temperature as a reaction, he'll be all cleared by Monday for nursery Blush )

mama I think my DS is probably left handed as he will grab most thing with his left hand.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 15/01/2011 07:32

A good night for DD - woke up at 02.20 and settled quickly back after a feed. Woke a little later, but settled herself with no trouble and slept until 06.30.
Shame I was awake between 00.00 and 05.30 for some reason Hmm

I'm going to try for a cot nap this morning and if that fails, take her in bed with me - I could do with a wee dozy catch up...

I'm dreading the next batch of imms, SB. They do them here at 15 mo and there are 4 jabs and you often get a double whammy of reactions, first within 72 hours, then again a few days later . Still, has to be done.

Thankfully, still more than three months away.

Re coil, don't want to go into too much graphic detail but yes they can dislodge and come out... I was about to make an appt anyway for advice because I had a lot of pain (like contractions) so I think my body was keen to get rid of the thing. Plus I have felt surprisingly pregnant the past few week... Judging from the 'period' I have now I may well be miscarrying!! Shock Needless to say I am glad it's out and I won't ask for a replacement (esp after reading a few MN threads)

StoneBaby · 15/01/2011 13:06

Crakey DS is reacting (I think) to his 1st weetabix! Hmm 5th dirty nappy today so far and they are very smelly (sorry TMI) I'm using disposable as he soiling them quicker than I can wash.

BabyGiraffes · 15/01/2011 13:11

StoneBaby may not be the weetabix. There are a lot of bugs around at the moment. dd2 had a few real stinkers yesterday and dd1 was sent home from nursery on Thursday because she was rather liquid...

StoneBaby · 15/01/2011 13:23

BG thanks for letting me know. I am feeding him with bananas in order to help. Sorry to hear you DD1 is unwell

InmaculadaConcepcion · 15/01/2011 13:37

Yep, first (and so far only) squit bug DD got I was convinced it was something she ate....

Ah, fair enough BG. They don't suit everyone. Was it a Mirena, I can't remember? I had one of those and was very pleased with it, but some women react badly to the trace of progesterone in it...

Slightly mad first nap...
As I thought she would, DD yelled when I tried to put her down in the cot, so I co-napped with her latched on (well, I dozed a bit). Trouble was, the room was dark and I couldn't see the clock. DD woke once then fell back to sleep. After a bit I figured she must have been asleep for a good hour and as she was stirring again, encouraged her to wake fully. When I checked the clock, I realised she'd been asleep for over 2 hours Shock
Which is good in one way, but I'm a bit concerned about whether I'll be able to persuade DD to take a catnap later on without wrecking bed-time - or whether we'll have to try and power her through...
Ahem.
Note to self. Next time we co-nap, make sure the clock is visible.

IC how did the afternoon nap went?

DS had a 50mn nap this morning, and 2 20mn ones this afternoon but he went down with no problem tonight.

His tommy seems better as nothing was produced this afternoon.

StoneBaby · 15/01/2011 19:11

Where is everybody? The board is very quiet! Smile

Hope you all have a good weekend

InmaculadaConcepcion · 15/01/2011 19:45

It's you, me and BG, SB!

A bit of determined buggy-pushing got DD off to sleep at 15.45 - I curtailed it at 16.10. Result: a happy baby all evening, chomped a good supper and went down at her usual time with no probs.

Of course, having said that on here, DD will now wake 6 times yelling blue murder...

I've just necked some chamomile tea and am praying the insomnia will sod off and let me sleep tonight.

Somehow it's a lot worse being unable to sleep because of insomnia than a restless baby...
Clearly I should have saved some of that sleepy dust I sent to CS for myself....

May the rest of you have a restful night...
Smile

Hello!!!!

Well I survived my 1st week back at work. I hated it and DD did too. Friday there was an improvement though.

She seems to be drinking more milk than usual. Think there may be a growth spurt due.

She has been teething badly this week, lots of really loose smelly poos that make her bum red. Finally stopped today...bum better and front tooth more prominent!

3 baby groups this week, she has another cold. :( Shite sleeping and afternoon nap today.

IC Read somewhere tonight that dipping a chamomile teabag in cooled boiled water and given to LO helps them sleep too....worth a try?? What do you think?

BG ouch! :( How are you feeling?

Anyones else's DC copying their laughter? Me and DP do fake evil laughs (think end of Thriller) and DD copies..soo funny!!

bethylou · 15/01/2011 20:51

Well done LBH. I think the first bit back at work is the worst and you've done it. Smile

Sorry to have commenbted on BG's lost coil and not mention the brithday girls - very remiss of me. Hope NY is lovely CS and that Stoof has been spoiled too, if probably a little closer to home!

Having quiet weekend at home and have been drinnking some post-Christmas mulled wine which is lush! Needed drinking up obviously. Anyone fancy a mug? Could do with a mince pie though and am all out of those!

Have been signed off by physio this week as long as I continue the post-baby pelvis exercises. DH thinks they are doing wonders for tightening up my arse!! Makes them worth doing!!

BabyGiraffes · 15/01/2011 22:06

dd2's latest trick is to hold a toy phone to her ear and say 'Hayo'... Grin So cute how they copy you, isn't it. As for shape sorters, no idea if she can do one. We have one which is a box with a lid that comes off very easily. Both girls worked out immediately that it is much easier to just take the lid off and throw the shapes in rather than find the matching hole Grin. I guess that's practical intelligence??

BabyGiraffes · 16/01/2011 10:45

I'm making the most of baby cuddles... Grin dd1 also loved cuddles but would not initiate, whereas dd2 will come up to me all the time for hugs and kisses.

dh stayed in the Midlands on Friday night after a work thing and confessed he had a lie in on Saturday until 10.30 Envy. He came home last night because he missed us Hmm but I think he regretted his decision this morning when dd2 demanded to get up at 6.15 Grin. She's done that trick for the last week or so - always exactly at 6.15 (how does she know?). If I'm lucky she will settle herself back to sleep but more often than not she'll make such a fuss that I get up with her before 7 Hmm

Thought of a not so nice baby related thing! Spoon feeding a snotty baby when however much you wipe their nose there is a bit of snot pulling away with the spoon [shudder]

ChestnutSoup · 16/01/2011 10:51

I'm back! Thanks for all the birthday messages - stoof, did you do something nice?

We had a lovely time, but I'm anxious to see my girls now - MIL tells me they were fine and had a great time, but I want some cuddles!

As for my DH having superhero status (as apparently he now does at DD1's pre-school - news travels fast round here), last year he forgot my birthday! And the year before I worked full-time plus extra freelance work to support us when he was made redundant and was out of work for six months (I fell pg with DD2 in this time, so it was pretty tough going). And we'd talked about going to NY when I was pg with DD2, but then I developed SPD so we couldn't. So it was to make up/say thank you for all those things!

Hope everyone is doing OK. Is the sleepy dust working?

ChestnutSoup · 16/01/2011 10:52

Oh, and BG I'm aghast at your coil falling out. Hope you're not suffering too much.

BabyGiraffes · 16/01/2011 11:15

CS hope you had a fab time!! Smile I love NY, too. We went there on honeymoon and then returned the next year for more of the same.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 16/01/2011 11:43

Welcome back, CS - glad you had a great time! Enjoy the reunion with your DDs....

Good news on being signed off by the physio, bethy...this year's already shaping up better for your family health issues, eh?!

Well done, LBH, you made it through the first tricky week. Soon it'll all settle down into normality - for you and DD. But I appreciate it must be tough on you both to start with.
And yes, our DD imitates our laughs too, it's very funny! She also copies me clearing my throat and thinks it's hilarious Hmm

Aw, that's lovely BG (the phone)!
And how about your sneaky DH grabbing a lie-in?! Well, it sounds like he got his comeuppance!

We had a lovely family lie-in this morning. DH came and snuggled up with me and DD on the mattress on the floor in her room - so she could crawl about without us worrying too much about her hurting herself.

DD loves her discovery of the roving milk-bar and has been revelling in the novelty of being able to help herself to some extent. I should discourage her really, as I don't particularly want her rendering me topless in public Blush but I have to admit, I haven't stopped her yet because it's so endearing...
I'm sure she's in league with DH Grin

BabyGiraffes · 16/01/2011 11:46

IC forgot to say I love the description of your dd discoverying self service Grin. Brilliant! But I agree maybe not so good in public! Grin

PenguinArmy · 16/01/2011 18:08

Wow CS I didn't realise it would be a weekend sans children. Even more Envy now, I can't see that happening anytime soon

stoof let us know how things your end went

BG I had a similar experience except it was during BF. She has the stickiest snot and it's sooo elastic. It remained connected between her nose and my breast for at least 5 mins and it didn't matter how far she moved. I was strangely intrigued by it.

Enjoy it IC I think I've got to the point where it's no longer becoming endearing, but hopefully slightly new tricks will be and I can start 'training' her on her other points.

We're off to circus circus today and then driving home. Yesterday was brilliant and DD got her first experience of snow.
