LO doesn't get much tummytime at all Hermya, which is band if me-it's just if she isnon the floor Ds tries to lie on her etc. I need to do more. She can lift her head an upper chest up so doing ok, but doesn't really like it.

I really feel for R and those like her. My dm friend has retired, only to now be a full time carer to her mil and now her own mum needs care-she has had no relaxed retirement yet and gets virtually no respite care. It sucks :( it's not a "sexy" news topic, and I think a perfect storm was created as they were all in Bristol anyway for J Y's murder. I hope she is ok.

nymphadora · 21/01/2011 14:01

Not a lot of tummy time.she tends to try & wriggle along on her tummyHmm

Regretting encouraging hands. Just been put for lunch & she kept trying to pinch things.

Bloody work moved goal posts re restructure & not as safe now!

HermyaLovesLysander · 21/01/2011 14:42

Nymph As you're on ML isn't your job protected somewhat anyway?

Floozie Urmmm I do a couple of minute increments throughout the day, DS hates tummy time. I consider it a win if we can get a minute out of him to be frank. He can raise his head pretty well though. He's been trying to push his bottom in the air recently, all this does though is smush his face into the playmat and makes him cry though. So I'm not really too sure what he's trying to achieve there though.

Seashells Did you halluinate anything nice?

We went to baby clinic today, DS is now 13 pounds something or other but he has dropped a percentile from the 55th to the 45th. HV said to bring him back in a couple of weeks to see how he's doing. Is this something I should be concerned about? I spoke to a friend and she said that when she BF they kept saying the same thing to her as well. In the end she stopped going to the clinic.

nymphadora · 21/01/2011 14:56

They are that behind on restructure that I'll be back at work. If I stayed off for a year I'd be better but I can't afford that.

nymphadora · 21/01/2011 14:57

H- I wouldn't worry unless he doesn't put it on or loses it

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 21/01/2011 17:06

(floozie, sorry just realised I directed an answer to H instead of you Blushapologies)

Hallucinations were mainly warm cozy bed related. Boring but highly desired at time!!! Couldn't get into bed fast enough when I got home!

tiredfeet · 21/01/2011 17:23

Ds hates tummy time. I try and do it most days if I can but he rarely lasts more than a couple of minutes. I have found though that putting a support cushion under his chest helps, and he needs rattles shaking and stuff or he just gets bored. He can lift and turn his head, hour just doesn't seem to be a big fan of it

sam12 · 21/01/2011 18:28

Another one here who hates tummy time- she lifts her head up for a bit and then resorts to sucking the carpet/settee/playmat and grumbling.
Dd seems to have found her tongue and has been poking it out for the last two days. At first I thought there might be something up with her but she seems happy enough so I think she's just showing off her new trick.
Hermya I took dd and she weighed the same but unless the weight has gone down I wouldn't worry.
Right best go dd is shouting

TimeForABrew · 21/01/2011 19:04

Hello all, my DD isn't a tummy time fan either, once she did a whole 5 minutes (!!!) but it's usually well under a minute, with her making " uh uh uh" noises as she tries to do mini press ups then hitting her nose on the playmat and wailing.

nymphadora · 21/01/2011 19:17

Dd3 just been yelling at my Mam. Couldn't work out why until dd2 took the doll off her & gave it to dd3. All smiles. It was dd3s doll not Grandmas ...

dontstopmenow · 21/01/2011 20:16

nymph, that is sooo cute!

Floozie - I feel for you, we have the same problem with one child waking the other.

Another DD here who hates tummy time with a passion. She is not the happiest baby anyway so I tend to avoid anyting that will make her more cross!

Elsa123 · 22/01/2011 12:40

aww don'tstopmenow is there any reason for the unhappiness do you think?

Another tummy time hater here too. Not helped by her harness tbh. She gets plenty of time off her back during cuddles and feeding and she likes to sit upright so has good head control. As we seem to have a bunch of tummy time haters, how're your DCs doing on the old head shape?

HermyaLovesLysander · 22/01/2011 13:00

Elsa Mine has a little flat spot on the back of his head, HV said that it wasn't anything to worry about. I've looked at pictures from when he was born and his head is the same shape so I'm not too worried at the moment.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 22/01/2011 13:32

A bit flat, but she spends most of her day propped up in the sofa watching and playing so it's not bad. I'm paranoid of it going really flat though.

sam12 · 22/01/2011 15:20

Dd is also a bit flat and has a bald spot there-not that she has much hair anyway- but when she is awake she is mostly sat up.

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 22/01/2011 17:07

Hi sophie isnt into tummy time but likes sitting up, she is rather bald bless her. no flat spot though. Ds used to have a perfect round bald patch as he didnt like tummy time either but hah had an operation on his tummy so can see why. :)

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 22/01/2011 17:08

hah meant he, i think.

TimeForABrew · 22/01/2011 17:50

Greetings all, DD has a flat spot but it's due to being squished under my ribs & is much better than it was!

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 22/01/2011 18:43

I wonder if I'm being paranoid and it's just one of her fontenelles? It's not bad, in any case...

She has lots of hair-it's about an inch long on the top and sides, but alot shorter at the back :)

Elsa123 · 22/01/2011 18:50

DD has a flat patch but its not flat straight up from the neck or anything severe. She does spend most of her time sat up when not asleep or feeding. I was pinned to the sofa all afternoon as she had a feed/comfort frenzy.

SilverSky · 22/01/2011 20:42

Ds also not keen at all in tummy time. He also does the "huh huh huh" thing too. Instead we let him sort of lean on us rather than tummy time. I figured that once he starts rolling on to his tum that he will have fine it on his own terms!

Ds' head seems fine. Not a lot of hair but it's growing at last. No flat spots either. He spends a lot of time in his bouncer or being fed!!

Am a bit worried about his skin. He's got red patches on the inside if his elbows, In his arm pits and also on his forearms. Been putting sudocrem on but wonder if I should get the HV to take a look. Bet it's eczema.

floozietoozie · 22/01/2011 23:17

Dd has a flat spot and hv has rferred her for Physio. Ds had an extreme flat spot cos he favoured the right side as it was weaker and was lying down for much longer than other babies. Can your LOs sit up then or do you mean in a bouncy chair or similar? Ds's consultant said to use a doughnut shaped pillow for him but our old hv said it was a SIDS risk so i never did it as he was at higher risk of SIDS anyway.

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 23/01/2011 16:00

Dd sits in bouncy chair floozie and she is 4 months old now.

Have just fell up the stairs holding Dd, thankfully my wrists took my weight and hit the step and Sophie just got scared and cried for a few seconds. Was so scared I had hurt her. She is smiling in her cot now waving her arms around.

TimeForABrew · 23/01/2011 16:49

Tyson!!!! Thank goodness Sophie is alright - how are your wrists?

I'm in such a pissed off mood today, wonder if it's PMT? Everything annoys me and I don't feel in control.

nymphadora · 23/01/2011 17:58

Been to zoo today. Took dd3 in the carrier so she could see & was totally stunned by a giraffe Grin. She missed the tiger though who was pawing at the glass window inches away from us. People were backing off!

No flat or bald bits here.

Had friend round yesterday with her baby & dd3 shared her playmat which didn't go down that well but they then fought over friends dds cloth!
