Hi all fellow September mums. If I'm duplicating another thread please tell me. If not, would love to hear how everyone is getting on.
Tom is a week old today. All well - though has a slightly infected cord stump so am going to GP today.
I'm still madly hormonal, could burst into tears whenever I think about the impact all this has on my lovely dd (2y2m).

my hv is wonderful and sees us every two weeks unless we have a problem and then she comes out to the house as well as us going to see her at clinic.

GP was a waste of space. His expert opinion is that i do not have pnd as i am bonding with david. He feels that hte solution to my current feelings of isolation and hopelessnes are to a) get out more often, b) put a rocket up dh's arse. But he is checking my thyroid levels and will ask the hv to asses me. FFS I go out everyday to taje dd to nursery and generally have a cuppa with a friend whilst she is there and also go to moms and tots twice a week as i cannot face the state of the house and being stuck there with the children every morning would drive me mad.

I called hv this morning and let a voice mail about what is going on before seeing gp this morning and left her my mobile no. Just got back from toddlers and lunch at asda cafe to find that she had popped round, i missed her by 20mins, she put a note through the door to say she will ring me later.

FROM PAST EXPERIENCE IF YOU ARE FEELING LOW PLEASE TALK TO YOUR HV/FRIENDS/FAMILY/VICAR/GP (if they are more sympathetic thsn mine) GET IT OUT IN THE OPEN DO NOT HIDE IT AND PRETTEND EVERYTHING IS OK PLEASE BE BRAVE AND DISCUSS ANY PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING DON'T LET IT GET WORSE.

Natalie has gone to mil's for afternoon, david has just droped off to sleep so i may go back to bed and hide under the duvet.

Hi everyone, sorry i haven't been around for a few days, it's taken me ages to catch up. Feel like it's time for a thread but it doesn't feel right without rz, i am also very worried about her.
MUMMYHILL, huge hugs to you, but admitting you can't cope is the hardeset and well done for seeking help xxx
So sorry you're all having bad nights with your babies, mia had a rough night a few nights ago and i was shattered.
Don't know who it was that mentioned their baby smiling, dp discovered that if he ran a muslim cloth across her face she smiled lots no matter what the mood was. it's definetly worth a shot
I also have a huge addiction to pushchairs, i have been looking at my second one for mia this week, i've told dp that it's to get on the bus easier as it's not as bulky but thats just a excuse. With dd1 i had 9 prams including buggys by the time she was 3 (although 2 of them did break)LOL
Don't know if i've missed anything, redhelen i'll post you the lasagne recipe now if you're still interested.

bubbles2904 · 21/10/2005 14:35

MUMMYHILL, so sorry that your doctor was useless do you live in sutton coldfield?

bubbles2904 · 21/10/2005 14:39

REDHELEN, here it is

INGREDIENTS=

i bottle or carton of passata (smart price is fine)
1 onion
mushrooms
1 bag quorn mince
lasagne sheets
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tub of quark (sorry about the spelling)
Cheese, used from your healthy extras, or count as syns, any cheese is fine, and add amount due to your own taste.

first of all, brown the mince, add onion and mushroom, add pasata and tomatoes and cook for roughly 5 mins in a wok. Then put a layer in a large dish and place a layer of lasagne sheets, then another layer of each. Take your quark and mix with some hot boiled water to make a nice consistency and spread onto the top of your 2nd layer. Grate your cheese and spread on the top and grill for 10 minutes.

It really is delicious, hope this makes sense. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

milward · 21/10/2005 14:52

Mummyhill - huge support to you at this time xxx hope things get better xxx

milward · 21/10/2005 14:57

Wen to see my doc today - now have antibiotics to help the mastitis get better. Look & feel awful! When I bf ds my right breast that has the mastitis is really painful. Luckily dh is off work today so could take & pick up dds from school. I have to get everything labelled & packed for dd weeks school trip. Have so much to do & just feel yuck & need to rest. ds4 is bf well though & medication will help so should be ok soon.

mummyhill · 21/10/2005 15:10

bubbles - Sutton coldfield is our closest town.

mummyhill · 21/10/2005 15:28

HV has just called and is comming to see me on tuesday.

Redhelen · 21/10/2005 15:38

Bubbles - thanks for the recipe - sounds good - didn't make it to slimmers world this week - too knackered - dh is not pulling his weight!

Mummyhill - really sorry - I felt very low during alot of my preganacy - so can Identify with all you say - I paid to see a counsellor and an hour a week discussing/moaning/crying was extremely helpfull. take care xx

Oh no 'she' who must be obeyed has woken AGAIN!???

Kiwifruit · 21/10/2005 16:28

Hi All

haven't posted for ages - time just seems to get away on me (now know what keeps Mums busy when they're at home with little ones all day - feeding, washing, feeding, washing...).

{{{{hugs}}}} Mummyhill and Katts - hang in there. Katts, my health visitor only came once, although I think she would have come again if I needed her to. Community MW came 3 times. My GP surgery has a Well Baby Clinic once a week, where you can see either the Health Visitor or the GP and get your baby weighed, get advice and support and have a good gas with other mums in the waiting room. You don't have to book, you just show up - maybe your GP surgery has something similar? If you want to get out of the house and have a coffee or something, just CAT me...

LadyL - {{{hugs}}} to you too - hope you and DH can get things sorted out.

Really hope RZ is OK - it's not like her not to post for such a long time.

Charlotte is doing really well and has put on 500gms (she was 3 weeks old yesterday). She sleeps a lot, doesn't cry much and feeds every 3 hours in the night, so gets me up about 1:30am and 4:30am for about 1/2 an hour each time (although can be longer if she's got wind - she seems to gulp a lot when feeding and gets very windy - any winding tips gratefully received).

Spent Wed morning in floods of tears, as had to go and register Charlotte's birth at 10am at Camden registry office. Got up at the crack of dawn so would be ready when the taxi arrived. Snagged one of my stitches with a fingernail in the shower when I was washing my bits and nearly passed out. Then the taxi didn't show up, so was nearly hysterical as there is a 2 week wait for appointments, and need the birth certificate to get Charlottes citizenship and passport before we move to NZ at the end of Nov. Finally got there 15 mins late, and got it all done. Poor DH was about to jump on the train and come home as I was so upset - weird how small things get me so wound up - would never have been so upset before having Charlotte. Pesky hormones .

Andif - have you tried the hug-a-bub sling? It's the one my doula recommended to me, and saw someone with one at the baby clinic the other day, and it looks really comfy. Here's the link to their homepage (it's an Australian company) - there are stockists in the UK if you google them. hug-a-bub site

Right, have to head off and try and get Charlottes passport photos done - tried yesterday and it was a nightmare. Anyone got any tips for how to get a 3 week old to keep their eyes open and their mouth shut for the camera? Whoever thought up that rule needs to be shot .

Redhelen · 21/10/2005 20:53

Talking of passports - we got Rachels in the post this week - can't help but laugh at the photo - frightened bunny in the headlights! bless her!

Ouchhhhh about catching your stitch KF!!

Well off the watch blessed on BBC1 -some bits are funny - some bits are cringy! and dh says he has some chocolate - just got to find the hiding place!!! Night night

milward · 21/10/2005 21:09

kf - the bit about catching your stitches - sounds painful.
have to get passport sorted as well!! - will use a digital camera & white sheet as background for ds4 as he lies on the bed. Hope this will be ok.

Has anyone had mastitis yet as well? -it's horrid. The third time I've had it. Didn't get it with dd1.

sarahhal · 22/10/2005 08:04

Oh hangover alert! What was I thinking about drinking so much last night when I knew I'd be up this early and in the night( have been up since 6 with DS1)That is it, I really must have more sense and accept that boozy nights out are reserved for when the boys stay at my parents !! DH was a star and came to pick me up when I missed the bus even though he had to bundle both boys into the car at midnight!! I must not complain about him today at all and let him sleep in this morning! This is all my own fault and I feel rotten

bubbles2904 · 22/10/2005 08:56

Good morning all
SARAHHAL, lol, sorry you feel rough, i bet you said never again.
MUMMYHILL, my dp had buisness in sutton coldfield yesterday. He wanted me to go with him for company but really couldn't be arsed sitting in the car for that long with Mia. Hope you're feeling better today.
REDHELEN, hope you found the chocolate, i did. had 2 kitkats and totally blew my diet yesterday.Let me know if you make the lasagne and what you think of it.
Well, had a rough night with Mia last night, i put her down at 10 and she woke at 1;15, got her back off at half 2 and she woke as soon as she was put in her cot, then she slept in bed with me until half 7 but i was so aware she was there and didn't really have much sleep
advice needed please, has anyone elses baby got sticky eye? Mia has had it since birth but i can't shift it, have been told to use cotton wool and cooled boiled water but this is not working. any suggestions?

pooka · 22/10/2005 09:33

dd is prone to sticky eyes - go to the doctor because if the cooled boiled water isn't shifting it (I used to add a teaspoon of salt to a cup of boiled water and let it cool) you may need prescription drops. Though you can get ointment that goes runny once it's in the eyes which is easier to administer. Hope this helps.

OP posts:
mummyhill · 22/10/2005 09:45

Bubbles - Next time he is comming to Sutton Coldfield cat me and we could meet up. We found that cold tea was and still is quite good for sticky eyes. DD has suffered with this from birth, as soon as she gets a cold her eyes get all gooey keep taking her to gp who takes a swap tells us there is no infection don't worry.

milward · 22/10/2005 14:33

bubbles - for the sticky eye if you're bf - express a few drops of breastmilk by pump or hand or catch in a sterilized breast shell & then just use as drops in your baby's eye.

Feeling abit better from the mastitis!

best wishes to all xxx

Cabe · 22/10/2005 14:35

Hello All

Read yesterdays posts but didn't get moment to post myself... you sound a bit brighter this morning Mummyhill, what on earth was your GP thinking? I feel you should have the opportunity of being refered to a councellor... Could you go Private? Having a trained ear listening to your concerns and fears can be an invaluable experience

Hope your DH realises he needs to pull his finger out and darned well stop fannying around - get him to cook tonight AND do all the laundry, you need the support hun xxx

Redhelen · 22/10/2005 21:48

Bubbles - found the chocolate - dh doesn't know I've eaten it as a toblerone with a cardboard case - I've just left him the case hehe!!!

Been shoping bought more bits for the kids - really should buy some clothes for myself - I look like a bag lady!!

Hope your feeling brighter Mummyhill and Kattsxxx night nightxx

milward · 22/10/2005 21:52

know what you mean redhelen! I only fit one pre-preg skirt!! - will have to get some larger clothes soon. Have maternity things that I grew out of

KiwiKate · 23/10/2005 13:30

Pooka/Bubbles - seriously try bm in baby's eye as suggested by mummyhill. It is miraculous. It is also good for cracked or sore nipples (rub a bit on the nipple after each feed)

Grace slept a total of ONE HOUR last night. Spent the rest feeding/crying/needing a new nappy/feeding/needing to be burped/feeding/throwing up and needing clean clothes/ and oh, did I mention feeding?

Couldn't wake DH as he has severe bronchitis and larangitis verging on pneumonia.

KiwiKate · 23/10/2005 13:42

I am too scared to co-sleep with Grace, as my ds nearly died at 6 weeks (stopped breathing and turned blue at 3am - and we only knew because dh had invested in a breath-sensor monitor). While it might only have been a one-off thing, that does put Grace at higher risk of cot-death and co-sleeping is strongly warned against in such circumstances!

singleteenagemum · 23/10/2005 15:53

hi everyone,
sorry to hear some of you are down (hugs mummyhill) Hope everyone has a better week.

Well Noah is three weeks today and doing great...but on another 10oz in last week...getting heavy and long!

DNM, who's not such a new man anymore proposed last night...lol

pooka · 23/10/2005 16:37

My goodness STM!!!!
What did you say? Yes/no/maybe?
He's still sounding lovely by the way
Kiwikate - had forgotten about the breastmilk eye cure. It definitely worked when dd was tiny, but then she had a long series of eye infections that even breastmilk wouldn't shift.

OP posts:
Redhelen · 23/10/2005 18:39

Blimey STM - a proposal!!

Pneumonia - Kiwikate! - you must be totally knackered! I would not co-sleep with ds or dd - too scared & you have reminded me that I need to sort out the monitor - dd sleeps in a crib right next to me so dh keeps saying no need for the monitor until shes in her own room - but its not worth the risk in my eyes.

Just eaten a large chinese meal and full up and ready to sleep - but dd has other ideas!!
