Sorry about the rough nights Okie and Moo. Hope you manage to get some shut-eye soon.

And thanks Moo for your advice. TG has made it out of the village today - he's taken Boo over to MILs. I think the lanes around us are dicey but once you get to the main roads they are clear so I'm not panicking about the midwife being unable to get here.

We've been talking this morning and we both still very much want a homebirth, as long as it doesn't pose any danger to me or the shrimp. The best plan I reckon is just to be open to whatever happens and go with it - we'll probably make a call on it when I go into labour, unless BP shoots up this week and matters get taken out of my hands. As much as I'd like the baybee out this week it might not happen, maybe not even until early Jan. I think they'd let me go until around 3 or 4 Jan before inducing. I've no idea what will happen with weather, blood pressure etc during that time. It is vey hard as a Virgo not being able to plan, but I'm just trying to go with the flow instead. At least Christmas is a nice distraction.

Anyway, I'm blathering. Not sure if any of that made sense! Think I will curl up now and have a little snooze while the house is peaceful!

AlpinePony · 19/12/2010 19:36

I have had xmas today - opened billions of presents for Bear - his stuffed animal collection could give Noah a run for his money! Grin He has a walking, talking Elmo which tells stories, an enormous Iggle Piggle which also tells stories, a Bob The Builder which does a dance & song and a rocking horse which neighs, does "clippety clop" and its tail swishes. The pitbull is terrified of all. I cooked an absolutely excellent salmon brunch and roast for dinner. MIL has been lovely.

Have just looked at airport website - flights cancelled. HmmShockGrin She's lovely but pls to be flying home tomorrow? :( She's supposed to be flying home from Germany and we've had about 8-12 inches this afternoon, but I can't see the Germans fucking around and hopefully it'll be cleared tomorrow.

honey I'm not sure you're supposed to take the tablets, but you can put the cream on your nips.

Got my annual appraisal tomorrow - not sure what they're going to say "pregnant, had a baybee, pls to have pay-rise?".

Your xmas sounds LOVELY! I am not prepared at all. Have not bought one present, or sent one xmas card. How shit is that. Need to sort out this week ASAP. Parents coming on Tuesday evening for xmas so hopefully I can palm off all the housework/boring jobs on to them and I can chill out a bit.

Polly I hope it didn't sound like I thought you shouldn't have a HB but more that I wouldn't want you to be overly disappoiinted if you couldn't and that you CAN have a good birth in hospital too. I'm a virgo and I know exactly how you feel!!!

rollerbaby · 19/12/2010 20:52

PS do you wake your babies for last feed or wait for them to wake up as late as poss?

SilverSky · 19/12/2010 21:09

I was waking him at about 11pm ish and then he'd sleep til 5am. However last night unwanted to see how long he'd go. He went down at 9 and woke me at 3 then woke me again about 630 so nay bad, cos even when he was waking at 5 he'd be awake again about 6/7 anyway.

We still have presents to get and hope to get out soon. Just bit scared of driving in these conditions.

HI is working Boxing Day so it's gonna be me and MB and the dawg.

Today we met some new neighbours. Invited us over for drinks and mince pies. MB wore he Santa's Little Helper outfit. Totally cute.

BTW Huggies are shit. Literally. Every time I've changed his bum I've had to change his bloody clothes!!

rollerbaby · 19/12/2010 21:20

That is really good Silv! I will pray for a night like that. I'm getting a late feed anywhere between 10 and midnight and then somewhere around 2 and again about 4. I don't understand how they say once over a certain weight they'll sleep through. He's probably just over a stone now and there's very little sign of a solid night's slumber.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as good nappy. The newbon huggies do seem better than active fit though. Another question - are there specific nappies for nights? Is that what Pampers Babydry is for? Would I be better off having two types?

PollyPoo · 19/12/2010 21:34

Don't worry, I didn't think that Moo. I know what you mean. I am trying to focus on safe delivery of baybee regardless of circumstancelocation/setting etc. Although having watched the countryfile weekly weather forecast this evening I am clamping my legs firmly shut for the foreseeable future. Basically we can expect more snow, ice and arctic conditions for the next week. There will be no more nipple tweaking, ball bouncing, secks, pineapple or curry until after Christmas. Or until I get bored of waiting... Hmm Why oh why does it have to be so fucking cold and snowy NOW? Why did I think it would be great to have a christmas baybee?

re: nappies, we always got on ok with huggies but generally just used supermarket own brand ones. Never had a problem with them. Hated pampers though, leaked more than any other brand!

OkieCokie · 19/12/2010 22:02

I guess nappies just depend on your child then. Pampers Baby Dry are what we use and we use day and night.

Just had mini okes shouting for Mummy again and feared it was a repeat of last night antics. Eventually went up to see what all the fuss he was making was about and he was covered in sick, as was his cot and all his fury animals he shares a cot with. I feel so bad for not going in straight away Sad

PollyPoo · 19/12/2010 22:05

Aw poor MiniO. We had the same thing a couple of weeks ago. You have my sympathies Okes.

OkieCokie · 19/12/2010 22:08

Thanks Pol. Had a family trip out to town and Mr C took him to see Peppa Pig live. Think it was combination of the excitment, being overtired and the stress of Regent Street the Sunday before Christmas that probably tipped him over the edge!

PollyPoo · 19/12/2010 22:12

Aw bless him - at least he had a brilliant day leading up to the puke!

AlpinePony · 20/12/2010 07:31

Oh okie - good try but I fear you'll not wrench the Bad Mummy crown from cunty any time soon! Wink More washing for you though... :(

I gave myself a fright in the night - brought Bear in to our bed at midnight as he was restless - woke a couple of hours later and the little sod was asleep on his tummy. Naturally I assumed he was DEID and my heart stopped. Rolled him rather too quickly on to his back and realised he was still alive. He rolled back on to his tummy 5 minutes later - I rolled him back, etc., etc. I salute you cunty - you must have nerves of steel!

moo - Bear goes to bed at around 7pm, I get him up at 10 - by the time he's come from bedroom to living room he's sort of awake, bottle tends to make him fall back asleep and it's back to bed where he'll sleep through 'til 6ish. We had the same thing as silver though, if we put him down at 7, he'd wake at 3 - 8 hours seems to be his max right now. We're using Lidl nappies and the only time we've had a leak was i) nappy on for the course of 3 bottles (to be expected) and ii) ginopoo - where mummy hadn't realised and bounced him up and down on her knee for 5 minutes. CluckyKate · 20/12/2010 08:36

We used Baby Dry at night time - LC saved all her poos for daytime so they lasted through the night with no leaks - and Active Fit in the day.

Have to say I never, ever woke her up for a feed - HV told me I should because she fell below the sacred 50th centile but I felt that she was getting plenty and was healthy, happy, v. active and didn't want to jinx her sleeping by disturbing her. Some nights she woke up at 11ish and again at 3ish, other nights she slept until 2ish and had just the one night time feed. There was no sleeping through until she was on 3 solid meals a day.
Anyway, that was what worked for my baby....am hoping the next one is the same

Cosmosis · 20/12/2010 09:05

ha ha ha at waking to feed. Artie's longest sleep is 8 -11/11.30. He wakes on his own for feed and then the sleeps get progressively shorter through the night. down to 1.5 hrs last night. Thankfully he settles back down v well now. TGO did point out though, he used to go longer and he used to have both boobies, for the last week he has fallen asleep after one side, which is prob why he's only going a short time. Tonight I will wake him up and force other side upon him to see if this helps.

fan lovely to hear from you. I've been meaning to point out that indigo baby thing for weeks!

For those with baybees on solids, a friend was recommending porridge before bed to get them to sleep through.

SilverSky · 20/12/2010 10:44

AIBU to be upset about spending Boxing Day on my tod? I thought I would be ok with it. But I am not.

MB had an exploding nappy yday and have had to wash his bouncy chair cover so I have had to put him on the sofa. He's finally dropped off to sleep.

Woke up with my right boob decanting. My pad had moved and I was soaked. I couldn't remember which boob to feed from as I give one boob per feed. So I figured it must be the right one! My right is bigger than my left tho I believe this is normal!

Last night MB slept from 9-1130 and then woke at 330, then I changed him and cos he wee'd everywhere incl over himself it took ages to sort him. He finally wasted and went back down at 430. But I didn't swaddle him tight enough so he started grumbling. Cue get out of bed again, reswaddle and put down again! He then woke up at 8 this morning. So not too bad.

He is still cluster feeding. HV said it's cos of his cold and he will be dehydrated so to feed when he wants. Tho when we are out and about he'll got four hourly. So if he is asleep I'll wake him 3hrly and that seems to work. Like you moo MB is sposed to be of a weight now where he can go longer between feeds. Clearly this is blatant lies different for every baybee.

I hate the snow. Stress city.

Our boiler pipe keeps leaking water cos it's frozen outside.

CurlyCasper · 20/12/2010 12:06

my girl still feeds every three hours in the day and i'm not going to try to push it, now she's really screaming for it when the three hours are up. We've ditched the EASY routine. And now she naps after feeds, but doesn't fall asleep while eating. It seems to be working and gives me solid blocks of awake and asleep times so I can plan my day. Teething monster keeps rearing ugly head at some point each day, but otherwise she's been great last couple of days. Didn't hear a peep from her all last night except a bit of a battle with a stuffy nose from 5 to 6am.

I do 10pm and 6am as dream feeds where poss. At 10 i just lift her, tuck a muslin under her chin and she sinks 4-5 ounces in miinutes. We then have snuggles as i burp her, then straight back down. All in near darkness in the bedroom.

Great to hear from you fanny. Can't wait to meet in new year.

P.s. Bickiepegs teething biscuits are the biz.

silv yanbu at all. Sff working overnight xmas eve to xmas day, but at least my parents will be here. He's got to do xmas day 2011 and i have no idea what i'll do.

Sorry all, shit at catching up via phone and i've got soooooo much to sort before weekend.

My PS just landed in wrong place.

SilverSky · 20/12/2010 12:53

MB has a crusty ear with yellow gunk. Nice. Can't get to Drs as HI has the car. Balls.

HI pointed out the soft spot on MBs head and mentioned it pulsates. I've never noticed before! Anyone else with this!?

Curls I wonder If the snots MB has had are ear related?

AlpinePony · 20/12/2010 13:44

Funny story from the coalface today. Colleague's parents are getting on a bit and have a foot of snow. Rest of family have "banned" them from going outside because they're 100% guaranteed to take a dive and break a hip. Instead "stay inside & play with the grandkids". (Grand)Father holds up little grandaughter, falls on lego, breaks his ankle. Colleague spends all day at hospital getting it fixed. Takes father home, re-iterates "you two do not leave the house". Goes home, decides to go out for a few beers with friends. Just enjoying his first drink when he's called back to the parental home. Father decided to help in the kitchen, slipped on gammy foot and fell on TOP of mother - breaking her wrist. So he spent all night in hospital with his mum. He now has two incapacitated parents to take care of! Grin A comedy of disaster.

Aw, poor MB. Silv can you get a doctor out?

PollyPoo · 20/12/2010 13:57

That is bloody funny pone. Grin

OkieCokie · 20/12/2010 14:06

That is well funny Alps

CUNextTuesday · 20/12/2010 14:23

lol alps

ref sleeping on front - now you are a sensible girl, I know this. Just because a kiddie sleeps on his front does not mean that death stalks the room. Bear is quite old enough to lift and turn his head. Stop being so silly.

SilverSky · 20/12/2010 15:33

Ponio NOW that made me larf! Which is what I need as feeling bit blue.

polly not sure his ear would warrant a Drs visit would it? Will call HV again. Bit like MWs never bloody available.

Cosmosis · 20/12/2010 15:57

ha ha re colleague! Being at home is v dangerous. Fackt.

PollyPoo · 20/12/2010 16:07

Not sure Silv but might be worth at least talking to doc? Sounds like MB could do with some antibiotics to clear that up, poor little love. Did you get any joy with the HV?

I've just been having a snowball fight in the garden with Boo. I suppose the correct thing to do would have been to let her win? Still, she seems relatively unharmed and quite happy.
