It's humbling to look back at the last year and see how our LO's have gone from helpless newborns to action-packed pre-toddlers.

BRING IT ON!!!

IC wow, tomorrow is the day!! Smile The first first birthday on this thread Grin

ChestnutSoup · 25/01/2011 20:36

In case I don't get a chance tomorrow-happy birthday rosie! Congratulations IC too!

StoneBaby · 25/01/2011 20:45

DS naps either twice or once a day and sleep anything between 20 mn and 1 hour (if only one nap) but he is in bed at 6.30pm. He can now feed himslef with the spoon and tries to fill the spoon with food from the plate (messy).

BG fingers crossed for the job

IC Happy 1st birthday for tomorrow!! Hopefully she'll sleep well again. I can't believe our LO are starting to turn 1!!!!

LBH congratulations Grin

BabyGiraffes · 25/01/2011 20:47

IC that list on your blog just brought tears to my eyes! Then tears of laughter looking at the dance!! Grin

Bearcrumble · 25/01/2011 22:15

Aww, Rosie is so cute. Lovely blog, IC.

It's been a while and I just had to read about 5 pages to catch up from my last read-only session, so apologies to anyone upthread who really needed an answer/hug etc..

IC Happy birthday to Rosie - hope you all have a lovely day.

Scones so sorry for your friend (and you therefore, obviously) but glad that she seems to be doing well at the moment.

Happy belated birthday Stan and very pleased you got lovely presents.

BG seems a bit silly to wish you good luck for an interview you've had today but I hope it went well and you got it if you wanted it!! If it's any comfort, work with two DS is actually going much more smoothly than I had dared hope. Admittedly, I do have to get up at 6:15 a.m. to leave with both in tow at 8:20, but I'm hoping this will improve! I would recommend lots of practising getting out early - but I think you might be doing this for school anyway, unlike me, as DS1 is only 2!

There are some benefits: you would get to go to the loo in peace, eat lunch without getting food spat/hurled at you etc.. You might even make some money if you haven't got two in childcare like we have - I'm paying £1000 a month at the mo till April (when DS1 will receive nursery grant) just to send the two boys to childcare for 3 days a week. I get to contribute towards about half our monthly Sainsburys bill on top of that for all my efforts at work and before and after each day!! I do also feel like I've done half a day's work by the time I've got there and why does DS2 seem to think 8:15a.m. is a great time for a poo?!! (And why do the boys lie in on weekdays and wake at 6a.m at the weekend?!!)

I haven't mentioned sleep in a while as it doesn't really bother me half as much as it did with DS1- we're usually up between 1 and 5 times a night between the two of them and average about 2-3 short wakings. DS1 has a cough at the mo so we were up on Sunday night for the day from 3a.m. which wasn't a great start to my working week (anyone know of a good concealer as I am seriously struggling to look professional?!! And that's before I get DS2's snot on my trousers!) I learnt last time to try not to focus on it too much and realised in the end that they will sleep through eventually. I hope those of you really struggling at the mo won't think I'm making light of it though as I'm really not- I've had my fair share of my 'crying tired' days - it was just helpful to try and remember that sleepless phases do generally pass and somehow we get through. Hugs to you all in the meantime.

Anyway, even I'm starting to lose the will to live with my ramblings!! Happy birthday to any of the LOs that I might miss before I get to type again.

(and do come pack PA - we miss you)

bethylou · 25/01/2011 22:19

p.s. could I do one tiny weeny proud mummy thing and tell you that DS1 received a parcel in the post today saying that he was runner up in a Mothercare colouring competition that he entered a few months ago? He is now the proud owner of the latest Thomas and Friends dvd and will be nice and quiet for the next few days!! (Oh yes, and I am now branching out into making gluten and dairy-free cakes and biscuits for my unhealthy family-no wonder I never get time to post!!)

BabyGiraffes · 25/01/2011 22:35

Bear he is good!! Smile dd2 would probably just eat it...

beth thanks. I think I was so nervous today because I could see myself doing the job and actually enjoying it... Ah well. As for getting out of the house, I am struggling with that, too, but luckily dd1 doesn't have to be at her preschool until between 9 and 9.15 and it's pretty close to usGrin.
Oh, and well done on your dd1!!! Smile

I think it may be close to tomorrow in Madrid now, so very very happy birthday to Rosie!!! Such a cutie Smile

SconesForTea · 25/01/2011 23:11

Tomorrow in Madrid yet? Happy birthday Rosie!

mamaloco · 26/01/2011 07:47

happy birthday IC

You are right DD2 dropped all naps for a while, we are back on 1 or 2 (she is not settled yet) Confused.

StoneBaby · 26/01/2011 07:54

Happy birthday Rosie.

bethy nice to hear from you. I use Max Factor concealer and it does the job (when I remember to use it!)

mamaloco · 26/01/2011 08:21

bethy I like N7 from boots, I have very sensitive skin and eyes and for some reason that is the only brand that doesn't hitch. L'oreal use to have nice compact ones but they stop making it.
Confused Like the only sun cream that fits DD1 is nivea spray for children (the blue one???) I tried every bottle known to mankind for sensitive skin and eczema, which all reacted with her skin...
I guess sometimes less is best

Stangirl · 26/01/2011 09:31

Happy Birthday Rosie1

bethy I am a make-up fiend and recommend the Benefit compact that you can put on with either a sponge or brush. I have very red skin and can put it on over my moisturiser without foundation and it gives excellent coverage. Also only takes one minute. That, black eyeliner, mascara and red lippy and I'm good to go in 5mins with a vintage look. I also used to use staggeringly expensive eye cream because I have dark circles but the new Garnier caffeine roll-on works just as well and is also highly recommended.

Bearcrumble · 26/01/2011 10:01

Happy birthday Rosie!!!

Bethy Well done DS1 on the colouring competition. With regards to concealer - I use touche eclat for under my eyes and the Laura Mercier concealer pencil for spots and blemishes.

We had a great night. 6.30pm-5.30am and then 6.30am-8am.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 26/01/2011 12:12

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Rosie, everyone!

She enjoyed her first taste of chocolate and cake and many of her presents are already proving to be a big hit.

She got a push along truck with bricks in (classic), a nest of colourful boxes (she's already half eaten the smallest... Hmm), some books, a teddy, her Xylophone from us (not yet as proficient as your DS Bc! We loved watching that clip) and some clothes.

Also a designer necklace made by her Aunt, who's rapidly making a name for herself as an exclusive designer of wedding jewelery and hairpieces. DD obviously won't be able to wear that for a while, but it struck me if my SIL keeps those kind of presents up, DD will have an enviable collection in a few years time!!

Concealer: I use one of the colour-matched ones from Mac. Brilliant - somehow I still manage to look vaguely human when I wear it, even after a year of crap sleep... Smile

Well done bethy's DS1!!

BC like the video and your comments Grin My DS uses a tinned chocolate box and a honey dipper to play drum! or 2 spoons on a beer keg!! Grin

ChestnutSoup · 26/01/2011 14:32

beth thanks for your advice on juggling work and two DCs. As for concealer, I recommend the No 7 Touche Eclat rip-off. It's just as good but much cheaper. And Superdrug's Natural High is a dead ringer for Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (I need lots of help with my skin too!). The newish Max Factor mascara is great too (can't remember what it's called, but it's in a black tube with gold writing), especially for contact lensed people like me, who can't wear many mascaras.

Happy Birthday Rosie! Gad you're having a nice day IC.

Who asked about naps? My DD2 has two, but they vary in length and timing.

DD2 is much better now and nights are returning to normal. DH is home with all limbs intact (he once came home from skiing with a broken shoulder - I was pg with DD1 at the time). I'm still panicking about work, even though DD2 seems to be settling OK at nursery. I think I'm just worried that they don't think she's as amazing as I do...

Stangirl · 26/01/2011 14:42

Do any of you have advice about how I'm going to bf when I have a toddler running around and crawling all over me? My DP and I were puzzling this last night - I suggested getting a taser but DP says that would be illegal. How else will I keep the many armed monster away?

Stangirl · 26/01/2011 15:54

BREAKING NEWS My DD finally has a tooth! I was just reaching inside to extract the golf tee she was attempting to eat and felt it. Then had a look and there it was. She has so far not demonstrated any typical teething symptoms - is that unusual? Might she do so for the next one?

BabyGiraffes · 26/01/2011 16:45

Didn't get the job (predictably) and I am feeling pretty cross just now because I'm beginning to feel like they are all wasting my flipping time inviting me to interviews (somewhat paranoid here?) Angry

InmaculadaConcepcion · 26/01/2011 19:03

Aw, BG, that sucks. Pah. Bloody idiots.
Angry

Stangirl, no teething dramas here either. DD had a couple of restless nights when the top two came through, but otherwise, no probs so far. Thank your lucky stars!

As for controlling a toddler, I think most people use the visual opium that is CBeebies... Grin

Ahhh just sat down. DD in bed and I have been up since her 4.30am wake. I have had a busy day at work too. It is as though I never left.

Just came on to say Happy Birthday Rosie!! IC Hope you have had a fabulous day with her and DH.

Oh I too big fan of Benefit concealer. Stays put!
PA you ok? Come and tell us how youre doing.

Off to do some washing...oooh fun. Working from home tomorrow. Prays DD sleeps through. Yeah as if Grin

InmaculadaConcepcion · 26/01/2011 19:51
