RamblingRubes · 10/11/2010 11:57

Yes, impressive PD, but still a long way to go Wink

poisondwarf · 10/11/2010 12:11

He he loving the name change Rambo

RamblingRubes · 10/11/2010 12:20

Rambo!! Love it!

VagolaJahooli · 10/11/2010 12:28

Rambopubes it is.

P'ht you ingelish with your silly songs and your frites en vish, you are dizgasting, non. Hehe jus joking, PD sweetie what do you want the holiday for, relaxing, kids entertained and being comfortable and warm. OR do you want to sight see, get hot and sweaty on a tour bus and experience a touristed version of another culture. Just go with what you know. DH and I have tried a few different places the last few years but generally we just want to go back to our lovely little farm thingy place in Tuscany

poisondwarf · 10/11/2010 12:43

Yes you've got it bang on with the first option. Pre-kids I would have been into sightseeing (sights being mostly bars of course) but now as long as the DCs are happy I'm happy. Also I like the DCs to be where there are lots of other children if possible, and that kinda means camping or package hols really. We should organise a big MN holiday - hire a big castle or something. The menfolk can do the cooking, cleaning and of course cocktail mixing.

That farm thingy looks fantastic. Just not warm enough in November unfortunately.

spotofcheerfulness · 10/11/2010 13:21

Rubes I feel bad now Blush and I hope you don't think I don't love your ramblings cos I do. I just didn't want to have to go anywhere else for them!

Hiya Poison, enjoying today's prolificness (prob not a word but hey). Can't give any suggestions other than we went to Tenerife last year and weather was really nice in Nov. Enjoy the end of your job - you been given a decent pressie yet?

Kiwi, please please please make your DH watch the Wizard of Oz this Christmas. It's bound to be on and when I heard him say on the pod that he'd never watched it I felt all Sad for him.

Glad P's arm better, Trace, that's good news. Also pleased you're enjoying work. Does that mean everything's blown over with your colleague and boss?

Did any of you who had home births get a pool? If so, how much of a faff was it? DP and I have looked into it (as my labour was so fast last time it would be good to slow it down a bit) but it seems like a lot of hassle and I'm wondering if it's really worth it...

DO really not in a good place at the moment, he's really ill and has been told to produce a 70 page magazine practically single-handedly in 3 weeks. So he's mega stressy about that which isn't helping him recover any, and it's hard to engage with him about the new bub as there's just so much to do before then. And house sale is still ongoing. I wish I could do something to make things easier for him but really can't, esp in my elephantine condition.

traceface · 10/11/2010 13:40

hello!
P has gone for a sleep!!! This is the first time in weeks that I've managed to get her to have her nap in her cot - I usually end up putting her in the car and drving rond to send her off, which is rubbish because it means I can't use the laptop get any housework done while she sleeps. So hurrah for today Grin
Rambo LOVE that name! And I love your posts too. Don't reduce them. Please please please Smile
spot how rubbish for your dp. How's your snotitis? And yes things are fine with my boss now. All blown over Smile
PD with the school thing we've found our parents evening things quite helpful really. Not too wishy washy at all! Now the holiday...hum. I'm not good at holidays, but sandcastles and chips is making me think Scarborough Grin Not quite the warm weather you were wanting though!
Vag you must be so proud of AK. He such a fab little chap. You cracked me up saying that you produce so gorgeous children it would be wrong to deprive the world of anymore!!! It's true! We need more Veggieboys to marry all our dds Grin
L tripped on our stairs just as we were about to leave for school this morning (wooden stairs) and totally face planted herself Sad There was so much blood and she was really upset but I think it looks worse than it is. Her top teeth were knocked and are now rather wobbly, but I think they were the next ones to go anyway, so I guess that'll be fine. Poor thing. I'm not doing too well with my girls and stairs at the moment am I? It's made me a bit nervous actually that I'm not being careful enough or supervising them enough. Another reason why I shouldn't have a dc3. I'd probably break it. Oh and vag P had her pot on for 7 days - it just seemed to fly by!

JumpJockey · 10/11/2010 14:04

So, have just slept for about 3 hours Grin and feeling a bit better for face the world. Time to try some dry toast methinks and see how that goes down.

Vag that is lovely, how great that the teacher can see the same qualities you do - shows that they really pay attention to their children rather than seeing them as kid #17 or whatever.

trace - poor L, injuries to the mouth always seem much worse than they are cos of all the blood. Hope she's feeling ok.

spot - we had this birth pool la bassine and as you know I absolutely loved every minute of it. We sat it on the floor by the back window in the living room so DH could fill it from the kitchen and then empty it via the back door. It was just phenomenally comfortable, and I spent most of labour kneeling up leaning on the edge, which I wouldn't have done on the floor as it's v hard ans uncomfortable. We don't have carpet, so no worries about splashing etc. It's pricey, but they make a good amount back on ebay or you can keep them to use as a paddling pool later on! I would lend you ours but the dates are a bit close to entrust it to royal mail Hmm

Beans33 · 10/11/2010 15:54

Avo - we did the same at Dahab Hilton. Was brill. But pre nippers, so was a sex-fest. Until squits struck and we had a loo-fest. Immodium saves the day. Especially as we were doing our advanced Padi course!

I can only fly, but DD2 much much better today - yeehah!

Finally got heating and hot water - at the same time. Have had one or other since Monday!

Pubes - keep up the posting - and I love the new name!

xx

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 15:54

Good afternoon fine ladies

All made up with DP now so feel better for that. These sleepless nights don't arf up the stress quotient in a relationship.

Right! RamboRubo, you aren't to go anywhere I would love a spa trip and a trip to Brighton to see Spot, my only worry is the combination. I could do spa somewhere closer to home or possibly London, shortish notice, or Brighton with the DDs (and therefore no spa). We should go and see Spot in December though because I remember how tough that last month is and how one needs cheering. I can finally contemplate leaving the house with both in tow. I will try Oxford as a dry run later in week and possibly London next week now that my insides don't feel like rice pudding held together by chicken wire.

PD - if you want cheapy, go to holidayhypermarket.com or directlineholidays.co.uk but I would say Egypt rather than the Canaries. I went in the last week of Nov last year and the temp was only 25/26C at best so fine for smalls. We went to Luxor but you don't want to do sightseeing and is of course not beachy. Sharm is supercommercialised so perhaps one of the other places? Pluses for Egypt are nicer weather, no Euro (so a lot cheaper) and yummier food. Yes, who will be the first granny on here? Like VeggieVaggieJahooli, I don't see teenage pregnancy as the worst thing in the world. I mean, it's not great but I think there are worse things.

JJ, I know what you mean about grandparents. All my DDs gps are over 70. Mum is 72 but you wouldn't know it and I think she is still glam and full of beans. Thank you so much for reading DH's book. I am always thrilled when people like it, because I think one gets such a sense of him. We still have the same bunch of reprobates playing, in the main. Are you feeling better? And thank you for my lovely card!

DB - it sounds so difficult for your Mum at the mo...Oh, and it must be your DS's birthday soon as I think he was the day before O.

VegVag, yes, I loved A Cock & Bull Story. Oh, and Ak is brilliant to be settled in so well, he is such a star. But you knew that anyway.

Beans - so is the heating all mended? And did you have a regular coil or a Mirena coil? They are plastic and doused in hormones but the selling point is that unlike the Pill, cos you're not swallowing them they aren't processed by the liver and swilling round your bloodstream so you don't get the moodswings/sore boobs. But I am still squeamish about it. What a wimpo I am.

Spot, I am finally sending you a little package today. Sorry for the delay. Have the ABs kicked in? If your DP is feeling too rotten to be into the idea of the new baby, remember we are all here to enthuse about him.

Sybs, I dreamed about you last night. I came to collect you from the station on a rollercoaster and we played scrabble with a friend of mine. Thank you for the LOVELY parcel, the colours are just right, you clever old thing.

Trace, that is so amazing that P's little arm mended so fast. Magic. As for L's fall, it's just one of those horrid facts of life that children trip over. And stairs are tricky at the best of times.

Hmm, I think I have missed people. Must go back and look.

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 16:11

Oh, and Urbane, don't mistake me, I am thrilled for you but it makes it even more shocking that you were taking the Pill and following all the rules for it to work! Yikes! Oh my ears and whiskers! WHO'S NEXT?

Avo - it could be you! I was so envious when you were talking about all the lovely friends you have near you, by the way. It sounds magnificent. I don't have a single friend here. I will make a big effort when we move to the new village but it is really small and given the size of the school I doubt there are many mums my age. The pre-school only has about a dozen kids in it, from tiny to 3.

Rubes, you were asking me what's to be done on the house...Well, finishing off of kitchen, bit of plastering and boxing in in kitchen, finishing off of and painting of bathroom, painting of shower room and entrance hall, painting of a few windows and window alcoves. Not loads but DP has been hugely busy with work for last 6 wks and this is continuing. Oh, and the biggie is we are waiting for the plumber to fix the immersion heater! So I will keep painting at my snail's pace and we will get there eventually. But we MUST be in before Christmas.

Right, I am sure there are folk I have missed but have a stack to do!

VagolaJahooli · 10/11/2010 16:31

Trace, DS2 face plants without the help of stairs. You cab do your best but they do need to adapt to their environment too. She'll be more careful next time. They do say all this child proofing is taking the responsiblity away from the child to learn to look after themselves.

Snap on the Egyptian squits. Hurghada Hilton is where we picked our dose up from, missed a day of diving, but was amazed at how cheap room service was at the hotel.

Thanks for your comments on DS1, I think it is very much his personality and not that much to do with us, but being as us mums get very little feedback, P&T night is a little like a PPR meeting for us really. In the UK informally they gave very similar feedback, (his school had wine & cheese nights instead of P&T night) however in term reports they always seemed to focus on what they couldn't do for most of the report, "jahooliboy has difficulty holding a pencil correctly" at the age of three Hmm

Oops gotta go ovens gone off.

DeidreBarlow · 10/11/2010 16:47

rambo Love the name!!! I don't think you do ramble actually. Ifound our table runner conversation both amusing and insightful (seriously I like that LED oneGrin. Besides I have tried but I just don't get twitter...if I keep posting surely I'mjust talking to myselfConfused

PD hello...no idea on where to go for your jollies I'm afraid. I tend to look for the places that will be least offended by the DC's kicking off over a meal!

trace Hooray for P's arm. Kiddies mend really quickly! As for L I wouldn't worry, DD is a right disaster zone constantly tripping and bumping into things.

spot Sorry to hear that your house is still plagued with illness.

Aargghh look at the time...best go and get DD from after school club! Back later....

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 17:15

Have googled Mirena coil - sounds vile so have put myself off again. Don't want the Pill really as it will just make me even fatter but at this rate it's that or condoms...

I have some trial packs of breast pads. Who wants 'em? Don't all rush at once Grin

JamInMyWellies · 10/11/2010 17:27

Trace I wouldnt worry about that. This morning I dropped DS2 from height onto my tiled floor while taking him out of the sling. For some reason I thought he could fall out backwards and not injure himself. Muppet.

Am christmas shopping tonight, thank god for the internet. I have no idea how my parents managed it with 4 of us.

Pubes do not stop posting, I love your ramblings.

Arrghgh tea time.

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 17:35

Apprentice tonight (that's if I get to see it tonight, DP wants to watch a film).

Yes Jam, I too will be online Christmas shopping tonight.

Hey, are we Secret Santa-ing again? Is DrJump up for refereeing again? (JJ, I know he is superbusy so if he can't do it perhaps another sensible, discreet and organised other half can step up to the plate. I am afraid this rather discounts my DP Grin)

RamblingRubes · 10/11/2010 17:39

Had a lovely afternoon with my friend and her lil one. DS was quite obsessed with the Flintstone type car. Can't believe how much her little boy talk compared to DS. M-25 Traffic sux
Thanks for your messages, but I don't love my ramblings! Oh and my name is only temporary! I think I just got a tweet from Vagola Grin

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 17:42

I like your new name, though. It sounds like a wild garden shrub! In fact I think that's what's in my new garden Grin

RamblingRubes · 10/11/2010 17:45

I feel like I might be mistaken for an obsessed hiker.

Rambalina · 10/11/2010 17:46

Thoughts?

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 17:53

Ha ha. But what is a Rube, though? Is it a piece of hiking equipment, then? The only rubes I know of are Rubix Cube and rubicon.

LadyThompson · 10/11/2010 17:55

Ah. Ahem. Now I see. Didn't look. I like Rambalina because Thumbelina was always my fave Hans Christian Andersen tale.

VagolaJahooli · 10/11/2010 18:17

To be truthful it sounds nice but it brings us back to viewing your posts as ramblings which we don't, so I'm sorry but I'm going to have to say...I'm out.see what u did there...that was ala dragons den.

No fair I want to be in secret Santa. Oh oh I know can I be in but whoever gets me can send it to the address in London where we are going for Christmas. What dates are you looking at for Brighton meet up. Was trying to convince DH to go from Dover to London VIA Brighton so I could visit Spot.

Trying to get DS2 to sleep as I'm going to a jewellery making party, get me. I'm pretty sure there is wine.

Spot when is the scan for your sinusitis?

Avocadoes · 10/11/2010 18:33

PD - I am really ashamed that you didn't want holiday revs from me as you knew they wld be expensive and that I fufilled that prophecy. I wonder if I come across as a complete arse sometimes. I'm sorry if I do.

Rubena · 10/11/2010 18:45

Oh thanks Vagjah,
I've switched it back for now. When are you coming over? lets try and do champas. Enjoy wine drinking / jewelry making Smile

dh is hopeless. Lost an 800 quid bike computer last week, and I've just had a call from somone who has found his Blackberry in the toilets at the hospital he was at in London this arvy Confused so have been calling security to see if they can get hold of him. Now he'll have to go all the way back at some point if he doesn't notice it's lost before he rides home. He'll be really pissed about that.
