hermya no I think its fabby Smile I have a similar stripy one for ds its so cheerful its definitely one of my favourites

nymph yes I think its making him too uncomfortable. Worst thing is dh is away until monday so there is no one to share the sleepless nights with. He says he will come back early if I really need him to but I would feel so guilty if it came to that. I just hope ds manages even a couple of hours tonight...

NoHunIntended · 18/01/2011 22:55

We are back from Scotland. Had a lovely time, but it is nice to be in my own home and my own bed, and being able to feed with my bosom out, as oppose to trying to cover up (not that MIL would mind, but I do!). DS got to meet his great-grandfather, his cousins, and various other relatives. He is so smiley and happy, it is adorable. :)

H, I like it. But then I don't subscribe to this pink is for girls/blue is for boys thing. Go for it!

tf, sorry to hear about the eczema. Not sure what you are using, but the lady behind this range of products has a daughter who had eczema, and she developed this range, and now her DD is eczema-free. B-Organic. HTH.

SilverSky · 19/01/2011 13:42

Hun much easier to wop a boob out rather than be discreet - loads more hassle!!

Elsa123 · 19/01/2011 18:36

Hello everyone. We went to hospital today to have DD's hips checked. I was hoping the consultant would say that she could be out of the harness during the day and only wear it at night but even though the improvement has been vast and she's now 'normal' he wants her to wear it full time for another 6 weeks Sad. I know its for the best but its not nice and she gets soo uncomfortable. I made a right tit of myself in the hospital. ~On the way the pushchair wheels got really muddy so I took it into the hospital loos to clean the wheels as I did not want to trail mud round the hospital. I washed the back wheels under the tap and got as much mud as I could from the front wheels. Of course I made a mess but cleaned up after myself and a woman complained and someone came into the loos to tell me off Blush. It did not occur to me to go in, get tissues and clean up outside (not that that would have done a good job tbh but there you go!).

Hermya i think the green and yellow colours balance out the pink stripe. Go for it.

Tiredfeet try an oatmeal bath for your LO. Some pinhead oatmeal in the end of a stocking/tights and put it in the bath and when its soaked squeeze it over your LO. It creates a lovely soothing emollient. I've suffered from eczema for years and can recommend it.

Elsa123 · 19/01/2011 18:37

Welcome back from Scotland NoHun!

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 19/01/2011 19:26

I am so proud of ds, 4 days of potty training and his playgroup say he doesnt need nappy pants anymore. Wow!

HermyaLovesLysander · 19/01/2011 19:47

Thanks guys, I think I will go for it. It's so bright and cheerful, plus I can use it for future children. Me and DS went to see my Mum today, it was lovely. I think everyone must have been in a very good mood today, I had several conversations with various people in cafe and a random woman with a two year old in a cafe who didn't speak English ended up playing with DS for a good fifteen minutes. DS had his bear sleepsuit on which has ears on the feet and the little two year old kept hugging DS's feet. It was so so cute!!!

Tyson Yay DS!!!!

Nohun Welcome back!!!

Nymph Next seem to do nice bright girly babygrows which I'd love to put a little girl in.

shieldbug · 19/01/2011 20:10

hello all!
i'm going to show my ignorance and ask what blw is (I know what it stands for, but what does it mean in practical terms?) I reckoned I would wean whenever ds shows an interest in food, but tbh, I really don't have a clue. I always assumed it would be somewhere around the 6 month mark.

tyson congrats to your ds Grin
elsa good to hear the harness is having the required effect. At least the end is in sight now.
hermya the bear suit sounds fab !
silver wow, your ds is heavy! you are obviously giving him good milk!

I think ds is teething because he keeps crying in pain, and that's the only reason I can think of. his cheeks were really red today as well. is this plausible at 11 weeks?

nymphadora · 19/01/2011 21:02

Quick post going to bed now!

BLW is more finger foods & letting babyfeed them selves rather than purees

Hermya- got some nice ones from next, pink with castles/houses on. Two mumsnet local posts for our area btw, one for us & one over the border south!

Dd3 tried to suck a little boys toes at baby group todayHmm
How many of your babies grab with hands yet? Dd3 only grabs fingers & boobs. Everything else she head dives or kicks

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 19/01/2011 22:09

Well done tyson's Ds!! How old is he out of interest? Starting to think about potty training Ds eeek.

Hermya-glad you had a good day :) the sun was out today, everyone had a smile on their faces!

Nymph- not really interested in grabbing toys etc at the moment, just staring at people.

Elsa-doh! Oh well, can't be helped...sounds like you cleared up best you could. Good news re dd-another 6 weeks on but what a relief it's normal now.

Dd got weighed today-15lb of cuteness. Same old hv-ate you sure she has no formula?!! She is doing well Grin so strong and alert. Ds is very cute with her (did you see my bfing thread? He is bfing his Teddy atm)

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 19/01/2011 23:39

Thanks :)

seashells he is 2.7 years. He is a star Grin

SilverSky · 20/01/2011 08:01

Aww sea that's cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bugs - carrying him for any length of time is painful!! He's tall more than chunky. Actually he's just solid as well -who am I kidding!!

Well, our nights are regressing!! Bed about 730 and usually awake and usually goes off to sleep happily and by himself. Wakes anytime from 1230-2 for a feed then normally goes back down til 5 or 6. However now he's been waking up around 330/4 grumbling but this morning he was crying so gave him a feed and he went back off. At first I thought he was hating his mircale blanket but even when not swaddled he wakes grunting and sounding cross and flinging his legs about. So not sure what the prob is. All I know is that I am knackered having got up twice last night!

elsa six weeks will fly by. Each day is a day closer to Dds freedom!!

Hope everyone is fine and dandy! Sorry not to name check everyone!!

nymphadora · 20/01/2011 08:13

Silver we've gone back to 2-3 times. Hence the early night last night

Period back with a vengeance. Going to have to sort out pill. Forgotten how bad they are

Elsa123 · 20/01/2011 09:50

Morning all!

Shield I bought the BLW book the other day. On top of what Nymph said, you basically skip the purees stage and offer the same food (as long as you're not having a honey nut salted raw egg feast) as you're having. However veg should be a bit softer than you may have it. Stuff is cut into pieces that a baby could grab and still be able to eat so enough to hold onto with a bit sticking out the top to eat iyswim. At first they tend to play and gum food then get the point and start to eat. Its meant to be a good follow on esp from breastfeeding as with bfing they've had control of food, so this keeps that for them rather than you making them eat. Worth buying or borrowing the book to get the full gist. Its a very easy read.

Your DD is a bundle of fun isn't she Nymph?!

Seashells wow 15lbs! Well done you!

I had DD out of the harness for 45 mins last night and it was so strange cuddling her without it getting in the way and seeing her long legs!

Well done with your DS Tyson, very impressive!

nymphadora · 20/01/2011 16:10

After asking on here dd3 just pocked up her caterpillar & threw it.

Elsa123 · 20/01/2011 18:10

Good for her Nymph! DD is batting stuff and can grab, but only with small things. My mum successfully gace DD a bottle this afternoon which makes me feel loads better about her looking after DD next week. I'm lucky that DD is being flexible over modes of feeding!

tiredfeet · 20/01/2011 18:25

Ds just rolled onto his side for first time today. He looked so delighted by it and did it another four times in quick succession. I am so pathetically proud and excited Grin

Well done tyson on the potty training!

seashells that's so sweet your ds feeding his teddy.

nymphadora · 20/01/2011 18:30

Well done tireds DS

Elsa -dd3 took a bottle quite happily off me & dh but just didn't drink any. Chewed sucked, looked surprised but didn't get that it was food!

Grabbing not what I hoped for. Just tried to snatch my bread & butter!

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 20/01/2011 18:54

Grin nymph that's cute! Tiredfeet- well done Ds!!

I'm shattered but dragging myself out to see friends-I think I'll be awful company but better than sniping at dh!

HermyaLovesLysander · 20/01/2011 20:32

Nymph Well done DD3!!

Seashells Have fun!!

I think DS has finished his growth spurt we had more than an hour between feeds today which was lovely, although left side has been sore today.

I'm also very tired, DH has gone out for the evening. We did go out to a friends for tea which was nice but it coinsided with DS's fussy time and to go out I've had to move the routine times around (mine not DS's). I know you're not supposed to consign yourself to the house when babies are little but you know what I just can't be bothered. I've not been out on an evening since DS was born and everytime I attempt it I just get stressed. A large part of me just wants to be at home of an evening where I know DS can be as fussy as he wants and I can be in my PJ's by 8pm and slob.

Also pratty tesco delivery man this morning critised the state of the house he said 'how do you cope with it like this?'. It's cluttered I'll admit but it's not like I've got dog poo plastered up the walls and DS staging a dirty protest in the corner of the room. I know what a filthy house is and mine really isn't it.

Elsa123 · 20/01/2011 21:52

LOL Hermya! Sod the Tesco's man. My house is cluttered too. I had a really quick tidy up of the kitchen/family room this morning 20 mins before my parents came round and threw quite a lot of stuff into a big drawer under the hob that shouldn't have lived there safe in the knowledge no one would be seeing it.......that is until my dad went round my kitchen opening all the door and drawers as he's currently redesigning his kitchen Blush. Sluts R Us here too Grin.

Well done to your DS Tiredfeet! Its great when they do something new isn't it? DD was behind the drag curve compared to many babies in this little group on the smiling front. But now at 14 weeks (today...crikey!!) she's grinning all the time!

Nymph top tip- sorry if you know this already...With bottles my mum showed me that if when you feed them you place a couple of fingers under their chin they have something to bounce off when feeding as normally they'd be bouncing their chin off your boob. ~Previously DD toyed a lot with the bottle teat and a lot of milk was spilt and this new way she was great and swallowed really well.

tiredfeet · 20/01/2011 22:45

elsa glad you are getting lots of smiles now Smile yes I love seeing each new change.

hermya think its hard not to have clutter with a little one, they seem to beed so much stuff. Your ds won't mind and that's what mattes. I struggle to with going out for the evening, just seems so much easier to stay in and avoid the stress. It really is such a short bit of our lives that will be like this though

seashells hope you have a good evening

Thamk you everyone who gave me eczema tips by the way!

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 21/01/2011 01:08

Shock Hermya - the cheeky sod! My house isndestroyed by all of usbwithin 10minutes of it being clean and tidy-it's just the sign of a lived in family home!!

Had a nice night thanks, but was nearly hallucinating at end after one drink and alot of tiredness Blush

So, mn has been interesting today. I've been playing spot the journo and Mathewmwright producer rubber necking - bloody irritating! I only hope some good can come out of it all for the carers I know, poor R has been a sacrificial lamb :( I hugged my dc tight today.

nymphadora · 21/01/2011 09:24

H- cheeky sod! We are being quite selective over toys etc as I've been here before & we font have much space! Play mat folds up pram is small etc. Babies still take over though.

E- didn't know the chin thing. Have breastflow bottles which need breastfeeding action & need big latch which she does but just likes to chew it. We've not tried at hungry times yet though only snack tomes. Have tried it v warm too as breastmilk is naturally body temp.

Seashells - I've met so many familieslike that & I'm v aware of how budgets are being hacked :(

floozietoozie · 21/01/2011 11:08

Sea that whole R carer thread and response was just incredible. I sometimes feel on tge edge with ds but my god her stry puts it in perspective.

Was it Silver saying about lo starting to cry out and you thought it was teething? 11 weeks isn't too early. Dd has just started doing the same thing at 12 weeksadjusted age. (sigh). Put her down at 7.30-8 last night. She was up at 9.30, 12.45, 4ish, 6 and didn't really go back down properly (ie I was awake),fed again at 7.15 then gave her bottle just in time to get up and do nursery rn with ds. She skept when I was out, not happy again this am, am feeding again now. Oh yes, and in the bit where she was sleeping last night ds came through, didn't go to sleep, said he needed the toilet eventually (didn't) wanted songs... I think he fell asleep just before I got up to feed her again. Confused. Up against it ATM cos dp not good so I'm doing all the kids stuff, including two nursery runs a day and I always do evenings so there is no let up until ds decides to sleep (another issue too!). God sorry that was a bit of a rant Blush.

Can I ask if your LOs can hold their heads up on their tummies? Dd could do 45 degrees and turn to another side but sge seems to have stopped doing it. Also, how much tummy time do yours get? HV said as muchas poss, which is like saying as long as a piece of string -approx times would be useful in that advice scenario!

Sorry for not much name checking, as usual this is on the phone so I can't check back.
