JamInMyWellies · 21/10/2010 18:03

Sorry hatty missed you there. No.4 you must be keen [hgrin]

AVo this is the sort of thing we are after. I know their stuff is a bit gulp in price. But we have decided that we are not moving any time in the future and that we need to stop buying stuff from ikea that the boys can wreck and start buying lovely stuff that we actually like.

Avocadoes · 21/10/2010 18:03

TTC number 4 Shock. Although I have to say that last night DH and I were talking about TTC number 3. I think we are going to go for it. But as we are buying a new house and taking on loads of debt we can't go for it straight away. On the other hand as I can't reduce my hours at work it would be great to have another maternity leave, plus its works out cheaper if the babies are young at the same time so we only need a nanny for a limited time. We agreed to have a go next summer so that hopefully the baby will be born when DD2 is just over 3 and DD1 is 5 and a bit Shock Smile.

JamInMyWellies · 21/10/2010 18:05

Sorry forgot to say AVO how terribly sad for your mum. We have no wills either must must do it.

WG you are far too kind.

LadyThompson · 21/10/2010 18:14

Hello Hatty, nice to see you again! It's always so lovely to hear from old faces, very glad to hear things are going well. TTC no.4? I am hanging on by a fingernail with DD1 and DD2 (3 wks), so am in awe...

WG - DP is working on a case with the DH of a friend of yours - LH. Well, that's her name, her DH is of course ND. I have primed DP never to mention MN, don't worry Grin They were comparing baby photos Smile

Jam, that place looks fab. Haven't heard of it before. There's more temptation for me Grin And the interior designer is Turnip. Where IS she?

Avo, that is such a sad story Sad What your Mum must have gone through. I think the will kit I mentioned is passable if rather crude - if people have complicated arrangements they are better consulting a solicitor to write their will, of course, though unfortunately that can be a little pricey.

sybilfaulty · 21/10/2010 18:25

Marking my place. Have so much I want to say about wills etc (ever the lawyer) but will wait til I have more time and fewer children haranguing me (see you in 2026 then....)_

JamInMyWellies · 21/10/2010 18:35

Trying to catch up now. See dont post all wk and have to do loads of little posts.

Lady glad you are having a sort of restful scar healing week at home. How is DD2 sleeping are you getting any sort of decent sleep?

Spot, Veggie maybe we should get these horrible monster sleepers together. Chuck them in a room together and let them battle it out. They will either figure out how to sleep or they will plan to take over the world.

Oooh Rubes where are you off to for Christmas? Hows the shoulder did the injection work?

MOM how are you feeling?

Beans I have so done that with my 2 decide a walk is in order then we all freeze our asses off as we have gone out with just a jumper on.

Who was asking about slippers, I am on to my 2nd pair of UGG slippers I know I am Essex personified. [hwink] Fake tan and nails on the way. But they are fab. So toasty warm and although I do a new pair of slippers every yr they do wear very well. I wear them all day long in and out the garden etc.

Bloody hell ZJ that is excuse my language but fucking appalling. I hope you complained.

Summer glad to hear yu are a bit better. Is DH in the midst of manflu?

Veggie that sounds like an amazing place you are at. Is it far from where you live?

Cant rememeber who was asking about P&T. I have a vibe and have loved it. It has been brilliant even when it went wrong and I kept having to shlep to Bedford to get it repaired. Actually I suppose we need to think about selling it Sad

Am sure I have forgotten loads more but must go bathe my smelly men.

JollyBear · 21/10/2010 19:48

Hello everyone,

Hatty Hello! TTC No 4, wow! How exciting. Do let us know how you get on.

Avo Your poor mum Sad. All those thinking of getting a will. We sorted ours out recently - it was just under £200 for both DH and I. Worth it for peace of mind.

OOoh Christmas! I do get very excited. DD and I have already made gift tags. DD went crazy with the glitter!

We made gingerbread today. DD loved it, she stirred like mad. Unfortunately I forgot the bicarb so it hasn't risen at all. Oops. The house smells lovely and it still tastes OK!

Mom Thanks so much! Can't wait to try it on.

Need to go and read DH's job application now. Back later.

waitinggirl · 21/10/2010 19:55

jam - if you are serious about selling, consider me - we will be looking for something for feb (although i should probably try one out first), but so many people i know are p&t devotees and i am so lazy, i may just take it on trust. anyway, think on't, as t'were, and you can always fb or mn message me.

lady - yes, i wondered when your dp and my friend's dh were going to hook up - it's such a small world and nick seems to spend his life in reading, like your dp. i do love him, too. he's big, bald and gruff, and underneath it a big girl who loves gossip. such a love.

avo - your story reminds me of a chat i had with a dear friend last week - i found out, after knowing her some time, that her dad isn't her biological dad, but her real dad died when her mum was 5 months pregnant. these poor poor women and what they had to go through. quite something.

OP posts:
hattyyellow · 21/10/2010 20:03

Avo, you poor thing - what a difficult time that must have been. Sorry not to have scrolled down and read your post.

We must get a will sorted out, we get a free will writing service with DH's business account but every time we get stuck on the same thing. What to do with the kids?

I can't think of anyone who would have the space and finance to take three children. Most of our friends have 2 or more kids themselves - it's so difficult. All parents too elderly too take them on either.

Having said that - still pleased to hear you are considering no 3! Would recommend highly.

I partly blame our area for thinking about a ffourth child! We live in a very Catholic area dominated by an abbey and two very prominent Catholic schools and as such lots of RC families move to the area and 4 children is de rigeur. Not that that's a reason to have another one but it makes it
seem easier when so many friends have 4!

Lady T, 3 weeks old! Congrats! Are you still out in the stix as well? And you sound so utterly compos mentis and on top of it all. I cannot normally string a sentence together for months post partum!

Jolly your gingerbread sounds lovely. It's so cool when your kids get old enough to be able to do things like that with them!

JamInMyWellies · 21/10/2010 20:14

WG will have a chat with DH see what he says.

And on DH he is out tonight, at a mans shoe shop they are having a burlesque evening. Honeslty the most expensive shoes in the world and they chuck a few ladies with tassles hanging from their nipples give the men a beer and a few spicy chicken wings and voila lots of men spending ridiculous amounts of money on shoes.

JamInMyWellies · 21/10/2010 20:16

Oh Jolly I need to get cracking with the decs for chrimbo might do it tom. Dh makes ace gingerbread they are always really chewy he adds more syrup than the recipie.

Rubena · 21/10/2010 21:01

Crikey Bob it's been busy on here!
Lady that makes sense about your Christmas plans too.
The house we are going to stay at for the week is in Bath - it's lovely. There are 2 houses and it sleeps 20 in total. i think we will be getting the master suite as we have the most little people GrinShockI would post the link to it but I fear that some unknown lurker has read my anti m/w posts and may track me down Hmm

Hello hatty [waves]4? did I read correctly? I salute you! I'm happy stopping with my 2. Very lucky to have one of each but that said, 2 of either and I'd be just as thrilled. I reckon it'd be so much fun to compare a second of the same sex too.

Avo what a sad story. going to get onto the wills now....

WG P&T are great. Not sure what the differences are between Vibe and Sport but I hear good things about them all

Anyone have ideas about birthday presents? I have 1 y/o girl, 2 y/o girl and 40 y/o male MP to buy for! [help]

Veggiemummy · 21/10/2010 21:36

Just popping on quickly to say hooroo, and get myself on this thread. You guys have been so busy today and can't remember much but Avo, your mum went through so much at a time which should have been so special, so sad. But thanks for the advice on getting a will sorted. We also are stuck on who to send the kids to. We actually don't want any of our family having them but have 2 friends we would like them to go to but need to gather the courage to ask them. They have one child already.

Rubs the harness has a 5 foot lead, the ones I've tried were 3 foot at most.

Lady we had a few slebs come through our A&E when I work at Royal free, naughty but I love slebs health gossip. Obv I wouldnt tell though, but would love to chat to your MWs.

Jam you DS2 is so cute in that photo, your boys are as blond as my boys are dark.

WG I don't have a P&T but everyone I know who had one loves them. When I'm out with the boys I like everything close together and easy to get around & the P&T seems to be that.

Avo in by Christmas that's amazing. Hooray.

Spot screaming demon again last night, again with the teeth. He is like a hot water bottle too, bloody molars.

Had another great day but I'm shattered so orf to bed, we head home tomorrow after a swim in the groovy pool place.

Oh hello Hatty lovely to hear from you in popeville. Did they all get excited there when he came to town?

ZJ that's terrible, your poor DH, I think mine would have fainted if told that.

Rubena · 21/10/2010 21:39

Oh and Jam thanks, actually today is the first day (8 days on) that I can actually say it feels considerably better (the shoulder) But I really have to chase up the Physio now.

I'm a big Ugg slippers fan too however since my last one's were worn into the ground, I have turned to Next. Although it's freezing, I like the thong type ones. Always the Aussie I spose Hmm

Rubena · 21/10/2010 21:42

Vag - I think the longer lead would actually be worse as he swings off the reins and he tangles himself in even the short one. I reckon the wrist strap might be our best bet, although our recent strategy of giving him a warning that if he doesn't hold either our hand or onto the buggy, he goes back into the buggy seems to be the easiest.... although we're not past the screaming stage yet when he doesn't heed the warning.

Veggiemummy · 21/10/2010 22:19

Bugger I can't seem to fall asleep.

Pubes that method always worked with DS1. It only took a couple of bouts of seeing through the threat for him to realise we were serious then we only had to warn him once and he would stop running off. DS2 seems pretty good with it and actually like holding my hand when we go out. My problem is as we cycle everywhere I don't have the pushchair as a fall back when we are at the shops.

Glad to hear your shoulder is finally settling hope the secretary sorts out the referral. I had something similar happen when I had a breast abcess and the GP receptionist 'forgot' to fax an urgent referral.

Damn I think I need to wee again. Why is it when you can't sleep your bladder fills up faster.

Rubena · 21/10/2010 23:06

Vag, maybe you're pregnant Shock

Beans33 · 22/10/2010 07:57

DD1 up from 5.15 every 15 mins, so just as I was falling asleep again. DH finally got up to deal with her at 6.55 as he was getting up to run in. I don't mind him not doing it as he has work today. BUT I went to have a shower and he and DD1 put their heads round the door and I just carried on washing and he said "Someone's in a mood". It would be SO nice if the first thing he'd said to me was something kind. Dream on. As if that's ever going to happen. Silly tit.

Sorry, me me me me, but I'm just bored of it. I have composed the following email - what do you think?

"Reason I am so upset this morning was that I was thinking it would be lovely if you could have said something kind to me first thing rather than something that you knew would annoy/upset me. Perhaps think how you'd feel if I walked in and the first thing I said to you in the morning when you're feeling tired anyway was "someone's in a mood". You'd be just as angry as I am.

See you later."

Hi Hatty - lovely to see you.

Avo - your poor mum and poor you.

xx

Beans33 · 22/10/2010 08:09

In fact, in consideration, will not bother sending it and just maintain a dignified silence until he apologises. I told him what was wrong this morning and he didn't respond. Stupid twat.

spotofcheerfulness · 22/10/2010 08:27

Good idea not to send it, Beans. There's always room for misunderstanding and even more offence to be taken if it's written. That said, I did write DP an email on Mon as I felt that he never let me speak for long enough to finish everything I wanted to say and I could never remember it all. So i wrote it down then we read it together and talked about it then. But your issue is short enough to remember to say with an icy tone...

On the slipper front, I think I'm after some that you can just slip your feet into (without having to bend down), something you're not likely to slip downstairs in - and maybe sheepskin?? Actually, I am just describing pensioner slippers, aren't I?

T waking a bit again in night but still no milk and def teeth (not cold as put him in fleecy suit under bag last night) and he settled with some ibuprofen, water and teething gel, so we're def on the right road, but I will be SO PLEASED when the teeth finally all come through.

I bought a P&T on sale recently and have been using it with just the single seat to get T used it it. It does feel v heavy and unweildy in comparison with a Maclaren but glad we've got it.

Glad shoulder's a bit better, Rubes Smile

T's hair a disaster zone. But he is little enough for it to be funny. I might as well just try and do it myself next time...

Rubena · 22/10/2010 09:14

another disastrous night with ds. He's miserable. He slept fine 7pm-2 then up at 2, 3 and 5 all full of snot, coughing, really upset. dh worked downstairs until 1am then got up to him at 2 and 5 Sad He only wants milk and Old El Paso burrito wraps Hmm won't eat porridge, or weetbix, not even banana or yogurt Shock
Can't face going out the door to toddler group. Its so cold. dd ok but didn't settle until about 11pm then slept through till about 0430-5. It's all a blur I can't remember.

Glad things are on the improve Spot

Beans33 · 22/10/2010 09:16

Yes Spot, thanks for tip. Won't send! Just feel like it's the equvalent of a bad day at work for him and when that happens I don't become a pathetic child and accuse him of being in a mood. Perhaps I should do just that and ditch the sympathy!

Sorry about selfish post was in total rage! P&T does seem heavy compared to single maclaren but compared to my double maclaren triumph it's like pushing a feather!

Yesterday I thought I had mud on bugaboo wheels so tracked through house and thought would hoover up later when dry. Turned out it was dog poo. Joys.

lady how you feeling today? sybs how are the sickly ones?

Off for coffee with a friend shortly. Can't wait!

Spot sounds like nights are getting better. Is it his molars coming through or still the earlier ones? DD1 got all hers bt 10months, which was ace, but am dreading the big bastards coming through!

Need to do proper read through and catch up, but Avo, your story about your Dad moved me so much. Your Mum must have been so strong to cope. So however much my DH pisses me off I must remember how lucky I am to have him.

Rubena · 22/10/2010 09:24

Spot you need Uggs here

EffiePerine · 22/10/2010 09:44

Rubes: are you OK? You are still at that tricky stage with DD so small and DS1 under the age of reason. If you can't face going out could you invite someone over? Or you could post DS1 in the garden while you sit with a cuppa and a mag :).

Rubena · 22/10/2010 10:28

Thanks Effie, I'm OK though. I've just got one of those total energy zapping colds with the aches and all that and I suspect ds is feeling the same plus seems to have more congestion than me Sad He ate some rice cakes and yogurt just now and some milk [again] and has just gone down for a nap un-protested - he's knackered. DD has also fallen asleep so I shall try and do the same. It's tricky feeling like shit with two small ones! I opened the plastics cupboard for ds this morning and he had fun arranging everything all over the kitchen floor Hmm but that was enough to exhaust him. Just hope he can nap long enough before his snot and aches wake him.
