Spot - gorgeous to hear from you. Projectile voms sound miserable. Poor you.

We're off to music lesson for DD1 now - lots of singing and dancing - she loves it. DD2 just watches slightly bemused and occasionally howls with laughter. It's rather lovely. Hoping DD2 doesn't do any more poos to make her cry. Do I just use warm water to wash her, rather than babywipes? She's just had 20 mins nappy off time and metanium before putting nappy back on.

traceface · 28/01/2011 10:40

Beans poor little dd2. I would defo stick to water instead of wipes, lots of bare bum time and magic metanium likie you are doing.
I'm a bit concerned about our JB. Hope the daily checks are going ok.

vagolaJahooli · 28/01/2011 11:09

Oh yeah Trace, I wander if the kept her in? How many weeks is JB now? She is so calm about the whole thing. I guess she's delt with a fair bit healthwise.

Beans curled one off, you crack me up.

Pubie I imagine they would need to know about pets but should still have someone.

Just took DS2 for a walk down the street to pick up some stuff. As long as your not in a hurry, a walk with a toddler is so much fun.

LadyThompson · 28/01/2011 11:46

Smashing with the potty, Beans! Sorry about DD2, poor little poppet. Oh and what are you weightloss tips, please?

I know I keep posting and running but DP is going to be back in under 45 mins and I am still in pyjamas, we all got up very late. I think DD2 skipped her 7am feed as she had jabs yesterday. But I did just want to say to Spot - I didn't get as far as Gaviscon but what I would definitely do is use that and swap back to normal, as the Gaviscon will be stronger than the stuff in the comfort milk. Also, preferably use the ready made cartons of normal for a bit (I know it's more expensive that way) because as Rubes has pointed out, they have fewer airbubbles and go down better. Only downside of the readymade is that my two found them a bit constipating.

Off to pictures with DP tonight after his work drinks! Then my night out in London tomorrow after a boring day sorting stuff at my storage!

vagolaJahooli · 28/01/2011 13:03

Spot which one is projectile vomiting? I'm sure its best to start off light but I'm a bit Hmm at the gaviscon, it don't do much for my pregnancy heart burn but I guess at the least it may reduce the acid burn. Nightmare for the poor little love, feeding isn't exactly the nice thing its supposed to be for him. At least he's getting mummy cuddles, they're nice. How is T? How are you? I'm not sure if it would help but I've got one of those baby nest hammock beds which are supposed to help reflux. It is at my friends house in Lewisham in sarf Lunnen. Your welcome to borrow it for the duration if you want. Ds2 had the voms but he slept quite well un it.

Avocadoes · 28/01/2011 13:09

Hello ladies

I am feeling a bit bleurgh today so I have decide to retire to bed with the laptop while DD2 has her nap. I can hear her singing in her cot, and I can hear the kids playing in DD1's playground, so I feel surrounded by happy children none of whom need my attention right now. Lovely.

Trace - I am sorry that you have been signed off work when you did not want to be. Is your psychiatrist going to get you anymore therapy to complement the drugs and rest? I hope the rest helps you feel stronger. Will P continue to go to nursery so you can have some real time to yourself?

Jolly - How goes it today? I hope everything is OK. Is anyone friends with Jolly on FB? Does she post there regularly? If so that might be a good way of checking how things are going.

Beans - Brilliant job on the weightloss. I got down to 10 stone 12 ounces just before christmas. Then I went back to 11 stone 2 ounces over christmas and there I am stuck. I find January the worst month for diets and exercise. I need my treats when its all cold and grey outside and how am I meant to find time to jog when its dark most of the time?? Excuses I know. You are an example to me. I hope your DD2's bottom gets better. Canesten is great if the rash is thrush, in which case it looks like lots of little spots grounded together. Otherwise stick with metanium and water washing. Have you changed her nappy brand recently? Some babies react badly to some brands.

Veg - Glad you had a good night with DS2. Is DS1's chin all mended now. Your mum did make me laugh on FB with her left-field comments.

Spot - Is the projectile vomiting DS2 or is there a bug in the house. If the gaviscon does not work remember the name omperazole. Its the real big guns but I have heard it can work wonders. Did the dr rule out that condition you were mentioning (I have forgotten the name)?

Lady - Your DD2 sounds gorgeous. Imagine what a joy she will be to wean! How goes the house? We are due to exchange on Monday and complete at the beginning of March so maybe we will both move at the same time. How close do you live to Blenheim Palace. Last summer I drove the girls out there for a few picnics as the grounds are so stunning and there is a great play area. Maybe this summer we could have a mini MN picnic there? Rubes are you nearish Blenheim?

Summer - Sorry you are still having food nightmares. I love the sound of your DS discovering the joys of having a little sister. And I know what you mean about the joys of reading to two babes cuddled together on your lap. There is nothing that can match it in some ways.

JJ - How is little Eleanor doing? Is the feeding all sorted now? Is your DH back at work?

Rubes - Glad you finally have a decision on the holidays. I hope you have a great time. When do you leave?

We are experimenting with a bit of potty training too. I am all for leaving it another six months as I trained DD1 when she was 2.75 and it was pretty painless. But our nanny has started letting DD2 wear pants around the house and this morning DD2 was furious when I tried to put a nappy on. So she was nappyless all morning and did two big wees in the potty. She is very proud of herself. A little too proud in fact. Once she has done her wee she likes to admire it in the potty and insists nobody pour it away so she can show visitors etc Hmm. She is just being so gorgeous at the moment. I can't believe I used to worry she was a troubled soul. She is just happiness personified at the moment. I love her so very much.

In other news I have reduced my hours at work a little so I can get home at 5.30pm instead of 6.45pm or later. Its just a temporary adjustment for Feb and March but the plan is to spend more time with DD1 and help her get to bed earlier. Apparently night terrors are often caused by being overtired and given she already sleeps 8pm-8am my only option is to move her bedtime forward for a while. It will reduce our time together but that is where the work adjustment comes in.

Beans33 · 28/01/2011 13:41

Thanks Avo - I had put her in pampers actifit by mistake, which I have taken her out of. And she is teething, so doing lots of runny acidy poos, which is why the nappy rash has appeared, I suspect. It is just really really red on her bum and fanny and it looks like there might be a couple of blisters as well.

Do you think it would be a bad idea to take her swimming?

That sounds lovely that you've reduced your work hours for a bit - if it works, will you be able to carry it on?

SummerLightning · 28/01/2011 13:50

Oh beans sorry about your horrid night. Hopefully you will have your good sleepers back soon and poor DD2. Not sure on the swimming. Is there something wrong with DD1 as well re her waking or not that you know of? I didn't half laugh at "curled one out". My DS is far from potty training. He often says he wants to sit on the potty to procrastinate over getting dressed, but will not do a wee or poo on it. And then this morning he says "Need a poo poo", "Do you you want to go on your potty?" "NOOOOO". Sigh!

Oh and beans well done on weightloss. I have lost another 2lbs too. V pleased. This morning was 10 stone, was 10 stone 7 at beginning of month so v chuffed. A bit more than half a stone to go so hopefully a month and a half of dieting.

Avo that is nice about the children not needing your attention. Ahhh, and relax. I think mine might both be asleep too. But dd due to wake up any mo so not for long. I think you mean lbs not ounces in your weight by the way!

DS been a bit better with food, he ate some tomato pasta sauce last night (with some carrot hidden in hurrah) and some spaghetti hoops today. Then he insisted on putting tobasco in them and was surprised that he didn't like them any more!

spot sorry to hear you are still having a bad time.

AHHHH DD2 awakes...back later.

SummerLightning · 28/01/2011 13:51

Oh and I think I remember JB saying she is not on facebook. I don't have her as a friend anyway.

Avocadoes · 28/01/2011 13:55

Ha! Oops. Well spotted Summer. I did indeed mean pounds. I was just checking you were all paying proper attention.

Well done on your own weight loss. Are you now lighter than when you conceived DD?

SummerLightning · 28/01/2011 13:56

Oh rubes bike looks good. It should do the job. Will the 18 inch be big enough for you?

Beans33 · 28/01/2011 14:06

Avo - I failed to notice. Useless. DD2 now sitting naked on a towel next to me having a lovely play with a toy hedgehog. She has the baby one and DD1 has the mummy one. V sweet.

I am finally lighter than when I conceived DD1! Hurrah! I don't think DH has really noticed, except that I'm now wearing short skirts and my skinny jeans, which he's delighted about. I don't look that great in them, but I feel good enough to wear them, and that's what counts!!!

Man, was going to nip to bed at lunchtime naps, but kind of knew it was pointless as DD1 goes to bed at 1 and DD2 always seems to wake up at 1.30. Grrr.

SummerLightning · 28/01/2011 14:22

Xposts avo - no!! I was about 9st 4 when I conceived DD, which was my normal pre DS weight. Hence the extra to lose!
However, I have been 10stone in my adult life pre kids at a particularly chubby stage, so I feel a bit more normal at this weight.
As you know I am v short so 9st 4 is not that light for me (I am a 10-12 at that weight)

SummerLightning · 28/01/2011 14:24

Beans, is that right you are lighter than when you conceived DD1?? That is so cool...are you done dieting then or do you want to be thinner?

Right I must do something useful while DS is asleep.

Beans33 · 28/01/2011 14:37

I am, but I'd piled on the weight after we got hitched. In 6 months, I went from 9 stone 10 to 11 stone 7!!! Terrible! But now am down to under 11 stone, which I've been trying to do for months. I'm keen to get down to 10 stone if I can, but 10 stone 7 would be lovely anyway.

vagolaJahooli · 28/01/2011 14:55

That's interesting about the night terrors and tiredness Avo, I think we need to get DS2 to sleep earlier. He was sleeping at 7-7.30pm but lately its been more like 8-8.30pm as he DS1 mess about a bit.

I refuse to be pulled into any potty talk, I'm still traumatised from last time.

And weightloss I've been going to gym 3 days a week and not much inroads made on the scales, I fear I may need to start thinking diet.

vagolaJahooli · 28/01/2011 14:56

Oh and I wander how Jammie is in NY.

DeidreBarlow · 28/01/2011 16:00

No potty talk here either!

beans I found Bepanthen(sp) to be quite good for nappy rash, DD for some reason seemed resitant to both Sudocrem & MetaniumHmm

JB Where are you, hoping everything is okay.

Weight, hmmm, well its coming off VERY slowly I reckon I've lost 8lb in about 4 weeks. Unfortunately my leg is still sore from Mondays run so I've not even exercised this week. Anyhow well done Beans & summer our new diet gurus! Hey rubes hows the soup going??

avo Thats good about getting to finish earlier, hopefully the early to bed routine will help with DD1's nightmares.

OP posts:
Beans33 · 28/01/2011 16:42

Oh my gosh, Deids - 8lbs in 4 weeks is fantastic! I've lost 10lbs in 5 months!!! I'd love to lose it a bit quicker, but am rubbish. Figure slow and steady wins the race. Plus I have the fear of returning to bulimic city, so have to watch myself as the urge is still there, which is irritating!

How long does Metanium usually take to work? No difference today, have bought canesten just in case. They recommended it in Boots.

Vag - you're probably gaining muscle and toning up. Sounds like you were amazingly fit beforehand. I saw your pics on FB of you doing a triathlon with both kids - amazing! I would like to do a sprint triathlon one day, but am just too wet about swimming. No pun intended!! Hee hee!

LadyThompson · 28/01/2011 16:44

JB isn't on FB, but I do have her email address. I bet she is just having to wait around in the hospital a lot, poor thing.

DB, what are you on about - 8lb in 4 weeks is great! Grin 2lb a week is the most that's recommended, isn't it, for healthy weightloss? You lot are al doing brilliantly. I am a deadloss with the weightloss as usual. Still the same weight I was when I conceived DD2 - ie, 12kg/coupla stone heavier than when I conceived DD1 Sad It is horrendous. Beans, in particular you have done so well. I need to go the more exercise/low card route.

Avo, that is super about the house, you must be really excited. We are having the chimney done next week, so in theory could move in after that (it's only the entrance hall and the garden that are grim now) but DP has heavy trials and we are off on the hol on 20 Feb (assuming the troubles in Egypt don't spread, a la Tunisia, and we are unable to go) so we will move in the week following our return on 7 March. Blenheim is about 6 miles from my new house, straight down the A44, and I can even get a bus there so count me in for a picnic in sunnier times - I would adore that. And yes, DD2 is a smasher. Mind you, DD1 is ace as well. When I took her for the 2yr check yesterday the HV held up a baby doll and said to her "Octavia, what's this?" And she said "It's a baby, like Dahlia. He's looking at the rocking horse." Grin She is becoming such a little pal.

Invis, I am sorry you have been racing around too much as usual (but I hope you have been reading lots of good books as I always like a juicy recommendation. I think I am going to go with the Pill so I appreciate the heads up!

Vag, as long as you are not in a hurry a walk with a toddler IS so much fun. Trouble is, I think I am always in a hurry! But I am still at the stage where I am glad she can walk at all, bless her, it's only been 4 months really.

LadyThompson · 28/01/2011 16:45

Low CARB not card. DOh!

Indith · 28/01/2011 16:53

Dd always got terrible rash with teething, she would bleep and weep it was horrible. Still gets rash now with her molars and she isn't in nappies! I left her as much as possible nappy free or just in a terry without a cover so I could see the instant she did a wee and change her. We used an emolient cream in the bath as a soap substitute and also used it on a wet flannel to cleqan her bum at changes. This helped to keep it moisturised. After cleaning and creaming I'd then put a thin layer of metanium on. You do have to watch it, dd's got infected once and she ended up with ulcers on her bits. Canestan will help to avoid that sort of thing. Since you have blisters I think it would be a good idea to put that on a couple of times a day. Once it happened we needed a mixture of fungal creamand steroid cream to clear it up.

Sorry for lack of naything else, dd screaming and wriggling on me. She really needs a cat nap but is refusing. She says her head hurts so may drug her.

This family needs a break. Dd been ill and/or teething since the chicken pox before Christmas. Dh is under the weather but working so hard and long hours he isn't getting therest he needs. He will be working this weekend too. I'm worn to the bone too but have to keep plodding along. We all need dd to get well and bloody well sleep and dh needs a rest (so that he can then take the dcs out for the day and give me a rest!). Roll on 12th of Feb and my mum babysitting. I just hope things have come together a bit for dh by then at work so he can switch off and enjoy it.

Rubena · 28/01/2011 17:09

Lady, sorry you had some sleepless nights. is everything ok? Text me if you wanna/can come over sometime.
That's funny dp didn't hear from the Aussie Lot. I'm sure he will the Brits. i'm doing the Aussie Passport next however I can't get an appointment until the 7th, and then can do the 2 day thing but I'm not sure whether to bother with the priority one for an extra £63 when I could leave it till after our trip I guess. They have told me to call Monday in case of cancelleations but I'm not sure I can sort the forms in time.

Beans, thanks I think we will start using sitters.co.uk after our hols. it's high time we stopped relying on mil as although she's wonderful, I don't want her to start thinking we can't do without her! RE the nappy rash. ds had an awful one a few months back and I had also coincidently started using those Pampers Active nappies and someone told me the same re the ingredients in them can worry some babies. his also had some blister type things and he would shake and scream during changes. I did caneston as well as I was told it may well have turned into thrush, then when the blisters dried up a bit I did metanium which fixed him right up. Also cut down his intake of raisins and satsuma's Hmm hope she feels better soon. it's awful and must be so painful. How is your Dad going?

Hi Deids, no we don't have potty talk either (or any talk really) although he's really taken to doing a poo while hovering around or holding on to the toilet but screams NOOO when I try and get him to take his nappy off and sit on it. long way off I'd say! The soup plan has been a bit half arsed this week as I had forgotton and shouldn't have started it on dh's b'day week, and he wanted curry and then last night we had Chinese, and today I had left over Chinese. I have had the soup for at least one meal per day but other than that have eaten total crap. My workout sensor thing battery went in one sensor so haven't done a workout in 2 days either, but 5 days in and I am down 1kg so I'm so spurred on my that, that I am going to do it properly next week! or I might even start from tomorrow again (well now really as I am having my soup for dinner Grin
Deids, do you run in the dark? I was thinking I might start running as I can take the dog, but dh isn't so keen on it since he's fixed many a knee as a result of running! I really should sell the cross trainer that sits collecting dust in the bedroom Blush

Summer, yeah he reckons it's fine if you have a tallish seat post. I text him to ask and he rambled on with a whole lot of bike part chatter which I didn't really understand, but assures me it's fine and says it will fit from 5'6-5'10 person Hmm I'm 5'9. he said it has a stand over height (maybeHmm) of 31 inches and I have a 34 inside leg and rambled on about other stuff about it so guess it's fine Hmm his mountain bike is the same size, but I did notice he does have a very tall seat post. Says he'd prefer that to having a larger therefore heavier frame - oh I dunno.he's got a load of things he plans to replace of it as he said some of the parts are crap Hmm He's lost me.

Hi Avo, hope you are feeling better.
yes blenheim is very near LadyT. About 15 minutes I'd say - Lady? I'm a good hour from ladyT, but I'd happily drive out if it meant picnics and places for ds to run Grin if it was nice weather and we could make a day of it.

dh had a nice b'day but we are holding off on his present as he wants a new bike which I heard hasn't been released yet or something (plan was originally to pick it up in the US) he rang from work though as they had a vendor it and wanted to know if I wanted any perfume or cosmetics Grin So I got some new perfume on dh's birthday GrinHmm
Wow that was long....

Rubena · 28/01/2011 17:18

Lady - oh good I was pretty accurate about Blenheim location! DD1 is hilarious - excellent form at the 2 year check! DD is so not a porker. She's quite tall, but still a bit picky with her bottles and tends to eat way more at night than in the daytime. She's really nosey and is too interested in the daytime world Grin Even at swimming they can't get her attention as she's staring wide eyed at the other babies in a sort of trance Hmm

DeidreBarlow · 28/01/2011 17:36

Indith You've had a real bad run of late. A holiday sounds like it is definately in order.

rubes Yeah i do run in the dark sometimes. I have a high vis jacket and have a route that takes me on the pavements nearly always on a well lit main road. I do worry though about my knees...my 'injury' seems to be one knee and the thigh bit just above it.

Yikes DS has just 'curled one off' on the carpet....
