Silv we have just bought Baby Bjoern Bouncer and Peppa seems to like it. I also have a DooMoo bean bag thing which she loves and sleeps quite happily on. I have never really got into the vibrating chairs as I feared he/she would always need vibrations to sleep.

moo getting out and about is a great tonic I think especailly on nice sunny days like today. I hope you and Silv feel better soon.

I must say I think I am pretty lucky with my fella. He does a fair amount around the house and I clearly have trained him well. As long as he gets plenty of sleep he functions quite well and is a great help. 2 days after Peppa was born I left him to sleep in until midday. Some may think this was a bit weird as it should have been me sleeping but I knew he would be a lot more useful to me if he caught up on sleep - he had been awake most of the previous 3 nights also and sure enough he was great. We pretty much spilt the cooking and cleaning and he is generally very good at seeing what needs to be done (I never ever empty bins including the nappy bin). He knows that ensuring 2 kids are fed, watered and clean is pretty much a full on job in itself. However, I do think a lot of this is due to me leaving him alone with 1 and at times 2 children and he knows it is hard work. I have a friend who left her husband alone with both kids for the first time yesterday to go to the cinema - her kids are 1 and 3 and it was the first time he had had them on his own! I don't mean to sound all smug and believe me we have our moments but I do think a few strong words help to lay down the rules and no one wins anything for being a superwoman.

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 15:48

My next tactic is to leave MB with him unsupervised. As his solution to a full on screaming session is to hand him back to me saying he's hungry. Screaming solved.

okie like you I let HI lie in and i got up with MB.

My pals said to me that as tempting as it is to do everything - dont. Otherwise its only you that suffers/bears the brunt.

CUNextTuesday · 05/12/2010 15:51

Yeah silv Hom does that - he can only be crying because he's hungry, which absolves him of all responsibility for making the crying stop. Hey there's no flies on them is there!!

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 15:53

The only sleeping on you is a pain esp in the night if you dont/cant co-sleep.

rollerbaby · 05/12/2010 17:46

So a friend of mine was due over earlier and I was hurriedly tidying up/sticking mince pies in the oven/feeding baby and getting him to nap in the hour leading up to her visit. She texts ne to say 20 mins away... And then ten minutes after she's due says they're not coming as they're at home and "settled" after being out so she's putting her little one to bed. Is it me or is that fucking rude and thoughtless. It took me ages to feed and put little one down so he wouldn't disturb their visit. Grrrrrrrrr. Totally out of synch now and no doubt he will have slept too much to sleep well tonight.

On the good side walked to our local shops. Kept checking he was breathing in the baby bjorn! Was nice to get out but quite a long walk considering I've dine fuck all in a month. Fanny feels like it's swollen up to five times the size which is always nice.

Can't believe how quickly the weekend has gone... Mr m back to work tomorrow boo. No one to boss about!

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 18:19

tues crafty delegating divs so they are.

moo I agree it is off esp if you have been sent a text to say 20mins away. Chances are that now you have a LO she prob thinks you'll understand. Selfish of her to not give consideration to you and your arrangements so that you can have her over.

Think you need a hot bath to soothe your fanjo!!

MsFC · 05/12/2010 19:06

Hello lovely FESHes! I'm popping in the spa for a quick product related question... We have an appointment with John Lewis next week for the 'big shop'. Ooh, scary...

Nursing chairs.... They seem like a lot of money for a fairly ugly piece of furniture, are they worth it? I'm tempted to buy a nicer chair that we can at least bring down to the lounge to use or just a Poang chair from Ikea. What have you all done? Any advice VERY gratefully received...

PollyPoo · 05/12/2010 20:11

MrsFC I got a nursing chair from here. They tend to be a lot cheaper and I'm planning on flogging it on ebay afterwards. Bloody ugly things but they are sooo comfortable.

CluckyKate · 05/12/2010 20:19

MrsFC we bought a Dutailier one on eBay when I was expecting LC....is OK but I found it quite difficult to feed in as the arms were not quite the right height. We now use it for bedtime stories but is a bit of a squeeze for both of us. I reckon your dosh is better spent on a more comfy (and attractive) chair.

Grrr at the annoying friend Moo - she should know better.

You is right Silv - inability to drive would've driven me bonkers and getting to the yard every day kept me sane and got LC into a brilliant daytime routine.
As for the bouncy chairs....suspect the avoiding prolonged sleeps is due to positioning. Tha same is said of car seats. Having said that LC had her best sleeps in the car while I did mucking-out & coffees with the yard-owner - was OK as the baby monitor worked at 500m [bad mother emoticon] Xmas Grin

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 20:20

We didnt bother as no room indoors. Found plenty of cushions on the sofa/bed did the trick.

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 20:24

Kate this bouncy chair is a reclining one which can be adjusted and we have it at its flattest. HV liked it and said it would help MB with his snots and draining etc.

It saves us bringing the Moses basket downstairs everyday but as from tomorrow I will start bringing it down again as my conscience is getting the better of me.

I am hoping to be able to get into some sort of routine with the stables and shiz. My concern is actually being able to get out of the house in the morning so hoss actually gets turned out!

CUNextTuesday · 05/12/2010 20:39

We didn't get a nursing chair but I tried out one of these and it was comfy and lush and I really wish I had one.

CluckyKate · 05/12/2010 20:45

I wouldn't worry about the bouncer warning Silv - MB will let you know if he gets uncomfortable. I reckon they put these warnings on for the same cretins that don't realise a bag of peanuts "contains nuts" Grin

Doing horsey stuff kinda forces you into a routine and once you get a system going it actually makes life a bit easier. You still need to be a bit flexible though, babies always puke/poo when they know you're running late. Just remember that Horse won't mind if he's turned out a little bit late.

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 20:52

Trooo troo CKOneTwoThree. Luckily Hoss is couch potato and as not much grass out in the field, Hoss will be fine waiting as long as hay in stable.

Just need to figure out the practicalities of leaving MB in the car or not as actual stable not in eyesight of car.

CluckyKate · 05/12/2010 20:53

Just to add MrsFC, get a chair with removable machine washable covers....sounds obvious dunnit but we didn't even consider it and our cream-coloured thing is impossible to clean (esp. if you are slovernly like me).

rollerbaby · 05/12/2010 20:56

Mrs FC I have a verh verh good recommendation from IKEA. I thought about a nursing chair like Dutailier and I think they are good for the purpose but like you a) didn't want to spend the cash for something so limited in it's life span. and also fucking ugly in my humble opinion. So I got the Ektorp armchair in white (ha ha ha) from IKEA and do you know what - it is the bizness. The arms are the perfect height, and as it is not huge you can sit right back and be supported and not need zillions of cushions. This is the most comfy place to feed in our house and also you can wash the covers easy peasy. Have a look at my FB pics - I think you can see it there. I'm going to stick it either in our room or spare room eventually. £170 not bad either.

CUNextTuesday · 05/12/2010 21:01

I saw a beautiful high-backed armchair in Bentalls in Kingston that I fancied as a feeding chair but it was 1200 sheets. Hom didn't go for it for some reason

OkieCokie · 05/12/2010 21:01

Moo that is well annoying. Grrrrr. Yes, rude and thoughtless esp as she had texted previously to say they were on the way. Sorry you foof is hurting. Rest up but I am pleased you got out. Shall we try and meet up this week?

MrsFC I didn't bother with feeding chair. I feel the same as you and that they are not particularly attractive. I just got an armchair from Ikea which does the job and looks pretty good too. I do the night feed(s) in bed propped up with cushions as I can't be arsed to move from bed to chair (which is not in our room anyway) and daytime feeds are on the sofa or at table while eating(!). I do agree that feeding chairs are comfy though.

CluckyKate · 05/12/2010 21:04

I was lucky because YO let me park right outside my stable. One of the dogs got very protective over LC and would sit and guard the car while she was in there.

I also used the BT100 baby monitor which was excellent - has 300m range outdoors and virtually zero inteference.

Guess it depends on how busy your place is and how happy you would be to leave MB alone & out of sight - is prob not for everyone. Anyway, you'll suss something out that will work for you....I'm sure of that Xmas Smile

CUNextTuesday · 05/12/2010 21:06

OK if you fancy a dirty BESH meet up, VAG, iggy and me are meeting on Clapham Common on Wednesday for a massive hot chocolate walk and a natter

rollerbaby · 05/12/2010 21:09

okie I am converted. Going out is the way forward. My mum is coming up on Tuesday/Weds to stay as Mr Moo has Tues night Interpol gig and then Xmas party on Weds. I AM SUCH A GOOD WIFE. Grrrrr. I am going down to locale shops tomorrow for def for a mooch as need BF tops - I look like a scrubber at the moment. Are you around at all? This is all caveated by the possibility my child may not sleep tonight as he slept so bloody much today I am terrified of the night ahead.

organiccarrotcake · 05/12/2010 21:18

Hi all,

Hope all is well and welcome new babes!

Apologies for jumping ship but RL got in the way (mostly a good thing).

OkieCokie · 05/12/2010 21:19

Moo I think you may be surprised - he could even sleep better tonight having had decent naps during the day and some fresh air. I used to think that was all bollocks but it seems better quality sleeps during the day can improve night sleeps too. I am around tomorrow morning or Tues afternoon.

Ooh a "hump Day" BESH meet? I would be up for that.

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 21:24

I still can't believe how much I love MB. More than anything else in the world. More than Monstermunch.

Moo I look like a right pikey. Super ruff.com.

tues wish I was closer to CC to stalk meet up.

rollerbaby · 05/12/2010 21:30

Cunty I live opposite that there park. Pleeze may I come too for hot drinks and baybee chat? I could even bring the dawg if I am brave enough. :)
