Aww cunty am quite touched at you thinking the cramps were me... I would probably not post about that you know, but just soldier on. No, no, the cramps are all on Missy's side. I tried the Tiger in the tree position last night (based on your educational photo in t'other place) and a warm hot water bottle on the stomach. Both of these seemed to relieve her a bit, confirming my suspicion of cramps and wind. Poor thing. Glad to hear one nappy a day could just be the new normal. It was always more before and I suppose I have been associating the pains she seems to be having with the lack of dirty nappies... Well, I will keep an eye on it. I got her some colic drops in the chemist. It is homeopathy, so it can't do any harm anyway. We have pretty much escaped this so far, so it is really hard to see her upset and cross and in pain.

Thanks for the tips on warming the milk - I hadn't realised it wasn't even strictly necessary. I'll take the chill off it and then we'll just have to see how it goes. Feeling a bit nervous about it for some odd reason. I am keen to have the freedom of being able to leave a bottle with boyfy and go off for a bit, but wondering am I also feeling weird about giving up the feeding exclusivity? Dunno. Anyway, fingers crossed.

Silv late afternoon to late evening sounds doable, especially with a trip out in the middle to break it up. I sympathise tho': boyfy had to go on a work trip already and it was a loooooong 48 hrs... I don't have family nearby either, so I know it's not easy. Try to get MB to go down in the evening so you can at least chill out in front of the telly with some wine or something to round off the day. Good news about the ear by the way! I am pretty sure they said to us in the hospital that her ears could go in the bath - did not realise that could cause problems.

The FAS thread was pretty interesting I thought - though that poor OP has really got her head in a mess. If you read the net about alcohol and pregnancy you end up terrified, as it is all these hardline American websites that aim purely to fear-monger. Mind you, I was still a little surprised though when the homeopathic relaxation remedy proscribed by my midwife turned out to bear an uncanny resemblance to, um, sherry. Yup, that's the stuff to relax you alright.Grin

OkieCokie · 21/12/2010 16:20

Wit like t'others say just wang the bottle in a vat of hot water for a bit to get it to about body temp - there is no exact science, just don't make it too hot! If you feel the temp of it when it comes out then this is what you are aiming for.

So, got to Sainsburys at 8.45 this morning and it was a breeze - was in Starbucks by 9.55 with my shopping in the boot. The Okie household is ready for Christmas except the bird is still running about somewhere on a farm in Yorkshire but should be arriving down the M1 with the folks tomorrow.

Peppa no longer likes to get the kips in lying on my chest. I am most Sad by this.

I had 6 week check today and healing pretty well. My arse is not so good though as I have a pain there which I have had since about 4 weeks pre birth but they can't figure out what it is - going to see someone else about it in January. Apparently only 1 in 300 have births as quick as I did . I saw a little 5 day old baby at the hospital and Peppa looks huge in comparison! She is only 5 and a bit weeks, I really don't want her to get big.

What is everyone doing for contraception now? Obv this Q does not apply to alps

AlpinePony · 21/12/2010 16:29

okie Not sure it applies to you either given that your arse HURTS! Grin

Alps are you suggesting I beat Hom off with his own stick? Insult to injury surely? Grin

SilverSky · 21/12/2010 17:31

Abstisnence my gal abstinence!!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 21/12/2010 18:09

. Adding injury to injury surely...

We have lift off with the bottle feed - thx for all the advice! Boyfy just managed to get her to take about 80 ml which was bloody good for a first go I reckon. Hoping she'll have a nap now and then I'll feed her the last feed later.

okie I sent MrP to the vet local hospital for the snip within weeks of Clyde's appearance. Although we are still using condoms as we stupidly forgot that the results from his 'all clear' spunk test would be sent to our old address while we are on the other side of the world.Hmm Doh!

Yes we are having a lovely time over here though it all seems a bit rushed. Bonnie insists on sleeping in a bed now but the poor thing has fallen out 15+ times (I stopped counting after 10).

Clyde has now learned to sit up on his own! I can even leave him sitting and leave the room knowing he won't topple over.* With PFB Bonnie I would surround her with pillows and hover in case she wobbled slightly.

Last night we had to delay putting the kids to bed as their rooms were still 28 degrees at 7pm! Some relief today as apparently it's only a high of 27, but friggin 96% humidity.Confused I'm over it.

Now panicking about our flight into Heathrow next week. And our cars parked in the Heathrow long term park, presumably now frozen solid under 10 ft of snow? I'm liking the idea of some winter snow, but could you please arrange a slight thaw before my return? Many thanks, much appreciated.

*Or at least knowing that falling flat on his face isn't actually going to harm him much.Wink

OkieCokie · 21/12/2010 21:52

FP Mr C has offered to get the snip but I am not totally sure I want to stop at 2 so I am putting him off. He is against the idea of more children.

Glad Bonnie is in a bed. We need to tackle the bed issue inthe New Year but mini Okes is being a monkey in the night ATM so probably not the best time to impose yet another change.

FannyPriceless · 21/12/2010 22:21

okes Are you really contemplating adding more complication and mayhem, and you have two with a similar age gap as us? You must be crayzeee.

Mind you, talk about imposing multiple changes - we are doing the worst possible on that front with all this travel and moving house lark. I do think it's affecting Bonnie. e.g. she has gone back to asking for milk in a 'white bottle' i.e. baby bottle. Sh'e also reverted to waking in the night. [bags under eyes emoticon] She seems to need more comfort and reassurance from us at the moment, and frankly I don't blame her.

Backinthebox · 21/12/2010 22:21

Hello all, have been very very busy with LG, TT's nativity play and Christmas parties (I have no social life so rely on my daughter's - how sad!) new horse and a flying visit from my prodigal brother. Time is flying by!

Good to hear from FP - hope life on the other side of the world is OK. TT fell out of bed lots when she first moved to a toddler bed, but we put her in a normal 3' single and she stopped falling out. Mostly.

LG is being very lovely atm. He is going to grow up into a great big flirt - he always has smiles for the ladies. Except for Clucky. For reasons unknown he just wails whenever she is round. Nothing to do with her, I'm sure, she just calls round at 'that' time of day. He is generally being a lot easier to deal with than TT at the same age. He wails much less. However, TT was a much easier baby to feed (LG seems to like to flash my nips to all and sundry. he is terrified he misses something,) and TT was also sleeping in her own cot at this stage. LG is not happy on a night unless he has his face wedged in my bosom. We might have to work on that a bit!

TT has been coming out with some very funny lines (in between some amazingly enormous tantrums and strops.) Particularly memorable are the following conversations:

TT: 'Nana, I got you a Christmas present. It's a cup. I painted it......' Surprise element completely gone.

TT: 'Mummy, I have a hairy bum just like you. We are girls! But my hair is only small.' Confused

At the carol service, just as the words from 'Once in Royal David's City' which go 'Christian children all must be mild, obedient, good as He,' were sung TT yelled 'I want to go to the pub with Daddy!' at the top of her voice. Blush Imagine the looks.

But very sweetly she has also been saying 'I LIKE my brother' a lot too.

And on the horsey front, those who predicted I'd be back hunting before Christmas were correct! having not ridden properly in 18 months (I was mostly a passenger on Big Horse,) I took my new 4 year old neddy who I have owned for only 3 weeks out, and was over the moon with him. The snow has interrupted progress there, but there's no rush. On the plus side, having a horse to do means my weight is coming off again after a bit of a hiatus in the weight loss.

Just got to say Okie I was a bit Sad when TT didn't want to sleep on me any more. LG never wanted to sleep ON me, and I was Sad about that. But here at 15 weeks he still likes to sleep with his wedged wedged against my boobies. What kind of a bloke is her going to grow up to be?! Confused

Backinthebox · 21/12/2010 22:24

HEAD wedged. Still incoherent. Blush

Backinthebox · 21/12/2010 22:26

PS, Ski you are nuts. Shock 2 in nappies? Hmm

FannyPriceless · 22/12/2010 00:09

box Then I am also nuts.Blush Bonnie still in nappies with no sign of wanting out. (And that's one change that can wait until we are settled in our own house!)

Well done on the hunting! Is this 4 year old the dun you were looking at? Or am I mixed up? Presume you are not hunting the racehorse. Or are you?

Clyde has a habit of grabbing my boob with both hands and shoving his face straight in. I am trying desperately not to equate this to any future antics.Confused

AlpinePony · 22/12/2010 05:31

fanny 10 foot? Take it all with a pinch of salt my love - the English currently seem to be confused between the units of measurement inches versus feet! Wink Most of 'em wouldn't know 3' if they fell in to it. Hmm I think the worst I've seen is on a skiing forum where someone who lives in Nottingham claims there was 2' in the city centre! Twats. You've got a 4WD haven't you? No problem.

boxer I can't think of anything nicer than having the children close in age - get all the short nights over and done with in one fell swoop rather than awaiting normality to return only to fuck it up again! Wink That aside, it took me a long time to successfully conceive last time so I'm not going to wait until the "ideal" time and then watch the months slipping by as I slip in to donor egg from Romania territory!

Backinthebox · 22/12/2010 09:10

Ski I can see where you are coming from with the timing. Needs must and all that. Good luck though! And if you are successful, even more good luck! Shock Grin

FP yes, it is the 4yo dun. He is lovely, if a bit on the green side. But you can't have everything.

Cosmosis · 22/12/2010 09:18

Contraception, condoms, except actually it's not wanting to have sex Xmas Grin

FP I miss you and I can't believe you're not comeing back here, sob. Clever Clyde for sitting up! Understandable that Bonnie needs some reassurance atm, it's all change isn't it.

Artie still does all his at home daytime naps on me, infact he is asleep on me at the moment, his hand on my boobie, awww.

Re children close in age, I think we will be ttc again from the summer, TGO made some coment the other day about me being diffed again next christmas.
