Kate is being curiously quiet on the subject of her preferred method of pain relief. She is going on and on about pools and hippo-birthing, but is staying schtum on the fact that I know for certain that the first thing she organised was shots of Jagermeister. I kid you not
Moo You ask why you are trying to do bedtime bottles. Why ARE you? I am not a fan of trying to mix feed types - it always seems to cause so much stress for so little gain. I battled for a little while trying to get TT to take bottles when she was a baby and gave up after a while. It was far too stressful and not worth the bother. I BFed her and simply expressed a bottle for other people to faff with if I needed a rare day off/out. Once I went back to work she instantly and happily took bottles from other people if I wasn't there, but if I was even in the house would want booby. I flew half way round the world with my breast pump to keep my supply up, and the last feed she dropped was the bedtime one. The daytime feeds were far easier to get her to take a bottle. (Given the fights we had earlier on, it is possibly surprising to find she won't give up her bottle now for anything, even though she is 3
)
The bedtime feed is a lovely time for both of you, and lots of babies love the cuddles and snuggles they get as they drift of to sleep. I personally don't know why anyone would fight so hard to give that up so soon, but each to their own. I think at such a young age that getting them to try and take a bottle so you can have an evening 'off' is more bother than it's worth, but that's just my opinion and I won't be offended if you don't agree. I get plenty of time 'off' in the evenings at the moment, as long as it is between 7pm and midnight. I leave a bit of expressed milk which LG eyes with disgust and then feed him lots when I get in. In fact, due to a mix up with bottles TT has drunk more of my expressed milk than LG (she didn't like it but drank it anyway when she found it hanging round after a failed attempt with LG.) LG isn't malnourished because I go out once a week or so.
If you want to get him on bottles because your husband wants a go, he'll just have to accept there are some things men can't do. OH does bathtime instead, and that has always been his preserve.
Anyway, as Cunty says - let us try to help - give us a bit more info as to what exactly the main problem is.
In Box-land, LG has been entertaining his dad this morning with a hilarious never-ending run of pooey nappies. At toddler group a woman brought her 2 week old twins in - they are so tiny! Yet each of them weighs nearly as much as TT did when she was born. Babies grow so fast. :(
