....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

I've still got Johnny in sleepsuits both day and night as I am super lazy. He has a choice of outfits for in the car both of which just go over the sleepsuit- either a "baby nomade" which is a fab little blanket with legs and velcro which you can fasten the carseat straps over or a snow suit. He goes in the nomade if we are going on a long journey where he can just be lifted straight into a house at the other end. The arrangement of the nomade means that once the car warms up, you can open the top of the blanket without having to unstrap him. I put him in his snow suit (just over his sleepsuit) if we are going a short hop somewhere and then using the sling. It means that he doesn't get too warm in the car. I don't use the pram at all out of the house any more since I recovered enough from my CS. I love the sling for convenience and my "handbag" is now a bum bag so that I have both hands free. When Johnny is a older, I will get a backpack for him. Here's hoping that I am strong enough to carry him for a while to come yet!!!

baby nomade

Redtartanlass · 14/01/2006 20:52

Mawbroon, I wish my baby would sit on her own for an hour she is a complete cuddle monster and will not be put down!!! She's been like that since birth. We can get about 20 mins in her bouncy chair if she is watching big brother. Obvioulsy her BB not Davina's BB. Hope you've finished with your pooey nappies. That baby nomade looks great!

mummygow - will go and have a look at your piccies now. Are you still a bit weepy? Thought it was just me. Same as jockey moods are all over the place. Bound to get worse as stopped breastfeeding nearly completely, so I'm gonna get a period from hell, aren't I?

bbb know what you mean about going in the car with 2. It's such a hassle. I hate those bloody car seat things, takes me about an hour just to strap everyone in

Morning all.

Is anyone else who is bf just STARVING all the time? I had to get out of bed to have something to eat last night. Then my tummy was rumbling when I was feeding DH at 5am (but I was too lazy to go downstairs to get some nosh). Then when I got up at 7am I was ravenous. I had a huge plate of cereal with a banana in it and now I'm starving again. I am hungrier now than I was when I was pregnant. Hopefully that's not the reason for my hunger.....

I am leaving DH with two bottles of EBM this afternoon and going to the shops. I have some gift vouchers to spend that I got for christmas. This is the first time that DH will have been left all alone with DS for more than an hour or so but I'm sure it will be fine.

I think that DS has a "Mummy's on MN" radar. Anytime I start typing a post, he wakes up!

Elf1981 · 15/01/2006 09:52

MB - I am with you on the starving front. I have never been so hungry! But I've got no bread, milk or cereal so I'm having to wait for my Tesco order to arrive before I can eat anything decent!! Just fed Evie so I'm leaving her to DH's devises for an hour while I have a nice soak in the tub and finish reading the book I started reading and was up til 1:30 trying to finish!

Redtartanlass · 15/01/2006 10:59

elf Maw with you on the hungry thing!!! Only put 2 lb on during pregnancy but have put on a stone since babies birth!!!

Yesterday was the first day I did not breastfeed at all and I feel strangely sad about it. Really strange considering how much I disliked breastfeeding. I never got those 'happy' hormones you're supposed to get from breastfeeding, and found it a chore. So I'm quite proud I lasted 12 weeks!!

mummygow · 15/01/2006 13:11

Hi eveyone left cameron and dad together for first time yesterday too - I went clothes shopping (got jeans ant top from oasis and a bag from next)then I went clubbing last night - it was fab. Chico was playing at the club that I went to last night he was funny!!

Was really scared about going out as I had not been out in town or drank for over a year but Husband was great (for once) phoned me at dream feed time to let me know that ds was fine and that I was not to worry about him and then he fed him in middle of night (he's never done this) then got up this morning - I am just up

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 15/01/2006 13:19

Well done all you who are leaving husbands to get to grips with parenthood - i was lucky and DH took Rebecca to scotland for 4 days after christmas so i got a break!

He's fantastic with the girls and i never worry... but then I have bottle fed from day 1 so its been easier for me against you FANTASTIC BF mummies!

Rebecca still mostly sleeping through, just wish Jessica would!

mummygow · 15/01/2006 14:01

redtartanlass 2lbs in whole pregnancy - wow!!
no i'm not very weepy anymore - have been terrific for a few weeks.

know what you all mean about jackets!!

jrm hope jessica starts sleeping soon to give you an extra wee rest!!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 15/01/2006 15:06

i hope she does too, but with the rotten cold/chesty thing she has caught from rebecca sleep training just isnt high on my list of priorities right now.... Roll on summer when they are all healthy and smiley again!

mummygow · 15/01/2006 15:14

here here

mawbroon · 15/01/2006 15:39

I'm just back from my shopping trip. Well, this having time away from the baby isn't all it's cracked up to be....

I tried on various clothes which sadly looked awful on my peculiar new shape so I ended up not buying anything. I ended up in Mothercare, in Boots looking at baby things, in Woolworths, just for a look, but ended up looking at baby things. Every baby that passed made me miss Johnny. And I kept getting let down in my boobs. Then I had this outrageous thought that DH would forget to bring Johnny with him when he came to pick me up. Luckily he remembered him!!

Crikey - I was only away from him for less than three hours. What a soppy Mummy I am

trice · 15/01/2006 16:39

I went out last night for the first time to a concert. Hannah was still fast asleep when I got back and did not miss me at all. I love breastfeeding so I wouldn't even consider stopping, even if I do end up with breast pad failure and a wet t-shirt.

I managed to cut Hannahs thumb with the nail clippers last night which made her scream and me feel like a bad mummy.

Elf1981 · 15/01/2006 18:54

I've always bit Evie's fingernails, she curls her hand up when I get the scissors out!
I'm fed up with my car, I had a flat yesterday on the way back from my mums so had to turn around and borrow one of the spare cars to get home (too late and dark to change the tyre). So we've been back to sort my car out today. Eurgh! Could do without that when running around to sort out Evie's christening.

mummygow · 15/01/2006 20:54

mb lol - When I went to buy my new clothes yesterday I was depressed at my body not even just being overweight the shape and everything. I also went to boots to buy the avent magic handles to put on Camerons bottles to start encouraging him to put his hands on them done this with dd too - they were great also bought a 3 month trainer cup another few weeks to we can start popping that in his mouth - my goodness it brings the memories of all this flooding back with Jess

morningpaper · 15/01/2006 20:56

mawbroon what WERE you doing feeding your DH at 5am ?!

Took baby swimming for the first time today - it went well and we all went to Pizza Hut for tea afterwards.

I am a total heffa though I nearly died looking at myself in teh mirror in a bikini. Look at LEAST 10 years older than I am. Moose Moose Moose. Have 1.5 stone to loose and it does't seem to be shifting. Very miserable about it.

mawbroon · 16/01/2006 07:21

MP - I was wondering what your problem was with me feeding my DS at 5am and it took me a full 5 minutes to realise my mistake! DOH I called DH by DS's name yesterday - OMG I'm turning into my mother. She used to have to run through all the names before she got the right one. At least she had an excuse having 5 kids names to muddle up - I've only got the one so far!!

Elf - no luck with the car. I hope that's the end of your motoring mayhem.

Johnny slept for a whole 8 hours last night. I was so tired that I was in bed 5 minutes after him at 8.35pm, so I almost got 8 hours too! HIp hip HOORAY!

I've just realised that this is Monday morning. I'm so glad to not be getting that Monday feeling any more!

mummygow · 16/01/2006 07:22

woohoooooooo Cameron slept right through to 7.06am wooohooooooooooooooo

Redtartanlass · 16/01/2006 07:43

mummygow - , baby went through the night a couple of times, but she's on feeding frenzy at the moment!!! Maybe she'll be out of her newborn clothes soon Where are you from MG?

Take baby swimming every week, she goes to water babies, so goes underwater! ds2 has been doing it since he was teeny as well and he is sooooooo confident in the water!

mummygow · 16/01/2006 08:13

I'm from Glasgow what about you redtartanlass

Redtartanlass · 16/01/2006 08:26

i'm a fifer!! Now in glos.

BigBumpBonnie · 16/01/2006 09:09

Here's another little treat for some of us... hair loss! It happened after dd1 was three months old, loads of my hair started falling out (think it's the extra I got when pregnant). I was really alarmed at first but doc said it was normal about three months after birth and lo and behold, it's started again. I've got quite thick hair luckily so it doesn't notice but last time it started to grow back a bit funny and I had a little short fringe grow. Oh the joy!

I had a bad evening with Ruby yesterday, she was very unsettled and cried for ages which is really unlike her. I really do think she's teething so tried some gel but that didn't really help. She was so exhausted when she went to bed that she slept ok which was a blessing. She's happy enough today so I'm hoping it was a one off.

mg at your night out. how nice of your dh to ring and let you know everything was ok.

I know what you all mean about body shape. I've gone back to my previous weight but my tummy is very wobbly still and has a lovely crepey look to it. We are going to visit my sister who lives in the Bahamas next January so I've got just under a year to get sorted

trice · 16/01/2006 09:59

Has anyone planned their holidays this year?

We have just booked flights to the algarve where we had the worst holiday ever when ds was 9 months old and Hannah will be the same age (what was I thinking!?). Ds was the amazing non sleeping baby though and Hannah is an angel so I am hoping that I will get to enjoy myself at least a little bit.

I will have to loose that extra two stone though first. I am so out of shape, I don't even fit in my swimming costume at the moment.

mummygow · 16/01/2006 10:49

trice and bbb at holidays to llok forward to. I took jess to florida when she was 8 months but my mum and dad where staying there at the time, thats why I went for some help!

dont talk about weight I've got 3 stone to loose - need a big dose of will power

Redtartanlass · 16/01/2006 12:35

Bigbumpbonnie - can I be your sister please and come with you...
