Totally's original thread was for TTC after MC. It continued long after Totally herself graduated, and is still going strong. Totally's grads was set up as a thread for pregnancy post MC - i.e. anyone who graduated from Totally's thread and anyone else who had experienced MC and was now pregnant. It, too, is still going strong.

Now, more and more of us have graduated from Totally's grads - including LouiseSH, whose Georgie was born asleep. I suppose that makes us postgrads. We have travelled together for a long time and would like to stay in touch, but the pregnancy post MC thread is starting to get very big, and I think it should be allowed to keep its focus on pregnancy post MC. May it be as wonderful a place for support for current "members" as it was for us.

So this thread is a place for us to keep in touch, share experiences, and provide support.

(This is the first time ever I'm starting a thread - hope it works out...)

Hi, quick post, too exhausted to name check sorry, hope you and your babies are well. We saw another lactation consultant who confirmed it is definitely posterior tongue tie. Poor DD has very little movement in her tongue, so it was no wonder breastfeeding was agonising- she just couldn't cushion her lower gum with her tongue at all. Am a bit Angry that it has taken so long to get this diagnosis- I first took her to a breastfeeding clinic at 4 days old. If it had been spotted then it would have saved us three weeks of difficult feeding and saved me a hell of a lot of pain! Anyway, we have an appointment to get it snipped tomorrow, going privately as I just cannot last another few weeks waiting for an NHS referral. Fx this will improve matters. We had a terrible night last night- me in a lot of pain and she cried for 5 hours solidly! I'm not sure if it was related to feeding though, as I did feed her and it didn't seem to calm her down. Is this normal for babies to cry inconsolably for so long? Or are we missing something? It's heartbreaking to hear her wailing like that, not to mention utterly exhausting! I'm just worried I am not giving her what she needs and am psychologically damaging her in the process!

dorcas111 · 02/03/2011 10:17

Also, sorry that my posts are so me,me,me at the moment. Hopefully I will be less moany when this bf issue is resolved!

Meita · 02/03/2011 12:11

dorcas, i think you are doing brilliantly. it's purely down to your persistence, despite everything, to continue BF and your insistence to find out what was wrong, that the tongue tie was discovered. if you hadn't persisted, it might only have been diagnosed when DD would have started showing delays in speech development. you are doing really well by her.

me me me-ness is fully expected at this stage ;)

toomuchteaching · 02/03/2011 12:22

Don't worry Dorcas, I think we're all entitled to a bit of me me me (well I'm certainly having my fair share!) Really pleased you've found out what the problem is and I hope this means you can now get the BF sorted.

Just to say quickly, RHG Cecily is seriously gorgeous and I totally love the pregnant photo of you, it is beautiful. I think bookface stalking is allowed when we're admiring each other's gorgeous LOs. I'll reiterate my call for some PMing if you're keen.

Thanks Gi1da, I know I'm being silly. I can't imagine ever being able to sleep through the snorkling as you call it (love it!) though, it's like having a guinea pig in the room with me. Enjoy your trip to work.

Alba glad you got out successfully!

Meita I'm really pleased you've found somewhere else, that nursery sounds awful, and I can totally see the OFSTED judgement. I'm quite a lot jealous that you'll be doing something academic (what's it in?), maternity leave has interrupted my masters and I do miss the brain stimulation. Hopefully J's sparkling conversation will come along soon!

Have a good day all, we're off for our six week check.

AlbaDeTamble · 02/03/2011 14:19

Dorcas mememe posts absolutely allowed! Echo the others, amazing achievement to hang in there so long. Here's to pain free feeding from tomorrow

RHG and TMT have PM'd you how to find me on bookface

Muser · 02/03/2011 15:45

I am jealous of the Bookface gang!

clareanna · 02/03/2011 17:29

alba feel free to out me on fb to toomt and rhg

Unbuffy · 02/03/2011 19:25

Come and play MUSE!

toomuchteaching · 02/03/2011 19:48

I am a little bit over excited to see your babies!

I however have a very grumpy, howlywail baby, who even the doctor at her 6 week check today said "oooh, good lungs", up for grabs tonight! Any takers? I keep telling myself that most colic is over by 3 months so we're past half way.

She passed her checks with flying colours, I on the other hand did not :(. We didn't get the intercourse (eewww gross word) green light. Stitches all fine but the graze from her hand is still scarring, it's overgranulated apparently. Have been told I have to look (I've been avoiding it, and I'm a biology/sex education teacher Wink) so I know when it gets better. Must troop upstairs with a mirror, if I can ever get this little one to drop off.

Unbuffy · 02/03/2011 19:51

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.... intercourse...

As if...

AlbaDeTamble · 02/03/2011 19:58

What Buffy said

but seriously, that doesn't sound like fun Toomt. hope you're all mended soon.

Meita · 02/03/2011 20:05

TMT glad she 'passed', sorry though that you still need some healing. That's one good thing about the CS - no damage anywhere else. So, you have to 'look' and then? When it has a certain look (did you get pictures, to compare?) you can do the intercourse again? Or do you have to go back?

I remember when GP asked at 8 weeks check 'have you thought about contraception?' I replied, 'well, I've thought about it, yes.' :o

sniff I'm suffering from the worst cold since a long, long time. Interrupted sleep at night is NOT aiding recovery.

Lotta123 · 02/03/2011 20:08

Dorcas our baby cried for five hours solidly one night last week and it was horrific. Turns out it was bad wind. Was your DD pulling a face that looked like a half smile and then puliing her legs up a lot? I think wind problems are common with feeding problems.

toomuchteaching · 02/03/2011 20:20

Gi1da, Alba and Unbuff the three of you are bookface friends with someone (so they must be on here) with a slightly unusual surname, profile picture is pregnant in a black dress in front of some beautiful scenery. I'm keen to know who it is because that slightly unusual surname is my maiden name... and it's not that common! Weird.

To be honest I wasn't too worried, I'm not in pain or anything, but I can tell it feels different if you know what I mean. I think I just have to keep checking it Hmm until it looks better, whatever that might mean, and no I didn't get any pictures to line up and compare Meita. I'm pretty glad I didn't! She only told me what to do if it doesn't get better (and I don't want to think about that), I wasn't given any particular sex instructions! Poor DH, I wasn't exactly keen while pregnant...

I too think this is the worst cold I've ever had. We're still going with it two and a half weeks later. Seriously sore throat, achey, coughing, snotty, it's awful. You have my sympathies Meita.

clareanna · 02/03/2011 21:06

Urrgh toomt I'm thinking the word 'graze' is a euphemism- sounds slightly more painful than that... The mirror is a rite of passage -good luck!

meita and toomt boo hiss and sniffle to your colds- hope you get over them soon. My dh has a cold and ds1 had diarrhoea today. Am considering barricading myself and ds2 in the bedroom until they are better! I've been taking probiotics throughout my pg and really think they have helped- haven't had a single cold (touch wood) so would recommend them. Wishing you some good long stretched of sleep to help you recover.

alba dh doesn't like co-sleeping, makes him nervous, I do like it though, they sleep longer and you so get more sleep definitely!

We have discovered the hypnotic powers of the extractor fan in the kitchen, ds2 is currently having a lovely big sleep in his Moses basket in the kitchen listening to it- anything for a bit of time off!!

AlbaDeTamble · 02/03/2011 23:27

thought i'd escaped the howlywails tonight... he'd been lovely all evening, till just dropping off to sleep at 10pm and suddenly eyes wide open and yelling. suppose it didn't last so long, but the later it is, the worse it feels

clareanna · 03/03/2011 04:29

Just done 1am feed and woken up still sitting up, baby still with boob in mouth fast asleep to discover it's 4am- sssh don't tell the mw!!

toomuchteaching · 03/03/2011 09:35

We won't tell if you don't! The two days before my HV came the only way i'd managed a nap was to fall asleep with J on the sofa. She went through various leaflets with me including one about not sleeping on the sofa saying "but of course that's so obvious you'd never do that." Oops Blush

Hope at least you got some decent sleep.

toomuchteaching · 03/03/2011 10:41

Poonami dilemma... having been grizzly for nearly 2 hours she's just done a big poo and fallen asleep on me. Leave it or wake her? (It's definitely too long to save it for DH!) I think we all know which way I'm leaning... guess I'll have to put up with some stinkiness.

Unbuffy · 03/03/2011 11:15

I GOT SOME SLEEP!!!!

2 wakings between 11pm and 8.40 am!!!!

Oh, I feel almost human again. What a relief!!!!!

Think the cold is 'going around' - we're still suffering too but right now I don't care quite so much - SLEEP ROCKS!!

Unbuffy · 03/03/2011 11:15

TMT I'd leave it too. It might be mostly wind...

Meita · 03/03/2011 14:55

ah, TMT did you end up leaving it in favour of sleep?

Just got back from the doctors. Have been developing this pain in my chest, right side... and it's been getting worse. People from NHSdirect suggested I have someone look at it, as I might be developing something. Luckily the lady from the walk-in centre concluded it was most likely a pulled muscle. But that doesn't change the fact that it bloody hurts every time I cough! It's a bit like labour pain, as in, you know it's coming, you know it's going to be bad... but you can't breathe through it because you're busy coughing, obviously. Unfortunately wallowing in the bath is not an option either, as alone with baby until tomorrow. Maybe I'll try leaning onto the bouncy ball?
If I. were taking the bottle I'd seriously consider giving up BFing right now, in order to be able to take all those decongestants and stuff.

Unbuffy yay! A decent bit of sleep makes such a huge difference, doesn't it just. But don't forget it was the first decent night after many months of less-than-decent, so go easy ok?

toomuchteaching · 03/03/2011 15:56

Just watched Monday's OBEM and cried my eyes out when the lady who'd lost two babies had her little boy. I'm a blubbering wreck, and also totally in awe of all of you who had CSs... and are dealing with recovering from that and a new baby! Next week is a lady who had 4 MC... cue tears again no doubt.

Of course I left it! Of course she woke up about ten minutes later anyway so it hardly mattered!

Redheadgal · 03/03/2011 20:56

Arses... I was feeling sooo smug! We got her bathed, fed and in bed asleep for 7.30pm and DH and I were just celebrating with a large G&T spending some much needed quality time together when she started up an hour later. Thankfully it's DH's turn tonight, so he's there with the pats and Shhhhhhs. I'm on MN and making sure dinner doesn't spoil.

C had her tongue-tie snipped today. It wasn't too bad, at least it didn't seem to be - for her anyway! I was a nervous wreck. A small snip and anaesthetic beforehand and it was done.

I'm being called... it's now my turn apparently. Don't quite know how since I've done the past two nights, but hey.

toomuchteaching · 03/03/2011 23:01

Tomorrow evening we're going to our village quiz, the biggest event of the year and last year we were runners up. It's from 7.45 - 10.

Tonight she has cried from 7.30 - 10.30. With breaks on the boob. Arses (as RHG says) looks like we're going to be a team member down :(
