2010 - the best year of my life, for half of it I was pregnant and for the other half had my baybee. Grin

Well today was a better day. Boobs are defo fuller which has meant that when BB fed she was actually full up and then left it longer until the next feed - it has been 3-4 hours between feeds today instead of 2 hrs max. Huzzah! I have actually been able to put my tits away and get off the sofa now and again. I am really not very good at sitting around. Well, except when heavily pregnant - I was very good at it then!

Fanny and silv did you manage to get the cleaning done?!

SilverSky · 24/01/2011 07:36

FP it's a complete nightmare isn't it? Trapped on the sofa feeding whilst you are forced to look at all those bloody chores!

poo pleased you had a better day and BB granted you freedom for a bit!

So we had an ok time with the 'rents. Tho am bit miffed as I said to visit on certain days cos we are around, well because (of course is my fault!) I only said about Sun pm/eve and Tues eve they've gone and arranged to see friends/relatives today etc. Crafty! They better not complain that they haven't spent much time with MB. When I said about doing something today, it was met with "well you never mentioned Monday so we are off to see x, y and z". Why on earth would I suggest visiting A set three days if we were going to be busy??

Cosmosis · 24/01/2011 08:49

pols don't forget though you do get to the point where your boobs don't get that full feeling any more because your supply has synched with her needs - so no full feeling doesn't mean no milk. And second the above re expressing - sometimes I get nothing, sometimes I get loads.

And I'm afraid I think at her age 4 hours is too long, sorry. Artie only sometimes does that now - but then I do try and fill him up in the day in an attempt to get more sleep.

He had a bottle yesterday for the first time in ages, was worried he would refuse it, instead he decided to hold it himself, was so cute!

CurlyCasper · 24/01/2011 10:27

Squeaks is still three-hourly at 7 months - just some of those feeds are real food. Finger food going really well at mo. She loves toast! Can't stop as I am off for a day out - two mums, two babies and posh hotel for lunch! Bet she screams all the way there though...

luffs to all

SilverSky · 24/01/2011 11:45

Posh hotel sounds perfick curlysue!

Today I am now mostly twiddling my thumbs as thought would be out with the 'rents. Oh well, gonna take it easy and start my list of jobs to do! Never ends does it. I must do battle with the laundry basket as it's turned into a gremlin and keeps multiplying !!! Grrr!!! It doesnt even include MBs laundry as I keep that seperate.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend! Tho being on ML everyday feels like the weekend to me.

Cosmosis · 24/01/2011 11:46

If I think about it, I probably go less than 3 hourly without either a drink or something to eat :)

CUNextTuesday · 24/01/2011 14:29

casp how does sqweeks manage toast with no teeth? I'd be afraid of too much being sucked in at once and then choking ensuing! Also, butter or flora proactive? Grin

CurlyCasper · 24/01/2011 17:47

[bsmile]

sucks and drools, then chomps with gums! And she gets it dry, with sips of milk. She also likes these . Baby gag reflex occurs much further forward than ours, I'm told. So any small chokes result in spittage. nice!

day was fab. But she's howling a lot now Sad

CUNextTuesday · 24/01/2011 18:07

Overtired

CurlyCasper · 24/01/2011 18:11

you're probably right. But we are also seeing the start of separation anxiety I think.

oh., and those bloody gums! her cheeks are scarlet. Sad But the teething drool is apparently great for sloppy raspberries, which she will now do on demand if we blow first Grin

Milk also comes in handy for this purpose. Often during the feed I am about to give.

PollyPoo · 24/01/2011 18:49

Cos I worried too that she was going too long at night without milk. She generally does 3 hrly feeds during the day (apart from those few days last week when it was 2 hrly) and longer at night - anywhere between 4 and almost 6 hrs one night!

When Boo started sleeping longer at night the HV told me to make sure I woke her to feed every 3 hrs, but then again Boo had stopped gaining weight on the breast as my milk dried up by wk 3. Once on FF she gained 12oz in the first wk and started sleeping 6 hrs at night. At 5 wks she was sleeping from 9.30pm - 7am. HV said that before 6 wks she was too young to go that long, but attempts at waking her to feed resulted in very little feeding followed by 3 hrs with a screamy windy baby, so we gave up after a few nights.

This time round the advice is different (as is often the case!) and the HV said that as long as BB is feeding well during the day (6-8 feeds per day), gaining weight and having plenty of wet/dirty nappies then they recommend NOT waking at night. Her actual words were 'Why on earth would you wake a sleeping baby?' Hmm HV is coming again tomorrow so we'll see what weight BB has gained - in the first week she gained 2oz instead of losing some, and the next week she'd gained 12oz! I'm very happy for her to feed 3/4 hrly as long as she is thriving - that kind of timescale allows me to be Polly as well as mummy, which helps my mental state no end. It may sound selfish but having suffered terrible PND first time round I am desperately hoping I know how to avoid it this time.

Glad you had a good day CurlsWorld, altho howling not so good!

CluckyKate · 24/01/2011 20:41

Am liking the HV for BB Pols. Like you I was told to wake LC for feeds every 3 hours - she was on 9th centile and, in her view, too small. I like my sleep so didn't follow the advice and could see she was healthy, happy and thriving....just dinky. At my next visit I was told to give up breast feeding as the HV thought LC wasn't getting enough. Haven't seen a HV since. LC is still slightly smaller than average but packs in a tonne of food, as Boxer will testify.

Keep doing what you're doing - sounds like your intuition is right & BB is getting what she needs Smile

Backinthebox · 24/01/2011 21:20

Talking of size difference, Clucky - where are the pics for the other place? Of the girlies together?

CluckyKate · 24/01/2011 21:33

Downloading them right now Boxer

Backinthebox · 24/01/2011 22:16

A-ha! Fab!

PS Cluck - the bold young chap from today is OK, nothing broken, just concussion. Sadly lady who went to help him is rather more broken.

CluckyKate · 24/01/2011 22:30

That is good news Box. Sorry to hear the girl isn't so good - injuries are easily fixable I hope. Will give her horse time to fatten/fitten up too

Cosmosis · 25/01/2011 08:27

FGS that's stupid - some babies have to be on 9th centile! as long as they're following the curve what centile they are on matters not at all. I'd agree with your current HV POls, if baby gaining etc then definitely do not wake!

Well we have invested in a snot sucker which resulted in a much better nights sleep as he had a clear nose for the first time since christmas!

rollerbaby · 25/01/2011 16:28

Hello all. Just got back from cuntys house. I feel like the hungry caterpillar having eaten the most... Bread, cheese, pate, cake, more bread... And I have a giant bar of choccy thanks to silver for later.

Pol glad things are better on feeding front and Hv happy. Sometimes it helps just to have a bit of reassurance.

We are doing much better these days thanks to one wake up a night and reinstatement of 10pm feed. Bizarrely I am sleeping less deeply than before, but getting more of it which helps. Still wouldn't mind about three days in the scratcher to catch up but hey ho.

Mr moo off out tonight so will play catchy uppy later...

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 25/01/2011 16:59

Hee hee. My dad also calls it the scratcher moo. Haven't heard it a lot. Makes me laugh anyway.

rollerbaby · 25/01/2011 19:55

It's an irish thing I think!!!

OkieCokie · 25/01/2011 20:38

Cunty did herself proud with a little lunchtime spread. I mean 2 bottles of gin is enough to keep all hungry caterpillars happy Smile

I am most tired today. I think I have a cold. Mr C is cooking a curry for dinner to try and sweat it out. I can't be ill, I have too much on this week. I need my scratcher!

rollerbaby · 25/01/2011 20:46

IT was lovely... fank you Cunty. I look forward to the day I actually manage to bake a cake you are most impressive.

Okie soz you are feeling worse. Curry and bed for you my girl.

I am eating said Galaxy bar and doing not very much.

Little one puked everywhere all over me earlier... happily now fast asleep and I even managed a nice bath.

Mr moo is out and says back at 9 and doing work. I say yeah fucking right!

OkieCokie · 25/01/2011 20:55

9 means 11 moo. 11 means 1 am.

rollerbaby · 25/01/2011 21:04

ha ha. men can't read watches huh.

I have a funny feeling I might be getting a UTI. JOY. I am downing bottles of water like a drain.

rollerbaby · 25/01/2011 21:05

I haven't even had a shag yet. What with this, no sleep and constant bouts of thrush, I'll be lucky to get one this side of summer.
