mlic Grin at armpits!!hope you have a good night!
tsc hope you get it all sorted when he gets back! is he close to his mother? men who are close to their mums tend to think they can get away with a lot more than others!

we ended up having a huge discussion about our relationship, the fact that he falls asleep every night as soon as L is in bed so im sat here like a lemon on my own, i said im not spending the rest of my life like this with no hugs and kisses and adult communication! he said we get on great and we have a laugh, so i think he thinks im like a friend! sounds trivial but if i dont get this sorted it will be 2 years down the line with nothing changed! i moved further from my family and friends and feel so bloody lonely most of the time, quite sad that i want a dog to keep me company most peole have friends but i cant face the real world still!

WhatSheSaid · 15/01/2011 18:53

HOpe you had good nights out kk and mlic.

Tsc I agree with cake's post re your dp. How are things today?

kkfairybrains · 15/01/2011 19:07

Aw memphis i can definately see where you're coming from. And even when you do start to face the real world its not that easy just to make friends. i find for me anyway it takes time but then i'm gone quite nervous around people for some reason. Just don't know what to say a lot of the time! sounds silly but it's not. And if you don't say it to him now like you say it's very easy to get stuck in a rut. Hopefully the time together at centerparks will do you good.

WinterChillita · 15/01/2011 19:24

Hello everyone!
DH has finally unrolled himself from the duvet upstairs and has shaken off (more or less) the flu so I'm back on mn. Not that I couldn't mn with him ill but I had other things to do :)

mlic and kk have a lovely night out. kk sounds such a good idea going out with the estate ladies!

memphis dh and I spend quite a bit of time in the same room but not together iyswim (he's currently playing BBC2 and I'm...erm...) and sometimes we crawl into bed and tell each other how much we missed each other. Stupid really, we compensate by getting into bed earlier and chatting for hours!

tsc what was with that ily person?! Proper jumped to conclusions! I hope you get things sorted out and I really hope F gets better very quickly and takes the pressure off you.

I just had pizza Blush I shouldn't have, I ummed and ahhed about it for months and usually I manage to say no but today I just couldn't and dh for once didn't tell me not to. Ack! I just know S is going to suffer and I'll feel awful for having given in... I'm hoping he'll grow out of the cheese thing one day but I don't think he has yet.

Anyone have any ideas about weaning and reflux? S seems to enjoy eating but has started throwing up again even though I haven't had dairy (until tonight)

DesperateHousewife20 · 15/01/2011 19:47

Dylan is drinking formula from a bottle

CakeandRoses · 15/01/2011 19:49

Evening all

Hope things have improved there tsc. Sometimes a proper row clears the air - hope yours did.

We've just had the v rare offer of a night of babysitting from mil. So if the babies both go down ok, we'll be going out for a meal just the two of us soon.

Hope everyone else has a good evening.

mlic keep your arms clamped to your sides :-) you're bound to have a fab night, always happens that way when you're all unprepared and ungroomed!

WhatSheSaid · 15/01/2011 19:53

Chillita the only stuff i've read about weanign reflux babies just emphasises giving them really bland stuff to start with so as not to upset their stomach. I read apple can be quite acidic so pear is better.

G seems to have pretty much outgrown her reflux now but I was very cautious and gave her really bland stuff to start weaning (well, I suppose everyone starts with the bland stuff, no one goes straight onto vindaloos!)

Anything you think might cause upset maybe just give a couple of spoonfuls to see what happens?

I have just given G cow's milk for the first time this morning (on Weetabix) and so far no bad effects but I didn't give her much.

memphis83 · 15/01/2011 20:18

chilita L's reflux has stopped since hes been on solids, with things like his fruit i mix baby rice to thicken it and it apparently makes it creamy so its not so harsh on the tummy, whit potato and dairy are culprits too, dairy has buggered L up in the form of a yoghurt wasnt being sick just screamed in pain!
kk i hope centerparcs sorts us out too, problem with him is he isnt very good with showing his feelings, tells me everyday he loves me etc but cant show it, hope our talk sorts us out but he is asleep next to me now grrr!

DesperateHousewife20 · 15/01/2011 20:24

Dylan is in his cot with a dummy- ASLEEP!

I spoke too soon, hes now crying and everytime I put him down he opens his eyes, Ive left him. DP is trying to get him to sleep but he doesnt know what hes doing.

Woodlands · 15/01/2011 22:30

oh i hate it when you speak too soon about the baby sleeping! i spend half my evenings perched on the edge of the sofa rather than relaxing.

we've only been weaning for 2.5 weeks but it seems like much longer.J has already had curry and stuff. Today we were out for lunch in Zizzi's and J ate LOADS - avocado, chicken, tomato sauce from a baked aubergine dish etc. I'm vaguely trying to only introduce one new thing at a time so today it was tomato. He seemed OK with it but it ended up in his eyelashes and eyebrows so looked a bit horrendous!

CakeandRoses · 15/01/2011 23:36

tsc those other women don't know you, dp or much about you other than what's just happened. They're taking a very wankerish action and examining out of the context of the rest of your relationship.

Nearly everyone could tell a tale of something their dp did or does which would make mumsnetters say 'he doesn't love you, leave him'.

If you usually do feel he loves you then I'm sure he does.

I think mumsnet advice is great for extremely damaged relationships/people but so always so good for the normal ones.

dh congrats on the formula but sorry the dummy didn't work longer!

BUM! I gave him 4oz of formula in the end but by 10pm he wouldnt settle with either of us and using the dummy so I gave in and fed him to sleep with the boob :(

HOW do you settle your babies once they've fed??

My friend had her baby in the small hours last night on her living room floor!! We're going to see them today, she had a beautiful baby boy weighing 5lbs! I literally cannot wait to hold him.

My plan was to do dinner, bath, pjs, milk in living room with us then into bedroom, put into sleeping bag and go to bed.

Its just that last bit thats not working!

Woodlands · 16/01/2011 14:42

dh feeding to sleep has kind of stopped working here, which is very annoying! sometimes I get DH to rock him or walk him up and down. He has actually self-settled the last few nights. I'm a firm believer that they'll do it when they're ready.

kkfairybrains · 16/01/2011 15:18

dh i used to be able to just put ellie down awake with her dummy and put on her mobile and she'd go off by herself but now it doesn't happen like that! we do bath, massage, pj's maybe a little bit of a bottle if she's looking for it and then she takes her dummy and falls asleep in our arms. she's falling asleep pretty easy in our arms now so the next step is trying to get her to go off by herself in the cot but how i'm going to do that i don't know as i just can't leave her crying as she works herself up into such a tissy.
is frankie still taking his inhaler tsc or does he need it?
mlic glad you enjoyed yourself! the problem with me is once i'm out it's hard to get me home! we had a good night too. was nice getting to know people that i wouldn't usually ever see. there was 8 of us and it was good fun! not really suffering today as i didn't have an awful lot to drink and then the meal would have provided good soakage! we went for a long brisk walk this morning and just had dinner so i'm ready to relax for the day. providing ellie lets me!

CakeandRoses · 16/01/2011 15:45

Hey all,

Just driving home having stopped at meadowhall shopping centre in sheffield en route so we could have lunch, dh buy a new suit and F get a new toy bus!

Just been round to see the newborn son of one of dh's old friends. He was so tiny altho actually was a big baby. A looked like a toddler in comparison!

dh with A she will settle without a feed but I always swaddle her arms, give her her dummy and if it's very light or if she'sa bit worked up, I'll also put a muslin over her eyes. I then play some music as I turn off the light. Routine beforehand is change, PJs and books (we'll be reading to F next to her), feed then sleeping bag, burp and bed.

mlic feeling any less rough yet?

CakeandRoses · 16/01/2011 15:59

Oh and blooming MIL has totally misunderstood the reporting of the new weaning age study and twice during the weekend said bf til (never mind after) 6m is harmful (ie nothing to do with solids, just the bf in itself) - gah! Doubly annoying cos both my sil and me have recently/are ebf til 6m.

I tried to explain that wasn't actually what the study said and that it was only one study anyway and might be incorrect but I could see it wasn't going in. Put it this way, dh didn't get his brains from that side!

Made me realise how damaging these reports can be. Was thankful A isn't a newborn when this study came out.

Its good for you to let the hair down once in a while! remember the old mlic and not mammy mlic. It definately does me good anyway and makes me a lot more tolerant of things when i get to be just me again for a few hours once in a while.
