Hi all fellow September mums. If I'm duplicating another thread please tell me. If not, would love to hear how everyone is getting on.
Tom is a week old today. All well - though has a slightly infected cord stump so am going to GP today.
I'm still madly hormonal, could burst into tears whenever I think about the impact all this has on my lovely dd (2y2m).

Kiwifruit · 23/10/2005 21:33

Wow STM - he doesn't muck around - have you given him an answer yet???? And what was it????

Poor you KiwiKate - that doesn't sound like fun at all. Hope your DH is feeling better soon - doesn't sound like much fun for him either.

I wouldn't dare co-sleep - DH is 6ft 5in and weighs 119 kgs - Charlotte wouldn't have a chance if he rolled on her (and he moves around a lot in his sleep - we only have a double bed, which is barely big enough for the 2 of us - can't wait to get home to our King size bed, we will lose each other in the space!!).

Still no news from RZ - really hope that no news is good news...

mummyhill · 23/10/2005 23:07

WOW STM.

Had a good day today. Mum came down and spent some time with me this morning. She took charge of the kids whilst I Got my living room clean and tidy. Went to MIL's after lunch then home for tea DH took charge of the kids and I actually got to eat a hot meal for the first time in weeks. After tea I went up to mums and did half an hour on their treadmill and 15 mins on the exercise bike, had a shower in peace and sat and watched tv uninterupted have come home with batteries slightly recharged.

milward · 23/10/2005 23:36

mummyhill - glad you are feeling recharged
Kiwikate - hope your dh is feeling better & that you are able to get some rest xxx

I co-sleep & my dh sleeps in another bed as he worries about being next to ds. The unicef babyfriendly website has a leaflet with lots of info on bed sharing with a baby. For me being next to my ds is more reassuring & I can bf & lie down to get some rest.

Cabe · 24/10/2005 02:14

Helloooo

just about to go to bed... couldn't resist having a peek at the thread before I go though STM you must keep us informed!!! desperate to know what your reply was - if of course you've given one yet - How lovely, little bit though, no-one's ever proposed to me... so old now think I'd faint if they did!!!

Kiwikate, hope DH is feeling better soon, you must be run off your feet.

So glad your people are behaving more like a team Mummyhill - hope they realise they need to keep it up

I got my little car yesterday, DP brought it up and looked so sweetly smug as he handed the keys over - It'll make such a huge difference to my life, shopping without having to wait for the weekend when DP gets here, getting into uni on time, dry and without having worked up a major sweat - it's been a mission impossible over these last few weeks with Conrad in tow... They've got used to me breastfeeding in the Sociology common room though!

Been with my sister all day, her bump's coming on nicely so I was really pleased to be able to take her my maternity clothes...

Right, I'm off to bed so goodnight all and {hugs] to all the little ones x

PiccadillyCircus · 24/10/2005 09:09

Good morning on a very wet Monday morning. I am glad that DS is at nursery today - he can let off steam there .

mummyhill - glad you got time to yourself yesterday. Hope it continues.

STM - tell us more .

LadyL - hope things are all right with you.

KiwiKate - hope your DH gets better. And that you get some more sleep.

I have bought some non-maternity jeans . And I think I need a belt with them which makes me as well. Need new footwear though as the sandals aren't going to work much longer . My feet seem to have expanded as well.

DD did wonderful sleep last night - fed at 10:30, 2:30 and about 6:30 and is asleep now. Unfortunately, DH slept badly "because he ate chocolate before going to bed", DD woke us (but not her" with her grunts, wind and hitting the sides of the moses basket and DS woke up at 6am full of beans.

And my throat feels sore .

Will go an put on my non-maternity jeans .

bubbles2904 · 24/10/2005 09:22

Good morning all, i've just got up after a terrible night, serves myself right for bragging lol
STM, can't believe you got a proposal, i'm so jealous. I've been expecting dp to propose for the last few weeks, but to no avail.
No news from rz yet
Does anyone else think it's quiet without jessysmummy? she must be adjusting to family life with two kids.
REDHELEN, you made me chuckle earlier, when i catch myself saying "the kids" i think i sound like sally webster, although i do usually say "the girls".LOL
I'm not bf so that suggestion is no good to me, my hv said my doc won't see Mia until she's 3 months for this problem as sticky eye usually goes by then.
CABE, your dp sounds like a real sweetie, your life will be so much easier with a car, i wish i could drive.
MUMMYHILL, glad you're feeling more human, your mum also sounds like a sweetie, my mum is dying to get hold of Mia for a few hours, i haven't left her with anyone other than dp yet. Next time dp is up your way we will definetly have to meet up.
KIWIKATE, so sorry you're exhausted, hope your dh feels better soon.
To everyone else, hi, sorry if i've missed anything or anyone out xxx

bubbles2904 · 24/10/2005 09:29

Congratulations pc on your non maternity jeans, it's such a lovely feeling isn't it. i've been in my size 14 for about 5 weeks now, but they were my jeans before i dieted before last xmas.
have also been thinking of LADYL, hope you're ok and sorting things out with dh, just remember we're all here for you.
Oooooh talking of xmas it's only 62 days and 62 slleps now. i'm soooooooooo excited, i'm like a big kid at xmas.
Has anyone started buying pressies yet? What are all our lovely babies getting off santa?

Redhelen · 24/10/2005 09:47

urrrrrrrrrrrrr - bad night!!!

Rachel 'slept' for six hours in a go - however - she was so noisy as she still has a cold - I kept waking up! She would not settle at all after her 4.30 feed - but is sleeping 'like a baby' now!!!! so were are the paracetamol and coffee!

KiwiKate - got the monitor on - really pleased with it - but the little flashing light every time Rachel breaths was facinating - may also have kept me awake!!!

Mummyhill - glad you had a good day - you deserve time to your self - take care xx

Bubbles - I laughed as I typed 'the kids'I can't wait until christmas either - I realy enjoy decorating the house - tastefully obviously!!! - just getting ready to get the halloween stuff down from the roof - and Rachels 0-3 months clothes!!!

Off to raid the cupboard!!! bought two very nice new tops yesterday - size 14 - so not the size 16 I thought I was!! My mum says I look like I'm getting smaller ever day - and she dosn't had out compliements easily!!!

Have a good day all.....

PiccadillyCircus · 24/10/2005 09:51

I think Alice has chicken pox .

Two weeeks to the day that DS came out in spots, she has very similar looking spots on her face, tummy and legs. We are going to the doctor soon. Poor baby - I didn't mind it for DS so much but she's only small .

(the non-maternity jeans are somewhat bigger than my normal size but they still feel good .

Kiwifruit · 24/10/2005 10:13

Sorry to hear about your DD PicadillyCircus - if it's any consolation, my HV said they are much better off to get it when they're small (she said the smaller the better), as it tends to be much milder, and they don't have the same ability to scratch as older kids.

Very of your shopping PC. I went to Oxford St on Saturday, but it was so chaotic I couldn't concentrate, so didn't buy anything. I'm also going to have to do something about shoes - currently only have a pair of (smelly ) trainers, and a pair of smellier ( ) Birkenstocks that fit me. The blood pressure meds that I'm on make my feet swell, so there's probably not much point in buying new shoes until I'm off it (hopefully in a couple of weeks) - very frustrating!!

Right, am off to town again to sort out Charlotte's NZ citizenship and passport in preparation for our big move. Very of your car Cabe - I really hate London transport with a buggy (am going to buy a sling this week), and am looking forward to getting back to NZ and driving a car again!!

Have a good day everyone

milward · 24/10/2005 12:01

Hello All,
pc - my dd2 had chicken pox as a baby for her first xmas!! - just love the photos!!! all the scabs. She was covered but had most on her face & head. Wasn't a problem thought don't think she got a temperature. I found giving a bath with some porridge oats helped sooth. I put the oats into a sock and let it float in the water. Also used socks over her hands for the scratching as it was harder for her to get the socks off. Good luck xxx

cabe - enjoy your car & freedom it will give. Well done for bf at uni - hope your studies go well.

I'm feeling much better from mastitis - has anyone else had this? Hopefully not!

All those in non-maternity clothes - it must feel good. I don't fit my non mat clothes yet (only one skirt) I'll have to measure to know my new size & go shopping.

best wishes to all xxx

singleteenagemum · 24/10/2005 12:17

Milward, i had it very mildly last week but i just fed constantly on that side and it went within a few days.

I said yes!!!

Bubbles have you considered proposing to him instead?

Having a whirl wind romance that's turned into more...Noah and i going to move in after christmas...life's changing a lot down in sunny kent. not sure if good or bad. i'll enjoy it though.

Anyways hope all is better for you now Mummyhill and anyone else with DP/H problems...off to get Noah weighed.

STM x x

pooka · 24/10/2005 12:28

STM - lovely news
He sounds like a real rock. And how great that he's been a part of Noah's life right from the word go.
Sunny kent???? Not here, that's for sure! rain rain rain.

pooka · 24/10/2005 12:30

Milward - have never had mastitis but hue sympathies because it sounds horrible. Live in dread of me requiring any kind of medical attention at the moment or getting ill - there's no having a sick day when you've got little ones, is there.

OP posts:
milward · 24/10/2005 12:36

thanks pooka. No coffee breaks either or lunch break!! what a job!
It's raining here loads. dd1 went on her weeks school trip to the countryside (we live in the countryside but they go to another area!!). Had to pack everything even though I just felt like having a rest. Today spent one hour with her, dd3 (age2) & ds4 (1 month today!) standing in the rain waiting for the coach that didn't turn up. The headteacher on his mobile sorting it all out. Wet through. Then took dd3 to school.

Redhelen · 24/10/2005 12:56

Wow -STM - you'll have to change your mumsnet name!!! Really pleased for you - can you have him cloned - he sounds lovely!

Milward - no breaks and 'the boss' is never thankfull! Although Rachel has managed a couple of smiles since 5 weeks.

Off to the doctors this afternoon to hopefully find that my thyroid is no longer swollen - as it is functioning correctly. Fear I also have 'farmer Giles' umm sexy!

LadyLazarus · 24/10/2005 16:38

Hello all,
no time to read posts, but just to let you all know I am fine and back at home, after having sorted things out with DH.

STM - big congratulations

Redhelen · 24/10/2005 19:59

LadyLazarus - glad all is well.Been hoping things would resolve for you.

Thyroid - been to doctors I have a smooth groite (swollen thyroid)- and need to have more blood tests to see if thyroid functioning properly (it was in late preganacy) - I am also to have an ultrasound. It could still be preganacy related (as this is not uncommon apparently) or it could be heradatory (oh my spelling!) as my nan and aunt have problems with too much. I think Mummyhill and Milward are Thyroid experts??

milward · 24/10/2005 20:41

ladyL - fabulous news. Happy that things worked out for you.

redhelen - Mummyhill is the thyroid expert here! She gave me lots of help & support.
My probs just started in preg. My doc said that this can happen when the baby takes the mums thyroid hormones but she just can't produce enough to compensate. I had a blood test last week to see my levels & will check with my gp to see if I can stop the thyroxine or what the situation is. Was told it can take upto 6 months to have stable levels. All the best - hope you're ok xxx

Sallie · 24/10/2005 20:47

Congratulations STM and Lady L - glad things are working out. Me - I'm fine although still have in the back of my mind a lot of sadness that this is my last baby. Have my 8 week check coming up and need to decide on contraception but it upsets me even thinking about it and I got really sad when I was packing away my maternity clothes and dd2's newborn stuff...would love to have a 4th but dh not at all keen. We have been risking it without contraception up till now and a mad part of me was hoping that I would get pg quickly again although wouldn't be good for us to have such a small age gap again given we already have 3 under 3! Just soooo confused and life is tricky what with me not working and so on....

pooka · 24/10/2005 21:06

Sallie - I wouldn't get rid of the baby stuff and your clothes. You never know how things may change. Basically, you just never know. My SIL passed on all her baby clothes when dd was born as she was adamant that she wouldn't be having any more. She gets incredibly broody, but her dh isn't keen on more than 2. I feel very sad for her, as I know I want more than 2. Ideally 3. (with a larger gap this time - maybe the 3rd when Tom is 3 or 4 ish).
LadyL - glad you've managed to sort things out with your dh. Hope that you have an easier time from now on.

OP posts:
KiwiKate · 24/10/2005 21:47

stm - CONGRATS. Sounds very exciting! I am sure that your positive, sunny outlook (which even comes through on the email) means that your fab man is as lucky to have you as you are to have him!

Thanks for all your support, everyone. DH feeling a bit better. Grace slept for two, 2 and a half hour sessions last night, so I am feeling a bit more human.

Regarding the flashing light on the baby monitor - I turn it away from me if I am sleeping in the same room as the baby, as it also disturbs me (although nice to be able to check at a glance, otherwise I'd tape it over with masking tape).

DH is thinking of converting our double garage into a flat for my mum. It is larger than a normal double garage (and bigger than her current place). It will have a seperate entrance, and is downstairs from our house, so she will have some privacy. Since my dad died 2 years ago, mum has spent most of her time with us (often sleeping over). She does all my washing and looks after ds while I work from home. She has slotted in so nicely with us, and gives us space when we need it (often taking ds out with her - what a blessing now that we have a new baby)

Cabe · 25/10/2005 00:39

OH STM How exciting for you... hope you have a wonderful time making all your new plans together, I'm so pleased for you XX

Milward, I've not had mastitis (but quite glad of it) as it sounds so painful! hope it stays away now it's going.

LL - wonderful news your DH and you have managed to sort things out.

today seems to be a day of very happy posts on the whole despite the weather being soooo awful

PC isn't it great when you can get into non-maternity jeans - I'm saying this even though the button popped off my new jeans yesterday !!!

must go baby calling x

Kiwifruit · 25/10/2005 08:46

STM, that's fantastic news!! We might have to double up on this thread and use it as a wedding planning service for you as well as a post natal thread

Lady L - so pleased that you and DH have sorted things out.

Am really with DH at the moment. He follows me around the house picking up behind me, and throws things out without checking with me first. This time he has thrown out my favourite baby sleepsuit and a vest (only have 3 of that type and they're the best ones I've got ) which were in a nappy bag by the dirty laundry pile as they had got messy on a trip out. They must have been sitting there for all of 12 hours (i.e. overnight) and DH must have thought it was a dirty nappy. I know DD would have grown out of them very soon anyway, but honestly, his neat freak tendencies are driving me mad at the moment, and it is such a waste. That sort of thing annoys me for days - must learn to let it go!!! OK, vent over now...

Right, had better go and jump in the shower before dd wakes up again.
