Thank you! I've already had to go to the hospital and get insulin as I'm a type II diabetic and my blood sugars are high already, although it has been Christmas. I really am in shock I think!

Imogen a think was a little bit overwhelmed - she didn't eat much on Christmas day at meals and was a bit clingy at meals. Other than that she quite enjoyed it and like the others really enjoys playing with all her toys - and there do seem to be a lot. She got the idea kitchen and loves it. She cooked me banana, bacon and some pancake with blueberry sauce on it for tea, upsy daisy got a bottle of olive Orlando she had a tin of dog food and a tin of fruit salad. All cooked on the hob in the saucepan, then carefully carried over on a plate!!

We went out today to Wisley with two NCT friends same age and they are starting to really play together and walk along losing hands etc... It is so cute!

Does anyone have any new year plans?

BlatherskitesInFairyLights · 30/12/2011 22:02

Oooh, how exciting. Congratulations Hercule

MistletoePoirot · 31/12/2011 15:07

Thank you have now moved from excited and wanting to tell the world to irrational thinking it will all go wrong!!!

Happy New Year!

Thanks Lee I am feeling a bit calmer now. I am already using insulin again as the hormones affect my blood sugars massively even at this early stage. Did another test yesterday just to be sure!!

Anyone got any nice plans for the weekend? Back to work for me on Tuesday.

BlatherskitesInFairyLights · 01/01/2012 15:25

Happy New Year everyone.

We took the sides off Catherine's cot bed today. She was so excited and sat playing on her bed for ages once it was all done. We took her for a long walk before her nap and she went straight off so it's going well so far - tonight may be a different story though! With the downstairs stair gate gone and the nappy bin binned, it's all feeling very final though. No more babies in the Blathers house. On to a new chapter I guess.

Lots of tidying and sorting here this weekend. We need a new shelf for the lounge that I might try to talk DH into doing this weekend. Catherine could do with some shelves for the huge amount of books she got for her birthday and christmas too. Just me and the children on Tuesday as DH is back at work and we might have a trip over to the play gym then it's back to School on Wednesday.

I'm going to join Weight watchers again and start doing some more exercise, maybe even running again. Got a last stone to lose and I want it gone ASAP. I want to be more organised with keeping the house tidy too. I want friends popping round to be a nice surprise not a reason to panic :)

Anyone got any other resolutions? Will this be the year we finally do a December 09 meet up maybe?

Had a great Christmas though and Anna had a really fab time.

X

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/01/2012 09:06

Ethelred - congratulations!! I'm couldn't sleep as I am so excited and nervous in equal measures.

Re the cot - lots of my friends with children said they felt it was better to do it earlier. Those that did it later said they felt it was too late and disrupted the child's sleep more. I wasn't sure but Imogen could get her leg up and I wanted to do it before she fell out. For us it has been brilliant, we put the stair gate on her room and she just gets up and plays in her room. She used to call us when she woke up as she wanted to get out of her cot. She doesn't wake up until about 745 and usually plays until at least 830 without wanting us - even if we ask her!! She was also needed the next size grobag and so we though duvet and pillow and bed all in one go!

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/01/2012 09:07

Ooh at this rate we'll need a new thread soon!!

BlatherskitesInFairyLights · 02/01/2012 09:54

Wow! 2 new babies. Does that mean you guys will be due at the same time again too?

The choice to make the cot bed into a bed was mostly about space to be honest. C has the box room which is tiny and ever since she moved in there we've had a chair next to the cot for feeding at the beginning and more recently, somewhere to read the bedtime story. But with all the new toys in December, we really needed some more room. By taking the side off, we can now sit next to/on the edge of the bed with her to read her story and take the chair out of her room which leaves us a bit more space to put in some of her bigger toys. Her room also feels a lot bigger now. We're also hoping that like Imogen, we might go from her waking and then standing in her cot calling for us, to getting herself up and having a play in her room which might lead to a bit more sleep for us. She's usually up around 7 but an extra half an hour on the weekends would be very welcome none the less :)

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/01/2012 10:07

Yes I think Ethelred is due 8thand I'm due 7th I think!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 02/01/2012 17:06

Yes 8th apparently, all being well. Just on the subject of cots, Anna is still in hers, and we were sort if hoping to keep her in there a bit longer, but if all goes well and this pregnancy progresses, then we'll have to turf her out so the new baby has somewhere to sleep! We are having lots of decorating done this spring, so will have to start planning out a new room for Anna. We had already started looking for bedding etc for her, so this just gives it a little more of a deadline (fingers crossed!)
Had a riotous day today, taking decs down and spring cleaning. Have definitely got that back to school feeling... Sad
Am glad I can talk to you about the pg. I have been sworn to secrecy by DHGrin.

No, September. Although I was rubbish and thought it would be end of sept, beg of oct and then worked it out properly!! I am hoping I'll be able to go to school for first day of term on Monday 3rd and then start mat leave after that!!

Imogen is in a cot bed, so very low and easy for her to getting and out of, not sure I would have done it. If it was a normal single and a bit higher, but who knows! We did just do it a bit randomly on a Sunday night really!! I don't know that it really matters tbh, one of those things that you just do whenever you reckon works best for you.

Yes, Catherine's is a cot bed too so while it's now a bed, it's a very low to the ground one and has a bed guard on too!

While she gets in and out of it easily during the day, she's not tried at sleep times yet which is good in that she's not getting in and out when we want her to sleep but is not so good in that she's still sitting there yelling to be gotten out in the mornings. Still early days though so hopefully she'll get it soon.

Alex was just past 2 when we changed the cot bed into a bed for him too, which then got swapped for a low bed after a couple of months as I was expecting Catherine and needed the cot. I guess that's what made it feel like the right time to change even though there's no one new needing the cot this time.

I had both of my babies on the 17th - 1 in March and 1 in December. It at least makes remembering birthdays easy :)

Maybe Grin

LifeOfKate · 04/01/2012 21:26

Yay, congratulations Ethelred!! How exciting :o Wishing you both happy and healthy pregnancies/births/babies :)

Re beds, Noah had to go into one to make room for Rosa. We didn't have a cot bed (cot was a hand me down) so that wasn't a consideration really. He's now in a bed which is part of a set of bunk beds, we attached the barriers to it as if it is the top of the bunk bed so there is only a hole at the end where the ladder should be, it works really well :)

I am soooo glad to be getting back to normal after birthday/christmas/new year, I didn't think we were very routiney but even getting out of the little routine we did have has made Noah and Rosa loopy!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 05/01/2012 17:06

Thank you Kate. I know what you mean about the routine, I must admit I wAs quite happy to get bCk to some sense of normality after all the hectic travelling and mass over-indulgence of the festive season!

Not routiney here either, but agree that getting back to normal is good all round. Well except the work bit! Not that my mind is currently focused on work properly though anyway... Off to meet my new nephew born on 9th december tomorrow for the weekend. Immy is very excited to be seeing her other cousin too and has been asking all week 'see maxi?'!!
