Shiny new thread, as promised fellow FEBers!

Figured we would start another new one to mark first birthdays, bethlou, so I've held fire on referencing that landmark in this thread title - hope that's okay with y'all!

Anyway, welcome everybody, pull up a comfy chair, someone get the wine out and I'll open a huge box of chocolates for us all to share.

I wish I had taken a video! She does bum in the air too!

Next time!!!!

bethylou · 10/12/2010 21:33

Excuse my spelling mistakes more than usual, I've been awake since 2:15a.m due to DS1 having earache (since confirmed only as cattargh-such a bloody bloke at 2.8yearsHmm) and the glass of red wine seems to have gone to my head more than normal...

CC so glad to have heard form you. Sending more hugs and reassurances that you've been through a lot lately. Lurk away to your heart's content but know that we are thinking of you.

LBH Once again, I'm left thinking reflux fromm your post...

My boys would like to join the ill club. DS2 teething again (from 2 to 6 teeth in a week) and has my horrid cold/cough etc.. while DS1 seems to have that plus ears and normal tummy ache which made him cry from 2:15 till 6:15 today. Funnily enough, yesterday's rare impression of a supermum was not repeated today!

DS1 gets the high temp round here (like DH) and peaked at 38.7 the other day with what is really only a bad cold. DS2 seems to take after me more with lower temps. My understanding is that it is actually good to get a temperature to flush things out. Scary nonetheless, especially the first time round. Poor old DS2 gets no sympathy!

DS2 is now standing unaided for about 5 seconds. I'm wondering if he'll walk before DS1 (who was just 11 months). It's certianly going to be close I think. The Christmas tree went up tonight so that should be fun. DH reckons it will be fine as it was with DS1. What he has forgotten is that I spent alot of time with DS1 stopping him getting to it that i can't do this time round! DS2 also repeating 'daddy', 'duck' and 'dog' (and randomly 'goat'Confused when we say it first. I'm quite relieved. DS1 was an early talker but I spoke to him about 6 times as much as I manage with DS2 so was having a bit of a guilt trip!

Anyway, off to watch a bit of our 24 dvd (yes, that's where I've been this weekBlush) befire a cacth up sleep.

Have a lovely weekend all.

p.s. Christmas with a toddler is so exciting - I'm already excited for him! Off to see Father Christmas this weekend Smile.

LittlebearH · 10/12/2010 21:54

Hi Bethylou!!

DS2..2-6 teeth in a week!! Shock Another one to be walking soon!!! And talking?? Shock Shock
DD still only has 2 bottom teeth. Can say dada and copies "aaaaaagghh!!" She started it and now we do it at her.

Interesting you think reflux...Will mention this to HV next week. She never does the same thing two days in a row. TBH with her milk it is as if she cant be arsed as she pushes the bottle aside and sits up to get off me so she can play/chase cat who has walked past/look at tv...she has mastered crawling off to to the tv with a biscuit in one hand and toy in the other! Multi-taking already!!!

GuernseyFrench · 11/12/2010 07:39

What a night. DS went to bed with a temp. of 39.5C and woke up at 12.45am, 2 and 3.45 for about 30mn each time. He was so unsettle (and DH wanting some sleep) that I gave him his dummy Xmas Blush, so hoping that I'm not back to square 1.

My night out was fun yesterday, I was home just before midnight. DS still sleeping now, I'll go and check of his fever and probably will go to gp again this morning.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 11/12/2010 08:09

Blimey, that's a veritable tooth-growing orogeny, bethylou!!
Sorry to hear you had a bad night, hope last night was better...

Yes, LBH, could be silent reflux - which is the variety that doesn't involve as much vomiting, I believe....
Or, she could - as you suggest - just be extremely distractible!
Would love to see the video of the sleeping baby bear, if you can capture it!

Glad you like the clip, BG - Nataly is part Italian and part Venuzuelan, which means, although she doesn't want any of her own, adoration of babies is pretty much in her blood. I think DD responds quite well to adoration!

Back from gp.
THe viral infection has gone down to his chest, and his nappy rash is so bad that it's infected too. So antibiotic to cure both infections.

Eruption of teeth bethy

Lurk as much as you wish CC glad to know you're still with us. Xmas Smile

Now off to Amazon to order DS present some duplo as it seems the island is out of stock!

BabyGiraffes · 11/12/2010 13:40

dd2 seems to be getting worse Xmas Sad. She fell asleep sitting in the shopping trolley earlier... (dh away so had no choice but to take the girls with me). Interestingly dd1 managed to succeed where I had failed. dd2 refused lunch and yoghurt and I turned to tidy things away, only to turn round again and my toddler was chatting to the baby and spooning yoghurt into her mouth, telling her it was really quite nice! And dd2 happily complied and had a few spoonfuls! Wonderful sight how the sisters interact even at this young age. dd2 is now sleeping but every time she coughs she finishes off with a distressed kitten sort of cry. Her cough really seems to hurt her still Xmas Sad

BearCrimble · 11/12/2010 13:55

Oh no it seems like everyone's DCs are poorly. I'm so sorry and wishing all a speedy recovery.

I think I caught whatever DS had because I've been quite unwell with a sort of tummy thing and just felt very weak for a couple of days. Now DH is coming down with it but at least DS is better and the poos are staying in his nappies. THANK GOD. It got very wearing when every poo for about 3-4 days was a leaky one.

We are all going to have an afternoon nap now.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 11/12/2010 17:46

Get well soon, everyone Xmas Sad

Yepee no temperature today Xmas Grin

I hope that all our LO are going to get well soon too and that all of us mums don't get under the weather too.

BabyGiraffes · 11/12/2010 19:12

Just had one of those delightful toddler conversations... dd1 'I want to have a bath with Papa tonight.' Me 'Papa is in Leicester' dd1 'But the Leicester house has a bath, too!'... Er, but... Grin

GuernseyFrench · 11/12/2010 19:25

BG Grin priceless

LittlebearH · 11/12/2010 19:59

Hi all.

Just had DD refuse her bottle. Screamed when put to bed and then has just thrown up everywhere. Everything was covered. Have just had to sit with her until she fell asleep.

DP says is it because I have overfed her. Biscuit

It really pisses me off..I let her watch too much tv, I go to her too much, she will get used to this/that. Why is it always something I have done??

Think she had trapped wind or mucus from her cough or that she screamed from being over tired that made her sick.

I want to lamp him. My chinese has gone in the bin and I am really pissed off.

I am doing my best FFS

BabyGiraffes · 11/12/2010 20:06

IC your blog and videos provided a nice source of distraction to my dd2 this afternoon Grin(we have no TV...). Thanks for that!
She was a little brigher this evening (you could see it in her eyes how ill she was the past few days) but still does her cat cry every time she coughs. She accepted dinner but was so clogged up with mucus that she started choking and then was quite sick. By an extraordinary coincidence dd1 sitting next to her was distracted and totally failed to notice and because of her cold didn't smell anything either!!! (She's the one who's never been sick in her own right but is very sensitive to someone else being sick and joins right in - so I was very relieved today!). I didn't say a word, caught a lot of it in a muslin, threw that on the floor on top of the rest and then quietly got a cloth to mop up.... dd2 happily had the rest of her dinner after that but I made sure she had a sip of water between spoonfuls to wash things down properly. What a day...

Get well wishes to everyone else, too!!! Poor babies (& mummies) Sad

More positive, I got a christmas tree today and put it up and it looks lovely. I also just took the Christmas wrapping paper off the bay window (Don't ask Xmas Grin) because we finally have curtains again in the living room. If we get the chance to put up some shelves to house the hundreds of books on the floor at the moment, we may actually have a cosy Christmas... Xmas Wink

GuernseyFrench · 11/12/2010 20:06

Deep breath LBH no you have not feed her too much. She either cough too much and got herself sick or as you say the screaming will have done the trick (if I recall she was sick when on CC?) By the way how can you overfed her if she didn't get her bottle Xmas Hmm

[Pour a large gin and tonic and give it to LBH emocotion] Xmas Grin

BabyGiraffes · 11/12/2010 20:06

LBH xpost with mine. Mucus!! Sad And no, not your fault!

LittlebearH · 11/12/2010 20:15

Thanks. GF well remembered, she did throw up with CC. (probably going to have to reinforce it again tomorrow.)
I think the reason she didn't want her bottle was because she didn't feel good.

Oh and it was DP who gave her tea tonight!!!!

ClimberChick · 11/12/2010 21:14

Hello All,

Sorry that there's so many poorly babies especially GF and Bethylou.

I was starting to chill about LO's weight. The ped. was fine with her but did say that she was on the same line. But I looked at she's not, she's just above the 0.4th but was above the 2nd. Still I know she's fine. Also that their weight gain slows down, particularly so for BF babies and as others have pointed out she is rather more active than the typical 9 months. She did a entire lap of the flat yesterday. I'm going to include it on the blog, any takers as to how long MIL gets in touch about it?

Right off to upload baby photos and update the blog. At least I have all weekend to do it.

ClimberChick · 11/12/2010 21:24

IC I'm also very impressed that your DD can lay there like that and be cuddled for so long.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 12/12/2010 09:06

You're not the only ones - she never cuddles up like that with us!!!

Oh, LBH, not surprised you're peed off.
The vomiting could also be because of the as-yet-undiagnosed-and-still-theoretical reflux, possibly....
Incidentally, Charlie Brooker recently wrote an article saying all men need to keep them sweet is a blow-job and/or a biscuit. Have you offered him a Hobnob lately? Grin
(My DH agreed with Brooker's assessmen. Luckily a few digestives with his morning cuppa do the trick)

I'm glad your DD2 is feeling a bit brighter, BG and that our family videos are helping keep her distracted! Tough to have a young sympathy-vomiter (is she emetophobic?) to deal with, thank goodness she didn't notice DD2's little eruption...

Likewise, good news your DS' temperature is coming down, GF.

Looking forward to checking out your blog, CC! Xmas Smile

DD had a lie-in until 08.00 this morning Xmas Shock Mind you, that could have been because she had a looong resettle during the early hours, a good hour plus... Still, nice to wake up when it's actually light, for a change!

OP posts:
BabyGiraffes · 12/12/2010 09:16

Sad dd2's temperature still 38+ and she seems to be breathing rather fast this morning... All she wants to do is sleep which I thought is a good thing but now I am getting worried whether that's a more sinister sign? (ie. chest infection developing). Yesterday she did not get up in the morning until 8.45 (had been awake in the night though), slept lunchtime from 12 to nearly 4!, back to bed at 6 and slept to 8 this morning (again with coughing in the night). In between she was nodding off on my arm... She's still drinking well so I guess I'll just keep her warm and keep cuddling.

Happy 3rd of Advent to you all! Managed to get a proper advent wreath with four candles at huge expense (they just don't do them in the UK) and dd1 can't wait to light the third candle today. We also want to make and decorate biscuits as a little present for her teachers. I hate the 'present for teacher' culture over here but as she's 3 and really likes them I thought something small and personal is actually a nice thing.

Must go, dd2 is trying to sleep on the floorboards... better put her to bed.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 12/12/2010 11:18

Poor wee mite, BG, she's probably exhausted fighting off this bug.
I think I would take her to the doctor - but then, I am a first time mum and would probably be panicking (unnecessarily) by now...

OP posts:
GuernseyFrench · 12/12/2010 13:27

BG poor thing!

DS has woke up this morning with a rash. So trip to A&E and DS was diagnosed with roseola which actually fit all his 4 days of high temperature. It should only last one or two days.

Our night was bad DS woke up and cried from 2am til 4am even with me comforting him Xmas Sad

InmaculadaConcepcion · 12/12/2010 13:40

Ah, at least he's over the worst in that case, GF.... and now he's had it, he's unlikely to get it again, so that's something too.

Sorry you had a bad night, but not surprising. He'll feel better soon, I'm sure.
