Shiny new thread for Christmas!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Becaroooo · 12/03/2011 14:21

digi Thank you.

You have been on my mind a lot this week. I really hope the tests help you to move on/understand whats happened.

I was so distraught after my 4th mc...it was just before xmas and I just wanted to hole up somewhere and whimper but, like you, I had ds1 and he kept me sane and made me laugh and - amazingly - we had a lovely xmas - and Toby was born 9 months later!!!

Take care of yourself x

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/03/2011 17:35

Good luck with the tests Digi, I don't blame you for going the private route. Sometimes the NHS is wonderful, but sometimes it's like banging your head against a brickwall.

So good news and bad news eh Bec? Good to have a diagnosis, but of course that news always brings some grief with it to. The development guy sounds a bit of an arse tbh. We can all be grateful that certain things aren't worse, but that doesn't change the reality you are facing at the moment does it?

I just helped out a village Nearly New Sale (not an NCT one, that's in a few weeks time!). We took over £60 on the refreshments. Some of the profits will be donated to the hospital that ds1 was treated at, so that makes me feel very happy. However my back is sore and I'm ready to put my feet up for the day Blush

Good news about T at nursery hopefully, fingers crossed he has turned a corner Smile

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/03/2011 23:00

DG glad your boys are looking after you, hope your recovery continues well.

bec that's great that you have a diagnosis but I'm so sorry you and your lovely DS are going through this at all.

I've had a very nice (almost entirely child-free) day but tomorrow is set to be chaos so I'd better get myself to bed!

dg how sweet that ds is looking after you so well. I hope the tests can give you some answers.

bec hope you can get some answers too. Getting a diagnosis is always going to seem bad but if it helps you and school know how to help him then it'll be a good thing.

Carrie your child free day sounded lovely.

Hope 'she who must not be named' (in case the bad person is stalking mentions of her name) is ok.

Becaroooo · 13/03/2011 09:21

carrie Luckily ds1 is pretty oblivious to it all really. He knows we went on weds to try and help him with his reading and writing, but the assessment process itself was fun for him as it was just lots of exercises and showing off what he can do Smile

Not sure how he will cope with the audio testing...will have to wait and see.

I am currently sitting on the sofa with toby watching pingu and keeping his playdoh eggs warm in case they hatch!!! Grin

The things you do.........

CappuccinoCarrie · 13/03/2011 21:25

Love it bec! I often have to look after DD's teddy while she's at nursery, I have to make sure he has a good nap and snack and play games with him!

OP posts:
Becaroooo · 13/03/2011 21:48

I squashed one!

Dont tell him!

DebiTheScot · 13/03/2011 21:58

hahahaha Grin That made me laugh.

I had to tell ds2 I'd stood by the oven door the whole time his gingerbread men cooked to make sure none escaped (he was having his nap). Actually what I did was got sidetracked by mn something really important that took longer than expected and burnt them all and had to make a second batch.

Becaroooo · 13/03/2011 22:08
Grin

Glad its not just me who does mad stuff....the most mad thing I have ever done to please/help my dc was when ds1 was really constipated once...He made me shout down the loo "come out you naughty poo!!!"

Blush

I used to be normal.

Honest.

Meglet · 14/03/2011 09:34

bookmarking...

Kagey · 14/03/2011 10:45

That's funny Bec, fortunately DD has not made me do anything too crazy just yet. However she is obsessed with putting dollies onto the naughty step and bossing them about.

DD is at her Grandma's for a few hours today so I am busying myself on the internet and avoiding the piles of washing to do Blush.

Becaroooo · 14/03/2011 11:45

kagey I am also on here avoiding housework. Toby is asleep and I am going to watch my secret vice...bargain hunt!!!

Smile
Meglet · 14/03/2011 13:28

I've avoided housework too. But I have made bread and peanut butter cookies this morning which makes up for it.

DebiTheScot · 14/03/2011 13:47

I'm avoiding marking exam papers and doing housework Grin

I've also been known to set up the knights or the playmobil of duplo people at night to make it looh like they were playing themselves at night.

I was never normal!

CappuccinoCarrie · 14/03/2011 14:03

I'm avoiding housework and packing as we're going away for a couple of days.
I love setting up dd's teddies so they look like they're reading or having a picnic Blush. So glad I'm not alone!
LOL at the escaping gingerbread men, you can't be too careful Wink

just seen this on another thread...

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better,
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed,
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come 'round again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not always kind.
And when you go and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.

DebiTheScot · 14/03/2011 18:51

that's very good meg but does suggest you should be doing something more productive with your time than mning!
I got my tests marked though and have ticked off about 6 things off my to do list. Only another 473 to go!

DebiTheScot · 14/03/2011 18:53

Oh actually it was 10 things Smile

Hopefully · 14/03/2011 18:59

DP and I quite often rearrange T's farm animals into more pleasing arrangements within his farmhouse (and get into heated rows about how the cows would get upstairs). It's nice that we've all completely lost it Hmm Grin

T is a bit under the weather at the moment. It's weird - he's all listless and tired, but that's basically his only symptom! He was sick saturday morning, but nothing since then. He's been like it since saturday, don't know whether to take him to doc's or not, as there's nothing really wrong with him. It could just be a build up of not napping for a few days and minor bug on saturday I suppose. He slept on my lap (literally hasn't done that since he was about 10 months) for about 90 mins after nursery this afternoon, and is just off to bed as I type...

Meglet · 14/03/2011 19:03

LOL debi that did occur to me too Grin.

Meglet · 14/03/2011 20:18

Here's a gem for you all. DD did a poo in her potty earlier. She got up and turned around to see what she had produced and proudly yelled "It's a smiley face!!". She had done a perfect 'smile' shaped poo . Then she went on to say it needed eyes Hmm Grin.

Becaroooo · 14/03/2011 20:58

debi I cannot tell you how happy that makes me Smile

meglet soooo funny Grin

Hope T is feeling more himself soon...ds1 caught everything going when he started nursery and he was worn out too after each session - had a nap after nursery ecah day til he started reception!!!

ninjinglebells · 14/03/2011 21:38

Just signing in - things not good with H and I don't seem to have any energy atm - doesn't help that I got concussion skiing a couple of weeks ago (you may have seen my impresive black eye on fb!)

It'll probably take me a few months to catch up but I plan to try to - might need some cyber-support over the next few months

Anyone elses lo got no interest in potty training?

Becaroooo · 14/03/2011 21:42

Sorry to hear of your troubles ninja Sad

Toby would quite happily sit in a pooey nappy all day, so you are not alone there! Smile

Take care
x

ninjinglebells · 14/03/2011 21:43

Congratulations MrsA that's really fantastic news Grin

DG sorry about yours Sad

Bec it is best to get the diagnosis, it doesn't change your DS, but it should mean he'll get the help that he needs
