....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

RTL sorry about your pelvic floors - It's very difficult when the pregnancy is over because it takes so long to claw back all the things that you gave up/went to pot - for me it's the extra weight (2 stones left!), the bruised bits, the tiredness... it all takes so long to get your life and body back and I find that really hard to accept.

My baby is also trumping for England and spending hours wriggling and crying before a big pooing session - ARGH!

Elf1981 · 29/10/2005 20:34

Moomin - Evelyn hardly cries either, just a cry when she's got really hungry and I'm not there in an instant to feed her!

mawbroon · 29/10/2005 22:18

Hello all. Johnny doesn't cry much either, except for when he gets his nappy changed or when he gets a bath. Both activities only take a few minutes fortunately, so it is not too distressing for me!!

I thought things were too good to be true when he spend two days on a 6 hour cycle - feeding for one hour then sleeping for five - then WHAM last night was feeding every two hours, or less through the night!! He has been very good again today and slept for a couple of 4 hour stretches.

We had our first outing to Tesco yesterday. It was absolutely peeing down with rain. DH dropped me and Johnny at the door and then went to park. I was drying the baby seat on the trolley when this lady came to help me. She was so nice to me that I nearly started howling right in the middle of Tesco. Oh dear What I am not enjoying about my post c section is the loss of independence. I have to rely on DH to do loads of things for me. Don't get me wrong - he does them willingly, but I have never been so dependent on someone else before. I am getting stronger every day though, so I'm sure I'll be back to my old self soon.

Best wishes to all

read some pleasing facts tonight about length of sleeps and baby weight : the nearer a baby gets to 10lb the more likely (in theory) they are to sleep for longer periods; anything up to 8 hours. Makes sense when I remember dd1 who was 7lb 7oz at birth and started sleeping through at 7-ish wks when she must have been around 10lbs. Yes i know this is only a theory and its in an ideal world, but i need something to look forward to, no matter how remote a possibility it might be.

sympathies to all others who are post-csection at the mo - I'm still in a lot of pain. It has got better since last week but I'm still a long way off being able to walk for more than a few minutes, unfortunately. It's been such a slow process.

Am going to do an online shop now for a pair of non-maternity but non-zip or button black trews now that i can wear for the next 2 months. Tried my pre-preg jeans on yesterday. Could just about do zip up but couldn;t move/walk/breathe and cried in pain for 15mins after they came off... so I guess they need to go back in the drawer for a while then...

triceratops · 30/10/2005 03:23

Is mine the only baby that howls then? That figures. Ds always shrieked the place down for the first three months too. Earplugs are an advantage.

I have just done the ironing while dd settles in her sling, she seems to like the movement and I will have something to show for another sleepless night.

Taking her to a family party tomorrow so I hope she will sleep through that OK.

Elf1981 · 30/10/2005 09:20

Moomin your theory could be right about 10lbs and sleeping. I was born at 10lbs 3 and slept a full 8 until 8 from birth.

Evelyn tends to sleep from 10:30 til 3:00, then from 3:00 til 6:00 / 7:00. During the day she pratically sleeps non stop!

Lexie100 · 30/10/2005 10:01

Hi all. 5 days after little annabel was born and i'm starting to feel human again. My c section scar is very painful and bruised - when does this go??

She is also a little angel. Slept for 3 hours after every feed last night (and settled instantly) so not feeling too tired again.

Glad everyone is doing well

Redtartanlass · 30/10/2005 12:19

feeling a bit weepy today, my cough is worse and am worried it's going to blow into full asthma attack. wii phone gp tomorrow

baby weighed today, she's lost more bthan 10% of birth weight, bt not worried as i'm sure she'll put it back on soon.

dp back to work tomorrow, absolutely crapping myself.......will i be able to cope, especially as ds2 is a right misery guts at the moment as he's not well either!!

how are you all coping?

Lexie100 · 30/10/2005 15:34

My Dh back to work tomorrow too, also really worried. Hope we have a good night and that will at least help alittle.

RTL - Hope you are feeling better soon.

fastasleep · 30/10/2005 16:04

Hi everyone! Remember me? I'm the woman who used to have time to read threads lol... Great to see you're all doing so well (RTL hope you feel better!) Such beautiful baby names! Can't believe JM only popped the other day after all the past pineapple eating

Still stuck expressing, Sophia never latched on just like her brother... she's a month old on Tuesday! Can't believe it! DS is a terror, he broke the TV and DVD player this afternoon all in the time it took me to have a wee .. so I have no time at all to do anything sigh I have enough milk to feed at least triplets though so if anyone wants any, I think I've filled up the milk bank

I so wish I had longer to read all the messages but I have to attempt to tidy the house whilst DH is home..

Sleeping through?! 7 WEEKS?! DS slept through at 12.... 12 months that is and not a day before! (He is incredibly skinny though lol)

Sophia is the lovliest baby in the world, we haven't had one problem a bottle/nappy change/ cuddle didn't fix in 30 seconds and she's put on a pound in 3 weeks!

Hope you all have a nice week without the husbands, it's not that bad honest!

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 30/10/2005 16:10

YAY! FA!!!!

Welcome back!! Miseed you girlie!

Rebecca is just the BEST baby ever - compared to what Jess was like, anything would be a dream!

Im bottle feeding - and not my own milk either - such a BAD mummy, but i just couldnt do it - tried for 24 hours and was just not getting it right - the MW tried for an hour to help me and even she gave up and walked off saying try again in half an hour!

Nights are still going well... touch wood! 3-4 hours between feeds and then sleeps! She does spend quite a bit of time awake though, which Jess never did so assume its that that has helped the sleeping!

Had Rebecca weighed on friday, she only lost 1/2 an ounce.... thats my girl!

Guthrie test tomorrow - dreading it... how can they be so mean as to stick needles in my baby?!

Feels like ive had Rebecca for AGES.... she's only 5 days old!!!

novadandypowder · 30/10/2005 16:24

J&RM - I'm bottle feeding too, don't feel bad .

My MW did the heal prick test as Nat was feeding, she didn't even flinch when the needle went in, maybe you can try that??

My DH also going back to work on tues, and I'm also dreading it - no more taking it in turns for the night shift, the spare room for him and sleepless nights for me await! However, DH's mum is coming to help out for a week from friday so we can go out for dinner on my birthday (30 on saturday ). Will we be able to talk about anything other than the baby though!!

triceratops · 30/10/2005 22:12

RTL you sound as though you are having a tough time of it at the moment. Are you making sure that you ask for help when you need it? I made my SIL come round and make me a cup of tea this afternoon as I was shattered and needed some TLC after last night (she cleaned the kitchen and did the washing too which was nice of her).

Elf1981 · 30/10/2005 22:22

If my pathetic attempt of a link doesn't work, check out Members Profile called "Baby Elf". Hopefully it will work

Elf1981 · 30/10/2005 22:24

woohoo it worked!!
Evelyn currently asleep on our bed next to DH (he's on hol for two weeks now) with nothing on except a nappy and I'm staring intently at her as she's got a few spots / blotts on her tummy and face and I'm trying to assess if heat spots or not... stress!

SusiS · 31/10/2005 07:34

aww ELF how cute is your little girl!!! and so nicely asleep

TRICE what a nice sil you've got! hope you got to relax

NOVAD maybe you need to write a list of topics what you could talk about

JARM don't feel bad for bottlefeeding!! whatever suits you. in the end they all grow up; however they have been fed! - in some way i you: would give me a break from the 2hourly cow-feeling

expressed some milk yesterday; mainly to see if actually something's coming out! managed 1oz - but then again try it with a toddler around!!! - dp was well happy to feed caitlin in the evening and oh boy can that girl drink -so that can't be the problem!!
hv is coming today to weigh her again - so fingers crossed she's put some on after the feeding marathon of last week!!!

FASTASLEEP good to hear from you -
ohh send some milk over! i know i've got enough; just can't express it - what pump have you got???

Lexie100 · 31/10/2005 09:19

My nipples are so sore

YOKEFLEET · 31/10/2005 09:30

Congratulations to everyone! I had Thomas James on the 3rd of October and haven't really found time to get onto the pc since!! I will try to catch up when TJ goes to sleep!!
Has anyone had their baby on their due date?? I went into labour on my due date but had TJ the next day.
I hope you are all well and I hope to catch up soon.

BigBumpBonnie · 31/10/2005 09:49

ooooooooh i'm soooooooooooooo TIRED Ruby is not getting the night thing at all and wakes every 2 - 3 hours for a feed and then takes about an hour to settle after each one (wind) so i'm getting an average of an hours unbroken sleep at a time. She's fine during the day and sleeps like a dream even in her moses basket. She gets a little unsettled in the evening but really gets going at night. She is over 9lbs now so if it's true they sleep longer at 10lbs hopefully I won't have too much longer to wait. She does 5oz at each feed at night so I'm wondering whether to change her milk to a hungry baby one (I'm a bad bottlefeeding mummy as well ) Anyone any idea if this would help? Tried infacol and she really heaves on it so that's no good. I was in tears last night due to lack of sleep so dh did a lot of it and he had to get up for work this morning. Everything would be going great if I could just get a few uninterrupted hours of sleep! (sorry for the major moan, feel a bit better now)

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 31/10/2005 09:54

well after my few good nights last night was awful! rebecca was so full of wind she wouldnt settle properly so going to try infacol, but it was the little teething toddler hell last night..... jess was up every hour and the up for the day at 5.30am! little madam!

early night tonight i think x

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 31/10/2005 09:55

bbb - how old is ruby now? im struggling to get 3oz in rebecca at any one time....

BigBumpBonnie · 31/10/2005 09:57

Ruby will be 3 weeks on wednesday. She went from 2 -3 ozs straight up to 5oz within about a week. She has put on a lb since birth so obviously is just a hungry baby that's why I'm thinking of maybe getting the stronger milk, but I'm not sure. She is drinking quite a lot for her age so I'm sure Rebecca's intake is normal

triceratops · 31/10/2005 12:03

Yokefeet - Hester is the only one of us clever enough to deliver when the baby was due as fae as I know.

I have magnificent breasts. dh is in awe. It is a shame that he will not be allowed near them for a year . We had a good night last night. feeding every two hours but sleeping in between.

SusiS · 31/10/2005 12:15

lol trice, same here. but dp is way too scared to go anywhere near them - he's got this picture in his head of getting soaked

ouch rajm, early morning too, eh?! hope the teeth come through soon!!!!

yep, nobody told my toddler to reset his bodyclock - we were up at 4.50!!!

but little madam is asleep for over 3 hours now, will have to wake her soon though to get some milk into her.

morningpaper · 31/10/2005 12:51

lol at Trice's magnificent breasts!

Poor baby has an infected cyst on her arm - has started antiobiotics today. Feel a bit crap about it - all that effort that goes into breastfeeding and then I have to fill her up with antibiotics anyway. Poor little mite looked AWFUL when I fed them to her, feel like I'm poisoning her.

3.5 hours sleep last night. Mother is here today but complaining about having a cold so can't really ask her to whisk toddler off for the afternoon so I can sleep - damn!
