2010 - the best year of my life, for half of it I was pregnant and for the other half had my baybee. Grin

Not sure I can face bottle today but I know I must. Think we'll do it at lunchtime as jabs later. God I feel terrible for poor Babymoo. So thrilled he slept til 5.20 though!

CUNextTuesday · 04/02/2011 08:37

Take me through this logically moo. Which bit is the cause of the upset? The falling asleep? The erratic bottle feeding? The chaotic feeding session? What is your night time routine? Lets see if we can help.

Hom and i went Out last night to cram our faces with popcorn and watch Black Swan. THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND. Something odd has happened since i last went out for the night though: two cinema tickets cost me the better part of 24 sheets, and on~e vodka red bull and one diet coke came to £10.50. Have i been on Mars for the last 10 months or so? No wonder the place was deserted. Comes to something when you have to save up for a night out at the pictures

AlpinePony · 04/02/2011 08:50

We thought our local cinema was taking the pee when they charged 9.50 (euros) for Dark Knight as it was "longer". Normal price is 8.50 - personally I still find that quite a lot. Then, as you say - 3 euros for a bottle of fizzy coloured water. Confused Conversely we're off out to one of our favourite restaurants this weekend where we'll get a 3 course meal with drinkies (for me) for 50 euros. It all seems very topsy-turvy. Mediocre laptop bag = 60 euros, pair of men's boxers = 22 euros, flight to Spain = 6 euros. Wtf? My mortgage will be the same as childcare for only 2/3 days a week. Obviously Bear is more important than a house.

I have just given Bear a soldier with butter (salted Blush) and jam on it whilst I got cracking on with the washing up. Turned around - soldier MIA. Happy dog sat next to him. Do not believe he ate entire massive soldier in seconds. Hmm

OP posts:
CluckyKate · 04/02/2011 11:51

Question is did the soldier jump or was he pushed? Hmm

Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine

....just spotted these and lining them up for when this baby decides to put in an appearance Grin

OkieCokie · 04/02/2011 12:40

May be you should jus drink those now Kate.

Both offspring havng daytime nap at same time. Hurrah!

Cunty 24 sheets for the cinema? We would also have to fork out £8 p/h for a babysitter too

Backinthebox · 04/02/2011 13:38

Kate is being curiously quiet on the subject of her preferred method of pain relief. She is going on and on about pools and hippo-birthing, but is staying schtum on the fact that I know for certain that the first thing she organised was shots of Jagermeister. I kid you not Hmm

Moo You ask why you are trying to do bedtime bottles. Why ARE you? I am not a fan of trying to mix feed types - it always seems to cause so much stress for so little gain. I battled for a little while trying to get TT to take bottles when she was a baby and gave up after a while. It was far too stressful and not worth the bother. I BFed her and simply expressed a bottle for other people to faff with if I needed a rare day off/out. Once I went back to work she instantly and happily took bottles from other people if I wasn't there, but if I was even in the house would want booby. I flew half way round the world with my breast pump to keep my supply up, and the last feed she dropped was the bedtime one. The daytime feeds were far easier to get her to take a bottle. (Given the fights we had earlier on, it is possibly surprising to find she won't give up her bottle now for anything, even though she is 3 Hmm)

The bedtime feed is a lovely time for both of you, and lots of babies love the cuddles and snuggles they get as they drift of to sleep. I personally don't know why anyone would fight so hard to give that up so soon, but each to their own. I think at such a young age that getting them to try and take a bottle so you can have an evening 'off' is more bother than it's worth, but that's just my opinion and I won't be offended if you don't agree. I get plenty of time 'off' in the evenings at the moment, as long as it is between 7pm and midnight. I leave a bit of expressed milk which LG eyes with disgust and then feed him lots when I get in. In fact, due to a mix up with bottles TT has drunk more of my expressed milk than LG (she didn't like it but drank it anyway when she found it hanging round after a failed attempt with LG.) LG isn't malnourished because I go out once a week or so.

If you want to get him on bottles because your husband wants a go, he'll just have to accept there are some things men can't do. OH does bathtime instead, and that has always been his preserve.

Anyway, as Cunty says - let us try to help - give us a bit more info as to what exactly the main problem is.

In Box-land, LG has been entertaining his dad this morning with a hilarious never-ending run of pooey nappies. At toddler group a woman brought her 2 week old twins in - they are so tiny! Yet each of them weighs nearly as much as TT did when she was born. Babies grow so fast. :(

Wine ? It's not an option I can see, so thought i'd have a try.

I has miserable child whose nose is so runny she is blowing bubbles from it. No idea if it's a cold or teething related. But we had screaming like i've never heard before. Good job Fanny and I agreed to postpone. last thing she'd want is screaming girl amid moving nightmare. Rough night last night. We're at the ILs, so not being in usual house and cot not helping matters. BUT someone else is doing the cooking and i have babysitters!

Honey, please share more if we can help.
clucks get them all down your neck.

ooooooh it worked. What about Gin or [doughnuts] ?

CurlyCasper · 04/02/2011 16:34
Sad
rollerbaby · 04/02/2011 17:20

I am very much liking the wine emoticon. How many are you allowed? :)

curly poor little thing. Does calpol help at all in this circumstances? I am NOT looking forward to teething related matters I must say. If you have help with cooking etc, that has to be a good thing.

box you are right, I don't really want the hassle and everything you say is how I feel in terms of putting him to bed and comforting him. Especially now we are this far in and everything much easier. That said, I DO want the convenience of being able to to leave him with someone for the day or evening, and I don't want to breastfeed much beyond 6 months. Maybe just the one nighttime feed as you say. I'm not at all confident that he will take it from anyone. We've tried for weeks on end with daddy and grandma and then left it for a few weeks until yesterday. I thought the tongue tie was the issue, but having seen the consultant they don't think it's bad and shouldn't do anything. So, we have started again yesterday to try and reintroduce the bottle. The nurse giving jabs today said that it's promising he is taking a bit from the nuk bottle and to persevere - it may take a while. It's not fun for anyone, and I don't want to but I don't like the thought of him screaming for hours hungry whilst I'm not there... I might keep trying in the day for now, not bedtime and see how we get on.

Backinthebox · 04/02/2011 17:42

Moo have you tried just going out and leaving someone else to do it? TT wouldn't even consider it if I was there, but caved in eventually and took a bottle from my mum after I had been out at work all day. She wouldn't take a bottle till there was no other option though. Once we got her onto them she could switch between breast and bottle, but that was at 10 months and she was established on solids for 2 meals a day.

Btw I think you can have as many Wines as you want!

rollerbaby · 04/02/2011 18:44

We've tried mr moo or my mum giving him a bottle in the day or night with me downstairs and out of the room, but not physically out of the house. One day mr moo offered bottle at each feed with no boob. It worked at the first one, but got progressively worse at each feed. Screaming descended into me bfing after about 20 minutes. So I guess we just taught him if he cried long enough I'd feed him! I can't bear seeing him so upset, although I did pesevere last night hence me sobbing after he fell asleep.

SilverSky · 04/02/2011 19:00

Lovin' the vino emoticon!!!!

We seem to be back on track with our routine. Just the one feed in the night and if any other wakenings occur they are dealt with by the White noise app. This morning he woke about 3am and then again about 7 so not too bad!!

We are out tmw night with MB so I am sure it will all go to shit again!

He's been grumbling since we got home from an afternoon of socialising. So I've whisked him upstairs for his bedtime routine as he's rubbing his chops and yawning.

moo sorry to hear the bottles are not improving since the tongue tie. Also sorry that I have no reco's.

Does anyone else's baybee prefer to poo in a clean nappy?????? As soon as I change a wee sodden one I can almost guarantee that he'll poo five mins after!!

box guess what arrived today????? Yup - me life organiser. Suits me perfectly as I love filling in diaries / forms and shiz. I haz column for us peoples and one also for equine and k9 so we know who is on yard and walking duties! If HI doesn't cooperate I will be shoving the planner where the sun don't shine. Not ridden this week but then I guess there will be weeks like that. Such an ass that Mil is not obliging in the babysitting aspect. Never mind. We shall overcome!!!

We used (notice past tense!) to go to cinema on a Tues night cos it was two for one and we used to buy sweets/drinks/icecream from supermarket before going as you'd be lucky to get change from twenty squid if you bought from the cinema.

AlpinePony · 04/02/2011 19:41

I hope you have a fab holiday cunty - god knows you deserve it after all the looking after of your family you do! x

Can any of you clever ladies recommend me a phone - it'll be the first one I've bought myself in a decade and I haven't a clue. I walk up to the shop window - get flustered and leave. Will not buy apple products so no iphone. Anyone got anything else? Am thinking Blackberry Torch mebbe because it has real kbd and I hate touchscreen for typing.

I have seen babymoo in action and I must say I think Moo does an incredible job as babymoo can scream. I have never experienced the problems she has with feeding and bottles and given the healthy size that he is she is clearly doing grand despite his issue with the bottle!

Alps what is your issue with Apple? I don't have an iphone and have a b/berry (it is a work thing) but don't like it that much. If I had a choice I would have an iphone.

Today I have done lots, in fact probably too much as I am knackered and started to get very shouty at mini oke at bedtime. Went to a mother and toddler group this morning, a friends with a house full of kids early afternoon, and a soft play place late afternoon/tea time. Peppa lost the plot by about 5pm but I can't blame her as it was utter chaos. Mr C is making dinner and I have a glass of Wine in hand so feel a little less chewed.

SilverSky · 04/02/2011 21:43

okie sounds like a full on day so you thoroughly deserve to put your feet up!

tues have great time away and thank you again for the nappies. Really generous and kind of you! Are you skiing????

moo you are doing a sterling job. Don't let it get you down. Easier said than done I know. BabyMoo is clearly a boob fan. HI is trying to get MB to say boob as his first word. Can you imagine??

alps I have iPhone. Aside from the wanky predictive corrective annoying text that changes your whole sentence I find they are pretty good!!

So the question is...... Is Cluck about to become a Spa member ? Has the sneezing begun??

CUNextTuesday · 04/02/2011 22:22

Snowboarding sylvia. Cos i is cooler dan fuk innit

Backinthebox · 04/02/2011 22:55

Cluck is not yet sneezing. She is doing that bit where you go 'ooh, I've got a tickle in my nose' while wiggling it about. I am taking her hunting tomorrow. Well, what else can I do? What a think to be able to tell him though - you're mummy sneezed you out while chasing hounds across a stubble field :o I will bounce him out one way or another.

Which reminds me. We had a new lady at toddler group today. She felt the need to come along just to meet me because a mutual friend had told her she had seen me running across a field with a 3 week old baby at my breast out hunting one day. (tis troo, too. And I managed to get TT on the potty in a field while still feeding LG!)

AlpinePony · 05/02/2011 05:27

okie It's a principles thing. Whilst I know all of these products use slave labour/scare tactics on local populations/murder and amputation etc. to acquire the minerals for the LED screens, at least most companies have the good grace to keep shtum about it. Steve J*bs on the other hand gives it all this wanky shite about karma and how he "discovered Buddhism" when he travelled SE Asia. There are also questions about where he acquired his newly transported liver. Karma my arse. There ya go - in a nutshell! Wink

Transplanted maybe? Not sure about the transport! Blush

SilverSky · 05/02/2011 06:20

EMERGENCY!!!! Feel like shite! What drugs can I take?? Overnight I have acquired golf balls at the back of my throat. I am referring to my tonsils and not some sort of kinky game gone wrong! I fear I am getting the lurgy. Typically we are all going out tonight.

Any tips to keep a nosey baby's mind on the job whilst bf'ing. We are at the stage where we prefer to show mum's nip to the world and his wife whilst MB gawps at anything and everything.

AlpinePony · 05/02/2011 06:35

Homemade lemsip? Paracetamol, hot water, squeezed lemon, honey, dash of hard stuff? Baybees can have paracetamol innit - actually Nurofen have started doing stuff for baybees too from 3 months I think. I think if you're worried about affect on breastmilk then you're probably better off staying moderately pissed all day or have a joint. Wink Seriously, as long as you don't OD.

OP posts:
SilverSky · 05/02/2011 06:53

Fanks alps. Will Jif lemon work just as well?
