If it is ears memphis the calpol won't really touch the pain for him. The doctor gave ellie brufen and anti biotic. The brufen made such a difference to her straight away. She wasn't great at taking the brufen so he changed her to the nurofen suppositeries. Just a few ideas. The poor little thing and poor you. 2 Sick men to look after. Make sure to look after yourself

X post memphis. I definately think a mothers instinct is always right. You know theres something wrong so just push that point across that you want him seen today.

Woodlands · 15/12/2010 10:43

poor l! hope he feels better soon.

i tried a dreamfeed last night - j had been asleep from 9 and i was lying awake at 12.30 waiting for him to wake up, so i thought i'd try it. he didn't wake up, only took one side, but then slept till 5.30am! had to change a pooey nappy then so he was quite awake but happy in his cot, and the next thing i knew it was 9am. feel quite human today!

tonight i'm going out for christmas dinner with the nct ladies, can'tt wait. i just hope i can get j off to sleep by 7pm...

memphis83 · 15/12/2010 10:47

mlif Grin I think it was a one off, plus he was in my bed the whole time!

CrimboCakeandRoses · 15/12/2010 12:10

anyone else's nipples being used as teethers? Angry

other than that, it looks like my tummy is pretty much back to normal - yay! i swear by salty crisps and flat lucozade now, thanks to tsc. (is lucozade a legal swap for lemonade?) i love lucozade but never drink it these days. it was such a blast from the past as I used to drink bottles of it to keep me going all night in the big london clubs - my friends were all Miss/Mr E to my Ms Lucozade)

an ok night here altho got woken twice by A - once for wind and another time for teething altho I just gave her a feed then (3.30am) rather than being woken a third time.

Off to a lovely garden centre with a friend and her two this afternoon, has gorgeous decorations and animated polar bears etc - hoping to see father xmas if i can be arsed to queue he's around.

re babies manipulating (belated comeback as was watching a dvd last night rather than Mnetting!): i agree with mlic/her hv said about expecting the attention that they've always had- most of us (inadvertently or thru no choice) give babies 'bad' habits where they expect to be picked up, settled or fed all the time. I still maintain that's not manipulation tho but i'm probably just splitting hairs as i think we kinda all think the same.

mlic my bad re the formula. I think i got confused as they tried so many formulas inc another hypoallergenic one (but dairy iirc). I know he didn't stay on neocate but perhaps he just disliked that one rather than being intolerant to it?

any joy with docs?

I'm assuming dummy-weaning didn't go well? Sad

CrimboCakeandRoses · 15/12/2010 12:31

man, i feel old.

Thus far I've been lucky, at nearly 40 I haven't had to dye my hair as i can count my grey hairs on one hand (after I pull them out that is, they're not growing from my hand).

Just did a grey hair check and whilst I can still count them i'd be dead from old age before i reached the end i need at least both hands.

Sad
MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 15/12/2010 13:17

Uh oh...think my washing machine is daffy ducked now :( Just got in from the Tesco shopping and unloaded it without noticing the screen was black. Came back in from the tumble dryer (sorry not environmentally friendly I know but I can't dry towels in the house in this weather it takes too long!) and I couldn't turn it on/of/anything else.

Am taking it slowly with the dummy weaning cake and I actually think it helped that I started yesterday as all the boys in my house are now full of snot. Nice :) So he couldn't have held it overnight even if he wanted to. The night started off terribly and eased off a bit. After a 10.50 feed he had another at 3.55am and I think probably a handful of wake ups around those. I honestly didn't think he did bad considering how bunged up he was. Dh couldn't sleep at 4 either so kept trying to talk to me. I love you dh, but seriously, naff off it's the middle of the night! At least he was only trying to talk I suppose Wink

The doctor rang me back and said the specialist has to refer as it's so...specialist. My GP is going to write to the gastroenterologist see if he'll do it. I don't hold my breath anything will happen fast.

WinterChillita · 15/12/2010 13:50

There there cakes it's not so bad, my nan went completely white at 18 so early aging runs in my family.
mlic that's not so bad then, I mean, not a good night but not exactly bad. My dh is exactly the same about chatting/trying it on at stupid o'clock just cos he can't sleep. Good luck with the gastroenterologist (glad dh doesn't have that job, imagine trying to pronounce that everytime someone asked...)
memphis hope the doctor's are helpful today, I can't believe the issues you have, we had to take S in today and they got us an appt straight away.
Sam had a decent night, slept from 9pm til 2, up for an hour then slept 3 til 6, up for an hour then 7 til 8.30. He's got such a bad cough that he was winding himself up last night into such a state it took me ages to calm him down again - hence the hour in the middle of the night.

memphis83 · 15/12/2010 13:54

well back from doctors...got the cooky hippy nut job doctor again after i got told i was having the lovely sexy doctor he has a temperature, ear and throat infection, its apparently common in teething babies, carry on with calpol and if you want by some nurofen, babies his age dont need anti b's apparently Hmm
cakes in 27 and im sure i found a grey hair but my lovely hairdresser totally denied seeing it as she slapped on the brown hairdye, my mum is 55 and is blonde as she was when she was a baby :(

WinterChillita · 15/12/2010 13:59

WHAT? don't need antiB's? what kind of an idiot is he?! Sorry but surely babies this age need them more than we do because complications can happen quicker...not saying they will but seriously, what is he on?! We just got back from the doc's and he said S didn't need antiB's (and I agree with him) cos he's not got a temp, he's happy enough and he's not chesty/no throat inflammation but he was happy to prescribe them had S needed them. Is L still crying/unhappy or has he settled down now?

memphis83 · 15/12/2010 14:12

hes grizzly but not screaming, it didnt help that L was smiling charming the pants off the whole surgery while we were there, oooh you seem like a good mummy to be able to get him to be so smiley when hes so swollen up??!! WTF no love thats called Calpol!!

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 15/12/2010 15:30

??????? memphis. That's all I'm going to say. Hope he gets better quickly. If he doesn't get better take him back and demand a sensible different doctor.

Man alive! My eldest is so grumpy when he wakes from a nap. I took the opportunity for the first time in 3 or 4 months to make him go get him to sleep this afternoon and as ds2 did too I got half an hour in bed. Now they're both up, whinging for Britain! Wish I'd never bothered, haha! Hopefully Mr Tumble will amuse him for a while so I get get the tea ready.

Yea but tsc for the doctor to say 'he has an infection but babies this age don't need antiB's ' is a bit thick don't you think? And that person probably saw you when you were 8 months pregnant. My great-gran once said that to my mum after she'd had my oldest brother and she said 'well, I have had a baby since you last saw me' Hmm

memphis83 · 15/12/2010 17:24

im going back in a few days if hes no better, he doesnt want to sleep, eat nothing! but on the plus side he has sat in his high chair for an hour while i make a start on all my sewing!! he was very happy then he remembered he is supposed to be ill!

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 15/12/2010 17:27

Is Dylan having a growth spurt? Wants to feed every hour or so and had quite a long sleep earlier, hes def had more sleep today than usual.

Hes not just grizzling and then fed to shut him up quiet him down, he's really raving mad and screaming and actual tears!

DylthanThroughTheSnow · 15/12/2010 18:36

Bethan is back to just getting up twice on the night although Dylan decided to get up at 5:30 this morning Angry

Bethan has been crying all day today Sad I really don't think she's well it's horrible. Have dosed her up on calpol so she's currently dozing in dh arms.

Memphis so sorry L is not feeling well it really is heartbreaking to see them so poorly.

tsc is your washing machine still not sorted Angry what happened with trading standards?

mliff I always tumble dry my towels [guilty] I like them nice and fluffy Grin

crimbocakes YES! My nipples are being used as a teether tis horrible. And if it makes you feel any better I've just turned 25 and would need both hands and toes to count my grey hairs (even then I'd probably need extra hands and feet)

DylthanThroughTheSnow · 15/12/2010 18:42

Dh has just been in the news Xmas Grin it was only for a couple of seconds they were talking about the snow that is coming tomorrow and how well prepared they are. Dh was filmed loading up a gritter.

Is it really sad that we got sooo excited Xmas Grin

WinterChillita · 15/12/2010 18:51

sorry if I sounded abrupt tsc, didn't mean to :) :) Grin

dylthan that's not sad at all, very cool :) I'd be chuffed to see dh on tv too!

dh has D settled down at all yet? or still on a feeding frenzy?

stac is R any better?

So...this lunchtime we were supposed to be packing up to go and see the inlaws instead we had this:
Me: right so what bag are we going to use?
DH: I'm really horny
Me: Ok, so black or blue holdall
DH: I think we should have sex
Me: I think we should pack
DH: How about you wear some sexy underwear and look erotic while I get myself off
Me: I think we should just have sex
DH: Winner!
The children gave us just enough time and then were up so no packing for us...really, they do pick their moments don't they!?

kkfairybrains · 15/12/2010 20:04

Cakes i'm 25 and this is no exagerration-i have a full head of grey hair, bar about a centimetre thick of my natural colour on my front hairline. Hence the reason i'm so blonde ad i can get away with my colour for ages as the grey blends with the blonde!
memphis how is the little mister tonight?

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 15/12/2010 20:12

chillita lol thats what kids and years of being together does to men, they dont even try to get us in the mood anymore, its just 'im horny' Grin

Well D is asleep now in his bouncy chair, maybe he was just having a clingy day, I guess Ill find out tomoro if he is the same.
