Had a quick squiz back.

All I can say is weightloss and gym talk. Well done girls that is all amazing! I will be back to it tonight too. Chicken stir fry and pilates.

Sorry for all the poorlies. Beans how is DD's bottom now?

ALso did I see talk of potty training and some of the DC being dry already?!? I will not be attempting to do DS2 until at least the Summer.

SL are you getting anymore sleep?

Hurrah for chimneys getting done.

Spot so sorry you are having such a tough time. I second the check on here for reflux loads of good advice

Trace my darling dont be hard on yourself. You need a break and some extra support nothign wrong with that atall. COme on here and natter to us lot. Big old squishy hug for you.

Am liking the DH's being like shadowing 19th century mill owners and barely mentioned on her. Haha if only they knew. Have to say am quite honest with DH about mumsnet.

Kiwi how are the tantrums?

I know I have missed masses sorry my loves.

Well NY was awesome! We did lots of eating and drinking and just generally relaxing. Loads of shopping. I had forgotton how pleasurable browsing in shops can be when you dont have 2 children with you.

We also went out with a few friends one night and got completely wasted. Had to do the uber polite stupid tourist act with a bouncer as I couldnt be bothered to que for 20 mins to use the bathroom in a bar and went to the gents, they were trying to throw me out as he said it was illegal to use the mens, oops. Grin I then had another convo with a bouncer type chap as he said that we were not allowed to dance in the area of the bar we were in. According to him you can only dance by law in the designated dancing area. Honestly the world has gone health and safety bonkers. We were rather hungover the following day. We are both in our mid 30'2 you would have thought we would be able to not get drubk at the drop of a hat.

I did miss the boys a wee bit. Chatted to them on the phone one arvo and ended up weeping in Bloomingdales as DS1 was saying I love you Mummy. The boys were aparantley brilliant and very polite. Although the inlaws did look utterly exhausted. Any one got any good ideas what we can buy them to say thankyou.

Have to go and get ready for the funeral now a friends nanny is having the boys for me. Dont really want to go as it will be awful but one of those you have to go type things.

traceface · 01/02/2011 12:11

jam glad you had a great time away. I'll be thinking of you this afternoon.
beans poor little Pru. Hope her temp comes down soon.
I've never been to Waitrose, but have just been round at a friend's house and was quite tearful - she gave me a waitrose tissue and it was very soft and absorbant!
SL sorry you're ill - yes it's rotten when you have to look after littlies when you feel rubbish. Hope it soon passes.
I'm enjoying the toddler conversations very much Smile
P was so adorable last night, putting all her teddies to bed and kissing them and giving them milk, but then she was not so adorable at 1am when she had a 45 minute screaming tantrum because she wanted me to read her a book.
Hope JB is ok.
And we've not heard from WG for a little while.

Rubena · 01/02/2011 12:16

baby monitor went dead in the night therefore didn't hear dd too fast and was howling by the time I arrived which then woke ds up. he was miserable from about 2am-4am when I gave him milk and Ibuprofen. No temp but coughing so back to the docs in fear of another / the same returned ear infection. Nada. All good so perhaps just being a bit dramatic. Seems ok today but won't eat.

Hope you're hanging in there Jolly!

Glad you had a nice time Jam. Hope the funeral goes as best it can Sad

Hope dd feels better Beans. Not sure where we are going but I'll be meeting Lady late morning somewhere which works for all. Be great if you could come.
Brilliant news on the skinny jeans!

Effie would be great to see you and anyone else too.

Vag, hows the soup? I've just had a bowl for lunch. I'm stepping it up this week to minimum 2 meals a day of it, as last week I was half arsed about it but still this morning on day 8 I am just under 2kg down, even with Curries, cheerfulness and Chinese thrown in! Happy daysGrin

Rubena · 01/02/2011 12:37

Oh and My brother's house directly in line for Cyclone Yasi. Nice. He's waiting to see if his house is on the evacuation list for Wednesday. Says it's full on, however he seems quite casual about it at the moment. I'd be packed and outta there....

SummerLightning · 01/02/2011 13:05

Gah DD's bottle refusal so annoying. Screamed the house down just now, I tried it when she wouldn't be hungry and had just slept thinking she could just play with it and see, but she got all hysterical, and I had to feed her in the end to calm her down as cuddling wasn't working.

It wouldn't be so bad if she ever slept in the evenings, but now I can't even go out to my turbo training class, and can't go out for dinner for DH's birthday which is booked on Friday, still haven't been out for my birthday (2 months ago). I am getting quite sick of the sight of her cute as she is.

Yikes about your Bro's house Rubes, hope it avoids it..

EffiePerine · 01/02/2011 13:17

Will she take a bottle from anyone else, Summer? I'm not much help I'm afraid as DS1 loathed bottles and I went straight to a beaker with DS2. Could she manage a sippy cup do you think?

SummerLightning · 01/02/2011 13:26

No, she won't. A week and a half ago she would, I decided that we would give her formula every evening to give me a break, and since then she's decided she Won't Have It.

I don't think so on the sippy cup. I think she'd be a bit crap with it but we could try!

poisondwarf · 01/02/2011 13:55

Mmmm, just sitting down to cheese & crackers and Effie's home made apple butter. Top notch! Can't stop eating it.

Jam welcome back! Never been to NY myself but quite fancy it one day. What can I say about the funeral? How could it be anything but horrendous? Just awful. Btw I hope it didn't sound like I was trying to poach people from your gathering on Friday - was just wondering if there was anyone about who wasn't able to make it to yours anyway.

Blimey Rubes that sounds scary about the cyclone.

Beans how did it go at the doctor's?

Wish I could come along on Monday but am working. Bah. Would love to see a few of the littlies - they all sound so cute at the moment. Loving the stories. DD is turning into quite the hypochondriac herself. Whenever I ask her to do anything it's "I can't Mummy, my back's hurting" (I had a bad back a couple of weeks ago) and her range of ailments includes sore toes due to a ladybird pinching them.

Eek, best get back to work!

Beans33 · 01/02/2011 14:23

Jam, I meant to say - DH and I going to Barcelona for long weekend in March. He's doing marathon on the Sunday, but we've got a full day before flying back on Tuesday and I know I should make the most of no kids for a quality full night's sleep. BUT all I want to do is get hammered!!! So I totally get where you're coming from on your drunken escapades!!

Beans33 · 01/02/2011 14:25

And theatre tokens v good thank you present to inlaws. Or just lovely bouquet of flowers or a case of vino.

vagolaJahooli · 01/02/2011 15:08

SL I'm same as Effie in that both boys were not into bottles and went straight to sippy cups. We were very lucky were we lived in Derby as we were literally 2mins drive from loads of really good restaurants so if DS2 woke for a feed while we were out I would just pop back give him a quick feed then go back out again. Usually he fed around 9 so I'd order dinner, have my starter, then pop back for the feed then DH would order my cocktail and by the time I got back usually within 20mins it would be ready waiting for me....mmmmmm cocktails. I miss summer.

Jam hooray for NY shopping, but sad about the funeral. It's nice to think she wants you there to help her through this.

Lady fingers crossed for things settling down in Egypt soon.

PD I can't stop thinking of Apple butter now, yum Effie. Might have to get the recipe for next years apple picking season.

Rubes I love the soup I added some miso paste and DS2 had some with his lunch too. He seems to need to sample everything I eat. I had a couple of cruskits with homous with it too as I did some core and strength work so just a bit of protein.

Sadly the gym creche did not go well. I only managed a 26 minute run. I did the core and strength work when I got home. I had to adlib on the weights with household items. But the good news is I was running comfortably at 9km/hr for the 26minutes and was considering running for another 20 mins at least. My aim for this fourth week was to run at that pace so now I have 4 weeks to hit the next target with is to run at 10km/hr. Poor DS2 just watched me from the creche and cried the whole time so they called me on the PA to.come get him. I was in need of a shower so DS2 had to come with me to the showers and changeroom. He had scantily clad women cooing over him, a fact which his dad will be quite jealous to hear.

vagolaJahooli · 01/02/2011 15:10

Oh and beans well done on the skinny jeans.

Kiwi I meant to say hooray that she has improved, has it kept up. DS2 literally changed overnight and like babyAvo has been just lovely lately.

Pubes hope DS feels better soon, maybe hes grumbly about being woken.

Beans33 · 01/02/2011 15:22

Temperature 38.9. Hmmm. When do you panic??!

Beans33 · 01/02/2011 15:26

PS Vag - that's brilliant on the work out, despite interruption. You are wonderwoman. X

Rubena · 01/02/2011 16:01

Beans I'd probably get concerned if it goes over 39 - in fact I did with ds when he had ear infection, plus dd is so little.

Well done Vagola. I'd probably have used ds as the excuse to get off since I hate the tradmill, although I did use it 3 times a week before my wedding with great results.
Think I'm going to take up running.... Hmm

DS is a lot brighter this afternoon. Wouldn't nap at all though which only happens when he feels ill. So I got him after 30 mins as he was just sitting on his bed crying Sad seems happier now though and keeps getting my bag as i mentioned going out to Mothercare to see if he will use a buggy board. (mil wants me to get one as she hates using the P&T and to be fair ds does want to walk 90% of the time) Although I like the P&T and use it loadds but won't be taking it on hols so the buggy board might be good if he likes it.

I have just bought a very expensive ultra lightweight travel cot from Amazon in the US so I can collect it when we get to the US as it was cheaper there than here. Our current one was given to us and is SO heavy so we mainly use it at home for people who stay with babies in tow. Don't know how it can be considered a travel cot.
I have just cut ds's hair as he had developed another mullet Blush quite impressed at my skills, and that he let me do it!
Lady, gosh the ongoing passport saga. have discovered there is a section that needs dh and I to sign seperately (each parent has to give permission) and even that signature has to be witnessed (by anyone) so dh took it to work and his boss did that part (but wouldn't do the rest as he's never laid eye's on dd) and then I'll find someone to witness me signing it. If I can't find someone tomorrow, I will get my friend to witness on Thurs and then send it special delivery if you are there Friday to sign for it? The other slim chance is, we are waiting to see if our doc friend in Fulham is home on wed night as dh will be in London, and if so we can meet him after dh finishes work and have him do the whole thing. I will let you know, but can you let me know if it will be too late to overnight it to you to receive by Friday? I'll be so glad when this is over and done with, as will you and dp I'd imagine Confused

What's happening on Monday then, ie who can meet us? I might bring dd then if there are others coming? Also what is happening on the 11th - Jam are you still having people at yours or has it moved to RFH? I know there was talk of both..

Hmmmm ight have to wake dd. She had a little bit of lunch, a small bottle and then did a big up the back poo then fell asleep AGES ago!

Summer, not sure what to advise. I've not really had a bottle refuser - perhaps due to my boobs being so crap. I tried her with the Tommee Tippee cup and she looked at me like I was mental Hmm so I can understand why that might be hard. However I put ds straight on a nuby soft spout which he took to really fast after the bottle - maybe try that.
OK really must go....

Beans33 · 01/02/2011 17:18

Cripes again! It's gone up to 39.1 under the armpit, and apparently you're meant to add .5 degrees for accurate reading. Am waiting on call back from the doctor... Fingers crossed all ok. Thing is, she doesn't seem that ill. She has had all her milk feeds and even a bit of lunch. V odd.

Rubena · 01/02/2011 17:51

Beans are you using a reliable thermometer? Ibuprofen should bring it down until the doc can see her? Unless you've already got her dosed and it's still at that - in which case I'd get her in there if you can I reckon.

Mothercare was funny. DS was pushing a pink trike around the shop that he found there and a staff member asked if she could help me, and ds thought he was in trouble and hid behind a big cardboard sign when he thought he was in trouble! Grin

JamInMyWellies · 01/02/2011 17:59

Beans, alternate calpol and nurofen 2 hourly. Give he a tepid bath. If she seems fine and is eating ok I wouldnt be too concerned. I would go out and buy a proper thermometer though Grin

Funeral awful thought my heart was going to break.Sad Her DS 3yr helped carry the little wicker coffin. Just so moving. It was quite beautiful though. I am so proud of my friend for managing to get through it. Afterwards we lit 28 sky lanterns as that was his age when he was born.

LadyThompson · 01/02/2011 18:19

Oh crikey Jam, it's just terrible. That poor couple.

Rubes, am just dashing on but will be back later with some ideas about Mon 7th. Will be in on Friday morn, absoutely no worries.

Bit hectic here as both girls now have the stinky cold, DD1 still has radioactive goo and a cough now as well and I am trying to do a zillion tings at once as flippin' usual.

Beans, Jam's advice is good I reckon, and thanks for the info off This Morning! That is good news I think.

More later, chicas

Rubena · 01/02/2011 18:28

Jam - so sad I could hardly bear to read that Sad

I'm going through a really odd phase (hope it a phase) in that I'm completely freaked out that something is going to happen to one of the dc's. For eg the other day I drove to toddler group which I never do as it's about a quarter of a mile Blush but from the carpark there's a busy road to cross, and ds was holding my hand and I kept imagining what if he got away - ran into the road etc. That's just one example, but I keep imagining awful things that might be possible etc etc before I do things Sad Even nightmares the other night about stuff. Has anyone else ever had this sort of thing? I did very early on when ds first started walking but it went away.

Right dh home late again so double baths since dd did an up the back poo.
Then bed as he has barely napped.

poisondwarf · 01/02/2011 19:27

Rubes I felt a bit like that the first few months after DS was born. DP used to say when he carried DS in the Bjorn he felt protected from the nutters that roamed the streets of Hackney, whereas I used to imagine wallops coming out of nowhere when I walked down the street. I also used to be really paranoid about leaving the windows open at night even though it was boiling hot and we were 2 floors up. I think it was more a hormonal thing than anything - I reckon you must have a good few new mum hormones sloshing about still (how old is DD now? I forget). Or could your weight loss be affecting your mood maybe?

Jam the funeral sounds unbearable.

Random fb question for spot & Jam: I've just noticed that you are both friends with someone called DH who is also friends with one of my friends. Is she a Dec 08er? If so who?

Beans33 · 01/02/2011 19:33

Been to doctor. Her temperature is 39.1. He said it's a diarrhoea bug. Hmmm. I'm not to give her any milk and just water with dioralyte. Clearly she won't drink the water with or without dioralyte!! And she's had calpol and a tepid bath and is asleep again. Good.
DD1 puked at nursery, but is fine. I feel a bit wrung out and weepy and it's not even anything serious!! WET!

spotofcheerfulness · 01/02/2011 19:40

Shitters, T just fell down stairs and DP has taken him to A&E, I think he's probably fractured his collar bone Sad. i know never a good time but this is spectacularly bad.

BEans T regularly has temps of 39+ when he has an ear infection. I would go by her general demeanor, I think some kids just have higher temps, but def best to wait and see.

GP gave domperidone and ranitidine but wants us to come back tomorrow and I suspect we'll be back at hosp with different child. Not pyloric stenosis though, which is a relief. I wonder if developing allergy? Screamed blue murder for 4 hours this afternoon at any rate.

I have a feeling we may be in the hands of the medical profession a fair but in the near future. Thank god for the NHS.

Jam so glad you had a good time in NY, that's really nice. Sorry you will have had such a sad time this afternoon.

Vag sorry DS2 didn't settle into the creche, but maybe next time you could go and stay with him the whole time, and the following time drop him off for just half an hour and build up from that?

Rubes sorry DS2 going through a rough time, could it be the back molars coming through or does he have them already? THat passport nonsense sounds like a right faff.

spotofcheerfulness · 01/02/2011 19:49

X posted with loads but so sorry Jam, will post more later, DS2 awake.

JamInMyWellies · 01/02/2011 19:52

Beans glad you took her. Try buying the blackcurrant diarolyte then adding a teeny bit of squash to it. And give it to her warm. Thats always how I get mine to take it.

Rubes I too was like PD. Used to really panic. Very similar with the windows. I actually wanted to sleep in the same room. I would regularily have panics about something awful happening. It has lessened with time. But occasionally still get it. I used to talk to another MN friend about it and we would discuss out mentalness over it. Totally normal.

PD yes she is a MN. I know her from when we lived in the mean streets of East London. SPot and I prob know her through another mutual friend/MN.

Veg shame your workout was cut short, but it sounds like you are doing brilliantly.

So 11th at mine is it just SL & Rubes?? Am still happy to do a little luncheon at mine. Just let me know. Sadly cannot do lunch on Monday as the horrors have plans.
