WHAT IS A TABLE RUNNER????

DeidreBarlow · 08/11/2010 14:52

rubes I'd say about 6 inches, with a foot overhang would DS not be tempted tograb it and drag it off.

Oh and definately no tassles...a square cut off is much classierWink. Pointy ends are okay as long as they remain tassle-free.

spot Get one, honestly then you can be a cool as me and rubes Grin

DeidreBarlow · 08/11/2010 14:53

rubes what colour is it...post a link....table-runner pornGrin

LadyThompson · 08/11/2010 14:55

Just a quick sneaky post from the Landmark - we were insane to bring the smalls to a place like this for lunch - DD1 used to be so well behaved and now she is such a monkey. Ha! Oh dear. Amm drowning sorrows in a spot of Taittinger Grin thank you so much for you kind wishes, back to cheery self today. Love to all and can't wait to do a proper catch up.

Rubena · 08/11/2010 15:02

lol! oh it's off eBay. Just a chocolate suede-esq number. I just found a Christmassy one with little led lights in it!!!! Shock that might be crossing the line from class to cheese. DH would want it. Yes someone did write on a website about toddlers pulling them off and they can be secured with double sided tape. Hmm I asked her to do it 9 foot so that would be about 8 inches overhang with our table size. We have a super heavy massive low sitting candle in the middle so he's have to tug hard, but if he did he's be very sternly told off and hopefully wouldn't do it again [famous last words]
Spot - google table runner images Grin

Rubena · 08/11/2010 15:03

Oh lady! So glad to hear you are having a lovely cheerful lunch! i bet you are a table runner expert as well.... come and join in the chatter when you get home Grin

Rubena · 08/11/2010 15:18

Check out the led Christmas one! the things you can get these days!

Rubena · 08/11/2010 15:36

oh dear. I've scared everyone off with my LED table runner picture.....

DeidreBarlow · 08/11/2010 15:40

rubes DH wanted one like that last yearGrin. I think its quite nice, especially with some dimmed lights and candles...I just worry that due to the lights it might not lay totally flat!!!

Veggiemummy · 08/11/2010 16:33

I think that is actually quite classy Pubes but I'm not exactly full of Christmas classiness (remember the mock lobster we had for last Christmas dinner). The led runner is quite cheap.

Glad your feeling better Lady. But Im very jealous of the drinkies action. I will not be commenting on my DS2's behaviour in future. He us been up graded from challenging behaviour to from the pits of hell difficult. Or should that be down graded.

Rubena · 08/11/2010 19:14

Oh yes Vagola, the lobster!
yes actually I quite like it but it's too short. We aren't having Christmas dinner at our house anyway so I'll refrain.
I need to concentrate on Christmas tree decoration really Grin

urbanewarrior · 08/11/2010 19:32

Hello chaps. Lady I was thinking of you when i was watching the fireworks. Glad you're feeling better today . Loving the table runner chat. I have one too (from first pg nesting...)
so it turns out that the reason my hair looks better/I have been v tired/in funny mood/my boobs have been really hurting/I cried at x factor is...(bet you can't guess).

Am clackered. So much for broodyness Grin v early days yet (baby due next July) so trying not to get too excited. But also was on the pill and taking it properly g'vnr honest. So am a bit Shock but mainly excited. Funny how in abstract prospect of being pg is complex and now I am seems much more simple.

Am sneaking post from work - back later...

Rubena · 08/11/2010 19:56

WOW Urbane!!!!! massive congrats!! Guess you've answered my mini poll about who who has 2 dc's is planning on a 3rd!! I can't remember if you were def planning a 3rd? Sounds like you are very happy with the news though! big Congrats x

sybilfaulty · 08/11/2010 20:00

OH my god, Urbane, congratulations! What splendid news. Come and join the more kids than hands club! It's great. Whose next? Beans? Rubes? Vag? I think Arti is already half way in.

Glad you are feeling chipper LadyT. I often think about you and how positive you are, when you have had so much sadness. It must be very confusing and overwhelming at times. Look forward to a natter soon. Am loving my Julian fellowes. Top choice.

Must go and put the pork in. Lots of love XX

sybilfaulty · 08/11/2010 20:02

Hi Rubes, am looking forward to some table porn later.

Realise that my talk of putting the pork in may have appeared in poor taste and rather smutty. It's been that sort of day. I meant in the oven for supper. I think I am now making it worse

By thw way, where is JJ??? Hope you are OK my lovely.

Rubena · 08/11/2010 20:08

Sybs Grin @ pork in! Not a chance for me - see my earlier posts. I'm one of those stopping at two for a plethora of reasons. All my time going for these two current munchkins Grin

I'm after some Christmas tree decoration talk please.....

Gosh c'mon dh (on call at work) Fortunately both kiddies tucked up in bed.

JumpJockey · 08/11/2010 20:26

Evening all! (hello Sybs!)

have been posting on the odd other thread but scared of trying to come on here and catch up after ages off Blush bad me. It's really hard to keep up as I can't read at work, when I'm at home dd tries to climb all over the laptop, and the evenings (when DH is home, not yet :( ) are kept for trying to have grown-up conversations...

Anyway - Hurrah Modernlove for your dd Grin and Hurrah Urbane for being clackered Grin

and our good news is that the GTT was pretty horrid but unsurprisingly the result came out absolutely fine. So I can carry on eating lots of cake as normal and all should be fine, just a baby with a big tum. The more hoops we jump through, the better the chance of being able to have a HB again as there's plenty of evidence that all is well with baby.

Also had the singing workshop last weekend, DD's godmother looked after her for two full days and it was brilliant - we arrived back at theirs after a day of the most stupendous music ever (the composition, if not our performance Wink) and the kidlets were ready for bath and bed, then lovely lovely godmother cooked us all scrummy dinner and we had adult conversation for a couple of hours. And they played together so gorgeously, it was quite fabby given that they don't see each other all that often. (and my girly crush on the chap leading the workshop has faded a bit. A bit. Honest)

Avocadoes · 08/11/2010 21:33

Wow Urbane!!!! Congratulations. I think you have shown the way to do it, I should quit the pondering and just get on with it. How many weeks are you? Will this affect your work plans? I am sooooo excited for you.

And lovely to see you JJ. I'm pleased to hear your GTT was normal and that you had a nice break. I had forgotten you had a HB before. I hope you get another one this time.

How are you feeling this evening LadyT? I hope DD1 let you enjoy you finish your posh lunch. Did you register D today as well?

And Rubes I have a table runner. I asked for it on our wedding list. I even have matching napkins! I have to admit I have never used it though...

Good news that you have a back-up house Veg. Have you linked to the one you love yet? I want to see it!

I am suddenly really busy at work. Tomorrow there is a big vote and if the motion is passed I am going to be run off my feet until Easter. Its all a bit unexpected and tonight I am feeling a bit regretful that we have gone for the expensive house and therefore I can't reduce my hours. All the more reason to get clackered and take another maternity leave. In fact if I take another maternity leave and have no childcare (other than state nursery) then we will save loads of money (I get full pay for 6 months and everything we normally pay the nanny could be saved for those 6 months). With those savings I could afford to work a 3 day week for the next 3 years. The more I think of it the more pressing clackerdom seems Wink.

Avocadoes · 08/11/2010 21:34

Ooops, I also meant to send my best wishes to Kiwi. I hope your DD's kidney tests went well today.

Veggiemummy · 08/11/2010 21:51

Hope Kiwigirl is ok, probably both exhausted from the long day.

Alas lovely Sybs, I shall not be putting anymore pork in my oven. DH is quite adamant that we are stopping at two. I'm wondering though now if I could try a pill style pregnancy like Urbane. Congrats lovely Urbane! Lovely DS will make such a great big bruv to two little monkeys. What a little troop they'll be out in Greenwich in their wellies.

Hoping to offer on the house tomorrow but according to the real estate dude it can be a long process of too ing and fro ing. It does happen a lot slower here. I tried to get a link but the page wouldnt open. Will try tomorrow.

Right off to bed hoping tonight is better we have pulsatilla and he has eaten ok today, not as well as usual but better than yesterday. I spiked his last few cups of water with pulsatilla and he was in a better mood tonight.

waitinggirl · 08/11/2010 22:15

blinking heck, urbs, that's fantastic! fingers crossed and all that jazz.

lady - tough tough time for you. glad you are feeling perkier today.

avo - get on with it, girl!

JamInMyWellies · 08/11/2010 23:23

Urbane what lovely news, congratulations.

Have to say I am on the pill and am always a bit disappointed when I have my break and I get my period. Although saying that am at my mums tonight keeping her company as dad is in hospital and DS2 took a recrod 2 hrs to fall asleep. Infact he is now in bed with me with his feet on my belly. I predict a really restful night. Hmm

Will try get on properly to catch up on Wed eve DH is off to see his beloved West Ham.

Lady am hoping yesterday was not to hard for you and that you were able to remember DH and all the fun you had together.

Rubena · 08/11/2010 23:32

DD's swing arrived. I know why it was such a bargain. Only instructions were in Japanese Confused- fumbled through with pictures though. bit pissed though, and it will be reflected in my feedback for the ebay shop - bastardsAngry
Great news on the tests JJ. Sorry about your drama with the full bike shed Grin
Avo good luck clackering. Are you going to try from now? Tonight? Grin Glad to hear you have a table runner Grin now use it please!

WG join the table runner club - you joined the clackered club. You know you want to be just as cool as us Hmm We are sad aren't we.
DH got home late and really tired then hastily did a temporary move of the TV, tripped on an expensive cable attached to it and now the picture is green. Perfect. Glad he wasn't using power tools. I should go to bed, cause unless I watch some golf, this is really hard on the eyes.

So does anyone have an open fire place (with spark guard) since having littluns?

I am going to Selfridges Grotto, V excited Grin

JamInMyWellies · 09/11/2010 07:09

We to are selfridge grottos too. Off on dec 16th I think.

I have a table runner never use it anymore ad our table has an oilcloth on it to protect it from the evil ones.
