Blathers, I hope you're feeling better soon, it's rubbish being ill wihout having to look after 2 small children too :(

Hercule - just in case you don't know, slapped cheek can be very dangerous if someone is under 20 weeks pregnant, so best to avoid pregnant people until you know for sure :) Am suddenly glad I'm only chatting to you all via the internet Wink I currently know of a friend's SIL whose fetus is having to have blood tranfusions and lots of scans etc due to slapped cheek, scary stuff Confused

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/02/2011 11:13

I don't think it is slapped cheek - doctors don't think it is that. Her cheeks aren't any better, actually the rash is worse all over. It's raised and very hot to touch, although she doesn't have a temperature today. All the little spots have joined together so now she has big red raised patches with little spots just outside waiting to join in... the rash doesn't seem to bother her at all though, as in she doesn't itch it or anything. Thanks Kate, I did look it all up as my friend is pregnant, but if it was slapped cheek then once the rash spreads over their body then the contagious period has passed... I think it is just a viral rash - I've known a couple of adults who have had them, although it's more common in children. Just a way of reacting to a virus basically. She's just much more clingy than usual, but seems happier today. I think she also has teeth coming through, I am pretty sure I can see two at the back on the bottom right and so I think that isn't helping either... if no improvement in the morning we have to take her back to the doctors.

Last night for the first time in a month, she was up in the night - from 8.30 until 11.30. She wanted to play, but if anything didn't do what she wanted she had absolute hysterics because actually she was tired, but every time we put her down she screamed hysterically and wouldn't stop! I am exhausted today...

Blathers, hope your ABs have started to kick in now and you are feeling a little better...

LifeOfKate · 24/02/2011 13:13

Ooo, Hercule, do you think Noah has been talking to Imogen as he did EXACTLY the same thing!!!! He woke at half 8 and sort of cried/screamed in his sleep for about 2 hours and then seemed to properly wake up. Then he was happy and chatty, so I said I was going for a bit and would be back. Went to the loo and got ready for bed and he wasn't crying, just chatting to himself, so I took a risk and got into bed. He wailed for a few seconds a few times about 20 minutes later and then all went quiet and we didn't hear another peep until 8am Shock
That's one of the first times he's fallen asleep without one of us being there :o
I tried the same thing today when he was playing up at nap time, but sadly it didn't work :(
Going to have to go out this afternoon as he's a little horror without a nap.

Blatherskite · 24/02/2011 21:51

Catherine actually turned her cotside toy thing on by herself this morning!! She's back to waking at 6.15-6.30 but if I can encourage her to play with that for a while, I might keep my lie in!!

AB's are kicking in now and I'm feeling a little better. Throat feels bruised but I can now swallow without pain which is good. Has been a total waste of half term though Sad

LifeOfKate · 25/02/2011 09:09

Blather :( Great about Catherine though, our babies are getting cleverer :o

We had a rubbish night again and I am ashamed of myself. Also a bit Angry at DH as he was commenting this morning on knowing where Noah's tantrums come from... if he can hear I'm struggling, why doesn't he take over?!? But he won't because it's a weeknight Angry
Noah seems to have forgiven me for shouting at him in the middle of the night though, that almost makes it worse, they are so forgiving and I just feel awful :(

Blatherskite · 25/02/2011 20:56

Ah, we've all had a middle of the night moment Kate, don't feel bad. Middles of the night's are hard and he will never remember.

No cot playing this morning, just up and screaming. So pleased it's the weekend, I feel utterly drained today. Antibiotics are helping but neck still sore

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/02/2011 21:47

Kate don't feel bad, we've all done it. I had a bit of a moment this week with Imogen when she wouldn't take her antibiotics and was screaming, she was in tears, I was in tears and I felt awful afterwards. Aout two minutes later she gave me a big kiss bless her, so I don't think they hold grudges, especially when you are clearly so lovely with him al the rest of the time! I also think if you are pregnant again perhaps you could agree one weeknight when you dh will get up instead for now?

Blathers, hope you suddenly feel better tomorrow, it is so draining having tonsillitis, it really tires you out.

Imogen has been up two nights now out of the last three -we had a month of sleeping through though so not all bad. Her rash still bad, had to go back to doctors today and now on stronger antibiotics which might have side effects of bad stomach so fingers crossed on that front. They've booked us back in on Monday to check her again, so probably no work for me then. She had a temperature on Wednesday, but no other day and she has two bottom teeth at the back just come through, so I wonder if it was that which caused the temperature and not her rash, but who knows! She's a bit clingy and more easily upset, but for the most part fine.

Hoping for lots of sleep and getting well for everybody!

Thanks all, I'm glad it's not just me :) Last night I told DH that it was his turn to get up in the night, but Noah must have been listening as he slept from 7pm til 8am and even then I had to wake him up as we were going out at 9 Shock
If he wakes again tonight, I am still going to send DH, I need a good couple of nights without getting up.
Hopefully last night was a sign of things to come though (I can at least hope!) :o

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/02/2011 21:53

I want my sleep vibes back!!!! Imogen has now woken up too many times for my liking.. Weds, Fri and Saturday nights. Saturday night she was up between 2.45 and 3.45 am. We were exhausted, no idea what the problem is, she is standing up every time I go in, so I did wonder if she is trying to walk or something as she is trying a lot during the daytime too, or if it is just that she is a bit off key with her rash and teeth.

Tonight she was hilarious at dinner, refused to eat her risotto out of her plastic bowl with her plastic spoon and demanded a bowl the same as ours in order to eat any of it. Then she wanted our forks so we had to eat ours with spoons, we gave her a metal teaspoon instead but obviously that wasn't the same as our big spoons so we had to give her a big spoon and then she ate it!!!! It was so funny that I ended up snorting my drink everywhere because we were laughing so much at her. She did seem to realise it waa easier with her spoon every so often so hopefully it's a phase she'll get over soon!!!

Hope everyone is feeling better and getting sleep.

MrsHerculePoirot · 28/02/2011 08:57

Got them back thanks, finally a fab night's sleep through and Imogen finally seems much perkier today. I am staying at home with her as we have to take her back to the doctor this afternoon about her rash. It still seems to be there, but not as bright red, but they wanted us to go back to check as they aren't quite sure what it is.

Blatherskite · 28/02/2011 21:34

Catherine seems to be happily doing 7pm till 6.15/6.30 now which is brilliant although i'd still love an extra half an hour. There was a long time when I thought we'd never get here and I am loving finally feeling awake again. I'm feeling so much happier and in more control now.

Now just got to get her eating the same things as us and we'll be great Grin

Hope everyone is well

Hi All,

Hope everyone is well and getting some decent sleep. I think I managed to inadvertently do some controlled crying last night, woke up to Noah screaming in the next room, it sounded like he'd been crying for a while due to the volume, as he normally starts out small. I lay there for a minute getting my bearings and was just about to throw back the covers and go and see to him when he stopped and must have fallen asleep as I didn't hear another peep out of him all night Blush I just hope he wasn't crying for too long, poor little thing!

Hercule - how is Imogen's rash, do you know what it is yet?

Lee - yes, Noah throws mini-tantrums, the most worrying thing about them is that they involve him flinging his head down onto the nearest hard surface Shock If you are not there fast enough or can't catch him, he has had some nasty bangs, I'm not sure how to deal with it really Confused On the plus side, it does tend to make him forget about what he was having the tantrum about :o Wink

Sleep vibes needed here - Conrad has produced tooth 9 after several bad nights, but I don't think it's stopping there.

Little strops starting here too, often involving me leaving (briefly) like you, Lee.

MrsHerculePoirot · 02/03/2011 20:00

Oh god, I am soooo glad you are all saying about the tantrums! I thought it was just Imogen and was worried we were doing something wrong. Imogen either flings herself on the floor, but has learnt not to bang her head down on the hard floor and move to the rug first, or she stands by the chair and slams her head and fists on it! Sometimes it is funny, for example at the weekend she point blank refused to eat her dinner until she had it out of a proper bowl the same as ours with a big metal spoon the same as ours, sometimes just very annoying. We are ignoring it as much as possible, trying to distract and then praising her when she stops and starts behaving properly - no idea if that is the right thing to do, or if it makes the slightest bit of difference though!!

Thanks for asking about the rash, went back to doctors on Monday, so had to have day off work. Doctor said it looked better and should be completely gone by end of week. Still not entirely sure what it was, as other than one day she had no temperature. Anyway, she and I were both glad to get out of the house on Tuesday! It currently still seems to be there, faded, but no better than Monday, so will just keep an eye on it.

Still no walking here on her own, but loads of walking holding onto one finger. Every other night sleeping throu at moment, hopefully now back to normal routine that will improve again, but I think there seem to also be quite a fe teeth popping through too...

ABF hope op goes/has gone well.

hi all, just saying hello, will write more tomorrow . xxx

Blatherskite · 03/03/2011 21:32

I only ever come here complaining to today will make a nice change....Today has been lovely Grin

Alex woke up at 6.30 (probably by DH banging around as he got up for work) but Catherine slept until 7.30am!! Shock It was only a few weeks ago that I was tearing my hair out because she was getting up at 5.20 so 7.30 is a positive lie in!!

Alex had his first ever World Book Day this morning and happily dressed up as a Gingerbread man this morning. He loves the book and he loves making Gingerbread men too and asked earlier in the week if he could make some to take in. I checked if that was OK with his Keyworker yesterday (I didn't know if they were allowed to give out home made stuff) and she said yes and said she'd always wanted to do gingerbread men with the children but they've got no cooking equipment on-site - so I offered to take them in uniced for her so they could do the decorating. When I went to pick Alex up, all the children had little bags with decorated gingerbread men in them and I saw two of the little girls running out with big grins saying "look Mummy, we made Gingerbread men" Grin It really made me smile.

Catherine and I had a lovely time while Alex was at school too. She's learnt to kiss now and will climb on you to give you one which is really lovely. And when Alex got home, she napped for 2hours and 45 minutes until I went to wake her up! Shock so I got to spend a good chunk of one on one time playing with Alex while she slept too.

We had 2 firsts too. She's getting better at walking but still insists on holding hands for support most of the time. She's always refused to walk with Alex (which he gets upset about) maybe because he doesn't feel so safe, but today she walked holding his hand - he was such a proud big brother :) And then at bathtime, she did "Ahhhh" as we brushed her teeth for the first time. It was so funny watching her sit there with this huge open mouth going "Ahhhh" as we brushed her teeth Grin

AND they both went to bed easily!

I'm tired now - Still suffering with this tonsillitis and it's making me tired and grumpy - but I've had a lovely day

We have mini tantrums here. They only ever seem tame compared to Alex's proper tantrums but she definitely has them. With Catherine it's usually because she wants to do something she hasn't quite mastered yet - like the walking - when she wants to get somewhere but can't quite manage it yet. Sounds like there are a few more walkers coming on too now. Is anyone properly up and about yet?

Glad Imogen's rash is better now Hercule. Has it gone completely now?

Hope the op went well ABF and that you're feeling OK. Get well soon x
