Totally's original thread was for TTC after MC. It continued long after Totally herself graduated, and is still going strong. Totally's grads was set up as a thread for pregnancy post MC - i.e. anyone who graduated from Totally's thread and anyone else who had experienced MC and was now pregnant. It, too, is still going strong.

Now, more and more of us have graduated from Totally's grads - including LouiseSH, whose Georgie was born asleep. I suppose that makes us postgrads. We have travelled together for a long time and would like to stay in touch, but the pregnancy post MC thread is starting to get very big, and I think it should be allowed to keep its focus on pregnancy post MC. May it be as wonderful a place for support for current "members" as it was for us.

So this thread is a place for us to keep in touch, share experiences, and provide support.

(This is the first time ever I'm starting a thread - hope it works out...)

Maybe you should try longer naps? I know it sounds weird, but I've read that sleep encourages sleep. If she had a longer afternoon nap she might stay awake later, or she might weirdly sleep longer at night, or wake up but go back to sleep again.

Spring Take care ((()))
Congrats Penguinsmommy lovely news XX
Hi Meita Yes they re planning on ELCS at 37 weeks.I m too hitting the "mentalling" stage now.My hvs from last week picked up GBS so i m battling my consultant for iv antibiotics during the section. At the moment she says not but this is via epu over the phone i will be discussing/laying down the law at an appointment. All the research states if you re found gbs+ in your current pg should be given iv antibiotics during labour so don t understand her reasoning behind saying no.I ve referred myself back to my counsellor as need some help at the moment.Yesterday was a bad as i went to look for my results [on system at work] when i saw all Georgie's results and my bloods etc....from 10.10.10.It hit me BIG time to see it all written in black and white "reason for request: stillbirth at fullterm" cue : many tears.....work a write off yesterday.Taken today off work as feel crap , physically and its my long day.

Hi all hope everyone's ok? XXXXXX

PenguinsMummy · 19/04/2011 13:06

Spring take it easy and try to get some rest.

Louise Many congratulations and soooooo pleased for you. Given all you have been through, hopefully your counseller will help you with any support that you need throughout your pregnancy and birth.

All well here - knackered but happy!

SpringFlowers · 19/04/2011 15:31

Having torrid time. Blood pressure issues yesterday evening as severely dehydrated. Just having a blood transfusion now. Things are not going brilliantly here at all. Unexpectedly horrifically anaemic. R has eaten lots of pureed food but still not drunk anything. Petit filous have saved the day.

HappyGirl1 · 19/04/2011 15:36

Awh Spring you poor thing.. really hope the blood transfusion helps you really are going through the mill hope things get better soon - thinking of you lots

Louise down days are totally natural, you are right to see your counsellor again and see if they can help.. it's such a tough time for you but equally now georgie is looking after you to help you xx

Muser · 19/04/2011 15:54

Poor Spring, I'm so sorry things are going badly. Hope you're on the mend soon

Gi1da · 19/04/2011 19:05

Oh crap Spring sorry to hear it's all gone a bit pear shaped. Does that mean you were anaemic before but didn't know? I really hope they get you patched up and on the mend pronto. Miserable to be in hospital a moment longer than you need to, but of course the main thing is to get you all sorted out. Glad you found the filou I think a lot of liquid is gained from food so prob ok that she's not drinking? Wishing you better asap Smile

Meita how's Geneva? Sorry to say you are missing an early summer heatwave here!

Louise a spot on mentalling is the norm but of course especially understandable once the worst has already happened. Good to talk about it, glad to hear you are. Smile Would like to wave a haddock in your direction and say step away from the hospital records! I'm sure it's enormously tempting, but maybe try to just be a normal punter?

Happy wow, I think your sleep routine sound great! And now it's pretending to be summer, 5.30am isn't as bad as it was a few weeks ago, early bird and all that. And DO NOT LISTEN to anyone else telling you what their babies allegedly do!

Lovely sunny day here, walk in the park (actual one, not metaphorical) and washed all the bedding for the first time in ages as usual. I love my new washing line. Nappies swinging out in the garden now.

Wishing peaceful evenings to all, gold star to anyone having a Pimms. I wish I was!! xx

Gi1da · 19/04/2011 19:20

Duh, you're back already aren't you Meita?
Do I remember right that you have the wool wraps for nappy night time? I think I asked about this before R was born so the memory is a bit hazy. Loving the old totsbots for daytime, just trying to get a lasting night time solution. Have a few little lamb bamboo boosters to try adding. Experimentation not a welcoming thought though as my ability to function with any reliable level of hand eye coordination in the middle of the night seems to be seriously waning. Can't for the life of me comprehend how I managed those first 6 weeks! Seemed ok at the time but I must have been mental! Ah, so anyhoo, any real nappy night time advice welcome! Yes I know there's the Nappy Shed thread but those ladies scare me! Smile

Gi1da · 19/04/2011 19:23

Blimey just seen how many !! I used. I should get me to netmums lol!!

HappyGirl1 · 19/04/2011 19:34

I use '!' too much also Gilda :-)

Just brought C for a walk in my arms up and down the road to try and keep her awake a bit longer - fresh air seems to have worked, going to start bedtime routine at 8 tonight instead of 7 and see what the night brings! DH at the footie

Trying to lose some baby weight but just had one stick of a twirl - bold bold bold happy girl!

ps saw the Donkey in real life today - it's v v nice Smile

Meita · 19/04/2011 19:58

Hi,
congrats penguin good to have you here :)

Louise Ianto caught GBS from me during birth, and so I read up on it meanwhile. I think the guidelines in England are that 'normal' people who have GBS don't get any treatment, only at-risk cases. I don't remember what constitutes being at-risk, except that if a previous baby has had GBS, you are at risk, but there are other factors too. I think you are right to push for the IV antibiotics. There is a GBS awareness society, I'll look up the link and post it - there is lots of useful info on there and facts you could print out and take along to your consultant appointment.

Gi1da no I'm still away, will be for another 2.5 weeks. I know, I'm not very good at timing my holidays! But the weather here is nice too, just not quite as warm.
Regarding the nappies, we use Minkies shaped nappies for nighttime, with wool wraps that my friend knitted for me. Being the lazy sods that we are, we leave them on from when I. gets put to bed (around 7.30pm) until he gets up (around 7.30am - sounds amazing doesn't it! I just wish he'd sleep all that time!). They work - as in, we never get any leaks or such. But oufff does he smell in the morning! When the woollens are in the wash (once every month or so - in the meantime we just air them) we use a motherease airflow wrap. We usually use one microfiber booster with the minkies, but two cotton ones work just as well. I like the wool for its breathability, we never get problems with rash or such, but can't tell if that's down to the woollens or what.
During the day we use Itti Tuttos and they work really well, are cute and slim. However BF-poo makes a big mess in them, requires lots of scrubbing due to the many bits. Now on solids it's much more convenient.
Once when I did a short stint in the nappy shed a lady there said that there is a nappy out there that is specifically for nighttime. It's called 'something.night.nappy' I think. But a well boosted normal shaped nappy should do the trick too, unless you have a very heavy wetter.

SpringSam so sorry to hear of your difficulties. Hope it has already improved and fx it will just get better now.

Gi1da · 19/04/2011 20:13

Thanks Meita Smile. Will get on with booster / nappy experimenting, maybe there's a project for my mum; at my speed of knitting he'd be at school before I finished!

Gi1da · 19/04/2011 20:17

Happy good luck tonight Smile

ps at Donkey. I thought I saw one in the park today and veered off to follow it till DH asked me where the feck I was going. Had to pretend I was just dodging dog poo.

Meita · 19/04/2011 20:27

Louise:
www.gbss.org.uk/

and here is something from the NHS:
www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/2580.aspx

there are also several US based groups. Anyway, the NHS page says that all women who had GBS found in their current pregnancy should get ABs when giving birth. Also, has GBS been ruled out as a cause for Georgie's death? Because if it hasn't been ruled out, you should most definitely be classed as high risk (and accordingly get the ABs).
HTH.

Meita enjoy your hol Smile sorry I missed namechecking you earlier.. that is one fab routine you are in with little I - well done you!

Louise thinking of you.. hope you are feeling well.. are you 12/13 weeks now?

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 05:31

Feeling much better. Having another bag of blood later this morning and should be able to go home tomorrow. Currently been expressing milk for an hour - woke up after 6 hours sleep with boulders for boobs! This is the first time I've had six hours sleep in a row for about 14 months.

Gi1da · 20/04/2011 09:00

Glad you had a good night Spring, and found a silver lining! Smile

Wishing everyone a happy, sunny day.

HappyGirl1 · 20/04/2011 09:20

Spring great you got 6 hours sleep that's fab! Great you are feeling much better also and well done you on expressing that's great.. How is R doing?

We had a fun night, up at 2.30 - 4.30 just wide awake and looking around and kicking, then slept 4.30 - 5.30 and then up for the day! No idea what's brought on the total lack of sleep little C is needing but she is super cute so i'm sure we will get there, once she is okay that's all i worry about.

What an amazing amazing day! Gilda wishing you a happy sunny day too! Amazing day here, waiting on C's high chair to arrive but will play in the garden instead of going for a walk

Unbuffy · 20/04/2011 09:58

Popping by to wish Spring all the best and congratulate Louise again.

Unbuffy · 20/04/2011 09:58

Also waving frantically to everyone else btw Grin

Gi1da · 20/04/2011 10:14

< pops in to stick an episode of I'm Sorry (IHAC) on stereo for Lurky in the hope that Humph can spread a little joy >

Sorry you didn't get more shut eye Happy but at least the sun is out and C is chirpy, she does sound lovely btw.

Don't flick me in the head for saying this but I am contemplating waking R up as I want to get us off and out to meet DH before it gets too hot. He's been in our bed since DH got up and changed him and I fed him at 7. Wakes up occasionally, farts smiles, stretches like a contented cat then dozes off again. Of course this means no daytime naps which can be a little wearing. Come on baby there's a whole new day out there!

Gi1da · 20/04/2011 10:17

Did feed at 2.30 and 5am so am not bragging about all night sleep, just does his best snoozing in the morning, duh!

DorcasB · 20/04/2011 11:09

Hi everyone, another gorgeous day!
spring, sorry you've been having a difficult time, but at least the operation is done and over with now and it sounds like things are improving which is great.
happy I feel your pain about the middle of the night partying. It's all very well when they are awake because they need feeding, cuddling, help to get back to sleep, but what do you do with a smiley baby that just wants to chat? After my boast on Sunday we had another similar night that night and now we are back to 2-3 hour stretches. Which is still pretty good I reckon. Awake at 1am, 5am and 7. I think that's probably reasonable for a ten week old. I have also noticed that it is always people in RL who tell you how their babies sleep through from 7-7. And I have come to the conclusion that what peole mean by sleeping through can be very different things!
I managed to put my back out this week, DP had to take time off work as I couldn't lift Little D. It's a lot better now but really scared me, it felt horrible not being able to look after her without help. I think I really need to be more careful with how I am picking her up, I don't want to do it again.
gilda it feels very, very wrong to wake a sleeping baby, I had to do it at the clinic last week to weigh her. Sometimes they can sleep at very inconvenient times though!
Louise it must be terrifying to be pregnant after all you have been through. I was sick with anxiety having had a mc, so I can only imagine how hard it is having lost a baby at full term. It must be taking all the strength you have got just to get through each day. I'm glad you are seeing your counsellor again, hope she can help.

Oh and happy I too am waiting in for a highchair to be delivered. Have finally persuaded a very grumpy baby to have a nap (lying on me, obviously!) and I just know they are going to actually turn up early for once and wake her up!

SpringFlowers · 20/04/2011 17:29

There are probably not so many people who can say that they have breastfed their baby whilst receiving a blood transfusion! Was lovely to feed again but a little tricky with the line going in and bruising. It will get easier I'm sure.
