vagolaJahooli · 14/01/2011 15:33

Uhh FFS!! Piece?! Bloody phone. Why does it insist on throwing in random fullstops!!!

Oh and in other news I've decided to start my Doula training. I've found a place I can do it online. I contacted the Doula association here and apparently there is big demand for English speaking Doulas in the Hague and Rotterdam.

vagolaJahooli · 14/01/2011 15:37

Um Rubes, I don't think I'd ever mistake you for a stupid young mother Grin.

LadyThompson · 14/01/2011 15:49

Yes, I was earnestly puzzling how Finland fitted in to the wider debate, Vag. I assumed it was part of the bit about Scandinavia Grin

Hang on, you're older than Rubes, cheeky! But around here it's only Indith who is the right side of 30 anyway, am I right?

KiwiPanda · 14/01/2011 15:51

Vag I am now very concerned that my BM may be insufficient in Scandinavian countries. Should I start supplementing DD's diet with added Norway, too?

Of course, the "you give healthy BM, I give biscuits" argument might make me feel better if DD wasn't a small, determined CAKEMONSTER

LadyThompson · 14/01/2011 15:56

On the MIL pre-visit cleaning fests, I always try to clean and tidy (DP couldn't give a toss). But how's this for a burn: she would usually clean and tidy on top of my cleaning if I went out anywhere. It used to infuriate me. She doesn't do it any more, even though I didn't say anything. I kinda miss it now Grin She is a brilliant cleaner.

Indith · 14/01/2011 16:14

Does Danish pastry count as a nutrient?

Am I the baby? You wouldn't think so with my eye bags.

Vag fantastic on the doula training front! You'll be amazing.

LadyThompson · 14/01/2011 16:23

Yes Vag, you'll be a lovely doula.

Mom - hoping for a turn for you!

Hope JJ is ok. I am reckoning she will choose Katherine as a name, I think it was in the running.

Naming kids is such FUN.

spotofcheerfulness · 14/01/2011 16:27

Great news on the doula training front, Vag, I reckon you'll be ace.

We did go for William in the end, as we've been calling him Billy for a week now and it would be odd to change it. I know DP isn't wild about it but it'll grow on him and I have given him plenty of opp to change his mind. Plus he gets his surname, rather than a double barrel (he has my surname as his middle name) so I think that's fair.
Was going to post my two penarth on the BF/FF question but T just back from nursery so later...

EffiePerine · 14/01/2011 16:44

Re baby names for JJ, I'd love a Jane on the thread :).

Rubes: I hope you don't think I was dissing you re the supply issue. It's just that my sis and I had v similar childbirth and small child experiences, so I bet her early problems w bfing were v much like mine. I could of course be wrong. I know that she needed a lot more support from her (now ex) husband (may boils grow on his behind).

vagolaJahooli · 14/01/2011 16:59

What about Katherine Jane?

Where's Rubes gone? Do you think she's off reading the side of dds formula tin to see if it contains an efficient northern country. Poor old pet, she probably can't find her specs.Grin

Lady, I am clearly an ageless, sandal wearing, long-term breastfeeding hippy Wink

Hooray for William. Spot I was that anamoured of DS2's name but now I love as he really owns his name and it suits him so well.

vagolaJahooli · 14/01/2011 17:01

Oh and Lady I meant to say earlier, I'm pleased you managed to get £500 off that's quite a difference.

LadyThompson · 14/01/2011 17:30

Jane's nice. It's also the middle name of someone I know quite well

Susannah? I think that was another one they were thinking of but I could have dreamed that.

It's nice to get them registered, isn't it Spot? I felt a bit on edge until we got DD2 done, (partly in case DP changed his mind about her first name, he was never that sure). But he likes it now. Oh heavens, she's adorable. She has taken to smiling with her jaw open really wide, and she looks very slightly mad, like a delighted Muppet Grin And her laugh sounds like someone is honking a very, very, small horn. I am potty about them both but I think DD2 is a bit more of a chilled character, whereas DD1 is, erm, a little less so, like Daddy Grin

EffiePerine · 14/01/2011 18:11

Kiwi: when you said your DD was a cakemonster, I immediately thought of this: hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/10/god-of-cake.html

JumpJockey · 14/01/2011 18:21

Dd2 arrived 3.15, 6 lb 10 we're both staying in for observations for 48hrs but otherwise all seems to be ok. :)

notjustanumber · 14/01/2011 18:23

JJ let me be the first to say MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to you ! Back later.

vagolaJahooli · 14/01/2011 18:27

Hooray, well done JJ, wow that was quick. Thank you for getting on so promptly to let us know.

vagolaJahooli · 14/01/2011 18:37

Effie I just read that link you posted, hilarious.

EffiePerine · 14/01/2011 18:40

Hooray!!!

spotofcheerfulness · 14/01/2011 18:51

Wow, well done JJ Grin. That's fantastic news, hope you manage to get some rest after what must have been an exhausting day.

LadyThompson · 14/01/2011 19:30

Oh, that's wonderful JJ, many congrats! Same weight as DD2 (who was a couple of days off 40 wks!)

EffiePerine · 14/01/2011 19:33

Vag: this is my favourite, for the pics alone: hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/06/this-is-why-ill-never-be-adult.html

vagolaJahooli · 14/01/2011 19:45

I love it Effie, and so me and in fact most people I know.

I've just read a couple of reports on that latest review of baby nutrition research. I have decided give up on the UK the review is a bit ropey as is but the reaction to it in the papers is ridiculous. For crying out loud when will they leave mums alone!

EffiePerine · 14/01/2011 19:45

That hooray was for JJ btw Grin. What a good weight!

Rubena · 14/01/2011 20:10

YAY JJ!!! Congrats! What's her name?

No Vag! LOL Grin I was running around trying to check-n-send dd's Brit passport and her Aussie Citizenship apps Angry more in a minute on that.....

I'm 37 this year, and no I won't be hurling any dog grooming attachment tools, I love it tooooo much, plus it cost me £40! And besides that, I respect my elders Grin

My workout today kicked my arse.... it only says I burnt 150 cals but my average HR was 150 and I peaked at 183 loads - that's probably bloody awful. I'm so unfit.

Effie - not at all - didn't even see where you could possibly have thought that? it was Indith I decided was dissing me Grin but she's younger than me therefore I'm wiser Grin No, nobody has pissed me off except the damn woman at the Post office.

Lady, you're not going to believe this. I went down and did all the Aust stuff - sent, fine, then the UK one she said "Oh you've signed the bit that you need to leave blank, you'll have to do another one, but I have to charge you 8 quid whatever.... but you can bring it back Monday and we won't charge you to check it again" I could have cried.
Anyway, she assured me it only takes about 10 days at the moment, or if I want can do a 1 week fast track but really not necessary. Don't worry, there's no way I'm bothering you and DP again with this for my own stupid hasty filling it out. I thik I was just so tired, and normally check and double check things, but ds has taken it all out of me this week [shattered]
I have spare photo's so dh is going to have me drop him at work, get his colleague to run out and view dd Grin and then I'll submit it Monday. So tell dp to just expect a call from the Aussie lot, and again thank him for his time with this, and so sorry I did that stupid error and then made him spend time on it Confused
Right, so excited for JJ and MrJJ Grin can't wait to hear a name Grin

LadyThompson · 14/01/2011 20:17

typing onehanded as feeding dd2 but rubes, PLEASE RESEND if that taking dd into work is a hassle. it is truly no bother for us. promise xx
