Hmph, back on the antibiotics then Sad. Infection has got much worse so doc said it wouldn't be fair on him not to. She was quite reassuring though in that she said he didn't seem to have any underlying immune issues and that she often saw kids who were as ill as frequently as T and all of a sudden got better for no apparent reason. Just really need to work on that immune system as she said he is susceptible to get everything at the moment. It's hard though because when he's well, he loves to see his friends and go to playgroups, nursery etc, but apparently it's the two weeks after the antibios have stopped when his antibodies are low that he's most likely to pick something up.

Beans, you know tis wrong to not squeeze a pustulent spot. If I was near you I'd happily do the honours.

Lady I love the CD Grin. How are you feeling today?

Did we agree a date for a Brighton meet-up? I think 2 Dec seemed to work for those who were possibly going to make it?

SL, how is DD today?

Effie thanks for asking about baby stuff, I bought some new vests and babygros and a bath support, along with breast pads, disposable knickers and pads so feel a bit more ready. My neighbour has a lot of my little baby stuff but there's weird things going on with her and her DH at the mo (woke the other night to the sound of a massive argument and bottles being thrown etc) and I want to wait a little before daring to go round in case I get caught in the crossfire!

EffiePerine · 18/11/2010 16:19

Poor Mr T. That is reassuring about the infections though. Maybe he's getting all his childhood illnesses out of the way nice and early. I'm around on the 2nd and pretty sure I can make it to Brighton, trains permitting. Would be lovely to see you.

VagolaJahooli · 18/11/2010 18:15

Picking up lots of infections isn't necessarily indicative of a compromised immune system, that just shows there is an availability of virus' & bugs. Not unusual at this time if year. If he wasn't showing all the symptoms of fighting them off, high temp, snot etc then you would worry. If it makes you feel any better children who hand a lot of bugs and viruses as toddlers statistically have a lower incidence of leukemia. They think it may be to do with either having a robust immune system to start with or developing one.

VagolaJahooli · 18/11/2010 18:52

Right we've had a final come down on the price from the seller, its a big drop from the last one, but its still 7,500 above the max that we wanted to pay. This is her final drop because it is actually the amount that another buyer has now offered. Our estate dude still think its an ok price, its actually still a little lower than what he thought the place was worth. We've got until tomorrow morning to give our answer. I think we are going to go for it.

JamInMyWellies · 18/11/2010 19:40

How exciting Vag! Grin

Spot I am so sorry T is still poorly. No advice just a friendly punch on the arm with a buck up love. x

JamInMyWellies · 18/11/2010 20:32

love this [pom]

JamInMyWellies · 18/11/2010 20:34

try again Bear

VagolaJahooli · 18/11/2010 21:19

I'm baffled Jam, how did you make the bear. Is this some crazy magic you have that makes bears appear on the page?

notjustanumber · 18/11/2010 21:42

Bear :)

SL you are welcome here anytime. Work is OK I am just finding juggling very very hard right now. I work somewhere where there is tremendous pressure to be on top form and be applying yourself all the time, people without kids find it hard. I wonder why I do it, but I've invested a lot in it, I'm the main and stable earner and at some point in the future I'll probably be glad I stuck with it. Perhaps I should shove the kids in for an extra half day at nursery and have some time to myself once a week. Would probably do me wonders.
I'm quite into the table runners and decorations talk, I badly embroidered some stockings last year. What I would really like is one of those metal mobiles that you put a candle underneath and little angels whizz round and hit bells. We had one when I was a child and I loved it.

Beans hope you got the spot. I meet your spot and raise you and unbleached tache. Right, cracking open the wine.
Hope all the coughs and colds improve for the weekend.

notjustanumber · 18/11/2010 21:44

Veg Its a result of a funny thread about some lovely eccentric people, its in classics now I think.

Avocadoes · 18/11/2010 21:51

Hello ladies

I have been try to get on for a couple of days but have been madly busy. I can't write much now as DH wants me to log onto 4 On Demand so we can watch Desperate Housewives on the laptop in bed. Do you think he might be gay?

Anyway, I just wanted to point out I have been famous all week. A recipe of mine was picked as recipe of the week on the home page! In keeping with that Domestic Goddess image I have put a photo of last year's gingerbread house on my profile. Along with my marzipan nativity and DD1's marzipan nativity worm.

Gah, have to go even quicker than planned, DD2 is crying. This never happens. She never wakes at night. Oh dear...

Rubena · 18/11/2010 22:46

BabyLadyD is seriously gorgeous! She's a darker mini O, and O is still a beauty as ever!
We had a lovely lunch, a hand massage at Jo Malone and a cheeky stop at the champagne bar on the way out - as one shouldGrin I had a moment of madness and decided to take the train rather than drive. What on earth was I thinking? Rush hour? A change at Clapham junction, and a buggy = stupidity. People are either completely and utterley rude, or very helpful. Sadly I encountered more of the former. Suffice to say I will drive next time! it was well worth it meeting up with the lovely Lady trio though, but seriously, my hat goes off to you Lady, and anyone else who tackles the trains with the kids in tow - or perhaps I'm just a wimp Hmm

Spot I hope T picks up soon. As has been said, maybe he'll benefit from all this early illness and be strong as anything and never ill in future.

I'm up for Brighton - Can do the 2nd too. where would the venue be?

Hello Avo, Desperate Housewives? Really? Hmm Congrats on the Domestic Goddess-ness this week!

Jam, seriously, I want your Christmas list!

urbanewarrior · 19/11/2010 00:04

Wg your DH is a god. I thought BE couldn't get funnier. Grin Grin.

Glad you had a lovely time Rubes and LadyT - sounds great. Mmmm jo malone. And hope Summer's DD and Spot and T had better days.

VagolaJahooli · 19/11/2010 07:54

Argh bad night and seriously snotty. We are stopping the morning feed and DS2 is not giving up without a fight, literally.

Rubes you poor thing. I used to take the tube and train with just DS1 & it got considerable harder with DS2. Apart from the precision timing required to miss peak hour, which seems to start at 3pm, its just not fun for the litter ones. If you've got a better alternative that's smart, not weak. Lifes to short.

Was your recipe this week? I only saw the personagranates one.

DS1 has 2 friends coming over after school. Argh.

Beans33 · 19/11/2010 11:08

Spot is still just red and sore, not a squeezed yet.

Went to v nice dinner party last night - very civilised. I felt quite mature. Not like me at all. Then got home and had a most passionate bonk with DH - Monsieur Ginormo-Knob himself. Did it even though it was past midnight and it was ace! First in weeks.

Eek , have to carry in in a bit, sorry!

waitinggirl · 19/11/2010 11:59

Hello lovelies. Posting from iPhone while waiting for Antenatal appt to see why I'm so ginormous (measuring 30 weeks at 25). Sorry haven't been on for ages but lurking on phone before bed and too tired to deal with iPhone predictive looniness.

Urbs - I emailed that to dh, thx!

And beans, you are HILARIOUS! Maybe a tad tmi, but wouldn't have it any other way!

OP posts:
Nolda · 19/11/2010 12:31

Spot - I hope T feels better very soon.

Good luck with the house, Vag.

Avo - Loved the marzipan nativity. We usually have a marzipan figure by each place setting at the Xmas dinner table, usually a pig, snowman or santa. Never thought of doing a whole nativity, brilliant!

Hope the appointment goes well, WG.

Just taking a break from my 48 hour cleanathon as a result of DD catching worms at school. Can you believe that all the children wash their hands, one after the other in the same bowl of soapy water? They may as well not bother Angry. Anyway, DD has special dispensation to use the tap, I only hope she remembers Hmm.

VagolaJahooli · 19/11/2010 13:25

WTF! Nolda they would be better giving each child a wipe if the feel they won't wash their hands properly. Surely a child getting worms would be a good enough reason to change that practice. Man, worms, I remember taking 6 massive worm tablet every 6 months or so. There was 4 of us kids and inevitably one of us would end up with worms at least once a year so mum would deworm all of us as soon as one of us got them. I think living on a little farm helped with the infestation.

Well we def have the house very exciting and a little surreal. We also have a new (2nd hand fridge). After the freezer died on Monday the fridge slowly died a painful death too. It has slowly increased in temperature until it almost seems warmer than the outside temperature. The new house has a built in fridge so we didn't want to get anything too good. But DH managed to find a decent second hand one that will do until we move in. I can easily resell it on one of the expat buy & sell sites.

Still feeling crap, DS1 & his friends seem to be having fun. They are currently feeding the rat/hamster. We had her out in the ball earlier but she disgraced herself by defacating and it rolled out into the floor.

Avocadoes · 19/11/2010 13:38

Congratulations Veg! How exciting. When do you think you will move? Is it as long and torturous process as over here? We are now looking to complete in late Jan but we have not even exchanged yet so it could still all go tits up.

Beans - love your posts. Am jealous of your passionate encounter. I think Dh and I might have had an encounter about a week ago but it was about 4am and I can't quite remember what happened... hence the jealousy!

Nolda - blurgh to worms. How is the 30 day shred going? I have stopped for a few weeks and can really tell. It was obviously doing something.

WG - I hope the scan went well. How is your DH at the mo?

Lady and Rubes - so glad you had a nice day out. You two are super women with they way you get out and about. I live 10 mins from Westfield and really need to get some stuff but I could not face it this morning. And I only have DD2 with me. How do you both do it?

DD1 had a show Assembly today. All the nursery fulltimers (i.e those that will be starting Reception in Jan) were performing. The theme was "Anti-Bullying Week" and DD1 introduced it by welcoming everyone to "Auntie Bullying Week". I am so pathetic, the tears started then and only got worse when they all had to dance in a line. Most of the kids were mildly wiggling but DD1 was really going for it and looked so serious and proud. The tears flowed so thick and fast that DD2 started loudly exclaiming "Mummy Crying" which of course made all the other parents (none of whom were crying) stare. Mortified. Must man up.

DeidreBarlow · 19/11/2010 14:41

vag Great news on the house.

Avo that is so sweet of DD1 & DD2 for that matter. No need to man up, I would have been exactly the same.

beans You have me in stitchesGrin Mainly because DH does moan about my lack of friskiness after about 10pm, usually because I am in dire need of sleep!

wg How have you got on??

Nolda Thats sounds really crap of the school, not much fun for you either having to clean now either.

Funeral was yesterday and was a lovely service if not a little emotional. Went for some reatil therapy this morning to cheer myself up. DS was a little star he sat in his buggy being a very good boy. But it probably had more to do with the Cheddars and biscuits I kept feeding himBlush

I have some shocking period pains today which I am assuming is thereason behing the headache I've got that I just cannot shiftHmm

DeidreBarlow · 19/11/2010 14:42

retail therapy

VagolaJahooli · 19/11/2010 14:58

Beans!!!! Cheeky.

WG did you measure big last time?

sybilfaulty · 19/11/2010 15:08

The way this came up in my "threads I'm on" list made it look as if you wer asking Beans if she measured it big last time! In view of her post about her DH, twas very apt.

Now realise that I am never going to be able to meet Mr Beans. I would not know where to look (well, where I OUGHT to look...)

Oh dear, I need to sleep.

sybilfaulty · 19/11/2010 15:11

Glad you had a peaceful day yesterday Deids. And very excited about the house, Vag. Woo Hoo!

WG, I measured big with all of mine, but just lots of fluid and cake with mine and nothing to worry about. Did flood the delivery room when my waters went with DD1. Was "spectacular" acc the MW. Poor DH did not know where to look!

waitinggirl · 19/11/2010 15:28

fat. apparently it's down to fat. mine, not anyone else's. but i'm having a very inconvenient gtt and an extra scan just to make sure. and no, vg, i didn't measure big last time - was bang on. although i was 2 stone heavier on conceiving number 2 than madam, i have only gained one stone this pregnancy so far. weird. last time i started at 12 1/2 and ended at 15 1/2 - this time started at 14 1/2 and am now 15 1/2. mind you, i've still got a while to go - only 26 weeks at the mo.

avo- thx for asking about dh. he is really well in a sort of depressed way. he's been trying to contact ppl to help, but most seem busy/way too expensive/not very nice, which is very frustrating and not a little upsetting at times - just when you finally get the gumption up to ask for help, the person at the other end of the phone acts like an insensitive twat. he's bought some good mental health books and is now convinced that he's been depressed for a long long time and is now really thinking long and hard about things. he is making jokes about being a loony (such is the way with the comedy writer), but just the fact he is facing up to it is helping, i think.

beans - i, too, along with sybil can never, never, NEVER meet your dh. EVER.

db - been thinking of you. retail therapy sounds like a fab thing to do the day after.

avo - auntie bullying week sounds like it was wonderful - bless her!

nolda - dh and i both had threadworms during my last pregnancy - probably down to having an organic veg box - it is v hard to get rid of those little bastards without pesticides. i did flummox most of the health professionals when asking whether it was safe to take the medication during pregnancy.

spot - what news on T?
