Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

mliff I had a feeling I might have an early riser on my hands, obv he takes after his dad.
Well in that case his dad can get up with him!

cakes hope its not mastitis :( feed feed feed!

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 13/12/2010 11:10

cake just take him in! They can deal with the food / nap mess up, they'll be used to it with other kids I'm sure. You'll feel better if you can take it easy if you're poorly

CrimboCakeandRoses · 13/12/2010 11:45

dh - A is useless for mastitis (think its why i keep getting it with her) as she'll only feed every 2-3 hours for ten mins. No more. Don't feel like i've got mastitis yet so am hoping i can work the lump out myself in time.

mlic i've got him down for a nap so i'll see how we all are once he wakes up. dh has offered to take him to nursery for me if needs be so at least that'll be easier.

i've not had many tummy upsets in my life so unsure of whether they calm down after initial nightmare. I'm off my food, so surely it has to?

CrimboCakeandRoses · 13/12/2010 12:02

aaarghh - can't send him to nursery - he's now on 4th pooey nappy today so obviously not better himself (and they'd just send him home again)

both are now asleep so will try to have a quick nap - everything might seem better when i awake

sorry for thread monopolisation

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 13/12/2010 12:11

monopolise away :)

CrimboCakeandRoses · 13/12/2010 12:41

well that was a quick nap... nothing any better but hey ho

trudyla all ok there? you been a bit quiet. Ditto *needle

mlic still nothing from them? Sad

Chulita · 13/12/2010 14:13

cakes DH gets tummy bugs all the time and he deals with it by drinking shedloads of water, even if he doesn't feel like it, interspersed with the odd glass of dioralyte. He starts eating toast once he feels less ill and is usually alright (if a bit shaky) after a couple of days.
mlic we turned DD's door handle upside down so she has to lift it to open it iyswim, it stopped her running around but it's still easy for us to get in and out.
dh he may well settle down, DD was always up at the crack of dawn but now she sometimes sleep til 8am, usually she's up at 7.30 these days.
And for those of you with tricksy babies, DD was a freaking nightmare baby til about 10 months but she's the most well-behaved 2 year old now. Sam looks like he's following in her nightmarish ways so hopefully he'll be angelic when he's older!

Chulita · 13/12/2010 14:16

mlic fwiw DD got very little from the family for her birthday, and most of my family haven't met Sam yet. DH's older sister still hasn't even met DD but to be fair we've all got lives to live so I don't blame them for not dropping everything to phone.

Chulita · 13/12/2010 14:18

And S has a stonking cold bless his little bootees, all snots/red rimmed eyes/tears...hoping he shifts it quickly though, we're off to the dreaded inlaws on wednesday!

Trudyla · 13/12/2010 15:02

I'm still here. Just struck down by tummy bugs / food poisening (not sure) and DP's lumbago and a not sleeping baby. She doesn't sleep day or night but has developed a new ear piercing squeal/scream.

Me and the cat are NOT amused. Wish I could hide on top of the wardrobe like her.

Thinking about all you poorly ones. Hope everyone's feeling better soon.

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 13/12/2010 15:32

cakes Dylan is the same, rarely feeds longer than 10 mins unless its the eve then he feeds for about 3hours!

Cake hope both F and A are getting better. Oh and loads of fluids for your tummy upset (mmmmm, flat lemonade and salty crisps sounds good too)

dh yes I'm afraid lots of kids don't go back to sleep after about 6am. Getting up before 6 I still regard as early. After 6 is just normal to me now. Both dd1 and dd2 wake up between 6 and 7 and I've had plenty of 5ish starts over the last 3 years! There was a very brief time when I was pg with dd2 when dd1 was sleeping till 7.15 or 7.30 - it was wonderful. Didn't last long though Grin.

tsc you must be permanently knackered, having to stay up so late to get F to sleep. I can barely make it to 9.30pm and I'm tired enough so God knows how you're feeling.

Not much to report from here., Raining today after some very hot and humid nights. G's second night in her own room went almost exactly the same as her first i.e she woke at 11, 2 and 5, not too bad for her.

What is everyone doing for Christmas? Staying at home or going to family? We will be at home, just us and the kids in the morning, possibly a few friends coming over in afternoon. It's pretty laid back over here - barbecue and beers rather than full turkey dinner.

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 13/12/2010 20:06

cake how you doing mrs?

Got a card from bil tonight, shoved through the door. He lives about 60 miles away so must have been visiting the mil - why couldn't he have just posted it to him? Still waiting for sil's though. It's the principle chulita for me, we don't have a massive family and I think it's only courteous that cards are sent. I don't expect a present. I do however expect a card. Good job that at 2yo he hasn't realised. But I have. And their cards are marked, excuse the pun Wink.

All these poorly people / babies! Hope everyone's better soon.

Christmas for us will be quiet wss (like I say, not a big family) so me, dh and the boys are taking dh's aunt over to my mam and dad's for Christmas. Haven't broached the subject yet but hoping dh will drive so I can have a drink! He'll no doubt be going out Christmas Eve anyway so it's only fair. If he's anything like last year he'll be too ill to have a drink Christmas Day anyway! Mam's doing chicken and goose and all the trimmings. My contributions are the cauliflower cheese, the onion gravy, the pavlova and the cheese board.

memphis83 · 13/12/2010 20:15

oooh mlic can i come....pavlova, thats one thing i cant master! ive ordered my rolled turkey crown to feed the 5000, im making trifle, key lime pie and malteser cheesecake for xmas day! i want some rings so i can make individual cheesecakes but i cant find them unless i want to spent £5 on eack and i want over 10!!
sorry to hear so many poorly babies on the thread! L has just gone off after screaming with his teeth thank god for dh i had a panic attack as i couldnt calm him, what would i do if i had a baby that cried a lot!

CrimboCakeandRoses · 13/12/2010 20:18

hello all

thank you for your suggestions and concern - no grapes or flowers tho i noticed Wink

my hero of a dh managed to come back early and took evil boy ds out for a walk. Came back saying 'he is bloody awful today, he's driven me totally mad' (which made me feel somewhat vindicated for not coping earlier)

my tummy seems to have settled down as the day has worn on but is now feeling/sounding like trouble is on the way again.

hopefully this bug's short-lived so will make the most of lemonade and crisps while it lasts Grin

no mastitis yet, am working on the lump in my left boob like a dog with a bone

catch up properly with everyone tomo. hope everyone else who's ill feels better soon.

WhatSheSaid · 13/12/2010 20:40

memphis malteser cheesecake sounds good, how do you make it?

I am trying to watch United-Arsenal on TV but my 3 year old wants to watch kids tv instead - who'd have thought? Grin

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 13/12/2010 20:41

Get better soon cakes makes you feel miserable when you're ill eh?

Good luck tsc getting F down, Dylan is dozing on the boob at the mo.

Hoping he goes to bed early-ish as DP and I want 'relations' again!
The addicts fans that we are!

Chulita · 13/12/2010 20:45

cakes no flowers or grapes out of concern for you - grapes are too acidic for a dodgy tummy and flowers are erm...too smelly
memphis did you mention a page or so back that you'd like another baby? :) or did I misread?

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 13/12/2010 20:49

The trick is to cool it really slowly *memphis. I use golden caster sugar so it looks much prettier than the stark whiteness and you need to let it cool, in the oven but with the door open for about 40 minutes.

I do make a mean pavlova I have to say Grin

Glad you're feeling a bit better cake. I'd got you some grapes but E ate them all. Gutted, they were M&S ones and everything Wink

dh I don't know where you get the energy from! 5 days away with the baby in another room for the first time in his life and we didn't even do it once, haha!

Chulita · 13/12/2010 21:19

kkfairybrains are you still doing the Shred? Blush DH and I managed 5 days...but after we get back from the inlaws we're going to start doing it properly. I found I was soooo tired after a crap night's sleep followed by full-on toddler/baby all day I just didn't have the energy come evening.

memphis83 · 13/12/2010 21:26

mlic thats my problem im impatient, it took me years to fry an egg i tried cooking them too quickly so i try and cool everything quick! will attempt one after xmas got too much on at the moment, making bunting for gifts, and making a santa sack for L with embroidered names on it!
chulita i have mentioned that sometime in the future i might consider a sibling for L never thought i would but he is so lovely i want him to have someone when im old and crazy to help pick my old peoples home!! but at the moment im trying to get dh to agree to a puppy in the new year, he doesnt think i would cope with baby, house dog etc, our dog died unexpectedly before L arrived so i would have to manage if i sadly didnt lose him! Grin
cakes would have sent you grapes but if you have had a problem with running to the toilet i didnt think grapes would be on your list of wants!! Grin

memphis that's so cool that L's been such a positive experience that you want to do it again Grin I remember you saying at around 8 months pregnant that you were only planning the one so L must be extra special to have changed your mind! I'd like to make bunting for the children's room but not sure if I'm good enough with the sewing machine to make it look decent.

Chulita · 13/12/2010 21:33

Grin tsc no, I meant the Shred dvd thing that's doing the rounds. The fondant comment was just to create a contrast between 'shredding' and just plain old gaining weight but obviously threw off the balance of the sentence. 'twas a lovely pud though. DH would quite happily have a good screw every day for 5 days but he's not the one up all night feeding...
