Hello all,
Red - Get well soon! Sorry you have all been ill.
Lippy - Number 3!!!! I too have found myself saying things like 'Oh I will find out the sex next time' etc etc and surprising myself . I must be mad. . Apparently from 2 to 3 is not the great shock of 1 to 2.
EYM - I hope the party was a success!
Charley - Just go for the yoga! Don't worry about what might happen, because it might not. You can always leave. I had a great yoga group in York that we all took the babies to. It was run by a midwife and if a baby cried and didn't want a feed etc she would take it for a cuddle and walk as she took the class. It was great. It followed on from my ante natal yoga. DD1 used to fall asleep in her Wilkinet all the time. It is lovely. Still too hot to try with dd2. We have a very vague routine in that we all get up at 7 am and the girls are bathed at 6.30 and in bed at 7 ish with a feed, but we make the rest up as the day goes by. DD2 is still demand fed and sleeps when she is tired. I do have a rule that we have to keep her awake after 5pm though or she won't go down at 7. That is as good as we have got so far. She tends to have a nap or two in the am and a bigger lunchtime sleep and maybe a short nap in the pm, but not always and the times vary.
Mandy - Aww at you missing dd. I felt like this with dd1. I had to make a HUGE effort to talk about something other than dd1 when I went out. It was v hard to do . I think my dh is very fit lol.
Mrs W - Thanks for that earth mother link. I got half way through so far and have been laughing very loudly (with recognition mostly). Glad you enjoyed the wedding and had a special day .
SFX - Glad dd settled. Sory to hear of your work associate. It is all very shocking and scary. My dsd had to go on the tube the week after and we were not comfortable at all, and neither was he and he is a very well travelled experienced man. He got a taxi for the return journey and we were all quite relieved so I can completely see your point.
Lynny - Are you there? Are you OK?
Lippy - What holiday house are you looking for? Where? Do you do house swaps?
Lua - How disappointing that the magic wheel has lost its magic. We had the same with dd's mobile. DD1 would stare at it for ages, at least the time it took for me to have a shower. DD2 is totally unimpressed. Luckily she has some cot toys that she does like and spends my shower time wiggling around changing ends in her cot.
Tea - Lol at dd's cardi munching and your wet arm . DD2 is dropping down a bit on the weight chart (to the 75th from 91st) but I asked them to do her length as I am sure she is long and lo and behold she is on the 98th centile for that. I know the charts shouldn't be taken too literally but I do find it interesting.
KVG - Don't think I haven't thought about the second pair of boots. Really can't spend that much though.....at least not all at once . I will def get a black posher pair if I am happy with these when they get back though as long as they can be reheeled etc. You paint a really cute picture of your dd.
Lummox - Introducing a bottle won't necessarily mean a good nights sleep, bit it could well be worth a try. I guess it depends if you want to carry on bfeeding or not, although lots of people manage mixed feeding of course. Four months already Where has the time gone? Sorry you are suffering from the lack of sleep. It is a nightmare isn't it. You have to do what is right for you and your circumstances of course. There is a point of desperation and you don't want to let it get that bad. It may well be worth trying with the bottle to see if it makes a difference as you can obviously do this without stopping bf if you don't want to. Hope you reach a decision. .
Trib - Glad your leak is sort of sorted. When do you move and go back to work? How is gorgeous ds and dh at the mo, and how are you?? Take care.
Bubb- Glad ds has taken to his boots and that they work with a grobag. This is good news indeed.
Charley - Make sure you apply for Child benefit and Tax credits soonish or you will lose out on money due to you. The Child beneift registration means your state pension is kept safe too (if there will be one when we are all that old ).
Phew - Sorry if I missed anyone.
I agree to a summary thread, especially as I am off on hold on Sat for a week and will miss out. I think a thread on here will be easiest and not create work for Trib. We could try to update at a weekend on by the Monday for the previous week or something, with a limit on lines each to make sure we keep this thread going as I for one will need my chat still .
Thank you for being so enthusiastic regarding my boots obsession. I have never spent this much money on any one item of clothing and so I am getting my full value for money by chatting about it loads too lol. Dh especially thinks that you have been very patient with me . Charley - Regarding the thick socks, for me to spend that much money these boots need to be PERFECT!!!
I am getting quite jealous of your meet ups. Remember I am back in the UK in January and will be very centrally located so count me in for meet ups from then. I wonder if I could do the north and south ones to make up lol.
To continue my self improvement I had my first bikini wax today followed by IPL treatment. It is no where near as painful as I had imagined... and on that note did anyone see the live vasectomy on This Morning???
I had a great night out last night taking dd2 with me. I win the medal hands down for the worst mother award as the meal went on for alot longer than I imagined and by the time I got home dd had been in her car seat for 5, yes FIVE hours . Needless to say she is fine and I have made sure she has been flat on her back for most of today .
Take care all

Cooperoo · 28/09/2005 19:43

Blimey - Sorry for the essay ladies . Award for longest ever post must be mine too!!

tribpot · 28/09/2005 20:43

Coop, hope you can touch-type as that post must have taken you an age I have heard that going from 2 to 3 is actually worse than from 1 to 2, but I will bow to the superior knowledge of some of our multiple mummies on here, I know my step-dad's policy (he has three kids and 2 step-kids!) is "never let them outnumber you", which sounds good to me.

We are off to Leeds at the start of November, I start work at the beginning of December. So actually northern clog-wearing ladies, a meet-up and clogfitting would be ideal sometime in November. (As I have relatives in Hebden Bridge I can supply authentic clogs).

Leak - well, it looks as if we are liable for the damage downstairs, harrumph. Will take some advice on that before agreeing to pay the insurance excess, esp as it might be £200. Plus we can't claim for the repair work up here, arrghh.

KVG - I always get my mail forwarded, but STILL nearly ended up with a CCJ once. When I moved to Sweden, I gave Scottish Power my new address for final bills, but never received anything, either to me directly in Sweden or to my UK address. First I heard was a letter from a collections agency. SP claimed to have written to me four times, my guess is that the letters were sorted in the mail room into some 'special' pile because of the foreign address and then basically never mailed. If they'd been sent with just a 1st class stamp on I would have got them as that happened quite frequently.

Welshie, sorry to hear you are so tired, phone call with Sleep Lady went well and although we haven't made a proper start today, we have put ds down (just about) awake as she advised, and he's gone off. Got his arms out of the swaddling blanket though so it may not last. Anyway, will write more about it later.

Jonah, I found the words to the mocking bird song, they are STUPID! Apparently you buy them a billy goat or summat? And then a horse & cart? What would ds do with such items? (Or a diamond ring, come to that). So making up your own words sounds like a good plan. I'm looking forward to doing Sing and Sign though, to get some good nursery rhyme practice in.

Lynny, arrghhh, saw you online today and forgot to add my own "dear god I HOPE you are not pregnant but if you are CONGRATULATIONS" message. Seriously, your body has taken a major beating producing Jess, I hope for your sake you aren't .. yet .. as you need a chance to recover.

RHM, hope you're all feeling better soon.

Tea, glad the blue dino is safe, fancy not knowing about Alosaurus. Has ds seen Moschops? Is Moschops even on any more? I forgot to say how delightful I thought it was that before he told us each mad story last Saturday he started with "Excuse me, mummy and mummy's friend." How marvellously polite!

Bubba, sfx, I have similar views on the Tube, although I don't have to go on it (as it doesn't run to Suffolk or Leeds, obviously but I am in London fairly frequently). I would go on it by myself - I lived in London during the last IRA campaign - but I won't take those risks with ds. Not just bombs but the endless delays of security alerts.

Charley - I know you are limited on driving with ds as I am with my little monster, so somewhere near Cov is probably a good idea. In the twin-like nature of our little horrors, I completely understand why you've been letting him nap on his tummy. I effectively do that as well, albeit it's propped up on me, but even so. I'm with you on the baby massage/yoga thing. It's so difficul to predict when they might kick off, but I think to some extent that is true of all babies. As others have said, you have to go with the flow I suppose. Although I am mad keen only to do things around ds's sleeps just now, dunno if that is obsession due to speaking to the Sleep Lady, or just because he's such a horror when we're out at the wrong time, as tea could testify if she were not too polite to

lummox, follow charley's advice and your baby will not have a crise de fois as long as you avoid giving the baby rich food and too much wine

mandy, only a southerner would call Nottingham 'the north' LOL I'm sure the little one will call people m'duck, will she support Forest or County?! (As a nominal Derby County fan, I naturally abhor both but Forest more I think, so my bro tells me anyway).

MrsW, that earth mother thread had me in hysterics. So glad the wedding went well, maybe at some point your ds and tea's will get to meet up? From your hilarious descriptions of each, I reckon they'd get on famously.

Right, must go, time for dinner. Bit late due to ds naughtily still being awake when I got home from the residents' meeting. My presence obviously soothed him even though I've been next door emailing and surfing since I got home! (I did go in and kiss him goodnight, am not a complete monster).

Have a good evening all!

katzguk · 28/09/2005 20:49

evening all

nice to see you all yesterday.

well i'm all pampered, re-energied and relaxed, i've been at the spa this pm. DD2 still refuses to take a bottle so she screamed for an hour!!

Blimey, some great long posts today! I agree with the summary thread, sounds like a good idea.

Lippy, the bride wore a magic dress . Honestly, in it she didn't look in the slightest bit pregnant but in normal clothes she looks quite big. It had a kind of draped effect under the bust, a big skirt with sparkly bits...she looked beautiful. They are now away in America enjoying their honeymoon

Yes, I was definitely dancing like an 'aunty' LOL. Oh well, I suppose it's time for me to move over and let the next generation take to the dancefloor

Charley, I agree with everyone else that you should just brave a yoga or massage class. Everyone's babies kick off in them, it's baby law! I took DS2 to his first massage class yesterday morning where he demonstrated his raspberry-blowing abilities for most of the session and several babies cried all the way through.

Sorry you had such a nightmare journey home Jonah.

Redheadmum, hope you all recover very soon, must be horrible for you.

Hope you get a good night's kip tonight Welshie. I'm going for another early night tonight (it takes so long to recover from social events these days).

EYM, hope the party goes well tonight.

Trib, you'll probably get your free clogs when you officially move oooop north - the council gives them out as part of a welcome pack that includes a pie, a flat cap and a whippet

Coop and Lippy - another one???? You are both mad! I have to say, I hate the thought that I won't have any more babies but DH is adamant he doesn't want any more. We'll see.... Good luck TTC Charleypops.

Quick question for Bubb and everyone else using grobags - are you using anything else over the top of it? The only reason I'm asking is that DS2's hands were freezing cold when he woke up this morning. I'm tempted to put a blanket over the top of him, what do you think?

Right, time for my relaxing bubble bath. Sleep well all.x

tribpot · 28/09/2005 21:42

MrsW, we must never surrender the dancefloor. I didn't look pregnant at my wedding but then I was only 8 weeks (or 10, can't remember) and didn't wear a wedding dress, so that helped. Glad your sis had such a lovely day. We still haven't been on our honeymoon, maybe one day.

My oldest bro is adamant they won't have more kids (they have two) but I am convinced SIL will get her own way eventually. I don't get it, do you just get a taste for being endlessly pregnant / never getting a decent night's kip so think you might as well carry on ad infinitum? I want one more but that will definitely do me. How much wine can a girl realistically be expected to give up due to pregnancy, after all.

Lynny, when my computer told you I was idle, it meant I hadn't been chatting for a while, it wasn't an assessment of my character Btw, sorry for mentioning "it", didn't realise dh is still in the dark. Henceforth I shall say nothing controversial.

sfxmum · 28/09/2005 21:52

evening
nice to hear from so many of you.

lynny- probably not but check- god shiver down my spine!

welshie - hope you get some rest. and all of you too.

my dd has been in need of endles cuddles and endless feeds today, all mostly for comfort it seems. its usually like this after vaccines but this time esp. since she looked like she was coming down with something.
she has not yet settled properly, i can hear dh singing in the background, something about a craddle rocking and baby falling, sounds vaguely threatning.

am going to bed guess she will be like this for most of the night.

charley- baby yoga sounds nice must ask HV about that, this one runs a baby breastfeeding cafe, where we go to stuff our faces with cake and let our boobs out.
just try it all babies are unpredictable anyway

mandy- yes lancashire boy or so he says. tells me i made a serious mistake allowing my english to be moulded in the south...!?

night all wishing you a peaceful night

Back again ladies

Mrs W - grobag - we have the summer weight ones for dd so I have a light weight blanket or a flannelette sheet that we also tuck dd in with, against the manufacturer's rules I know but she likes to be swaddled still so this helps and if dd's happy so are we

RHM - sending get well vibes to your house...we've had a touch of the sniffles in our house this week...from both the males in the house so obviously it's the onset of flu!

Katz, hmmmmm not sure what to suggest...we use the Dr Brown's and the Tommee Tippee Nuby bottles. Dr Brown's good as the valve system means babe doesn't have to take a breather whilst sucking so abit more like bf, and nuby teats are bobbled abit like mum's nipple (apparently) so may also help. Beyond this I'm afraid I have no ideas.

Lynny/Lippy - Milton Keynes is a great centre to meet at, very kiddy friendly too - even have loos where you can take buggies in with you , but Bicester is good too??

Trib - we think the excuse me's are cute too...god knows where he got it from as neither dh nor I are that polite , and don't malign your lovely ds - despite your sweet comments on her routine, believe me Amber has very off days too...today being one such day, grrrrr - no idea why but high pitched screaming fits throughout the day...added to copious puking incidents - I was particularly pleased with the one where she got me, herself, the floor, table and my empty (thankfully) teacup in the coffee shop (yup the one where ds was so vocal last week) It's a good job I spend so much money there they'd have banned me otherwise I'm sure

Jonah what a horrendous journey - lol at your cabbie - they do insist on telling you everything about themselves don't they!

Welshie - hi ya - hope you get some sleep

Bubb - yeah why do they put the poppers on baby vests/babygro's on the 'back' part so they dig in when changing little ones?? Bad design fault me thinks.

I know I'm always harping on about the things ds says but I just have to tell you his latest...he wandered off to have a wee (sorry I know they're all toilet related !) whilst I was feeding dd. Suddenly I hear a loud scream from the bathroom, followed by the words 'mummy I'm trying to wipe my bottom but the new big boy wipe (kandoo) is stuck to me and I can't get it off!' Puzzled, and still feeding dd, I asked him to come and show me, so in he waddles pants around his ankles, turns around and presents me with one of my pads stuck to his bum!

katzguk · 28/09/2005 22:13

are Dr Browns like Haberman feeders? because we've tried them!! the problem with has is that DD won't suck!! She just plays with the teat in her mouth.

Coop - I feel excited about finding a baby yoga group! I'm reassured to hear you don't have much more of a routine than me - I always see you as one of our thread's more organised mums! (ALL of you seem more organised than me by the way!) Lol at your poor dd in her car seat for 5 hours! Loads of people keep theirs in them all day everyday so I wouldn't worry about it

RHM - hope you all recover soon you poor things.

Lippy - I'm sooo of your holiday house! We've decided to stay round where we are for the next few years for dp's work which is expensive so can't afford a fab holiday home yet

KVG - I tried so hard to do the Baby Whisperer EASY thing and got too stressed etc just like you. hope you get sorted properly with the BB sling - you could try a folded up muslin behind her head? I'm dying
to get ds into his pushchair rather than the carrycot too. I'm being very good though and going to wait until 4 months. have a fabby long weekend!

Tea - Ds ate his dungarees today! he must've been reading the thread! Oh my god - you've done it again! I pmsl at your gorgeous little boy's toilet antics!! I do hope you're saving up all these anecdotes for his future girlfriends!!

Welshie - oh dear! Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Katz - we use Dr Brown's - they're not really like Haabermanns (sp?) - they don't poke as far in baby's mouth. Defo try Dr Brown's.

Trib - lol at your step-dad's advice! very sensible I'm sure! Nightmare about your leak stuff - these complications always arise ime. Hope it doesn't get out of hand for you. I lurve Hebden Bridge btw. [
blush] at not knowing about Alosaurus too. Soo know what you mean about doing everything in baby's sleeps! Do you still use the BB sling? I managed to do some housework and take the doggie out for a longish walk today with mine

MrsW - thanks for your assurances re the yoga/massage classes Lol at hte rasberries! I've put ds in his grobag in ^^the
actual cot tonight!! So I don't know about his little hands yet. Lol at your Aunty dancing - it comes to us all doesn't it?!

Lynny - I'm in suspenders!!!

I'll HAVE to read the Earth Mother thread....

Are some of you on Messenger? I've just downloaded it!

Cooperoo · 29/09/2005 05:51

Hi all,
Just popping on to say morning.
Charley - PMSL, ROFL, LOL, LMAO at me being organised. DH would def not agree . I am obviously only sharing my good bits with you. I like the picture I have painted though .
Lynny - I think you will be fine. Try not to worry about what might not even be, so do a test asap!
Your stories about your children have me in stitches or saying Awww, so keep them coming. I like the fact that dd1 sobs 'no thank you mummy, no thank you' when we try to brush her hair/teeth/do anything to her involving hygiene. I am working on the excuse mes, at the moment she says Go away please in a really nice voice to ask us to move out of her way lol.
Right have to run as have Musical Tots this am and dh is off work so throwing my routine (pah - such as it is!)completely out and I know we will be late if I am not careful.
Have good days.

morning all
night better than expected. i kept her in bed with me so it was easier to reassure. only up twice to feed but she has been awake since 6am.
on the other side of me i had restless dh who is starting anew contract today. this entails a week of tutoring other people which he hates.
not much sleep had but could have been worst.

i will try and pop out while the weather holds i need fresh air.

tea/coop- love the stories of dd and ds keep them coming.

lynny-bitch indeed, best of luck with the test.

rhm- hope all gettin better, what a nightmare.

dd been chewing on everything she can reach and this results on her having a permanently wet front/ sleeves. we have spit everywhere its a festival of spit.

re routines- i never tried to follow any prescriptive programmes, there lies disappintment and frustration. i know it is unpopular but i really like the book on child development by penelope leach. it gave me the confidence to make mistakes.

dd is not as settled as t may, sometimes seem but i like to share my successes as well as all the mishaps.

she is currently trying to get my attention and i am doing my best to ignore while i finnish this. know she thinks her teddy is more reliable and is chewing on him.

welshmum · 29/09/2005 09:34

Morning all,
I'm still knackered - dd is testing me out a bit at the moment it seems, so yesterday was really trying. For example I made vegetable soup for her as she says she loves it in nursery. Of course my soup was 'the wrong colour...not green' so I re-presented it with a bit of green food colouring, but no, still wrong, 'horrid, not like nursery', complete with much spitting out and the yelling and stamping of little feet. I had a day of incidents like that yesterday so ended up shagged out and fed up.

Ds was a bit cold in the night I think so woke up for an extra feed - tonight he'll be bundled up good and proper.

Sfx - we've got a festival of spit here too but seems pretty happy so not teething I don't think....who knows??

Lippy, charley etc I really admire you thinking about going for another one. It won't be happening here - too much of an old baggage to go through it all again.

Lynny - I'll be so delighted and dumbstruck if you are up the duff - keep us posted.

Tea - your little lad is a star

RHM - good to hear from you - sorry you're knackered too.

Trib - interested to hear what you made of the sleep lady, she certainly did us the power of good. I think I could get ds to drop a feed now but I can't quite be bothered just yet - maybe next week.

Have great days ladies - I'm off to baby cinema later to watch Goal! and eat my own bodyweight in chocolate

bubbaloo · 29/09/2005 10:27

Morning All,

Rhm-Hope your'e feeling a bit better.Wishing you all a speedy recovery.

Lynny-Fingers crossed for you that you get the result you want.Let us know how the test goes!
I also haven't got broadband. When I'm taking pics for Ebay,I find that if I lower the pixels(instead of using 6),to the lowest it can go I still get a great picture and it doesn't take long to upload at all...and I sell loads of things on there.
about your mobile-how awful, but at least you can get a nice new one now, free.

MrsW-Must admit I haven't used covers with the Grobag, but have been very tempted. When we were at Yarmouth the other week ds's hands were so cold,he slept with 2 pairs of mittens on.
Think I'd be a bit nervous using blankets as it is meant to be "against the rules",but a thin layer probably wouldn't hurt.I find ds's face tends to be cold when he's in there, and the rest of him's ok! Have you tried using mittens?

KVG-I was also wondering when ds can sit up a little in his buggy.I also think it's around 4 months or when they can hold their head up properly. We've bought him a winter jacket with a huge hood, which will be a pain to wear if he's lying flat,so once it starts getting a bit colder I think I'll prop him up to the next level,in his little jacket.
Hope you enjoy the lakes-bet they're lovely this time of year!

Katz-We use Avent and Mothercare bottles and teats, but then again ds isn't too fussy.Avent bottles are such a nightmare though-they're always leaking and ds gets soaked.

Tea-your ds just gets funnier by the day.

Charley-How did Arlo sleep in his grobag and cot last night? Ds did one massive scream at 4.45 this morning,I flew in there and he was soundo-he dad does the same.
I'm not on messenger yet-still need to download it.On ICQ though.

Welshie-Enjoy the cinema,and of course...the chocs!
