....thought i'd better start a thread as there are currently 4 of us, with several more to follow!

Joey is now 4 days old (where did the time go?!?), and is doing really well. He actually managed to sleep through with just one feed last night, though i must confess i cheated and had him in bed with me (at my MW's recommendation!) as he was so fretful the night before.

Looking forward in the coming days and weeks to welcoming the other members of the Oct 05 antenatal group to this post-natal club, so i won't feel like Billy No-Mates, talking to myself

Come on the girls - what are your babies weighing at 10 weeks old?

Please put birth weight too - im a bit concerned about Becky's even though she is still on the 50th line.

Birth : 7lbs 4oz
10 Wks : 11lbs 8oz

novadandypowder · 06/01/2006 23:02

sorry dipping in from nov thread, but actually had my DD in oct.

birth weight: 6lb 13oz

at 12 weeks: 14lb 2oz

if it's any consolation, she's actually gaining too much weight - proof that you can never win with HV's!

Elf1981 · 07/01/2006 08:44

Evie's full weights:

Birth 8lbs 13.5
7 days 8lbs 8
12 days 8lbs 9
3 weeks 9lbs 3
4 weeks 9lbs 8
8 weeks 10lbs 12
12 weeks 12lbs 2

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 07/01/2006 09:58

So Becky is doing well then!

Its just she was 10lbs 4oz at 6 weeks and then only 11lbs 8oz at 10 weeks - thought that wasnt quite enough?!

BigBumpBonnie · 07/01/2006 10:27

I'm getting Ruby weighed next week so will post her weight then but she is a large baby! She was the same weight as dd1 at birth 7lb13 but is much bigger at 3 months than dd1 was. dd1 stayed on her line all the way whereas Ruby has jumped up to the next one. She was last weighed at 2 months so I'll be interested to see what she is now. The HV will probably tell me she's put on too much, but what can you do? she is still waking for a bottle in the night (sometimes twice) I've cut down the amount I give her and only make up a small one for the middle of the night so hopefully she'll cut it out completely soon. She goes to bed at 7.30pm with 6ozs. She wakes up at about 12 and has another 6-7ozs and then sleeps usually until about 4am when i'm giving her 4ozs. She wakes up for good at about 7.30am. That's quite a lot compared to others on here but I don't know how to cut it down if she wants it. She drinks a lot throughout the day as well!

Anyway she is still gorgeous and so much easier to look after than dd1 but I think because of dd1 she just has to fit in and that's made her a more contented baby. She usually can sit for ages in her bouncy chair happy and awake. My dh had her laughing a few days ago. not just smiling, she was actually giggling and it was the sweetest sound I've ever heard

Her excema is still really bad and I have to constantly apply her creams or it flares up. I really hope its something she grows out of, but otherwise she's healthy at the moment so I'm grateful for that. I hope everyone's babies who haven't been well are still improving. I can't wait for the summer when it's nice and warm and we can take them for long walks to the park

nervousmum · 07/01/2006 11:28

They don't routinely weigh down here, but we've been keeping an eye on Joey ourselves (only because i'm ultra-paranoid that i'm not feeding Joey enough as you can't actually see whats going in with breast milk!)

Birth weight: 7Ib 15oz
4 weeks: 10Ib 4oz
13 weeks: 15Ib 6oz (nearly double his birth weight!)

OP posts:
nervousmum · 07/01/2006 11:30

that puts him just above the 75th centile, but my HV told me to ignore them as they are based on bottle fed babies, not breast fed.

Elf1981 cant believe your wee one goes from 8.30 - 7.30 that is FANTASTIC - I feel like having a party for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JRM hope Rebecca is getting better

BBB thats not really alot my ds has 6oz at 6-7pm then he has 6oz at 10 - 11n then wakes about 4/5 and has a bottle (4oz water, 2oz Formula - to try and wean him off this) then 7am for his next 6oz

NM I wouldnt wake a baby after 11pm because thats the whole idea to get them off the middle of the night and if they are not waking for it then they arent hungary - stupid hv's, half of them dont even have kids

Camerons doing good although a bit sleepy the last couple of days as he sounds quite stuffed up again but I am not panicking because when he is awake he is happy and taking his bottles

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 07/01/2006 19:44

Becky sleeps 6.30pm - 7.30am and has done for 2 weeks now

She doesnt sleep much during the day (although because she is ill she is sleeping a lot more) but i can handle that for getting a good sleep at night!

Becky takes 5oz bottles during the day and a 6oz first thing.... probably got getting enough milk, but doesnt ask for more, so she isnt getting it!

mummygow · 07/01/2006 19:48

thats fab jrm how did you get her to stop her middle of the night feed and then the 10/11 feed - I thought the late bottle didt stop until they started solids - but the 4/5 feed Jessica stopped at 9 weeks so with Cameron I'm puting it down to being not well. How much sleep during the day does Rebecca have

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 07/01/2006 19:53

Becky never had an 11pm feed unless she hadnt fed before bed, and then we dream fed her. She used to wake at 3am religiously but, she just stopped.... it then was about 5.30am but we have found if we jsut give her the dummy she goes back over - and she obviously got fed up of that and thats her til 7.30 now.... im lucky i guess - Jess was still up twice a night until she was a year!

Becky will sleep for about 20 minutes 3 or 4 times a day - longer if i go out in the car/buggy... she isnt one for daytime sleep at all!

mummygow · 07/01/2006 20:58

camerons waking at about 4.50am just now and I am trying diluting the formula (4oz water 2oz formula) hoping to reduce it gradually until it is just water and he gets fed up - he doesnt have a dummy so I cant use that technique

HeyBaby · 08/01/2006 16:39

Dear All. My bub was born at end of Sept 05 so almost an October 05 baby! Hope you don't mind me joining but this thread was interesting for me as my DS has been a bit all over the place. He used to be a routine 4 hourly feed but recently has been going through a growth spurt (or so the HV says) as he was feeding almost two hourly (and acted like he was starving each time). I had been looking forward to the days of him sleeping through the night like some of you lucky mums but alas no such luck!

DS has a 630-7pm feed then usually a 10-1030pm feed (he has never yet skipped this one). Sometimes he still wakes at 3am looking for food but if I'm lucky sleeps through til 5-6am. I have tried to give him water or diluted formula during the early morning feeds but he seems to know that he is being cheated! The Gina Ford book suggests a teaspoon of sugar in 120ml cooled boiled water will do the trick but I'm a bit nervous about introducing sugar into the diet at this early stage. Any hints/tips on getting baby to sleep through the early morning feeds?

Elf1981 · 09/01/2006 07:30

mummygow - I feel like having a party re Evie's sleep patterns. She's just woken up and had a feed, now she's playing 'superwoman' on the bed, waving her arms and legs around like a banshee. Going to get back into bed with her in a min for a cuddle and play.

BigBumpBonnie · 09/01/2006 12:15

had the night from hell Ruby woke every hour and a half! She wouldn't go back to sleep without a bottle but only took a couple of ounces each time. It's really weird as sometimes she's great and only wakes once and other times we have nights like last night. I'm sooooo tired! Anyone got any tips on how to help with the nightmare night feeds?
On a more positive note she found her hands for the first time the other day and now spends most of her awake time staring at her fist in wonder. It's so sweet to watch.

Redtartanlass · 09/01/2006 13:41

Hi Heybaby, sorry no tips for you but maybe one of the others will.

Baby still a wee angle, ds2 getting naughtier every day, think his backteeth are coming in.

Starting to stop breast feeding, dropping a feed a day, not too bad so far. How many of us are still breast feeding?

vicmum · 09/01/2006 15:37

Hi redtartan lass, my DS was born 26 oct (almost 11wks old now) and I am still bfeeding him. I am hoping to do so until he is at least three months old, but am not sure how or when to phase it out. Until now he has not had anything except for breast milk - although he happily takes it from a bottle - are you introducing formula to replace the feed?
I'm interested to hear what people are planning to do...

YOKEFLEET · 09/01/2006 16:00

heybaby I don't know which formula you are using but my hv recommended changing from the premium to the plus milk for hungrier babies. Don't know if that helps, ds went from feeding 2hourly to between 3 and 4 hours, he now sleeps from around 11pm until 5 or 6.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 09/01/2006 16:03

Rebecca is SO much better now thank god! I was so worried about her over the weekend, but she has been back to being awake nearly all day and we are getting a bit more milk wise into her - she only took 16oz total yesterday - we have managed 17 so far today, so hoping she will take one more bottle before bedtime?!

Still lucky that she is sleeping 6.30pm - 7am ish.... just wish Jessica would STOP coming into our room at 5am!!!

Elf1981 · 09/01/2006 16:08

I'm still breastfeeding. Evie is 13 weeks old. I've just brought a mini electric pump so I can do some serious pumping for when I go back to work in 11 weeks time (getting more and more depressed by the minute!).

Jockey · 09/01/2006 16:19

Hi, another breastfeeder here. I've been doing some pumping but baby's not keen on taking it from the bottle. I bet she will if I leave her for long enough though! Plan to continue for as long as I can.

Elf, I'm getting a bit down about work - I took my mat leave early so it will be running out soon... might have to switch to unpaid & try and manage...mmmm... will have to try and talk dh round

Glad Becky is getting better J&RM - that must've been quite traumatic seeing her so poorly.

HeyBaby · 09/01/2006 17:34

Thanks Yokefleet. Was going to try that in a couple of weeks if DS is still waking up. I am still breastfeeding but give formula by bottle when we are out and also for the last night feed (in the hopes that he will sleep through for longer!).

HeyBaby · 09/01/2006 17:36

Elf - are you going back FT or PT? I am hoping to go back PT (have to speak with my manager) mid-year. Will be living on "beans and toast" by that stage but I guess that's the compromise ... I totally understand how you feel. Have you booked your bub into a nursery yet?

Redtartanlass · 09/01/2006 18:28

Vicmum ? baby was born 21 October so 3 months old on Fri. We?ve used formula for occasional feeds, for a couple of weeks as I?m useless at expressing, takes hours just to get a couple of ounces. She?s always been brilliant at taking bottle or breast, the only difference I?m noticing from introducing more formula, is her poo is not so runny!!! All I?m doing is replacing an extra feed every day for formula. Dependent on how sore my boobs are.
J&Bmum ? glad your wee one is better, it?s horrid when they?re ill.
Yorkefleet ? how was your hol in Yorkshire?

I can?t believe that I was back at work when ds2 was this age; in fact he was only 10 weeks!! This time I?m going back when the baby is nearly 6months!!! Well if I?ve got a job to go back to, because of the redundancies!! Already been for an interview?horrendous, mind was mush, suits didn?t fit!! Could hardly articulate a sentence!!! Surprisingly never got the job!!! Mind you, glad really!!

Elf1981 · 09/01/2006 22:11

Re feeding: Evie struggles with a bottle, I stopped giving EMB as HV kept telling me off, when tried to introduce it again, DD was having none of it! Got to get her on bottles of EMB during the day so I know how much she needs and so she'll feed when I'm not with her in the day.
Re work: going back full time. Absolutely not looking forward to it. A friend of mine is in the same boat (we work in the same office). She is going back to work in Feb when her baby is about 5 1/2 months old. Evie will be 5 1/2 months too. I have been looking on the internet for nurseries, got two very close to work so am hoping to use them so I'm not far from her. When talking to my friend about how sad we feel about going back to work, she said "scary how you'd wrestle a bear if our babies were in trouble but we're willing to hand them to perfect strangers every day" I DONT want to go back to work. Got a meeting on the 16th with my new boss. Have the feeling she's going to try to put me on different jobs rather than what I was doing, and I'm going to set her straight, I'm only going back FT if I go back on the same work as what I left!! I have some leeway to do it, they're kind of piling on the pressure for me to go back ASAP and keep saying things like "oh, work will be better when you get back"
