Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rubena · 10/11/2010 18:48

Oh and Spot don't be ridiculous!

JamInMyWellies · 10/11/2010 19:02

Nah stick with Rubes.

I love the internet in the space of 40 mins I have purchased all relative and friends christmas pressies now for my two.

I am up for SS this year.

JamInMyWellies · 10/11/2010 19:07

PD meant to say earlier what about Portugal is it still hot at this time of yr?

AVO you do not come across as an arse.

DeidreBarlow · 10/11/2010 19:10

Avo You certainly do not come over as an arse!

Jam I am very Envy at your Crimbo shopping. I got stuff for the DC's and other children a few weeks ago but I still have lots of adults to buy for.

sybilfaulty · 10/11/2010 19:28

Oh my lord, if anyone is struggling (and god knows I am on 4 hours sleep!) may I commend the 5 year old version of our darlings? Ihave been like a bear with a sore head as I am so shattered and L has just handed me a note: "Dear Mummy, Sorry you are tiyed. Hope you have a lovely day with DD2 tomorrow. Lots of love, Lucy XXXX" They do turn out gorgeously. We are very lucky.

sybilfaulty · 10/11/2010 19:29

By the way, I am up for SS. I will even organise it if you like. DH can do the draw. He's very discreet. Hm.

Rubena · 10/11/2010 19:48

I'm up for a bit of SecretSantage

traceface · 10/11/2010 20:19

sybs that is mega-cute Grin. As I was driving the other day, L said to me "mummy you should wear your glasses more. You look lovely in them", so i said " Thank you Lucy, that's a really kind thing to say", to which she replied "well, I don't mean beautiful, I mean, not like a queen, I mean, you couldn't marry a King or anything, but they do look nice" Grin
My DH would not be an appropriate Santa's Little Helper. He is allergic to organisation.
avo you come across as a most lovely and down to earth, fab person. Fear Not Wink
DH is out at 6th form open evening so I'm going to sort through some photos and then watch the Apprentice! But I'm allowed because I've already done all tomorrow's packed lunches and changed the bedding so we can get into yummy fresh sheets tonight!
Oh and yes to SS - what was the price limit? I can't remember what we did last year, and I've lost the email with everyone's addresses too, so maybe ZJ someone will have to compile a new one with all these housemoves too?

spotofcheerfulness · 10/11/2010 21:11

On the Brighton meetup front I can do any Tues, Weds or Thurs. Ever. I have no midweek life Grin.
YY to SS.
Blimey, Xmas shopping. I was thinking I had ages of time, but need to get arse into gear I spose. Eek! I'm afraid I'm really crap at Christmas, don't really enjoy it and have never made a big deal about it (my sister still hasn't forgiven me for cooking us all a Christmas Day curry when I was a teenager). Looking forward to when T is old enough to get into it so I can get over my scrooginess. Jam can I borrow your Xmas list and I'll just get everyone the same thing you did?!

DP has some antibiotics, hurrah! I really hope he can get over this big and we can sort ourselves out.
Thanks for the pool info JJ, I think I probably will go for it, we're probably just not feeling v keen right now as everything feels like an effort. Which room did you have it in?

Glad you've made up Lady and I am v excited to be receiving a package in the post. I feel very privileged and you are too kind.

Sybs that is v sweet about your DD1, I am really looking forward to that time.

VagolaJahooli · 10/11/2010 21:58

Oops sorry forgot to comment on the pool thing earlier Spot. I could not have had babies without the pool. I love them as much as gas & air. We still have ours from DS2 but a friend in Derby has it. If you know anyone able to pick it up for you your welcome to it. We had a pump that got the water out quickly afterwards so it just had to be near a window. It was great I felt like I was having a little spa in our livingroom and between contractions lay bank in it and sip my tea as it was right near my tea resting spot on the couch. Aahhh memories. Just a tip do a test run just to check the hose fits your kitchen tap, we didn't, & it didn't a fact we found out at 9 am on the day DS2 was born luckily that was 12 hours later and I didn't need the pool until about 6 hours later. We used a lot of the towels we earmarked for the birth to mop up the water squirming out of the tap-hose connection where DH had tried to strap them together.

Jewellery night was fun. DS2 woke for a cuddle just as I got home. We are going to a friends for dinner Sat night and I'd really like a full night out.

VagolaJahooli · 10/11/2010 21:59

Pubes, DS2 breaks up on the 16th so no earlier than the 18th I don't think.

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 22:46

Avo, PD was only teasing, daftie. Of course you're not an arse!

Well, I have ruined my diet as I am scoffing posh Godiva chocs which came with a magnum of good champs from one of DP's grateful clients. We are saving that for Christmas though. I am not a choccy person but it's nice to have one once in a while. Now that Downton Abbey has finished on Sunday nights, Garrow's Law is back this Sunday on BBC1 for those in need of costume drama. First series was good. And it's about a defence barrister in Ye Olden Days and so DP gets very excited as he does mainly defence. Of course, the defendants in Garrow's Law are mainly innocent Grin

I watched The Apprentice. Has anyone noticed how the 'treats' for the winning teams have been really scaled down and become a bit cheap 'n' nasty? The 'treat' tonight was a trip to a karaoke bar. That would be a punishment as far as I am concerned, and I quite like singing.

Trace, I think the suggested limit last year was £10. Or was it £20? Nope, think it was £10. I am jealous of your bed in clean sheets. How delicious that is!

Sybs, that is SUCH a sweet note from your DD1.

TheInvisibleHand · 10/11/2010 23:47

Quick dip in to say congratulations urbane

WG - I was just listening to the trailers and thinking of you - it does sound great.

Vag - you must be so proud of AK - that's really lovely (but of course no surprise knowing you on here)

Interested in the talk of more DCs. I think I was feeling distinctly tempted a couple of months ago, but have slightly lost that sense that really want another. Which is just as well, as I don't see how. (Well, obviously, I can see how, but its the next bit that would be a problem!)

Rubena - never fear, I at least enjoy the banter on here, even if I don't get the chance to pitch in much!

All fine here, just no time. Not even getting to read stuff, which feels wrong for me. Seem to be specialising in work trips to ridiculous places that are a pain to get to. Also DH has gone oop north for a few days to clear stuff from his parents house, so the builders can get access to radiators and install a new boiler Confused, so am juggling at home a bit. Am trying to plot a sneaky week off work before the end of the year to do nothing but slip off and sort my life out when the kids are otherwise occupied! (LadyT - I too am puzzling over the contraception thing. Have been way too indecisive to sort anything out properly since DS arrived Blush. If you find the holy grail of contraception I would love to hear about it. I was leaning towards just going back on the pill, but urbane's tale has made me pause for thought)

EffiePerine · 11/11/2010 07:24

I have some random days off booked to use up holiday before the end of the year - mostly Thursdays. I need to drop the boys off at 8am and pick them up at 5:30 but other than that...

Rubena · 11/11/2010 08:33

You don't seem like an arse Avo.
Lady, agree re Apprentice except last week I think it was nice at some spa. Even the winners shouldn't have celebrated. Should have just taken the alcohol home and drowned their sorrows as they were both awful. Cringe, cringe, cringe.

I have a teething 3.5 month old. Great one stops and the other starts.

urbanewarrior · 11/11/2010 09:08

Hmm. May have spoken too soon as some bleeding last night and this morning. But I had a bit of this with DD too so who knows. Fingers crossed. Although have to say I feel less pg today. Whatever that means.

PD good to hear from you - my BF went to Egypt last winter with her brood (she has same as us but twins when we had DDs) and had great time. But was v touristy bit I think. Will find out.

Avo I heart your holiday recommendations - and of course you don't come across as an arse.

rubes my DD isn't really talking much either. V odd as she isn't really growing vocab - she just says different sets of words at different points (and never many). She gets what she wants though so perhaps she's just super economical.

Am also up for Secret Santa. Although not SS Grin.

poisondwarf · 11/11/2010 09:11

Avo - of course you don't come across as an arse! Far from it. It's just that I had noticed your taste for the finer things in life and I am a career skinflint! LadyT, will check out those websites. Hmm, have been to Egypt 2 or 3 times in the last week of November (it's when my birthday is) and it's always been a LOT hotter than 25/26. Much further south than Luxor though so I guess that's why.

spot, all those days are working days for me unfortunately. Small chance I might be able to make it Tues or Wed in a couple of weeks though (30th/1st I think), depending on when I go on hols - will let you know. Where did you stay in Tenerife? Was it cheap? Would you recommend it for toddlers?

Haven't seen the Apprentice yet but the cringing sounds promising Rubes. Very tempted to watch it now as I am working from home. Can't seem to muster the energy to any work at the moment - am such a slacker. Although I did manage an outdoor swim yesterday even though it was minus 14. Such a hero.

Hello Invis - good to see you.

sybil/trace so sweet of your DDs. I think I'll be waiting a very long time before I get comments like those from my two!

poisondwarf · 11/11/2010 09:26

urbane sorry to hear about the bleeding - hopefully it's just settling in.

Would be interested to hear where your BF went in Egypt - and I'm fine with v touristy.

Rubena · 11/11/2010 10:03

oh dear, ds just fell down the stairs AGAIN seems ok, just will not learn!

Rubena · 11/11/2010 10:06

Hope everything is ok Urbane

VagolaJahooli · 11/11/2010 10:44

Hope you ok Urbane. Thinking sticky vibes for you. Can conceiving on the pill be problematic at all, from a sticking point of view I mean.

Looking into Antwerp so looking forward to it.

Avo I think your lovely, the women most least likely to be an arse, I think PD was making a comment on herself not you...not that your an arse PD. I must say PD I'm liking your current work life balance. Or should I say MN work balance. It's great to have you on here so much. Any further holiday development.

I think I need to start thinking about our summer holidays next year. I'd love to do that campervan thing but they all book up pretty quickly.

Right back to looking at hotels in Antwerp.

EffiePerine · 11/11/2010 10:44

Hope all is well Urbane. Can you get to an EPU if you're worried?

Rubes: I feel for you with the early teething. Is she screamy or just dribbly?

LadyThompson · 11/11/2010 10:54

If you had some bleeding with DD, Urbane, that is a little more reassuring. Do hope it settles. I'm sure you are at work but hope you can rest a tiny bit.

Rubes, I have forgotten when teething usually kicks in. That sounds hard, though. My DD is oddly and massively dribbly, oh yikes - not possible, surely? I think JB's DD began teething early.

Where are you, Jolly? And Nolda?

Good to see you, Invis. Hope you manage to fix the week off.

I really like Antwerp, Vagola. You will remember I have a friend who lives there.

Am I alone in enjoying the awful weather? It's very cosy in here, looking across at the trees and fields with the rain lashing the window. The horses at the bottom of the garden aren't too chuffed though.

LadyThompson · 11/11/2010 10:58

Ooh, nearly time for the minute's silence at 11 o'clock...

EffiePerine · 11/11/2010 11:51

Right, I have days off on the 25 November, 2 Dec and 16 Dec. Any good for anyone?
