I see lou is, when i see louis.....sorry, but i didn't even know it was louee! Thought that was just a nickname for lewis! Blush

I didn't think Isobel was an Isobel when i first saw her, and when they put her on my chest in the operating theatre, i actually said to DP, 'do you want to call her Sophia? (that was his choice for a girls name), cos i thought she looked more like a Sophia - but he said no.

I think Isobel is teething too. She has been sucking her fist more than usual and dribbling. She also keeps crying and the only times she cries is when she is hungry, so i've been putting her on the breast more, but it doesn't seem to be what she wants.

beaditali Jack's lucky, Jacob gets 'chunk' and 'fat chops'. Xmas Grin

newmum I read your post out loud to my DH just to prove to him that it's not just me that feels down when their LO is having a bad day. Harlyn was also a total mare yesterday. He wouldn't sleep all day and seemed to be a pain with his wind. He hardly had any happy awake time and we normally get at least a few hours (not all at once). He was also like it this morning too after his feed so i took him to the docs who just said "it's 3 month colic, keep taking infacol"! Helpful!!!!!

I decided to do some research and found that Cow & Gate do a formula milk for colic which has reduced lactose (i think), its called comfort infant milk. So I am trying him on that to see of it stops the constant gripes and discomfort. I still bf twice a day though so will continue with colief drops for those feeds. I feel awful using all these meds (colief, infacol & infant gaviscon for reflux). I did try on saturday and Sunday to cut out the gaviscon but he just started puking up loads of his milk again. Confused So far he has had one feed with this new milk and because it is thicker, I haven't used the gaviscon and he has only sicked up a little bit, so fingers crossed now for the gripes to settle.

9 weeks (- 1 day)

JodeyLea · 02/12/2010 18:30

spoke too soon! He's happy as larry but has brought back up a good 2 ounce of feed! Confused

Maybe I'll put gaviscon in next feed!

bananastew · 02/12/2010 19:09

Beadit Again I feel the same about Oliver being so popular but just lke you I only know one other! It was a toss up between Oliver & Lucas! I had the final choice and went for Oliver because I thought DH preferred it. I still wonder if he would have suited Lucas better!

Well, its officially christmas! the trees up!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/12/2010 19:16

Luke is dribbling loads but I think it's because he has a cold so has to breathe with his mouth open! He also sucks furiously on his fist when he's trying to get off to sleep.

I'd say loo iss too mapletrees, sorry if that's wrong!

I used these with ds1 from Tesco and they were great.

Thank you all for your name comments, it could be that I am so used to ds1's name as you say bananastew. We loved Jack beaditAli but dh's nephew is Jack so we thought that was a bit weird. My first choices were Oscar, Noah and Sebastian but dh hated all Xmas Sad

For anyone thinking of having a coil I had mine fitted today and it was no problem at all, just few period type cramps since.

bananastew · 02/12/2010 19:17

Ds1 has just shouted me!
"Mummy boby (Toby) done poo!"
"Have you Xmas Hmm???"
He promptly turned round and stuck his bum out for me to sniff!!!!!!! The conversation continued-
"boby ceen bogie!"
"where?"
"ummmm, in my mouth!!!"
What a delightful child I have!

MammyG · 02/12/2010 19:56

Hi all
newmum I have 3 children and honestly found the first one the hardest. He was a bit of a text book baby but it took me ages to adjust and to let him whinge sometimes etc. It was the health nurse that told me one day not to worry when he cried - finish my shower, cup of tea or whatever. Also in the book 'the baby whisperer' there is one section that I liked where she describes babies personalities. It just gives an alternate way of thinking about grumpy or at times difficult babies. Must also mention that DH and I often think back to that time and how our relationship changes so much. Far more that with the other two. Keep talking - its the only way to know what is going on with each other. And write Grace's routine up on the fridge or something. I did this with all of ours and updated it when necessary that way he knew when to slot in and wasnt so helpless if i wasnt there. He found it great too.
cinamon we had about 3 other girls names that I loved up til this pregnancy but kept moaning to DH that they didnt suit and I couldnt look at my bump and use that name. He of course thought I was daft! Then she came along and he totally understood - Phoebe suite her down to the ground far more than the other names on our list. But with DS2 I found it took ages to get used to his name even tho I had it picked the week I found out I was pregnant. I think its cause DS1 was so young it just felt odd having another name in the house. I cant believe the amount of people I have met tho that hadnt heard of the name Phoebe. One person even asked if I made it up?
I still have a cold. And so does the little miss - nights are long. But bless her she is so pleasant its not too bad. If only the dynamic duo would slow down to my speed!! DS1 is just non-stop agrumentative at the moment and DS2 is going thru the whingey stage. Need a holiday!

Dixiebell · 02/12/2010 20:23

I love the name Arlo for my LO, but sometimes it all seems a bit weird and I find myself thinking is that little person really ours? And he's called Arlo? Do you know what I mean?! It's just that the whole idea of a baby we created seems so alien that everything that goes with it, including the name is hard to believe!

mellymooks · 02/12/2010 20:45

mammmyg do they not watch Friends?! How can you not have heard of Phoebe?! It's a lovely name, it was on our girl list.

dixie I know what you mean, we so fell in love with our DD's name, Kaesha and only found it about a week before she was born, it just seemed so right, so when she came everytime we said it or told someone her name it felt magical and 3 years on it still does!!

bellabelly · 02/12/2010 21:46

We have soooo much snow! Loving it - but only because we have plenty of food, drink and nappies in the house Grin. The trains here have not been running so DH has been at home the last three days. Selfishly, am really hoping he won't be able to go in tomorrow either...

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 02/12/2010 22:08

oh melly im so Envy
i looked for dd's name for so long,i was so convinced i would find the one and i just never did...and i still dont love her name,it is totally gutting.their were so many names we had to veto that all my favorites were gone.to this day i wish id named her something else...Sad

clumsymumsnowdriftbaby · 02/12/2010 22:38

oh,oh, forgot to say,i finally lost some weight...a whole stone !! (i put on 3 Shock) Grin

mapletrees · 02/12/2010 23:00

Xmas Grin banana - oh the joys to come...

Thanks for the name survey. He's a Loo-ee (it's originally French). It's a family name for me so I've always known it like that, but I can see why people say Loo-iss Xmas Smile

Dixiebell · 03/12/2010 06:27

Clumsy, I love your Dd's name. Would seriously consider it for a girl but thou might think I was atalking you or something if I ended up with both the same names as you! Incidentally, where did you find the name arlo? I literally just found it in the ONS list of names for 2008 (v low down the list!) and has never heard of it before but loved it. So was surprised to see someone else choosing it on the same MN thread! None of my family have ever heard of it but they love it now.

Arlo - 8 weeks 4 days

Dixiebell · 03/12/2010 06:28

Okay you might think I was stalking you is what I meant to say! F:)

Dixiebell · 03/12/2010 06:29

And Xmas Smile!

Dixiebell · 03/12/2010 06:31

I found it in the ONS statistics doesn't make for a good story about how we picked the name...but perhaps demonstrates my civil servant nature...!

newmum001 · 03/12/2010 08:11

Morning all, just a quick question again for those with older kids and and everyones new babies. Do you think yours might need solids before 6 months and has anyone given solids before 6 months? Im not saying grace is ready now but we've been thinking recently and i don't think she'll go that long on just milk. She's such a big sturdy baby i can't see milk being enough for that long! We wont even consider it until she's over 4 months but is anyone else thinking the same?

bananastew · 03/12/2010 08:27

newmum how much milk does she have? The general opinion is that unless they're draining 9oz bottles every hour you can't physically give them anymore so its time to wean. I weaned ds1 at 21 weeks because he wouldn't take his milk. wouldn't take solids either and didn't really get the hang of it until he was nearer 7 months!!! I'm thinking this time I'll wait as long as I can and maybe try BLW!

bella we're fast running out of everything. no chocolate or wine Xmas Shock I'll be found rocking in a corner soon if I don't escape! Xmas Grin

newmum001 · 03/12/2010 08:56

Bloody hell 9oz an hour?? She's on 8oz every 3 or 4 hours during the day but usually sleeps for 8/9 hours at night.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/12/2010 09:47

There are some earlier posts on the thread about weaning newmum001. I weaned my ds1 at 5 1/2 months not because hewas ready but because he was starting with a childminder and I wanted to know there were things he would eat while he was there (as it turns out there was nothing he wouldn't eat!). IME it's more parents that want to wean than babies need to be weaned, people do it for all sorts of reasons often because they think it will help sleeping through the night, because they see their baby looking at everything they eat or just because it's lovely to see your baby enjoying foods. DS1 was a huge baby, was on 98th centile so when I started weaning him was 20lb 11oz and as I say not showing signs of needed anything other than milk.

I think it's a very personal thing and I only have experience of one baby and they are all so different in many ways but I would say wait and see size isn't necessarily a sign they will need weaning early.

I don't really drink bananastew but running out of chocolate would be a total disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's sooooo cold this morning, we still don't have much snow just treacherous ice everywhere.

One of my minded children had glands the size of golf balls yesterday so he's off to the dr this morning so I have a quiet morning with ds1 at preschool too. Have done some vacuuming and am sitting for a bit now Xmas Grin

bananastew · 03/12/2010 11:11

Newmum I think people say9oz every hour is just to prove a point that you can always give them more milk if they are seeming to be hungry. Like cinnamon says its a personal thing. Just as long as you know the guidelines and know the reasons for waiting then its entirely your choice.

Have you managed to get out the house yet? I put Olly in the sling & bribed ds1 with his dummy (he's only allowed it in bed!) and managed to walk round to see dh at work! I've never felt so happy to be freezing!

beaditAli · 03/12/2010 12:00

Haven't we got here fast! Weaning, solids etc...... time flies. He's not 3 months old yet but I don't know anything about it yet. Better get some literature to flick through during my days trapped in the cosy living room. Xmas Smile
Jack was a muppet yesterday then when DH came home he fed him, bathed him and was asleep by 7pm not to wake until 3am! I was pleased for Jack but after all we've said (OH MY GOD MONSTER TRUMPET JUST NOW! HA HA LITERALLY ABOUT 15 SECONDS LONG!) about our fellas having the easy times! He did sleep downstairs with Jack so I could work til late then have a lovely nights sleep so mustn't moan (too much) [fmm]
Poo time now! Xmas Smile
Would you like me to carry on narrating my son's daily bottom habits or shall we keep discussing wine and chocolates Hee heeee Xmas Grin Xmas Wink
God it's getting bad when you laugh at yourself isn't it?! Xmas Hmm

beaditAli · 03/12/2010 12:13

Anyone else find that a nappy bag just doesn't suffice? My carrier bag stocks are rapidly depleting thanks to his Lordship's yukky bum Xmas Biscuit

beaditAli · 03/12/2010 12:15

Dixie clumsy come on with the santa hats!!!! Xmas Grin
Can you tell I'm a little bored today?
